‘DRIVE-BY PEPPER SPRAYING’

• Chehalis police were called when a 24-year-old man said an elderly driver in a black Mercedes yelled at him about how he was parked and then sprayed him with mace at the 500 block of North Market Boulevard in Chehalis just before 7 p.m. on Friday. The suspect  – described as an old white man with a white beard – left and no arrest was made, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• An individual at the 1600 block of North Scheuber Road in Centralia reported just after 8 a.m. on Sunday that his cell phone and $5 were stolen.

• Chehalis police were called about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and told a white 2000 Nissan Altima was missing from the 10 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue. The owner contacted police the next day to say it vanished during the previous couple of days, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A ring was misplaced at a tanning bed business on the 1600 block of South Gold Street and believed to be stolen, according to a report made to police about 1:20 p.m. on Saturday.

• A person of interest has been identified in a case in which a package was stolen from the front porch of a home on the 800 block of K Street in Centralia and reported to police about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

• An electronic tablet was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Oxford Avenue in Centralia, according to a report to police about 7:30 p.m. on Friday. A person of interest was identified by the victim and officers are still investigating the case, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A package was stolen from the front porch of a residence on the 800 block of K Street in Centralia and reported to police at about 6:20 p.m. on Friday.

• Chehalis police called about 4 p.m. on Friday for a theft from a retail store in progress at the 700 block of South Market Boulevard did not locate the suspect but the next afternoon were called to investigate an incident that might be related, connected to a gift card-type transaction, at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

DOMESTIC INCIDENTS

• A 26-year-old Centralia woman was arrested after police were called just before 1 a.m. on Sunday to the 100 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia because she had allegedly caused over $750 worth of damages to another’s property in a domestic-type incident. Vanessa M. Gomez was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree malicious mischief, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Braden K. Burnett, 30, of Centralia, was arrested for allegedly violating a no contact order after being contacted by police in a wooded encampment near a residence on the 900 block of Dickey Road in Centralia at about 9 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Centralia Police Department. Burnett was also arrested for resisting arrest and obstructing a law enforcement officer after he allegedly attempted to flee from officers on foot, according to police. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

DRUGS

• Centralia police found two people squatting in a vacant house about 6 p.m. on Sunday at the 300 block of South Iron Street and booked one of them – Tony A. McClain, 35 – into the Lewis County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, heroin and stolen property, according to the Centralia Police Department. His companion, Christina D. Lozano, 35, was arrested for first-degree criminal trespassing and then released pending a court hearing, according to police. Both are from Spokane.

• A 41-year-old Centralia man was arrested for  possession of methamphetamine after being contacted about 9 p.m. on Saturday in a wooded encampment near a residence on the 1100 block of Dickey Road in Centralia.  David C Rahnert was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A hit and run collision was reported about 11:20 a.m. on Friday after a bicyclist collided with the side of a vehicle, causing damage to the vehicle and then fled the scene at West Main Street and Tower Avenue in Centralia.

SWAT TEAM RESPONDS FOR PROTECTION ORDER VIOLATION

• A 41-year-old Ethel man was arrested after a woman reported he was barricaded inside a residence with three children early this morning, drawing a response from the SWAT team to the 100 block of Oyler Road. The woman was arrested also, for false reporting and making false statements. Deputies were told just after midnight there was a dispute and that Jeromie S. Holmes was inside the home with the kids, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. After several hours, law enforcement was able to remove the youngsters from the residence and eventually found Holmes hiding in a crawl space, according to the sheriff’s office. A subsequent investigation showed the account of a hostage situation was untrue, so Krista M. Deel, 37, from Ethel, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said. Holmes was booked for three counts of felony violation of a no contact order, according to Breen.

SEXUAL MISCONDUCT

• A deputy responded to a report from Mossyrock High School about 11:15 a.m. yesterday that an 18-year-old male had possibly engaged in sex with juvenile girls and a subsequent investigation turned up an incident from March involving a now-14-year-old girl, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Justin E. Gootgeld, of Mossyrock, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree rape of a child, according to the sheriff’s office.

FRAUD

• Chehalis police were notified about 12:45 p.m. yesterday of a possible identity theft associated with the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

CAR PROWL

• Chehalis police called to the 1700 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just before 8 a.m. yesterday for three vehicles with their windows broken out, which had been rummaged through.

• Chehalis police called for a possible drug violation about 5:30 p.m. yesterday at the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way involving a juvenile are referring a case to prosecutors for evaluation of charges, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• An 8-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was hit by an intoxicated motorcyclist at the 400 block of West Main Street in Centralia. The child was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for what police described as non-life threatening injuries after the approximately 6 p.m. incident yesterday. Wade E. Evans, 60, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for vehicular assault, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 24-year-old Bucoda man was arrested for vehicular assault after deputies were dispatched about 11:30 p.m. on Monday to a single-vehicle accident which they subsequently located along the 400 block of Tietzel Road in Centralia. A 45-year-old male passenger, also from Bucoda, had been ejected and was discovered with significant injuries in a field about 20 feet from the Jeep Cherokee, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical center in Seattle, according to the sheriff’s office. The driver, Christopher D. Hoyt, 24, did not know where he was and reportedly admitted to drinking, the sheriff’s office said. Hoyt was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 40-year-old Toledo woman was arrested for driving under the influence after a single-vehicle collision at the 300 block of Knowles Road on Saturday night. Emily Morgan was attempting to leave the scene but was intercepted by aid personnel, according to the sheriff’s office. Her 2013 Toyota Camry sustained major damage, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said. She  booked into the Lewis County Jail.

VIOLENCE

• A 31-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for second-degree assault after he allegedly struck and kicked another man at Chehalis Avenue and Center Street in Chehalis last night. Officers called about 8:50 p.m. were told the victim was unconscious on the sidewalk and bleeding from his nose and mouth. Aid was called for the victim and police located a suspect a short distance away, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Brent T. Brooks was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• Jose P. Escamilla-Orellana, 25, of Centralia was arrested for unlawful imprisonment after he allegedly restrained his ex-girlfriend against her will during an argument last night in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers called about 8:30 p.m. to the 700 block of North Tower Avenue learned she was finally able to get away from him and drive off, according to police. He was booked him into the Lewis County Jail. Prosecutors today declined to file the felony charge.

• A 37-year-old homeless man who allegedly threatened to kill an individual was arrested for harassment on Sunday morning and then for third-degree assault after he allegedly grabbed one of the arresting officer’s hands, dug in with his fingernails and left a cut on the officer’s finger. Police called just before 9 a.m. on Sunday to the 500 block of West Main Street booked Michael L. Hensley into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 49-year-old woman allegedly repeatedly rammed her ex-husbands parked, unoccupied vehicle while intoxicated last night at the 1500 block of Lewis Street in Centralia. Lauren Harter, 49, of Washougal, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for driving under the influence and for third-degree malicious mischief, according to the Centralia Police Department.

KIDS CAUGHT STEALING

• Nine students were arrested after they allegedly stole drinks from a dispensing machine at the 800 block of Eshom Road in Centralia yesterday. Police called about 11:20 a.m. will be referring the cases to prosecutors for charges of third-degree theft, according to the Centralia Police Department.

PORCH PILFERING

• Centralia police were called to the 900 block of South Tower Avenue about 6:50 a.m. today where an individual reported that someone stole his gym bag off his front porch 15 minutes earlier.

DRUGS

• Two people discovered passed out in a vehicle parked at the 900 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia were both arrested yesterday about 2:35 p.m., according to the Centralia Police Department. Kristopher K. Nolan, 33, was arrested for possession of heroin and because he identified himself to police using someone else’s identity, he was also arrested for identity theft, according to police. Brittany M. Morris, 28, was arrested for an outstanding Thurston County Superior Court drug warrant, according to Sgt. Tracy Murphy. The pair, both Chehalis residents, were booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• A 28-year-old Toledo woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine following a search incident to her arrest when police were called about 3:45 p.m. on Friday to the 500 block of South Market Boulevard in Chehalis on a report someone may have been “huffing” in the restroom. Sarah A. Gee was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

ADULTS MUGGED BY PACK OF KIDS IN CENTRALIA

• Two men reported they were assaulted by a large group of what appeared to be juveniles who confronted them and demanded their wallets and cigarettes at the 800 block of West First Street in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers called about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday learned the adults fought them off and the youngsters did not actually get anything from the victims. Officers searched several nearby blocks for the group of juveniles, but were unable to locate them, according to police.

BREAK-IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called to the 500 block of North Ash Street about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday after individuals returned home to find  burglary had taken place overnight. Property inside their home was damaged, according to the Centralia Police Department.

OTHER THEFT

• Centralia police were called to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 7 p.m. on Friday to take a report of a license plate removed from a vehicle while it was parked at a store.

• Outgoing mail was stolen from a mailbox at the 1700 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police just before 11 a.m. on Friday.

DRUGS AND DUST OFF

• A 28-year-old Rochester resident was arrested for inhaling toxic fumes after he was contacted by police about 8 p.m. on Saturday at First Street and Tower Avenue in Centralia, exhibited symptoms of being under the influence and had a can of Dust Off with him, according to the Centralia Police Department. Aaron J. Henning  was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• Centralia police were checking on the welfare of a woman about 4:20 p.m. on Saturday at the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue and ended up arresting her for possession of methamphetamine. Marta D. Keeth, 45, of Vancouver, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 31-year-old Centralia resident arrested for outstanding warrants was also allegedly found in possession of heroin and morphine at the 200 block of West Main Street in Centralia at about 2:20 p.m. on Friday.  Kelvin B Kempf  was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 52-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly left the scene of a collision and was subsequently located and found to be under the influence of intoxicants. Police were called just before 11 p.m. on Saturday to the 500 block of South Tower Avenue, according to the Centralia Police Department. Jay Blevins, of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for hit and run as well as driving under the influence, according to police.

• Three people were injured when a 1968 Ford pickup occupied by two men not wearing seat belts attempted to turn left from state Route 7 onto eastbound U.S. Highway 12 at Morton on Friday and were struck by a westbound semi truck. Troopers called just before 1 p.m. report the passenger in the pickup – 59-year-old Jim Clemetson from Granite Falls – was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The driver of the pickup, 28-year-old Mickel E. Thomas, from Marysville, was taken to Morton General Hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol. The driver of the 2012 Kenworth, Brian R. Rhodes, 53, from Rochester, was also transported to Morton General. The wreck is blamed on Thomas’s failure to yield the right-of-way. His license was suspended and he faces a possible charge of vehicular assault as drugs or alcohol were suspected to be involved, according to the state patrol. His pickup was totaled.

MOM BREAKS UP KIDS’ FIGHT WITH MACE

• A Centralia mother was arrested last night for allegedly spraying mace on her 18-year-old son who was in an altercation with his 14-year-old brother. Officers called about 9:30 p.m. to the 600 block of West Roanoke Street in Centralia say that Kristy A. Price-Alvarez had called dispatch and said nothing had taken place and told officers the same thing when they arrived, according to the Centralia Police Department. The 38-year-old woman was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault and obstructing a public servant, according to police.

AGGRESSIVE SMOKER

• Centralia police were contacted by a female about noon yesterday who said that the night before while she was outside in an apartment complex smoking area, a man assaulted her as he tried to get her cigarettes from her at Johnson Road and Reynolds Avenue. She had minor injuries but didn’t seek medical treatment, according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is still under investigation, police indicated this morning.

ASSAULT AT GREEN HILL

• Chehalis police were called just after 10 a.m. yesterday to Green Hill School at the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street to take a report of a second-degree assault. Officers this morning were still investigating, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

AUTO THEFT

• Chehalis police were called to the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 11 p.m. yesterday where a gray 1993 Honda Accord had been stolen. The car was last seen about 4 p.m., according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FUEL THEFT

• Police were called to the 500 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia about 3:25 p.m. yesterday to take a report of gas stolen from a parked company truck.

LEAVING UNWANTED TRASH

• Police called to the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue about 8:15 a.m. yesterday are investigating the “theft of services” because a business found its dumpster had been filled by somebody else’s garbage.

KIDNAP ARREST

• A 29-year-old Centralia man was arrested for kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment after police were called about 7:50 a.m. yesterday to the 1300 block of Lum Road.  Wellington M. Waggener was booked into Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department

VANDALISM WITH GUN

• A deputy was called about 8:30 a.m. yesterday to take a report from a Glenoma man that while his road grader was parked at the 1800 block of North Fork Road, someone had shot it up, leaving several bullet holes throughout the $23,000 piece of equipment.

THEFT

• A Doty resident returned home after being gone for about an hour to find his front door open and his toolbox rummaged through yesterday. A deputy responding to the 8:30 a.m. call to the 100 block of Doty Street noted that approximately $50 worth of Craftsman tools were missing, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Centralia police were called just after noon yesterday to the 1300 block of Alexander Street where $600 was reported stolen from a resident’s room some time over the previous several days. The case is still under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A business on the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue called police about 10:50 a.m. yesterday to report a client who had been fitted with an electronic home monitoring device had disappeared, with their device.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

• An employee of a business at the 1300 block of Lum Road in Centralia found pry marks on the back door which appeared to be from somebody try to break into the building, according to a report made to police about 9:30 a.m. yesterday.

DRUGS

• A 34-year-old man being booked into the Lewis County Jail was arrested for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act about 12:30 p.m. yesterday following the discovery of a plastic bag containing a prescription medication called Suboxone, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Von A. Chase was subsequently booked for the new alleged offense. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charge today.

• A 31-year-old woman contacted by a law enforcement officer – because her driver’s license was suspended – in the parking lot of the Lewis County Law and Justice Center in Chehalis reportedly responded with some profanity and drove off yesterday. The sheriff’s sergeant had just gotten a tip that Breanna S. Madison was going to get in her car and leave, ran up to her and he suggested she shouldn’t drive, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Madison allegedly headed west on Main Street and then north on Interstate 5, traveling between 40 to 50 mph while a deputy followed, with lights and sirens activated, according to the sheriff’s office. When she stopped near milepost 80 in Centralia, the Freeland resident was informed her driver’s license was suspended and she was arrested for felony attempt to elude, before getting booked into the Lewis County Jail, Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey said. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charge today.
