MAN ARRESTED AFTER THREATENING TO BLOW UP HIS MOTOR HOME AT CHEHALIS AIRPORT
• A 63-year-old man from Curtis was arrested at gun point today in Chehalis after he told an employee at Walgreens he wanted to get rid of his motor home and was headed to the airport to get in his private jet and “when he was 1,000 feet up, he was going to blow it sky high,” according to Chehalis police. Officers called about the incident at the store on Chamber of Commerce Way found the suspect in an older model motor home parked not at the airport but behind Steck clinic off Bishop Road about 2:35 p.m. Chehalis Officer Jeff Elder had George Gould at gunpoint, and when Gould reached for something in his vehicle, Elder punched Gould in the face, according to Elder. Gould was handcuffed, and firefighters and medics came to check him out, but he declined aid, according to police. Chehalis police Sgt. Brian Hickey said the man had gone in to Walgreens demanding to sell his motor home, and even asked for the manager to make his appeal. Hickey expected to book Gould for threat to bomb or a similar offense, Hickey said.
MAN RETURNS TO SCENE OF THEFT AND GETS ARRESTED
• Centralia police reported this morning that a 41-year-old Centralia man was arrested last night for stealing a motorcycle from behind the Hub tavern. According to police, Keith A. Obrist was apprehended by officers when he returned to the scene on the 100 block of South Tower Avenue to retrieve his bicycle. He led an officer to where the motorcycle was hidden and it was returned to the owner, according to the Centralia Police Department. Obrist was arrested and then released, police reported.
ANOTHER HONDA GOES MISSING
• A red 1993 Honda Civic was reported stolen from Airport Road and Mellen Street in Centralia about 5:45 p.m. yesterday, according to Centralia police. It bears a license plate reading 106 TLI.
DOG KEEPS MAN FROM SNEAKING IN THROUGH DOG DOOR
• Police took a report just before 5 p.m. yesterday that somebody kicked in the dog door at the rear of a residence on the 500 block of Woodland Avenue in Centralia. According to police, the homeowner’s dog scared the would-be burglar away.
