ASSAULT

• A 53-year-old Winlock man was arrested for second-degree assault after deputies were called to the 600 block of Tennessee Road about 10:30 p.m. on Thursday because he allegedly choked his 43-year-old brother until he could not breathe. Russell M. Schellong was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported on Friday they arrested a 50-year-old Vader man after he allegedly grabbed a 64-year-old woman and threw her down onto a woodpile and threw a 44-year-old woman against a shed at the 900 block of D Street in Vader. Deputies called about 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday learned Jeffrey A. Beaber had been consuming a large amount of alcohol, according to the sheriff’s office. The first woman was hospitalized and discovered she had three cracked ribs, sheriff’s Capt. Curt Spahn said. Beaber had left prior to their arrival, but was located and arrested for second-degree assault, according to Spahn.

BURGLARY

• Centralia police were called to the 2700 block of Borst Avenue at 3:40 p.m. on Thursday to take a report that an unknown male came into a residence and removed $50 from the bedroom two weeks earlier.

VEHICLE THEFT

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported on Friday that sometime between Tuesday and 5 a.m. on Wednesday, someone stole a maroon four-door 1995 Honda Accord from the 3000 block of Ives Road in Centralia.

• Someone stole a black utility trailer during the night from the 700 block of East Third Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. It was 10 feet by 13 feet in size, according to the Centralia Police Department.

FRAUD

• Centralia police were called about 4:15 p.m. on Friday to the 1100 block of Creekside Court where an individual reported somebody used his information to open account and spent over $700. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue about 3:15 p.m. on Thursday regarding the receipt of three counterfeit $100 bills.

• Someone passed two counterfeit $100 bills at a business on the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

THEFT

• Police called to the 300 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia about 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday took a report of someone syphoning gas from multiple vehicles of a car lot.

VEHICLE PROWL

• A wallet was taken from an unlocked truck at the 1200 block of Mellen Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 12:40 p.m. on Friday.

• Centralia police were called just before 9 a.m. on Friday regarding tools taken from a possibly unlocked truck at the 1800 block of North Pearl Street.

DRUGS

• Two individuals allegedly caught using drugs inside a vehicle when a police officer checked on a report of a suspicious vehicle at the 700 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia about 5:15 p.m. on Friday were arrested for possession of heroin. Makayla A. Brown, 20, and Darryl D. Gauthier, 28, both of Winlock, were booked into Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 45-year-old Chehalis man getting booked into the Lewis County Jail from court was allegedly found with suspected methamphetamine in his clothing at about 10:15 a.m. on Thursday. Jerry L. Bostwick was arrested for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Centralia police called to a residence at the 100 block of South Tower Avenue for an unknown person inside a house about 7:30 a.m. on Thursday arrested two people for outstanding warrants and one of them for allegedly having drugs on him. Adam I. McGowan, 26 of Mossyrock, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and allegedly provided a false name to police, according to the Centralia Police Department. Breianna I. Eberly, 30 of Centralia, and McGowan were both booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• Deputies invited into a Winlock home on the 2700 block of Highway 603 when conducting a welfare check of three children, found 80 marijuana plants in various stages of growth at around noon on Wednesday. Arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful use of a building for growing marijuana and booked into the Lewis County Jail was 26-year-old Cameron J. Poole, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A case was forwarded to prosecutors for evaluation of the same charges regarding his 45-year-old girlfriend, although she denied involvement, according to the sheriff’s office. The children were turned over to Child Protective Services, sheriff’s Capt. Curt Spahn said.

SEX CRIME

• A 23-year-old Centralia man allegedly found in a parked vehicle engaging in a sex act with a 15-year-old girl was arrested overnight in Centralia. Officers responding about 12:30 a.m. today to the  700 block of East Locust Avenue booked Francisco DJ Salzar Olivera into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree child molestation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ALMOST FIRE

• Firefighters called to an apartment at Third and Market in Chehalis about 9 a.m. on Thursday for smoke found a power strip with extension cords plugged into it and advised the resident of the dangers of overloading circuits that way.

• Two people were hospitalized after a head-on crash the 2600 block of Airport Road in Chehalis just before 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. A 21-year-old female driver of Centralia was traveling northbound in a 2012 Nissan Sentra crossed the center line colliding with a 2004 Suzuki Forenza operated by a 22-year-old male of Centralia traveling southbound, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. She had possible internal injuries and he had broken bones, according to the Chehalis Fire Department. The driver of the Nissan was cited for second-degree negligent driving, according to the sheriff’s office. A crew had to use spreaders to separate the vehicles before they could be towed.

WANTED MAN APPREHENDED IN OREGON

• After conducting surveillance for a fugitive near Grants Pass, Oregon, local law enforcement got a tip that panned out this morning and arrested without incident a 61-year-old man with ties to Chehalis and Winlock accused of first-degree child molestation. Jimmy D. Mathus was found just after 6 am. today at a residence on a secluded piece of property where he had been staying with relatives, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was to be booked into the Josephine County Jail and will be extradited to Washington, Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey said. The sheriff’s office was assisted by officers with the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the state Department of Corrections, Kimsey said. The felony warrant was issued last year.

ATTEMPTED BREAK-IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday for a possible attempted burglary to a residence on the 1400 block of Lewis Street. The homeowner arrived home to find their window air conditioning unit was moved, according to the Centralia Police Department.

FRAUD

• Centralia police were called by an individual at the 900 block of Landing Way about 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday who reported unauthorized purchases had been attempted over the Internet from their checking account. The bank flagged the transactions as fraud and contacted the account holder, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called to the 1300 block of South Gold Street just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday to take a report of someone opening a checking and savings account, depositing fraudulent checks and then withdrawing the money.

• A 49-year-old Centralia resident was arrested after allegedly becoming combative and not letting staff perform their duties at the 900 block of South Scheuber Road in Centralia, following an approximately 12:20 a.m. call there today. Shannon K. Kilgore was booked into the Lewis County Jail for interfering with a health care facility, according to the Centralia Police Department.

EXPLOSIVE FOUND DURING TRAFFIC STOP

• A traffic stop for no license plate in Winlock early yesterday turned up suspected methamphetamine in the driver’s pants’ pocket as well as a backpack containing an improvised explosive device. It happened about 1:25 a.m. at the 200 block of Southwest Kerron Avenue, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Thomas J. Murphy, 37, of Ethel, was found to be driving with a suspended license, was searched and then asked for his backpack from his vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. Inside the pack was an item consisting of two small taped-together cylinders with their fuses combined, sheriff’s Capt. Curt Spahn said. The Washington State Patrol was summoned and the item defused, Spahn said. Murphy was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of an explosive device and possession of meth, according to Spahn.

PICK AXE, FIREARM THREAT

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday they arrested a 53-year-old  man after two individuals arrived home at the 100 block of Cattle Drive in Onalaska and discovered a pick axe stuck in the front door of their trailer and a large amount of clothing from inside thrown into a fire pit. Several deputies called to the scene about 5:30 p.m. on Friday were told the suspect had a firearm and threatened to kill them, according to he sheriff’s office. Ronald J. Roy, 53, of Onalaska, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for residential burglary, felony harassment and unlawful possession of a firearm, sheriff’s Capt. Curt Spahn said.

• Chehalis police were called to a residence on the 1700 block of Snively Avenue about 7:45 a.m. on Monday following the discovery of a broken window and signs of a burglary. A list of missing items has not yet been compiled, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Someone stole car washing items from a front porch on the 500 block of South Gold Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

• Chehalis police were contacted about 12:25 p.m. on Monday by an individual who reported someone opened an account for television services at a location in Chehalis using the caller’s social security number.

• An individual reported the theft of power tools from a shop building at the 1300 block of Kayu Lane in Centralia at 10:50 a.m. on Monday.

• Centralia police were called to the 200 block of East Second Street at 9:20 a.m. on Monday where a business found tools missing and graffiti on the building.

•  A large metal anchor – yard ornament – was reported stolen from in front of a business at B and Third streets in Centralia, according to a report made to Centralia police about 12:15 p.m. on Sunday.

• A deputy called to the 600 block of Nick Road in Centralia was told an 82-year-old man found two doors to his residence damaged and forced open. It happened between May 11 and Friday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Nothing appeared to be missing, according to the sheriff’s office.

• At about 10:25 a.m. on Friday, a business  at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis reported it had taken in a counterfeit $100 bill.

• A brown leather Western saddle for barrel racing was reported missing from a storage unit on the 900 block of Southwest William Avenue in Chehalis about 10:40 a.m. on Friday. It has a 16-inch seat and silver trim, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

DRUGS

• A 43-year-old Mossyrock woman detained for suspected shoplifting last night at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis was arrested for a warrant and a drug violation when a search turned up suspected methamphetamine. An officer called just after 9 p.m. on Monday booked Lisa M. Fish into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 31-year-old Mount Vernon woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance when contacted by an officer at the 900 block of North Tower Avenue about 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Sarah R. Newman was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 19-year-old Centralia resident pulled over for speeding on northbound Interstate 5‘s collector-distributor lane offramp near milepost 82 about 6:50 p.m. on Sunday was arrested for possession of marijuana and driver under twenty-one consuming marijuana, according to the Centralia Police Department. Savannah DJ Carlson was issued a citation and released with a court date, according to police.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called to the 300 block of Prairie Rose Lane about 6:35 p.m. on Sunday to take a report of damage to the community mail box.  The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called to the 700 block of Yew Street in Centralia about 8:15 a.m. on Sunday following the discovery a large rock had been thrown through the windshield of a parked car sometime during the night.

• Centralia police were notified about 11:20 p.m. on Sunday of a gas powered leaf blower found in the parking lot of the Seminary Hill Nature Trails at the 1000 block of Seminary Hill Road in Centralia.

• A 32-year-old Centralia driver was cited after the flatbed trailer – carrying a sport utility vehicle – he was hauling on northbound Interstate 5 in Clark County separated from his vehicle and rolled onto its side blocking two lanes on Sunday afternoon. Troopers called about 2:45 p.m. to the scene near milepost 18 determined Noah P.  Kennard had lost control when the trailer began to whip and oscillate because Kennard was exceeding a reasonable safe speed, according to the Washington State Patrol. He was injured but declined aid, according to the state patrol.

• A 36-year-old man was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with a leg injury after his motorcycle struck a street sign and concrete block along the 500 block of Twin Oaks Road west of Chehalis on Saturday, according to Lewis County Fire District 6. District 6’s DJ Hammer tweeted the wreck was reported just after 1 p.m. and that the patient had been wearing a helmet.

• At least one person was transported to the hospital with hip pain following a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at Harrison and Belmont avenues in Centralia just before 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BREAK-IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called just before noon on Saturday to a discovered burglary at a residence on the 1100 block of Centralia College Boulevard. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police took a report from the 300 block of West Plum Street about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday of the theft of a “texture” machine from a job site, that had occurred a week earlier.

AUTO THEFT

• Centralia police reported on Sunday that a white 2002 Cadillac Escalade reported stolen the morning before from a parking lot on the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue was subsequently recovered near Eugene, Oregon. The vehicle was involved in a pursuit with law enforcement and the driver was captured by a police K9 after he fled the vehicle, according to the Centralia Police Department. The driver had not yet been positively identified, according to police.

• Centralia police were called at 8:10 a.m. on Friday regarding mail stolen from a mailbox at the 1200 block of West First Street.

• Chehalis police on Thursday responded regarding recovered stolen property associated with the 300 block of West Main Street.

• Chehalis police werE called about a reported rape associated with the 1500 block of Rice Road about 4:20 p.m. on Thursday. Further details were unavailable.

DRUGS

• A 45-year-old Longview resident was arrested after he was contacted by police at about 11:35 a.m. on Friday at the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue in Centralia. Kenneth L. Farris was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of methamphetamine and heroin, according to the Centralia Police Department. A case is being referred for driving under the influence, according to police.

• A 38-year-old Centralia woman contacted by police after an 8:20 p.m. call Thursday to the 800 block of Harrison Avenue was arrested for possession of heroin. Crystal L. Harris was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department. A case of two counts of third-degree theft was to be referred to prosecutors as well, according to police.

• An 18-year-old Morton resident picked up for a juvenile warrant about 11:20 a.m. on Thursday at Main and Silver streets in Centralia was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine, according to the Centralia Police Department. Darren T.S. Brewer was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

ARSON

• Chehalis police are conducting an arson investigation in connection with two fires set outside the Darigold plant on the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue on Thursday evening. The damage was minimal. Firefighters called about 7:30 p.m. found one fire had been set at the south end of the building against a masonry wall, where flames had extended into an adjoining wood-constructed compressor room, according to the Chehalis Fire Department. A fire on the west side of the structure was comprised of two-by-fours and clothing, Fire Investigator Jay Birley said. The fires were extinguished with a little water, Birley said.

• A 23-year-old Centralia resident was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a single-vehicle rollover wreck on the northbound collector-distributor lane for Interstate 5 near exit 81 in Centralia yesterday, while his two passengers were reportedly unhurt, according to the Washington State Patrol. Troopers called to the scene just before 11 a.m. indicate the block Honda Accord was totaled. Jose A. Escamilla was driving, accelerated at a high rate and then lost control of his car, which veered to the left before rolling and coming to rest on the shoulder, according to the state patrol. The investigating trooper indicates Escamilla was suspected to be driving under the influence and without a valid license. He faces possible charges including reckless endangerment, according to the state patrol. Uninjured was a 10-month-old girl and 41-year-old Lorenzo W. Tagle, both of Centralia, according to the patrol. All occupants were seat belted or otherwise restrained.

THEFT

• A 72-year-old Toledo-area man reported yesterday that approximately $2,400 worth of tools and equipment had been removed from his farm on the 200 block of Sareault Road since November. Items missing from the property include a 2001 Honda generator, a Miller welder, a micrometer set, a 20-volt cordless impact wrench, a used car battery and a gas can, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Police were called to the 800 block of Ham Hill Road in Centralia at 9:30 a.m. yesterday where a white 1994 Honda Accord was stolen overnight.

• Centralia police were called about 12:45 p.m. yesterday to the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road to take a report that money was stolen from a person’s room.

DRUGS

• A 36-year-old Olympia woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after her companion was detained in connection with a shoplifting incident at the 1400 block Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday. Jessica D. Haskins was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Kristopher W. Laseke, 20, of Centralia, was arrested for reckless driving about 11:15 p.m. yesterday after being observed going 50 mph over the posted speed limit near South Gold and Pear streets in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department.
