INCARCERATED DEFENDANTS RUN OUT OF COURTROOM

• A corrections deputy had four inmates in Lewis County District Court yesterday when two of them ran off, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. One was recaptured in the building by court and sheriff’s office personnel, according to the sheriff’s office. The other was caught a few blocks away from the courthouse, according to sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dusty Breen. It happened about 1:45 p.m. Kodey Lee Howard, 28, of Winlock, and Tanner David Jacobson, 22, of Onalaska are facing felony escape charges, Breen said.

FRAUD

• Centralia police just after 3 p.m. yesterday took a report associated with the 200 block of West Reynolds Street in which approximately $6,500 in counterfeit checks had been used to deposit money in different bank accounts in various banks. All but approximately $1,800 was returned to the victim by their home bank, according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is under investigation.

• Fraudulent activity was reported in which the reporting party had her bank account accessed by an unknown suspect who used her debit card information to obtain money from an ATM machine, in a case reported about 2:35 p.m. yesterday associated with a location on the 100 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department. There are no suspects, police indicated this morning.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were contacted about noon yesterday by an individual who reported when they returned to their car after coming out of Wal-Mart at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue, they found it covered in silly string. The next day, however, they discovered also their Kia Sorento had a large dent in the hood, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Police are investigating.

NAKED PICTURE REPORT

• A 15-year-old girl and her mother reported just before 5 p.m. yesterday that an unknown male had sent a nude photo of himself on a social media application, according to the Centralia Police Department. The picture was no longer available due to the type of application it was, according to police.

• Centralia police responded to an approximately 8:45 a.m. call yesterday at South Tower Avenue and Cherry Street in which a log truck was trying to make a left turn at an intersection and clipped the front end of another vehicle with its trailer.

ROBBERY IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police arrested three people who allegedly beat up a woman and stole her backpack at the 1200 block of Mellen Street last night. Officers called about 8:20 p.m. identified the suspects, located them, and booked them into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree robbery, according to the Centralia Police Department. Booked were Adam P. Chapman, 33; Joseph D. Whitney-House,18; and Tiffany C. Schwartzengraber, 20, all individuals with no addresses, according to police.

OUT-OF-CONTROL STUDENT

• Officers called to the 800 block of Field Avenue about 3:50 p.m. yesterday investigated a report that an 11-year-old student had grabbed a teacher by the neck and also punched the teacher. The case is being referred to prosecutors for a possible charge of fourth-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BREAK-IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called about 10:50 a.m. yesterday for a burglary to a business at the 3700 block of Northpark Drive. An unknown person had entered the building while it was closed and left with numerous power tools, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MISSING GUN

• Centralia police were called just before 9 a.m. yesterday to take a report that a pistol had been stolen from its owner’s room at the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue sometime during the previous several days.

CRIME SPREE

• Chehalis police were called about 2:25 p.m. yesterday when two individuals reportedly attempted to leave with a cart full of merchandise from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue, but ran off without it when confronted by employees. A short time later, officers were called about an interrupted vehicle prowl at the 600 block of Northwest Gertrude Street where the suspects matched the descriptions of the shoplifters, according to the Chehalis Police Department. A hunting knife was taken before the suspects fled, but the caller discovered a handgun on the ground nearby, according to police. Soon, officers were approached by an individual who reported their vehicle prowled the night before at the 600 block of Northwest Quincy Place, with a firearm taken. Police are working on confirming who is the owner of the recovered stolen weapon, according to department spokesperson Linda Bailey.

FRAUD

• Chehalis police took a report yesterday from an individual who said someone removed funds from their account via an ATM while the victim had possession of the bankcard in a case associated with the 400 block of North Market Boulevard, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VEHICLE THEFT

• Chehalis police were called just before 7 a.m. today to investigate a vehicle theft associated with the 1500 block of Northwest State Avenue.

• Centralia police were called about 2:40 p.m. yesterday to take a report that a pickup truck had been stolen sometime during the previous several days from a parking lot at the 1200 block of Borthwick Street.

• Chehalis police called at 7:30 a.m. yesterday when an individual reported they left their Dodge Ram pickup truck running to warm up while they went back inside at the 10 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue and then realized someone drove away with it were able to catch up with the stolen vehicle within about five minutes and make an arrest, with the help of the the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect, Diego G. Perez, 19, of Chehalis, had allegedly backed into another vehicle as he was leaving, according to the Chehalis Police Department. A backpack recovered inside the truck turned out to have been stolen in a vehicle prowl discovered and reported at 8:10 a.m. at the 400 block of North Market Boulevard. Perez was booked into the Lewis County Jail for vehicle theft and potential other charges, according to police.

•  Just before 7:15 a.m. today, a wallet was reported stolen from a parked vehicle over night at the 200 block of West Magnolia Street in Centralia by an unknown person.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 40-year-old woman and two children from Glenoma were injured when their 1994 Subaru Legacy failed to slow for a 2004 Subaru Legacy ahead of them preparing to pull into a driveway along eastbound U.S. Highway 12 about a mile west of Mossyrock yesterday. Troopers called about 1:55 p.m. to the scene near Village Road issued citations to Melissa A. Deeds for following too close and for no insurance, according to the Washington State Patrol. Transported to Providence Centralia Hospital were Deeds, Raeanne N. Hanson, 15, And Ryland J. Hanson, 5, according to the state patrol.

• Centralia police responding to the 800 block of South Gold Street at about 12:40 a.m. today arrested a 21-year-old Centralia resident involved in a collision in which it was determined he was driving under the influence. Dionte F. Swafford, who was was also found to be in unlawful possession of a firearm, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

TRAILER HOME DAMAGED BY FIRE

• A man living in a travel trailer in Galvin was displaced after a fire broke out late yesterday afternoon. Crews called just after 5 p.m. to the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue found flames engulfed the trailer and had spread to two outbuildings and a motor home, according to Riverside Fire Authority. An additional travel trailer, pump house and residence were threatened by the growing fire, but it was knocked down before doing further damage, Chief Mike Kytta stated in a brief summary of the incident. Nobody was injured. The Red Cross is assisting the resident. The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Kytta. Riverside was assisted by personnel from Lewis County Fire District 6.

• Chehalis police called about 2:25 a.m. on Sunday to the 700 block of Northwest St. Helens Avenue for a domestic misdemeanor assault ended up arresting a 24-year-old woman from Astoria, Oregon for third-degree assault as she allegedly attempted to strike an arriving officer. Shandell (no middle initial) Russell was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 43-year-old Centralia man who allegedly displayed a weapon during a family dispute with his daughter was arrested after police were called to the 1500 block of Sunset Way at about 2:40 p.m. on Sunday. Alejandro Valencia-Valencia was booked into the Lewis County Jail for unlawful display of a weapon, according to the Centralia Police Department.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• Centralia police were called about 9:10 p.m. on Sunday after three males entered an establishment at the 1000 block of Ellsbury Street and two of them distracted an employee while the third went behind the counter and stole cigars. The subjects fled the scene in a gray sedan, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police called about 8:45 p.m. on Saturday to the 700 block of Harrison Avenue on a report an iPad was stolen from a motel room viewed video surveillance footage and determined a man had entered the room for a short period before exiting with what appeared to the missing item tucked in his waistband.

• A victim of a vehicle theft called in about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday to report he had found his vehicle in Centralia in a case associated with Chestnut and Silver streets, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An individual reported about 1:30 p.m. on Friday that someone entered his hotel room and stole a bag of shrimp at the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia.

• A Centralia woman reported about 10 a.m. on Sunday her discovery that someone made an unauthorized withdrawal from her account of $240 at an ATM on the 400 block of North Market Boulevard in Chehalis.

• Chehalis police were called to a business at the 1500 block of Northwest State Avenue at 6:25 p.m. on Saturday about the possibility a half dozen employees there had experienced bank card fraud.

• Chehalis police were called about 4:05 p.m. on Saturday to take a report from an individual about the suspected unauthorized removal of cash from their account through an ATM at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

• Chehalis police were called about 11:05 a.m. on Saturday by an individual who reported someone stole $1,000 from their account via ATMs in Centralia and Lacey.

• Chehalis police were called just before 11 a.m. on Friday by a Chehalis woman who reported the discovery of an unauthorized transaction on her bank card in Lakewood.

• Chehalis police were called to the 400 block of Northwest North Street about 1:05 p.m. on Friday to take a report that someone had broken into a car parked in a lot for about a week, messed with the battery and stole the timing belt, the shift knob, some change and jumper cables.

• A 36-year-old man contacted by police about 9 p.m. on Saturday at Chestnut Street and Tower Avenue in Centralia was arrested on an outstanding warrant and for possession of methamphetamine. Russell E. Charnell, a person with no address, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 34-year-old Centralia man contacted about an outstanding warrant about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at the 400 block of Denny Way in Centralia was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Isaiah M. Davis was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

Brooks, 56, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for driving under the influence after allegedly driving intoxicated and colliding with another vehicle at the 2800 block of Borst Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. on Friday, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police report they arrested two people for allegedly lying about their identities during a criminal investigation associated with a location on the 1200 block of Borthwick Street around 11:25 p.m. yesterday. Dylan A. Rice, 26, and Brandon L. Kober, 24, both from Wenatchee, were booked into the Lewis County Jail for obstructing a public servant, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called to Green Hill School about 1:45 p.m. yesterday to take a report that a 16-year-old student-inmate allegedly struck a staff member and threw a chair, one unspecified day in the past. • Centralia police are referring a case to prosecutors for eluding a police vehicle related to a 31-year-old Mossyrock man who allegedly fled the scene of a traffic stop about 5:45 p.m. yesterday at Summa Street and Kresky Avenue in Centralia.

• Chehalis police were called about 8:45 a.m. yesterday by an 18-year-old girl who described how a male touched her bottom while she was standing in a checkout line at Wal-Mart earlier this week. She said she turned around and confronted him, and he said “sorry” and left, according to the Chehalis Police Department.  Department spokesperson Linda Bailey said it apparently occurred around the same time on Tuesday morning when officers were summoned to the retail store on the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue because a stranger came up behind another 18-year-old girl and grabbed her inappropriately. Officers made an arrest this morning, booking a man into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation, according to Bailey.

• A 77-year-old woman was arrested yesterday after she allegedly used her walker to push a small child to the ground at the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia.
