THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports today a deputy was called to a burglary at the 1000 block of South Military Road in Winlock where fishing gear and other items were stolen from a garage between 1 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on Monday.

• Centralia police were called to the 1000 block of Eckerson Road about 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday regarding multiple “folding” bicycles that had been stolen during the night.

• A deputy was called to the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue in Centralia for a burglary to a storage unit in which a Toshiba flat screen television, high-value shoes, clothing, two vintage lamps and other property were stolen sometime since February. A lock was damaged and the loss is estimated at $4,000, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported on Tuesday that someone stole 50 sheets of four-foot by eight-foot plywood and a bag of screws from inside a doorless barn at the 400 block of Highland Valley Road outside of Morton between 6 p.m. on June 18 and 6 a.m. on Saturday.

• Centralia police were called to the 2000 block of North Pearl Street about 10:25 p.m. on Monday where an individual reported that sometime since May 10 an unknown person entered a residence and stole two firearms.

• Chehalis police were called to the 100 block of Northwest State Avenue about 1:15 p.m. on Monday to investigate a burglary.

• Chehalis police were called to the 200 block of Northwest Quincy Place about 4:30 p.m. on Monday regarding a burglary.

NOT THEFT

• Chehalis police were called about 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday by an individual who reported a radiator he had been working on disappeared from an alley at the 100 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue. It turns out a scrapper had been given permission to pick up some items from the alley and accidentally took the radiator also, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VANDALISM

• A window was broken out of a vehicle sometime during the night at the 900 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

• Centralia police were called to the 1400 Harrison Avenue about noon on Monday where a vehicle had been vandalized during the night.

OTHER

• Chehalis police were called to the 1400 block of Northeast North End Avenue about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday to investigate possible trespassing.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 73-year-old Chehalis driver was issued an infraction for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk after officers were called about 5 p.m. on Tuesday to South Market Boulevard and 11th Street for where a person on foot got hit by a vehicle. Further details were not available from the Chehalis Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called at 2:42 p.m. on Tuesday and told a motorist in the area of the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street near the park was acting like a police officer waiting to catch someone, with a police hat in the window and a light bar across the window of an “ex-police car.” A spokesperson for the Chehalis Police Department said no report was available to describe if an officer contacted the suspicious man.

DRIVER THINKS WILD DOGS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS INJURY

• A 36-year-old motorist knocked on a door along the 300 block of Big Hanaford Road about 3:50 a.m. yesterday to say he struck a deer and when he got out to check, he was attacked by a pack of wild coyotes. Sloan D. Schoffstall had a bite mark, or an abrasion, on his right hand but also displayed obvious signs he’d been consuming alcohol, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested for driving under the influence and when he was searched, a pair of brass knuckles were found in his back pocket, according to the sheriff’s office. He was found to be driving with a suspended license, Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey said. Deputies concluded it was possible he was attacked by a neighborhood dog or something else, but not a pack of coyotes, Kimsey said. Schoffstall was booked into the Lewis County Jail, Kimsey said.

DRIVE-BY SIGN SHOOTING

• Four young men from Cowlitz County were detained following reports they were driving around shooting county road signs in the area of Howe and Spencer roads near Toledo early yesterday morning. A deputy responding just before 1 a.m. located the suspect Chevrolet Silverado at the 4900 block of Jackson Highway, found four occupants in the vehicle and after interviews, arrested three of them for reckless endangerment and then released them, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Arrested were William Hogg, 19, from Longview; Austin Gillum, 21, of Castle Rock; and the driver, Shane Hummel, 22, also of Castle Rock, Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey said. A 20-year-old Castle Rock resident was the only one who apparently did not fire one of the two guns found, Kimsey said.

ASSAULT

• A 37-year-old Centralia man was arrested for second-degree assault for allegedly choking the mother of his children and denied her leaving a residence at the 1300 block of Logan Street in Centralia early Saturday morning. Officers called about 12:10 a.m. booked Jesse C. Sheldon into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A juvenile who allegedly punched a female who was sleeping in a vehicle at the 2800 block of Russell Road in Centralia about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday was arrested for first-degree burglary, minor in possession and/or consumption, a probation violation and obstructing. The boy was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MORE BRASS KNUCKLES

• A 25-year-old Centralia man arrested about 12:40 p.m. on Sunday at the 400 block of North Ash Street in Centralia for a warrant was also arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon because a set of brass knuckles were allegedly found on his person when he was searched. Isaac J. Cisneros  was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

POSSIBLE BREAK-INS

• Chehalis police were called just after noon on Sunday to the 600 block of Northwest State Avenue where someone had broken a back door.

• Chehalis police were called to the 10 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just before 10 a.m. on Saturday on a report of a possible burglary, and a possible suspect of a family member.

DRUGS

• A 43-year-old man picked up on an outstanding warrant at his home in a trailer park on the 400 block of state Route 506 in Vader at about 5:50 p.m. on Friday was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine as a glass pipe in his pocket had a white residue that field tested positive for the drug, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Jeramy A. Fine  was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

• Juan M. Lopez-Abrego, 19, of Centralia, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after being contacted by police for a trespassing complaint at the 1100 bock of Harrison Avenue at about 3:15 p.m. on Friday, according to the Centralia Police Department. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• A vehicle prowl was reported just after 4 p.m. on Sunday behind a business at the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis.

• Centralia police were called about 7:30 p.m. on Friday about vehicle tires slashed at the 2000 block of North Tower Avenue.

• A deputy pulled over a stolen vehicle about 8:10 p.m. yesterday on southbound Interstate 5 in Chehalis and arrested the 60-year-old Toledo woman behind the wheel. A search of the vehicle turned up suspected methamphetamine, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Norma R. Taylor was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a controlled substance, according to the sheriff’s office.

• Various tools were stolen from a residence being remodeled at the 1000 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 11:45 a.m. yesterday.

• A deputy was called to the 1200 block of North Fork Road outside Chehalis about 10:30 a.m. yesterday where a garage door had been kicked in. It’s not yet clear what if anything was missing, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Centralia police were called to the 1800 block of North Tower Avenue about 7:35 a.m. yesterday to take a report of the theft of potted plants from a front porch. The investigation is ongoing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VIOLENCE

• A juvenile was arrested for allegedly assaulting multiple staff members at the Centralia Providence Hospital following an approximately 9:45 p.m. call to police yesterday. The suspect was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for third-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A physical dispute over property involving multiple individuals was reported about 2:15 p.m. yesterday at the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue in Centralia. It is believed that the victim(s) and suspect(s) knew each other but full information was not provided to officers, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Multiple individuals were issued notices of infraction for drinking and consuming alcohol in public at B and First Street in Centralia about 2:20 p.m. yesterday. Police indicate they were all “transients”.

• A 48-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for fourth-degree assault after being observed by police officers chasing an elderly man and trying to assault him at the 1000 block of South Scheuber Road at about 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The man was not injured and it is unknown at this time why the suspect tried to assault the victim who was unknown to her, according to the Centralia Police Department. Tracy L Thoreson was booked into Lewis County Jail, according to police.

VANDALISM

• Sensor wires to a garage door opener were cut by an unknown suspect at the 700 block of South Gold Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

• A man was reported to have vandalized several signs in the area near Washington Avenue and Maple Street in Centralia when he drew on them with permanent marker, according to a call made to police about 8:18 p.m. on Monday. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A large box truck caused minor damage to the fire department building on the 500 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia when it drove down the alley way and scraped the flashing with its cargo box, according to a report made to police just before 1 p.m. on Monday. The box truck then left the area, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police this morning said they were working to identify a customer who assaulted an employee when he was upset because his food was taking too long and wanted his money back on Sunday afternoon at the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue. Officers called at 3:51 p.m. learned the “male” grabbed the phone from the worker as she was calling 911, striking her in the face. The subject left prior to police arriving, according to the Centralia Police Department. The investigation is ongoing.

BREAK-IN

• Centralia police were called about 4:20 a.m. on Sunday to the 1100 block of Long Road where a 27-year-old Centralia man allegedly broke into a residence where he used to live, broke items and assaulted the homeowner but fled as law enforcement was arriving. A K-9 track was unsuccessful in locating the suspect, according to the Centralia Police Department. A case of first-degree domestic violence burglary is being referred to prosecutors, according to police.

PORCH PILFERING

• Police were called to the 900 block of B Street in Centralia about 5:45 p.m. on Friday where a package was reported to have been stolen from the front porch of a residence. Video surveillance footage shows a male suspect, but his face cannot be seen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A package was stolen from the front porch area of a home on the 300 block of Centralia College Boulevard, according to a report made to police about 5:35 p.m. on Friday.

• Centralia police were called about 10 a.m. on Friday regarding the theft of a package from a porch on the 700 block of Hamilton Avenue.

• A package was stolen off a porch on the 200 block of Latona Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 9:40 a.m. on Friday.

FRAUD

• Chehalis police were called just after 9 a.m. on Friday to take a report of fraud involving an Amazon account and the purchase of a laptop computer associated with the 1500 block of North National Avenue.

NAKED OUTDOORS

• A 42-year-old Centralia man was arrested for indecent exposure after allegedly being seen by a neighbor standing nude outside in front of a residence on the 300 block of North Washington Avenue in Centralia at about 9 p.m. on Sunday. John K. Hagen was issued a citation and then released, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A wrong-way vehicle going northbound at the 1200 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia caused a collision with another vehicle traveling southbound at about 8:43 p.m. on Sunday. One person was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 36-year-old Packwood resident was arrested for driving under the influence after deputies and aid responded about 3:18 p.m. on Sunday to a single-vehicle wreck along Forest Service Road 25 off the 300 Line outside of Randle. Matthew T. Bavikoff was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was also booked for third-degree driving with a suspended license, according to the sheriff’s office.

• A 40-year-old Centralia man was arrested after he was contacted by police for allegedly running into traffic and throwing rocks at cars at the 500 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia at about 7 p.m. on Saturday. Jesus D. Montano was booked into the Lewis County Jail for disorderly conduct, according to the Centralia Police Department.
