TEEN KICKS ANOTHER TEEN IN FACE, SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS

• Deputies are looking for a 17-year-old Centralia resident after a Saturday incident in which he allegedly punched a 16-year-old Rochester male in the face, grabbed him by the throat and threw him to the ground and then – while the victim lay unmoving – ran up and kicked him in the face. It began when the Rochester teen and friends were at the Chehalis River off Prather Road and after the teen took a phone call from a girl he previously knew well, the girl’s brother called him and threatened to find him and beat him up, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. The teen and his friends left and soon after encountered the 17-year-old brother, the girl and two other males at a stop sign and then again in the driveway of the 16-year-old’s home on the 18,700 block of Sargent Road where the assault took place, sheriff’s Lt. Chris Mealy said. The 17-year-old is facing possible arrest for felony assault, Mealy said.

PASSING MOTORIST STRIKES BICYCLE RIDER WITH OBJECT

• Chehalis police were called just before 7 p.m. last night after a male riding a bicycle along Chamber of Commerce Way was struck by a flashlight or something similar from a passing motorist, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The victim was struck in the arm but declined aid, according to police.

EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES PILFERED FROM CONSTRUCTION SITE

• An estimated $5,200 stolen from a construction site at the end of Hobson Road outside Centralia included 300 feet of heavy-gauge wire, an electric water pump and a 60-gallon fuel tank, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. The theft took place sometime between 6 p.m. last Wednesday and 8 o’clock the following morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

FOUR FIREARMS STOLEN

• A Toledo-area resident reported last Thursday two rifles, a shotgun and a pistol had been stolen from his Collins Road residence and on Friday contacted the Lewis County Office again to say he had recovered two of them and was in the courthouse parking lot with the suspect, his nephew, the sheriff’s office reported this morning. Johnathan R.C. Miller, 18, of Toledo, was subsequently arrested by deputies for multiple counts involving the theft of the firearms, according to Cmdr. Steve Aust.

VEHICLE STOLEN, ANOTHER RETURNED

• Centralia police on Sunday evening recovered a vehicle stolen previously from Chehalis after a resident on the 1400 block of Logan Street in Centralia reported she noticed it parked on her block for the previous four days.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning a black and gray 1988 Chevrolet Suburban was stolen sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning from the 200 block of Hamilton Road outside Chehalis.

BURGLARIES IN CENTRALIA AND CHEHALIS

• Centralia police took a report about 8 p.m. on Saturday that somebody stole two laptop computers, a Wii entertainment system and a small amount of cash from the 200 block of E. Carson Street in Centralia.

• Chehalis police took a report about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday that somebody entered through an unlocked garage door on the 300 block of James Street and stole electronics, including video games.

PROWLING VEHICLES, SMASHING WINDOWS

• An iPod and a wallet were taken from a vehicle on the 900 block of H Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. At noon the same day, police took a report somebody broke a window of a vehicle on the 500 block of North Iron Street and took a purse.

• The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office this morning reported they received an online report of vandalism to a vehicle last week. The window of a car was broken out sometime on the 18,800 block of Guava Street in Rochester sometime on July 4.

• Centralia police took a report about 2:20 p.m. on Sunday a window was broken out a vehicle on the 2600 block of Borst Avenue. Just before noon on Saturday, police were called about the windshield being broken out another vehicle on the 100 block of South Barner Drive. The inside of that vehicle was ransacked, but nothing was taken, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER THREATENING TO BLOW UP HIS MOTOR HOME AT CHEHALIS AIRPORT

• A 63-year-old man from Curtis was arrested at gun point today in Chehalis after he told an employee at Walgreens he wanted to get rid of his motor home and was headed to the airport to get in his private jet and “when he was 1,000 feet up, he was going to blow it sky high,” according to Chehalis police. Officers called about the incident at the store on Chamber of Commerce Way found the suspect in an older model motor home parked not at the airport but behind Steck clinic off Bishop Road about 2:35 p.m. Chehalis Officer Jeff Elder had George Gould at gunpoint, and when Gould reached for something in his vehicle, Elder punched Gould in the face, according to Elder. Gould was handcuffed, and firefighters and medics came to check him out, but he declined aid, according to police. Chehalis police Sgt. Brian Hickey said the man had gone in to Walgreens demanding to sell his motor home, and even asked for the manager to make his appeal. Hickey expected to book Gould for threat to bomb or a similar offense, Hickey said.

MAN RETURNS TO SCENE OF THEFT AND GETS ARRESTED

• Centralia police reported this morning that a 41-year-old Centralia man was arrested last night for stealing a motorcycle from behind the Hub tavern. According to police, Keith A. Obrist was apprehended by officers when he returned to the scene on the 100 block of South Tower Avenue to retrieve his bicycle. He led an officer to where the motorcycle was hidden and it was returned to the owner, according to the Centralia Police Department. Obrist was arrested and then released, police reported.

ANOTHER HONDA GOES MISSING

• A red 1993 Honda Civic was reported stolen from Airport Road and Mellen Street in Centralia about 5:45 p.m. yesterday, according to Centralia police. It bears a license plate reading 106 TLI.

DOG KEEPS MAN FROM SNEAKING IN THROUGH DOG DOOR

• Police took a report just before 5 p.m. yesterday that somebody kicked in the dog door at the rear of a residence on the 500 block of Woodland Avenue in Centralia. According to police, the homeowner’s dog scared the would-be burglar away.

CAR PROWLER CAUGHT ON CAMERA

• Chehalis police called to the Wal-Mart parking lot at about 2:25 p.m. yesterday about a vehicle prowl were able to obtain security camera video which showed an individual from an older Jeep Cherokee breaking out the window of a Ford pickup truck. A nylon briefcase was taken from the truck, sometime within the hour before the call, according to Deputy Police Chief Randy Kaut.

THEFT FROM STORAGE UNIT

• Somebody broke into a storage unit on Northeast Kresky Avenue in Chehalis and removed a trailer carrying a riding lawn mower, a push mower and a chain saw, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The officer called at 1:20 p.m. was told by the victim they believed a couple of other units had recently been burglarized, Deputy Police Chief Randy Kaut said this morning. Police don’t know how the individual got into the gated compound, he said.

RED TRAIL BIKE STOLEN

• Centralia police were called just after 5 p.m. last evening about a motorcycle stolen from the 800 block of J Street. The red trail bike-style Honda 250 has a vehicle identification number of JH2ME10397M305509, according to the Centralia Police Department.

TWO ARRESTS FOR SECOND DEGREE THEFT

• Centralia police reported they arrested two Bellingham residents near the Outlet Malls last night for second degree theft. The 8:20 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. incidents involved Bernita L. Madera, 28, and Rolondo L. Clizbe, 33, according to the Centralia Police Department. Madera was also booked for felony harassment, police reported. Further details were not readily available.

THEFTS AND CAR PROWLS

• Chehalis police were called about 8:45 p.m. last night about a car stolen from the area of Northeast Hampe Way.

• Centralia police took a report yesterday evening of a car prowl from the 1000 block of North Washington Avenue in which possibly stereo equipment was missing. The victim told police they believe it happened sometime on Monday, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police took a report Wednesday about theft of jewelry from a residence on the 200 block of Carson Street.

• Police took a report Wednesday that a DVD player and $1 gold coin went missing sometime during the previous week from the 1500 block of Lewis Street in Centralia.

• Chehalis police took a report yesterday evening of unspecified malicious mischief to a Volkswagen Beetle on South Market Boulevard which occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., according to the Chehalis Police Department.

HEROIN, COCAINE, METHAMPHETAMINE FOUND IN TRAILER

• Centralia police officers joined by sheriff’s deputies yesterday evening found suspected heroin, and cocaine and methamphetamine at a travel trailer on the 1300 block of Highway 6 west of Chehalis, according to a news release this morning. The Centralia Police Department Anti-Crime team served a search warrant there about 5 p.m. and also found packaging materials and scales, leading to the arrest of a 47-year-old man for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Kevin N. Stewart, 47, was booked into the Lewis County Jail. The amount of suspected drugs found was not revealed.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA

• Chehalis police early this morning served a search warrant at a home on Southwest 14th Street following up on information about marijuana growing there. The visit just after 7 a.m. by detectives and a patrol officer was fairly low key and uneventful, according to police detective Sgt. Rick McNamara. “We were aware in the past they had medical marijuana and we found they are in compliance,” McNamara said this morning.

STOLEN STUFF, BROKEN GLASS

• A deputy checking out a report early this morning of a suspicious vehicle, a moped parked on private property, woke up the individual with the moped who was sleeping and then discovered it had been reported stolen from a Centralia resident. Eric B. J. Maggard, 27, of Castle Rock, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle following the 12:45 a.m. call to the 4000 block of Jackson Highway, just north of Toledo, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Centralia police about 6 p.m. on Tuesday that somebody entered a travel trailer on the 1100 block of West Chestnut Street and stole CDs, the victim’s rent money and other items, according to police.

• About 10 p.m. last night a Centralia police officer responded to the 500 block of Ash Street in Centralia where somebody had broken out the rear and passenger side windows of a vehicle. It followed a “domestic issue” which occurred in Thurston County, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police about 11 p.m. last night made a report that two windows were broken out of a building on the 1200 block of West Main Street.

• Sometime between 4:30 a.m. and 5:05 a.m. on Tuesday, somebody prowled a vehicle on the 1100 block of Silverbrook Road in Randle and took 20 music CDs, according to a report made to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.

• Somebody entered an unlocked vehicle at the 800 block of Johnson Road in Centralia and stole pain medication, according to  report made to police about 6 p.m. last night.

• Just before noon yesterday, an officer was called to the 700 block of West Second Street in Centralia where somebody pried the window seal from a vehicle and stole a ring, according to police.

• Centralia police took a report yesterday morning from a woman who said she was billed for taxes by somebody using her social security number in another state.

CARS AND TRUCK STOLEN

• Centralia police took a report about 6:20 a.m. today that a 1990 Ford Ranger was stolen over the weekend from the 1100 block of K. Street.

• A blue 1998 VW Passat vanished from a driveway at the 100 block of Bowers Road outside Chehalis sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Friday and 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning.

• A sheriff’s deputy took a report on Friday that a 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis was stolen from the 100 block of Morris Road in Randle. The $5,000 car was parked at its residence at 9:30 p.m. the night before and gone at 5 a.m., according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

BREAKING IN, BREAKING OUT

• Centralia police were called just after 9 p.m. last night about a burglary at a home on the 1400 block of View Street. The victim said two rings, some cash and approximately 100 baseball cards were missing from a bedroom, according the Centralia Police Department.

• Somebody stole a quad and parts for a Ford Mustang  when they got into a temporary storage area on the 400 block of West Main Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police just before 8 p.m. last night. Police described the quad as a blue and gray “Veto Bobcat”.

• A Bucoda-area resident returned home after the long weekend to find somebody had tried to break into her house. A deputy called about 5 p.m. on Monday to the home on the 20,200 block of Bucoda Highway Southeast was told the woman went to open the door between her garage and her her home and the metal catch fell to the floor. Nothing appeared to be missing, but the door frame was broken according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. The outer garage door had been left unlocked, Lt. Chris Mealy said.

• A deputy was called about 8 a.m. on Saturday to the Tenino area when an 88-year-old man’s caregiver discovered someone had broken out the window of his pickup truck. She thought it was unusual because she had locked the gate to the driveway the night before but when she arrived to the residence on the 19,900 block of Steelhead Court Southeast, it was open, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. Nothing was missing.

• Centralia police were called last night to the 400 block of South Oak Street where somebody had smashed the window of a pickup truck and tried to steal a laptop computer inside which was locked into a holder. They weren’t successful, according to the Centralia Police Department. About  a half hour earlier, at 8 p.m., an officer took a report of a vehicle prowl on the 400 block of West Main Street. A window was broken and missing a GPS device, an Ipod and approximately 50 CDs, according to police.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning that somebody broke the lock off a truck’s tool box and took a chop saw, a screw gun, a skill saw and a battery powered tool kit. The estimated $600 theft happened sometime on Friday on the 1300 block of state Route 508 in Onalaska, according to sheriff’s Cmdr. Steve Aust.

OOPS

• A 53-year-old Salkum woman was arrested overnight after a small baggie fell out of her glove box as she was getting her registration for a police officer. A Chehalis tribal officer was checking on a suspicious vehicle about 2 o’clock this morning along the 19,000 block of Anderson Road in Rochester, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. Florence K. Montes said she was waiting for a friend and handed the officer an expired vehicle registration, sheriff’s Lt. Chris Mealy said. A sheriff’s deputy was called to assist and found a white substance which tested positive for amphetamine, Mealy said. Montes was booked into the Thurston County Jail for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, according to Mealy.

INHALING TOXIC FUMES

• A 22-year-old Winlock woman was jailed yesterday when deputies picked her up at a Winlock address. She was wanted by Chehalis police for inhaling toxic fumes, a misdemeanor. Law officers from Chehalis and the the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said they come across it from time to time and it grew out of former glue sniffing law. Detective Sgt. Rick McNamara and sheriff’s Cmdr. Steve Aust said the people they come across are using spray paint and even engine cleaner and either spraying it into their hand, a rag or a paper sack and then inhaling it to get  kind of high. “It’s been a problem,” McNamara said. “They’re not only hurting their brain and lungs, they can kill themselves.” Ashley E. Howland was also arrested on a warrant in connection with a misdemeanor theft, according to police.

SPRAY PAINT SPREE

• Centralia police are investigating multiple occurrences of somebody spray painting cars, buildings and fences. The red, silver and orange graffiti was found sometime before Friday morning in several neighborhoods in Centralia, according to police.

MINOR MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

• A female passenger on a motorcycle sustained minor injuries on Saturday afternoon when a vehicle pulled in front of the motorcycle along the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department. The slow-speed crash around 3 p.m. knocked both the male motorcycle driver and the female to the ground, police reported.

MISSING MERCURY

• A blue 1993 Mercury Sable was apparently stolen during the Fourth of July Parade yesterday in Centralia. A Centralia police officer took the report about 8:50 p.m. from Yew Street. The four-door car bears a Washington license plate reading 724 ZSO, according to police.

BREAKING AND ENTERING

• Somebody broke the window out a vehicle on the 700 block of H Street in Centralia and took a cell phone, according to a report made to police about 11 a.m. on Saturday. Money was taken from another vehicle during the night on the 900 block of K Street, according to a report made just before that. And the same day, police took a report from the 800 block of Hamilton Avenue of a rear window being broken out during the night.

• Police took a report about 9:15 a.m. on Friday of somebody who climbed through a drive-through window of a business on the 500 block of West Main Street and stole about $100 in change.

• A wallet was reported missing from a vehicle prowl reported about 10:30 on Friday morning at the 1100 block of Roosevelt Avenue in Centralia, according to police.
