KNIFE DRAWN

• When Chehalis police were called to come to the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue about 2:50 p.m. yesterday to tell a group of people reportedly smoking marijuana in front of a building to move along, an officer came upon two people getting ready to fight, according to the Chehalis Police Department. One of them allegedly drew a knife and threatened to harm the other, according to police. He, 26-year-old Samuel T. McQuigg, from Centralia, was arrested for second-degree assault and malicious harassment and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according o police.

STOLEN CITY WATER TRUCK USED IN JEWELRY STORE HEIST

• Centralia police reported this morning it was their city water truck that was stolen from where it was parked in an enclosed area on the 1200 block of North Tower Avenue during the night and then recovered in Chehalis yesterday morning. Chehalis police had been called at 3:11 a.m. yesterday after a pickup truck was used to break out the windows at a jewelry store the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and subsequently located the suspect truck at Southwest First Street and Scott Place in Chehalis. Police have not yet received a detailed list of what items were stolen from the store but do know that bracelet charm beads were among the merchandise missing from the break-in.
