FIRE CALL TO HOSPITAL

• The radiology department at Providence Centralia Hospital was evacuated for approximately one hour last night when it was discovered an MRI equipment room contained a large amount of smoke. Firefighters called at 10:22 p.m. to the the campus at the 900 block of South Scheuber Road checked the building to ensure the problem was confined to the one room, according to Riverside Fire Authority. There was no damage to the building and responders determined the likely cause of the smoke was overheated electrical equipment, according to Fire Capt. Casey McCarthy.

BAD CHECK

• A 42-year-old Centralia woman was arrested yesterday after allegedly trying to purchase merchandise from a business knowing there was no money in the account. Officers called about 3:25 p.m. to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue booked Sharon A. Todd into the Lewis County Jail for unlawful issuance of bad checks, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Chehalis police were called to the 200 block of West Main Street about 4:55 p.m. yesterday where someone had broken into a vehicle and left something broken off in the ignition. Nothing appeared to be missing, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VANDALISM

• An individual reported damage to a door of their residence at the 1000 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia at about 9:40 a.m. yesterday, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• The Morton Police Department reported yesterday that around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, an officer arrested an Aberdeen resident for attempting to elude, possession of heroin with the intent to manufacture, possession with intent to deliver another controlled substance and “escape” from community custody. Jose Guadalupe Ambrocio, 31, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to Morton police.

MISSING BIKE

• The Morton Police Department reported yesterday that an officer took a report last Wednesday of a bicycle stolen from a garage at the 300 block of Mossyrock Avenue in Mossyrock. Missing is a blue and/or teal-colored NEXT brand mountain bike with 24-inch rims, according to police.

• The Morton Police Department reported yesterday they are waiting for (unspecified) information in order to investigate a possible hit and run involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at the 800 block of Main Avenue that was reported last Thursday at 5:16 p.m.

• Officers called to the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue about 11:25 p.m. on Sunday arrested a 24-year-old Centralia man because he allegedly chased somebody with a knife. Nicholas D. Calosso was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police called to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road about 12:05 a.m. on Sunday because an 18-year-old patient allegedly assaulted a nurse booked Brycen A. Friedley, of Chehalis, into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• An individual reported at about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday that a solar powered motion light taken from his front porch on the 1500 block of Belmont Avenue in Centralia.

• A debit card was reported stolen about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday in a case associated with the 100 block of West Magnolia Street in Centralia.

• Chehalis police were called to the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue about 7 p.m. on Saturday following the discovery a vehicle parked behind a building had been prowled. The glove box was cleaned out and the gas door was left open, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FAKE BILL

• Chehalis police were called to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue about 5:25 p.m. on Saturday because a customer getting shopping cart found a counterfeit $100 bill and turned it in.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were called about 8:45 a.m. on Friday following the discovery that someone had broken out the driver’s side window of a vehicle in a city parking lot at the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue. Nothing appeared to be missing, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VEHICLE THEFT

• A truck and trailer were reported stolen from a motel parking lot at the 1200 block of Alder Street about 7:35 a.m. today.

• At about 11:30 p.m. on Thursday an officer observed a stolen car in a parking lot at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis and arrested the occupant. The 2007 Chrysler Sebring was missing from Pasco, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Because a clear bag of a crystal substance was also found, Andres Luna-Gonzales, 43, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of methamphetamine, according to police.

• Centralia police were called about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday when an individual heard their car start up and drive away from the 3000 block of Russell Road. Stolen was a black 1998 Honda Civic with a license plate reading BLS 8712, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ALDER STREET PROWLING

• A gas powered weed eater and a jump-box were stolen from under a carport on the 1100 block of Alder Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 8:10 a.m. on Thursday.

• Centralia police were called about 7:50 a.m. on Thursday to the 1100 block of Alder Street after a victim discovered the rear hatch of the vehicle open and a car stereo amplifier missing.

SWITCHED PLATES

• Centralia police were called about 10:25 a.m. on Thursday by an individual who reported the license plate was stolen from the their vehicle and replaced with a plate from a stolen vehicle in a case associated with the 200 block of North Ash Street.

TRICKSTER FAILS

• A scam was reported about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday in which a Centralia resident said they were told they had won a new car and cash. They had been sent a small locked safe and then contacted by a person who told them they had to send a check for $5,000 to get the safe access code to claim the prizes, according to the Centralia Police Department. The potential victim did not send money but instead notified police. It is unknown at this time where the scam originated from, according to police.

BAD BILL

• Centralia police were contacted about 9:30 a.m. on Thursday by a business on the 1000 block of Kresky Avenue where a counterfeit $100 bill had been passed.

BAD BEHAVIOR

• Cherish F. Willis, 19, and Journi R. M. Trask, 21, both of Centralia, were each arrested for fighting in public after officers were called to their workplace at the 1200 block of Alder Street for the report of a possible assault at about 6:40 p.m. on Thursday. They were then released, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• Chehalis police were called to the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday because two juveniles had allegedly brought green vegetable material and paraphernalia to school. The items are being sent out for testing, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

ASSAULT

• After being dispatched about 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday to the area of North Gold and Roswell streets for a report of a woman screaming for help, arriving officers located a female being assaulted by a male. During the investigation, the suspect was identified as David A. Stallman, 25, of Anderson Island, who was arrested and then booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BREAK-IN CHEHALIS

• Chehalis police were called to the 700 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue at 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday for a burglary in which forced entry was made and five pairs of size 11 Nike shoes were stolen. The loss is estimated at $1,200, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called to the 1700 block of Southwest Fair Avenue about 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday for a residential burglary in which a bedroom had been ransacked.

• Chehalis police were called to the 10 block of Southwest 10th Street about 1:04 p.m. on Tuesday for a burglary.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• Chehalis police were called about 1:35 a.m. today for a vehicle prowl at the 200 block of Southwest Alfred Street.

• Centralia police were called about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday to the 800 block of West Pear Street on a report of an interrupted vehicle prowl. The victim was unable to provide a suspect description but said a white extended cab pickup with loud exhaust fled the scene, according to the Centralia Police Department. No property was stolen, according to police.

• Chehalis police were called to a shoplifting incident at the 1600 block Northwest Louisiana Avenue about 7 p.m. on Wednesday in which earlier in the day, a male allegedly pushed a shopping cart out of the store containing two televisions and Nerf guns, all not paid for. Once the suspect was identified and police realized he had been previous trespassed from the business, a case for a charge of second-degree burglary was forwarded to prosecutors for evaluation, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday regarding a $100 fraud involving an individual’s account in a case associated with the 700 block of Southeast Washington Avenue.

• Centralia police were called about 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday to take a report of a possible check fraud in a case associated with the 2400 block of Leisure Lane.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were contacted about 6 p.m. on Tuesday regarding the glass at two bus stops having been shot out, one at Cascade Avenue and Ninth Street and the other at Southwest William Avenue and 13th Street, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

KNIFE FRIGHT

• Centralia police were called about 6:45 p.m. yesterday because a 50-year-old Centralia man allegedly presented a knife during an argument and made threats to cut the victims throat in a case associated with the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. Royce A. Blankenship was arrested for second-degree assault and booked into the Lewis County Jail,  according to the Centralia Police Department. There were no injuries during the altercation, according to police.

• Chehalis police were called about a fraud about 7:20 p.m. yesterday in a case associated with the 1500 block of South Market Boulevard.

News brief: Packwood crash victim’s name released

CHEHALIS – The Lewis County Coroner’s Office today released the name of the 29-year-old woman who was killed when she was ejected from a Jeep in a rollover collision north of Packwood.

Corrine R. Lubbers, of Packwood, died from an injury to her neck, according to Coroner Warren McLeod.

Deputies called about 12:04 a.m. on Friday to the 100 block of Cannon Road noted neither Lubbers or the 22-year-old Packwood man who was driving had been wearing seat belts. He was unhurt, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver told deputies his vehicle had a mechanical issue and left the road, according to the sheriff’s office.

• A 39-year-old Olympia man was arrested after he allegedly struck an officer during the course of an investigation at the 1100 block of View Avenue in Centralia at about 6 p.m. on Saturday. Andrew E. Scott was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• Centralia police were called about 6:25 p.m. on Sunday to a residence on the 1700 block of Kresky Avenue where an individual reported noticing a lot of items were missing from his property. He said his belongings had been taken sometime since Tuesday evening, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called about 1:35 a.m. on Sunday to the 500 block of West Fourth Street regarding a stolen blue 2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup with license plate B28038X.

• Centralia police were called about 1:10 p.m. on Saturday by an individual who reported a check stolen and cashed by an unknown individual in a case associated with the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue.

• Centralia police were called to the 1200 block of Lum Road about 3:50 p.m. on Friday to take a report that a female stole a purse containing the victim’s debit card.

• Chehalis police were called about a fraud about 12:30 p.m. on Friday in a case associated with the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street.

• Chehalis police were contacted about 8:30 a.m. on Friday to take a report of a ring stolen the day before at its owner’s workplace on the 2600 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue.

• A fake $100 bill was passed at a business by a female suspect at the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 2:25 a.m. on Friday.

• Chehalis police were called to the 500 block of Northwest Ohio Avenue about 7:45 p.m. on Thursday by an individual who said they had been burglarized. It appeared that wasn’t the case, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• An unknown suspect used another individual’s information to open credit account which was only discovered after the victim was denied a loan by a financial institution, according to a report made to Centralia police about 8:45 a.m. on Thursday in a case associated with the 1300 block of Crescent Avenue.

BOOZE IN THE BUILDING

• Chehalis police were called to the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street about 10:25 a.m. on Thursday because a student allegedly brought alcohol to school.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 54-year-old man walking in the road on the southbound onramp to Interstate 5 at Grand Mound was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol. Troopers called at 1:13 a.m. said he was hit by a Nissan Altima getting on the freeway at the milepost 88 interchange. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Rochester, was injured, but not transported, according to the state patrol. No charges are expected, according to the investigating trooper. The scene was blocked for more than three hours.

• Two people were hospitalized after their westbound Toyota Prius was struck by an eastbound truck that attempted to turn left failing to yield the right of way on U.S. Highway 12 at Stowell Road on Sunday. Troopers called to the scene about 1:45 p.m.  indicated 56-year-old Larry M. Bowen, of Toledo, who was behind the wheel of a 1999 Dodge 2500 pickup, was unhurt. James D. McClanahan, 78, of Mossyrock, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His passenger in the Prius, Audrey M. McClanahan, 78, of Mossyrock, was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol. Both vehicles were described as totaled. Bowen was cited for not having insurance and for failing to yield, according to the stae patrol.

• A vehicle that had fled from police during a traffic stop was later located abandoned in an alleyway near Umpqua Bank in Centralia on Thursday, according to the Centralia Police Department. The suspect vehicle had struck a metal building causing minor damage to the siding and gutter downspout, according to police.

• Officers were called to the 500 block of South Tower Avenue about 1:15 p.m. on Thursday when a vehicle struck a parked boat trailer while traveling northbound. The impact bent the trailer neck and also caused the trailer to strike pedestrians who were standing nearby, according to the Centralia Police Department. Both pedestrians had minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene, according to police.
