ASSAULT

• A 48-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for fourth-degree assault after being observed by police officers chasing an elderly man and trying to assault him at the 1000 block of South Scheuber Road at about 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The man was not injured and it is unknown at this time why the suspect tried to assault the victim who was unknown to her, according to the Centralia Police Department. Tracy L Thoreson was booked into Lewis County Jail, according to police.

VANDALISM

• Sensor wires to a garage door opener were cut by an unknown suspect at the 700 block of South Gold Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

• A man was reported to have vandalized several signs in the area near Washington Avenue and Maple Street in Centralia when he drew on them with permanent marker, according to a call made to police about 8:18 p.m. on Monday. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A large box truck caused minor damage to the fire department building on the 500 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia when it drove down the alley way and scraped the flashing with its cargo box, according to a report made to police just before 1 p.m. on Monday. The box truck then left the area, according to the Centralia Police Department.
