JEWELRY STORE HEIST

• Chehalis police are investigating after getting a report that a pickup truck broke out the windows at a jewelry store early this morning and an as-of-yet-unknown amount of items stolen. Officers were called at 3:11 a.m. to the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The suspect truck, which belonged to the city of Centralia, was located just before 9 a.m. at Southwest First Street and Scott Place in Chehalis, according to police. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Chehalis police.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• A Centralia retail store at the 1300 block of Lum Road reported the theft of $5,000 worth of merchandise just before 11 a.m. on Friday.  Stolen was a piece of jewelry, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called to a business on the 2400 block of Borst Avenue about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday because two individuals stole an exterior security camera.

• Centralia police were called to the 1100 block of View Avenue about 2:50 p.m. on Saturday because a New Jersey man allegedly had provided false personal information to a business in order to fraudulently obtain merchandise. Matthew S. Mangual, 24, of Garfield, New Jersey, was was booked into the Lewis County Jail for criminal impersonation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A resident at a care facility on the 1300 block of Alexander Street in Centralia reported the theft of twenty dollars just before noon on Friday, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A tape measure and tools were among the items stolen from a vehicle at the 1900 block of Ahlers Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police at about 1 p.m. on Friday.

DRUGS

• A 55-year-old man picked up for an outstanding warrant at the 500 block of West Pear Street in Centralia just before 3 p.m. on Friday was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Daniel R. Randall, who has no address, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were dispatched to the 100 block of North Silver Street at about 11:20 p.m. on Sunday following a report of a window broken on a business while employees were inside.

• Chehalis police were called at 1 p.m. on Friday to the 1600 block of Southwest Snively Avenue following the discovery someone had broken into a vacant house. Inside, a hole had been made in a wall, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 29-year-old Packwood woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after her car crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming vehicle on U.S. Highway 12 just east of White Pass this morning. Maryann  Lee was traveling eastbound near milepost 153 in a 2000 Honda CRV, according to the Washington State Patrol. The 25-year-old Selah resident behind the wheel of the 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe involved was reportedly unhurt. Troopers called to the scene at about 7:45 a.m. indicate both vehicles were totaled. Lee was not wearing a seat belt, according to the state patrol.

ROAD RAGE ARREST

• A 28-year-old Centralia man was arrested after he allegedly showed another driver a handgun during a road rage incident at the 500 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia yesterday. Officers called about 12:15 p.m. arrested David J. Nelson for unlawful display of a firearm and then released him with a court date, according to the Centralia Police Department.

THEFT

• Centralia police are investigating  burglary in which merchandise was taken from a business on the 800 block of West Main Street following a 5:20 a.m. call this morning.

• Chehalis police were called about 10:40 p.m. yesterday for a vehicle prowl at the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue in which a canvas bag containing miscellaneous hand tools was stolen.

THEFT

• Chehalis police were called to the 2100 block of North National Avenue about 1:30 p.m. yesterday where an individual reported their purse was stolen after being left on a chair.

DRUGS

• A 50-year-old man contacted by police in connection with a report of shoplifting at approximately 12:15 p.m. yesterday was arrested for possession of methamphetamine on Harrison Avenue near Interstate 5 in Centralia. Brian A. Bedortha, a person without an address, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• Two of three teenagers traveling in a Pontiac Sunfire were injured when the car left the roadway and rolled at the 100 block of Forest Service Road 25 south of Randle yesterday. Troopers called to the scene about 5:15 p.m. indicated that the driver, Bryce L. Wood, and passenger Michael P. Hughes, both from Glenoma, were transported to Morton General Hospital. Passenger Steven A.  Edgar, of Randle, was reportedly unhurt. All are 19 years old, according to the Washington State Patrol. The driver was cited for wheels off the roadway and not having insurance, according to the state patrol. The vehicle was described as totaled.

• A Glock pistol was lost at a Centralia restaurant and then stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers called to the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at about 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday to take a report are investigating.

• Centralia police were called to the 1400 block of View Avenue about 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday to take a report of vehicle prowl in which items of clothing were taken.

• Centralia police say they found that someone damaged a washing machine and stole coins from inside of it at the 1000 block of North Scheuber Road when they responded to  a call about 2:40 p.m. on Monday.

• Someone forced entry to a building at the 200 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia and took food, musical items, money and other items, according to a report made to police about 1:40 p.m. on Monday.

• Centralia police were called to the 300 block of Linda Lane about 12:35 p.m. on Monday where someone had prowled two unlocked vehicles over the weekend.

• A license plate, documents and some assorted items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle at the 1400 block of View Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 6:50 p.m. on Sunday.

• A 41-year-old Tacoma woman was arrested after she allegedly assisted in the theft of items from a retail store on the 1300 block of Lum Road in Centralia where her male companion shoved a store employee as they attempted to keep the male from stealing merchandise shortly before 6:10 p.m. on Sunday. The male was not identified, according to the Centralia Police Department. Yolunda S. Rice was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree robbery, according to police. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charge and referred the case for municipal court.

• Chehalis police were called about 4:40 p.m. on Sunday to the 100 block of Southwest Lewis Street where someone had stolen a natural brown colored wicker love seat from a front porch. It had seat cushions which were still covered in plastic, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A bag of dog food was reported stolen from an unlocked parked vehicle on the 1200 block of B Street in Centralia at about 10:45 a.m. on Sunday.

• Centralia police were called to the 1400 block of Lewis Street about 10:15 a.m. on Sunday where a coin operated washing machine had been stolen, with a hose cut and water left running.

• Chehalis police were called about 2:10 p.m. on Friday after a shopper discovered someone had rummaged through her purse when she briefly set it down and turned away at the 1600 block of North National Avenue. Taken was $500 cash and a credit card, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Centralia police were called to the 1200 block of Marion Street about 8:10 a.m. on Friday where a victim reported a residential burglary in which her purse was taken.

BREAKING AND ENTERING

• A 39-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly forced his way into a home on the 600 block of Northwest Quincy Place where he was unwanted at about 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Kevin W. Harris, of Chehalis, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charge and referred the case for municipal court.

• Chehalis police were called about 8:30 a.m. on Monday to the 2000 block of Jackson Highway where someone had kicked in the back door to a house. Nothing appeared to be missing, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called to the 1700 block of Southwest Kelly Avenue about 8:20 a.m. on Friday for what appeared to be an attempted burglary at an unoccupied residence. A window screen was damaged, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

SCAM

• Centralia police were contacted by a resident  on Tuesday who reported they received an email from iTunes which was unopened and then received a phone call from someone claiming they were from Apple wanting access to their computer. This is a scam and no person should allow access to any electronic device over the phone, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ASSAULT

• Officers called about 2:55 a.m. on Saturday for a fight at the 1100 block of J Street in Centralia arrested Brandon R. Percy, 35, of Tacoma, for second-degree assault and Michael A. Post, 55 of Centralia, for fourth-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department. They were booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

DRUGS

• A 43-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after contact with an officer at the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at about 3:40 p.m. on Sunday. Kimberly R. Iverson was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 30-year-old Centralia woman picked up on an outstanding warrant at the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia at about 11:25 a.m. on Saturday was also allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine and heroin. Brittney N. Burgard was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 38-year-old Centralia man was arrested for attempting to elude after he allegedly drove away from an officer attempting to stop him but eventually was stopped with a so-called PIT maneuver early Monday morning in a case associate with a location on Main and Pearl street in Centralia. Rikardo H. St. Catherine was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

REMAINS DISCOVERED IN RURAL LEWIS COUNTY

• Detectives are investigating the discovery of human remains located near the 1900 block of Centralia-Alpha Road southeast of Chehalis area over the weekend. Deputies were called about 10 a.m. on Sunday by a person who said he found the remains while he was looking for recyclable refuse, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s office personnel, along with the Lewis County Coroner’s Office, are continuing to investigate the cause and manner of death, as well as attempting to identify the deceased, according to the sheriff’s office. Further details were not released due to the ongoing investigation. • Chehalis police were called to a building on the 1200 block of Northwest State Avenue about 4 p.m. yesterday where it appeared someone had been inside and some boxes were moved around, possibly related to an alarm activation days earlier.

THEFT CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called to the 1400 block of Johnson Road about 10:15 p.m. yesterday to take a report of the theft of the coin slide mechanism on several washing machines at an apartment complex.

• Centralia police were called about 3:25 p.m. yesterday to the 600 block of Centralia College Boulevard where a backpack was stolen. It contained a laptop, digital recorder, book and makeup, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called to the  400 block of South Buckner Street about 2:30 p.m. yesterday for a vehicle prowl.

COMPLAINT OF SEXUAL MISCONDUCT

• Chehalis police were called about 11:40 a.m. yesterday to the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street to take a report of alleged inappropriate touching involving two juveniles. The case is under investigation, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
