ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 23-year-old Centralia resident was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a single-vehicle rollover wreck on the northbound collector-distributor lane for Interstate 5 near exit 81 in Centralia yesterday, while his two passengers were reportedly unhurt, according to the Washington State Patrol. Troopers called to the scene just before 11 a.m. indicate the block Honda Accord was totaled. Jose A. Escamilla was driving, accelerated at a high rate and then lost control of his car, which veered to the left before rolling and coming to rest on the shoulder, according to the state patrol. The investigating trooper indicates Escamilla was suspected to be driving under the influence and without a valid license. He faces possible charges including reckless endangerment, according to the state patrol. Uninjured was a 10-month-old girl and 41-year-old Lorenzo W. Tagle, both of Centralia, according to the patrol. All occupants were seat belted or otherwise restrained.

THEFT

• A 72-year-old Toledo-area man reported yesterday that approximately $2,400 worth of tools and equipment had been removed from his farm on the 200 block of Sareault Road since November. Items missing from the property include a 2001 Honda generator, a Miller welder, a micrometer set, a 20-volt cordless impact wrench, a used car battery and a gas can, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Police were called to the 800 block of Ham Hill Road in Centralia at 9:30 a.m. yesterday where a white 1994 Honda Accord was stolen overnight.

• Centralia police were called about 12:45 p.m. yesterday to the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road to take a report that money was stolen from a person’s room.

DRUGS

• A 36-year-old Olympia woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after her companion was detained in connection with a shoplifting incident at the 1400 block Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday. Jessica D. Haskins was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Kristopher W. Laseke, 20, of Centralia, was arrested for reckless driving about 11:15 p.m. yesterday after being observed going 50 mph over the posted speed limit near South Gold and Pear streets in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department. He was issued a citation and then released, according to police.
