SKETCHY MAGAZINE SELLER

• A resident at the 200 block of Elizabeth Browning Drive who allowed a door-to-door salesman to use her bathroom discovered a computer tablet missing after he left, according to a report made to Centralia police about 10 a.m. yesterday. The victim had paid cash for a magazine subscription, according to the Centralia Police Department. The receipt was signed Josh Medarz which may or may not be his real name, according to police. The salesman was described as tall, skinny and about 19 years old, according to police.

AUTO THEFT

• Police were called about 6:30 p.m. yesterday about a white 1991 Toyota 4Runner stolen from the 1400 block of Johnson Road in Centralia. The vehicle has a license plate reading ATN1638, according to the Centralia Police Department.

FRAUD

• Centralia police were contacted about 2 p.m. on Friday by an individual who said someone got into his motor home which was stored away from his residence and took his credit card, used it and then returned it without his knowledge. The charges weren’t discovered until he checked his statement, according to the Centralia Police Department. The case associated with a location on the 200 block of North Ash Street is under investigation, according to police.

RETAIL RUCKUS

• A 30-year-old man confronted about minor shoplifting about 8 p.m. yesterday allegedly fought with store security and then was arrested for first-degree robbery as a knife fell out of his pocket during the altercation, according to the Centralia Police Department. Terry J Ayres, of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail after the incident at the 500 block of South Tower Avenue, according to police. When charges were filed later in the day, they were for second-degree robbery. Ayres’ bail was set at $30,000.

• Chehalis police were called to Home Depot about 2:15 p.m. yesterday, told that a customer was cursing and causing a scene, upset because his $7,000 order hadn’t arrived, was late and they wouldn’t give him a refund. Store personnel told him to leave and he wouldn’t, so the 53-year-old Rochester man was arrested, according to the Chehalis Police Department. John A. Ward was booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, according to police.

AUTO THEFT

• Chehalis police were called about 4:40 p.m. about a stolen car located in the parking lot at Wal-Mart. Police were told on Tuesday a rented 2015 Buick Encore vanished, along with its keys and a female who had been at the home on Northwest Quincy Place. The rental agency got the female’s name, went to her Centralia residence, got the keys and she told them where to find the vehicle, according to the Chehalis Police Department. No arrest has been made, according to police.

DRUGS

• Deputies following up on information a registered sex offender they had been looking for was at a residence on the 100 block of Stubb Road in Cinebar found 56-year-old Bill J. Lane coming out of a cabin there late yesterday afternoon. A search incident  to his arrest turned up suspected methamphetamine on his person, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Lane was booked into the Lewis County Jail for a warrant and for possession of meth, the sheriff’s office reported this morning.

• Centralia police were called about 10 a.m. yesterday to take a report from the 1000 block of L Street that an unknown person had entered and unlocked home while the resident was away and stolen some medication.

CAR PROWL

• Officers took a report that someone broke out the window on a parked vehicle and removed a bowling ball and bowling shoes after being called just after 9 o’clock yesterday morning to the 100 block of Mellen Street in Centralia.

DOMESTIC ARREST

• Centralia police called just after 9 p.m. yesterday about an assault at the 300 block of South Street ended up subduing a suspect with a Taser. Steven D Bliss, 45, Centralia, was arrested for domestic fourth-degree assault and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MACE IN FACE

• A deputy was called to the fire station on Harrison Avenue in Centralia at about 8:25 p.m. yesterday regarding an assault victim being treated there who had been sprayed in the face with mace. The case is under investigation, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

THEFT FROM SCHOOL

• A $1,300 chainsaw was taken from the bed of a pickup truck in the parking lot at White Pass High School in Randle about 6:30 p.m. yesterday. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office says it was a Stihl 661C with a 28-inch bar.

THEFT NEAR TRAIN STATION

• A bike and trailer were stolen from the 200 block of Railroad Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 4:40 p.m. yesterday.

CHRISTMAS SHOP(LIFT)ING

• Centralia police are looking for a shoplifter who took a rain-type jacket from a store on the 1400 block of Lum Road and left on a skateboard yesterday afternoon. Officers called about 3:20 p.m. were told the male was small in stature, sported several tattoos on his face and body and was wearing socks with marijuana plants on them,  according to the Centralia Police Department. The same suspect also stole Vane tennis shoes from a nearby business,a according to police.

FRAUD

• Police were called to the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue about 1:30 p.m. yesterday regarding several counterfeit money orders being passed. The case is still under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A Chehalis resident reported to police yesterday that someone had forged his name on a check and cashed it for $325, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police took a report yesterday morning that rocks were thrown at a car while it was parked sometime over the previous evening at the 900 block of South Pearl Street.

ON THE ROAD

• A vehicle being driven by the assistant chief for Riverside Fire Authority was rear-ended just before 4:30 p.m. yesterday at Harrison Avenue at Interstate 5, according to the Centralia Police Department. He was not injured but the driver of the other vehicle was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for minor injuries, according to police.

DOGNAPPING

• A black and white border collie was reported stolen from its backyard on the 800 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia at about 11 a.m. yesterday, according to the Centralia Police Department.

AUTO THEFT

• An individual went to the Chehalis Police Department yesterday afternoon to report that when he woke up, a car that he had rented was missing. He said he believed it may have been taken by a person who was at his home on Northwest Quincy Place, because the car, the keys and the person were all gone, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The stolen vehicle is described by police as a gray 2015 Buick Encore.

PARCEL THEFT

• Centralia police were called about 4:20 p.m. yesterday regarding the theft of a package that had been left by the front door at the 500 block of South Washington Avenue.

ON THE ROAD

• A 50-year-old Toledo woman with a child passenger was arrested for driving under the influence after another motorist reported the vehicle going all over the roadway and into oncoming traffic yesterday evening on the 100 block of West Side Highway near Vader. A deputy responding about 5:15 p.m. got a search warrant for her blood and booked Marie A. Jeroue into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff gave the teenage passenger a ride home, according to the sheriff’s office.

AUTO THEFT

• Police were informed about 8:15 a.m. yesterday that a pickup truck reported stolen on Friday from the 1600 block of North Scheuber Road was found by a family member, abandoned at Washington Avenue and Plum Street in Centralia.

CAR PROWL

• Chehalis police were called just before 4 a.m. today about a vehicle prowl at the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court.

HANDBAG THEFT

• A woman reported to police yesterday afternoon that her purse was stolen from a shopping cart at Safeway on the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called about 4:15 p.m. yesterday by a woman who said she left her purse in the restroom of a restaurant on Northwest Louisiana Avenue and when she returned about an hour later it was gone and nobody had turned it in.

MISSING MEDS

• An officer was called to the 400 block of Centralia College Boulevard about 4:30 p.m. yesterday regarding the theft of medications, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CHRISTMAS SHOP(LIFT)ING

• Centralia police responded to three reports of shoplifting within a half an hour at the Centralia Outlets yesterday evening. Two males who took jacket from a store at the 100 block of West High Street were caught on video but not apprehended, according to the Centralia Police Department. A male reportedly stole two pairs of shoes from a business on the 1300 block of Lum Road. And then just after 7 p.m., an officer responding back to High Street arrested a 16-year-old boy for stealing a pair of shoes, according to police. He was released and the case is being referred to prosecutors for third-degree theft, according to police.

DRUGS

• A 19-year-old was arrested for possession of methamphetamine following a traffic stop about 12:30 a.m. today at Wilson Street and 16th Avenue in Chehalis. Uriah W. Osborne, a homeless person, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A 19-year-old man with him was arrested by Chehalis police for possession of marijuana and then released with a court date, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

SHOOTING COMPLAINT

• Chehalis police were called just before 4 p.m. yesterday about someone on Northwest Florida Avenue repeatedly firing a weapon. An officer contacted someone who had recently moved there and perhaps did not know that discharging a firearm inside city limits is prohibited, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

ON THE ROAD

• Police and medics responded about 4:35 p.m. yesterday to a collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle at Fourth and Pearl streets in Centralia. The bicyclist was checked out and his injuries minor enough he was able to ride away, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ASSAULT ON CHRISTMAS

• A large inflatable Santa Claus and snowman on display at in the front yard of a residence on the 600 block of Tucker Road outside Toledo were slashed with a knife while their 81-year-old owner and her husband were out at a high school basketball game on Friday evening. The victim said the deflation took place sometime between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The loss is listed at $200.

ASSAULT ON SLEEPING MAN

• Chehalis police were called about 11:25 p.m. yesterday by an individual on Southwest William Avenue who said he was awakened by someone spraying a fire extinguisher on him. The case is under investigation, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

MISSING GAMES

• Centralia police were called just after 10 o’clock yesterday morning about the theft of a Xbox and games from the 1400 block of Johnson Road.

MISSING MEDS

• Chehalis police were called about 3:15 p.m. on Friday to take a report of stolen medication from the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court. About 30 tablets were missing but nothing else was taken, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

MISSING STOVE

• Deputies arrested a 38-year-old man yesterday afternoon in connection with a used stove stolen from a 95-year-old Onalaska resident on Nov. 8. Damion E. Robbins, also of Onalaska, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for residential burglary, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Prosecutors however declined to file the felony charge. Deputies are trying to find the appliance now, the sheriff’s office reported this morning.

• Officers responded to the 400 block of Third Street to a reported infant left in a vehicle at about 2:35 a.m. yesterday morning. When the officer arrived and checked the vehicle, it was just a basket.

• Chehalis police and firefighters were called about 10:40 a.m. yesterday when a man was discovered bleeding and laying in the road on Northwest Folsom Street. The incident is under investigation, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 32-year-old Seattle man was arrested for driving under the influence after a single-vehicle collision at about 12:15 a.m. on Saturday at Chilvers Road near Brockway west of Chehalis. Perry F. Elvy’s 2008 Ford F350 was totaled and he sustained a cut above his eye as well as injuries to an ankle and a finger, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Elvy was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

BANK ACCOUNT DRAINED AFTER PHONE CALL

• A 48-year-old man contacted police yesterday to inform them he learned his account at a Centralia bank was emptied out. According to police, the victim had gotten a phone call from someone who said they were with Dell computers and managed to get his personal information in the process of a conversation. The amount of money the man lost was not readily available.

POLICE: POINTING GUN PUTS MAN IN JAIL

• A 61-year-old man whose neighbor told him to stop pointing a laser pointer at his face allegedly pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the neighbor instead. He was arrested. Officers were called about 10:20 p.m. on Friday to the 500 block of Yew Street by the 37-year-old victim who had retreated from his porch back into his home and called 911, according to the Centralia Police Department. Allen R. Barney, 61 of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, according to police.

AUTO THEFT

• Centralia police were contacted about 8:50 a.m. yesterday about a car stolen during the night from the 700 block of South Ash Street and then recovered on Tono Road by the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. It was a black 1997 Honda Accord, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called about 6:50 p.m. on Friday about a 2001 Honda Civic stolen by its owner’s friend from the 200 block of West Cherry Street on Wednesday and then wrecked a short time later in Thurston County. The suspect was taken to the hospital and police are still investigating, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called just before 6 p.m. on Friday about a red 1999 Ford F150 pickup truck stolen from the 1600 block of North Scheuber Road in Centralia. The vehicle has a license plate of B82422Y, according to the Centralia Police Department. Officer have a suspect, but she has not been located, according to police.

OUTDOOR FURNITURE STOLEN

• Police were called about 2:15 p.m. yesterday to the 700 block of G Street where an individual reported the theft of a white wicker rocking chair from their front porch.

VANDALISM

• Somebody slashed tires on a vehicle parked at the 600 block of Richmond Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police on Friday morning.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 77-year-old woman was injured when her car crossed the centerline, struck an oncoming Subaru Outback and then left the roadway over a ditch and into a fence near Mayfield Lake this afternoon. Troopers called just before 5 p.m. today to state Route 122 near Cinebar Road report that Delphine E. Tramm was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol. The driver of the Subaru, Mark H. Pearson, 66, of Silver Creek was reportedly uninjured. The wreck is blamed on Tramm driving over the centerline and no charges are expected, according to the state patrol.
