VEHICLE THEFT

• Chehalis police called to the 2100 block of North National Avenue about 8:35 a.m. yesterday learned someone had returned a Penske rental truck and it was missing it’s battery and turned out to have been stolen in Las Vegas.

• A 21-year-old Tumwater resident was arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of a stolen vehicle and methamphetamine during contact with police at the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia at about 12:45 a.m. yesterday. Colin C. Wolf was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

FRAUD

• Centralia police contacted about 11:45 a.m. yesterday in a case associated with the 1100 block of Marion Street took a report from an individual who said she received a phone bill that was nearly a thousand dollars.  The phone company was alerted and is investigating the charges, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police contacted an individual about 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday at the 700 block of J Street who reported she was duped into sharing her credit card information over the phone.

BREAK-IN

• Centralia police were called just before 9:30 p.m. yesterday to the 800 block of Johnson Road where an unknown person had cut the lock to an outbuilding and unlawfully entered the building.

ASSAULT

• Chehalis police were called to the 1200 block of Bishop Road about 1:10 p.m. yesterday after a man using a walker allegedly punched a nurse in the face. The victim chose not to press charges, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

HOUSE FIRE CENTRALIA

• The cause of a fire early yesterday morning that displaced three residents at the 2000 block of Seminary Hill Road in Centralia is under investigation, according to Riverside Fire Authority. Crews dispatched about 4:17 a.m. arrived to find flames showing through the roof of the home and quickly contained the blaze to the roof and kitchen, according to the fire department. The occupants had called 911 after seeing flames from the ceiling of the kitchen and were able to get out without injury, according to Fire Capt. Casey McCarthy. The Chehalis Fire Department, Lewis County Fire District 6, Thurston County Fire District 16 and the Red Cross assisted, according to McCarthy.

PACKAGE THEFT

• A package containing a new laptop computer was reported stolen from the 1800 block of Collison Street in Centralia at about 3:25 p.m. yesterday.

FIREARM THEFT

• Chehalis police were contacted by Onalaska resident about 12:25 p.m. yesterday who said he discovered last week his handgun was missing and believes it taken from his vehicle while he was at one of two stores on the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Reported stolen is a Heckler & Koch P30 9mm, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FORGERY

• Chehalis police were called about 11:15 a.m. yesterday about a possible case of forgery associated with the 600 block of Southwest William Avenue in which someone else may have signed for a package using the victim’s name. The incident is under investigation, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Centralia police were called to the 1500 block of Jensen Avenue about 8:10 a.m. yesterday for a vehicle prowl. The title and registration were stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• A 48-year-old Centralia resident arrested for trespassing at the 500 block of South Tower Avenue about 3 p.m. yesterday was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine, according to the Centralia Police Department. Jody L. Tobin was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

• Centralia police yesterday morning began investigating a report of rape occurring over the summer in a case associated with the 800 block of Johnson Road.

• Centralia police were called to the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue about 3:10 p.m. yesterday when a vehicle collided with a building. The damage was minor, according to the Centralia Police Department.

GUN THREATS ON THE ROAD

• A 22-year-old Ethel resident was arrested after he allegedly pointed a firearm from inside a vehicle at someone else traveling along the 1100 block of North National Avenue on Saturday night. Officers called about 7:30 p.m. were told it happened when the vehicle pulled alongside the victim vehicle, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Zakery P.F. Frizzell was contacted out in the county by deputies and booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree assault, according to police. He is to be released without charges pending further investigation.

• A 24-year-old man who allegedly pointed what appeared to a revolver at an individual who was in a vehicle directly behind the suspect at the 900 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday was subsequently located in his vehicle in Grand Mound and arrested. Austin C. Poeschel, of Centralia, was was booked into the Lewis County Jail for attempted first-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department. He is to be released without charges pending further investigation.

GREEN HILL SCHOOL

• Chehalis police arrested a student-inmate at Green Hill School for custodial assault after he allegedly threw a game controller at a staff member, hitting the adult in the knee. An officer was called just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday to the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street to investigate the incident that occurred earlier, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

BIG THEFT

• Centralia police yesterday morning arrested a 39-year-old Tenino woman who allegedly tried to steal more than $3,000 worth of merchandise from a store on the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. Officers called about 6:40 a.m. indicate that  Virginia M. Barrett provided a false name so she was booked into the Lewis County Jail for both identity theft and second-degree attempted theft. Charges are being referred to prosecutors of second-degree attempted theft for a 39-year-old Tenino man suspected of conspiring with Barrett to steal the items, according to the Centralia Police Department. The male suspect fled in a U-Haul rental box truck and was pursued by Centralia to the Scatter Creek Rest Area, where he lost police by driving into a wooded area, according to police. The box truck had been stolen from the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis, according to police. Barrett is to be released without charges pending further investigation.

CAR PROWL

• An individual reported about 1:10 p.m. yesterday that three juvenile males entered her unlocked vehicle and stole $20 at the 1300 block of Rose Street in Centralia.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 32-year-old man suffered severe head trauma when his ATV struck a dog and rolled along the 1400 block of Brown Road West outside of Chehalis on Saturday afternoon.  Firefighters were called at about 4:30 p.m. said the patient was unconscious and bleeding when they arrived. He was treated and then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to Lewis County Fire District 6. The man and a female had been traveling downhill and were both ejected, according to fire department spokesperson DJ Hammer. The female patient was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Hammer. Neither of them were wearing a helmet.

Toledo teen dies after getting hit by car on state Route 508

CHEHALIS – A 19-year-old Toledo resident was struck and killed by a vehicle on state Route 508 after dark yesterday evening, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers called at 6:20 p.m. to the area just east of Guerrier Road report that Jordan N. Alvarez Hill, died at the scene.

No charges are expected, according to the state patrol.

A 2003 Suzuki XL7 had been traveling eastbound and Alvarez Hill was walking in the roadway wearing dark clothing when he was hit, according to the state patrol.

The driver of the sport utility vehicle, 45-year-old Christopher L. Birnbaum of Napavine, was unhurt and his vehicle was able to be driven away from the scene, according to the investigating trooper.

Deputies and aid had been called at 6:05 p.m. for someone being “disorderly,” according to authorities. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office says the state patrol is conducting the investigation.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 59-year-old pedestrian sustained multiple traumatic injuries when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle just before 1 p.m. today at the 900 block of Alder Street in Centralia. He was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital and immediately put on a helicopter to be flown to  Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to Riverside Fire Authority. The fire department indicated the victim was standing next to his parked vehicle when he was hit.

• Centralia police assisted in the investigation and apprehension of a suspect that was involved in a police pursuit starting in Thurston County and ending in Centralia overnight. Officers called just before 2:30 a.m. to the area of Harrison Avenue and Interstate 5 learned the vehicle had collided with a fence and bushes and the driver had fled on foot, according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers checked the area for a couple hours and did not locate the suspect until around 8 a.m. today, according to police. An individual matching the suspect’s description was seen near the Nike Outlet store and was arrested then turned over to the Washington State Patrol.

• A 55-year-old man who sustained traumatic injuries in an ATV accident on Saturday outside of Centralia was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Firefighters were called at 11:50 a.m. to the 400 block of Manners Road and say the patient was transported by ambulance to a nearby field and then transferred to  helicopter. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to Riverside Fire Authority.

• A 35-year-old Tumwater resident was arrested for driving under the influence after the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and struck a fire hydrant at Reynolds and Belmont avenues at about 11 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Centralia Police Department. Paul V. Edwards was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

THREAT

• Centralia police were called to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road about 5 p.m. on Friday where a 26-year-old Chehalis man had allegedly threatened and then spit on a staff member. Gary B. Strand was booked into the Lewis County Jail for felony harassment, according to the Centralia Police Department.

INJURY

• Centralia police responded about 6:45 a.m. on Thursday to the 400 block of North Oak Street where a male was located passed out on a sidewalk with head injuries. It was not clear if he had been assaulted or had fallen, according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is under investigation, according to police.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• A $400 tool set was reported stolen by a business at the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia about 3:15 p.m. on Friday. After realizing the item was missing, a suspect was observed on surveillance video footage from several days earlier, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called about 10:45 .m. on Friday to the 300 block of North Gold Street where a red donation pot was taken by an employee and never returned. It was unclear at the time how much money may have been in the pot, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An individual reported that sometime during the night someone attempted to enter the building by tearing the screen off the window at the 2000 block of Borst Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police at about 10:50 a.m. on Thursday.

• Centralia police called about 5:15 a.m. on Thursday to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road began investigating a person who was found with suspected heroin and methamphetamine on his person.

LOST AND FOUND

• Deputies were called twice yesterday and once last night for people missing in the east end of the county. At 4:37 p.m. and again at 5 p.m., two separate mushroom pickers were reported missing in the woods, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A man who had gotten disoriented was found after a few hours and walked out, according to the sheriff’s office. A female walked out within a few hours as well, according to sheriff’s Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey. There was another 911 call at 12:50 a.m. about a person possibly missing from the Packwood area, but it turned out they just didn’t have a phone signal and were not missing, according to Kimsey.

VEHICLE THEFT

• Centralia police took a report about 1 p.m. yesterday of a vehicle stolen from a residence on the 1700 block of Kresky Avenue. Missing is a 2004 Toyota Sequoia with a license plate reading ADW 9638, according to the Centralia Police Department. The vehicle was taken between Sept. 9 and Oct. 15, according to police.

DRUGS

• Chehalis police were called to the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street about 1:35 p.m. yesterday for a student in the office suspected of having marijuana. There was not really enough to even test, so it’s unclear what happens next, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

POSSIBLE VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were called about 5:05 p.m. yesterday about what looked like an impact fracture on the window of a vehicle at the 200 block of Alfred Street. It was not apparent if somebody did something to it or if maybe it happened as a result of a change in temperature, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Centralia police were called about 9:15 p.m. yesterday to the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue when a motorist allegedly rear ended a vehicle and left the scene. Officers subsequently arrested 36-year-old Jesse F. Bowen for driving with suspended license as well as hit and run, according to the Centralia Police Department. Bowen was issued the citation and then released, according to police.

• A 35-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for driving under the influence after she allegedly rear ended another vehicle at the 1900 block of Harrison Avenue just before 8:50 a.m. yesterday. Aurora S. Fulmer, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

HUNTER’S DEATH UNDER INVESTIGATION

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said yesterday they are investigating the death of a Tacoma man in the Ashford area from over the weekend. Two men had been in the area hunting and one returned to their truck, saying he was tired, according to the sheriff’s office. When his partner got back to the vehicle, he found the 40-year-old deceased in the cab of the truck and called 911 about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey said. Nothing appeared to be suspicious, according to Kimsey. The sheriff’s office is awaiting information from the coroner’s office, according to Kimsey. The Lewis County Coroner’s Office today identified the hunter as Trinity Drennen and said a determination on his cause of death is pending the results of toxicology tests.

MISSING WOMAN IN FOREST TURNS UP SAFE

• An overdue mushroom picker reported missing about 4:25 p.m. on Saturday in the area of Packwood Lake off of Snyder Road walked out to a road and was found by family about 5:30 p.m. the same day. The 44-year-old woman from King County was uninjured, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

WATER RESCUE

• A Zodiac inflatable boat was deployed into the Chehalis River near Galvin after an approximately 4:20 p.m. 911 call on Sunday when a teenage boy was swept into the water. The 17-year-old had been fishing off of Sheridan Road and as he was crossing the river, got “swept out” but was able to make it to the bank, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A witness called for help and deputies, Riverside Fire Authority and the Chehalis Fire Department responded, according to the sheriff’s office. The young man was picked up and then transported to Providence Centralia Hospital to checked out for any possible injuries, according to sheriff’s Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey.

BURGLARY WITH VANDALISM

• Police were called to the 1200 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia about 4:40 p.m. yesterday where someone had broken into a residence and spray painted on the walls.

THEFT

• Centralia police were contacted about 5:55 p.m. yesterday to take a report of medication stolen in a case associated with the 200 block of West Reynolds Avenue.

FAKE BILL

• Chehalis police were called to a fast food establishment on the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue about 2:30 p.m. yesterday after a customer in the drive though attempted to pay with a counterfeit $100 bill. She came up with another way to pay for her item(s) but officers are investigating, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

UNDERAGE DRINKING

• Centralia police called about 8:25 a.m. yesterday to the 800 block of Eshom Road are referring are referring cases to prosecutors involving three youngsters for charges of minor in possession of alcohol and supplying liquor to minors.

VANDALISM

• Vandalism to a “storage box” was reported to Centralia police about 7:45 a.m. today at the 1200 block of West First Street.
