PUSHING AND SHOVING

• A 57-year-old Centralia man was jailed after he allegedly shoved a police officer in the chest at Safeway yesterday afternoon. Officers had been called to store on the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue about 6 p.m. about a disorderly person who was reportedly harassing customers and refusing to leave, according to the Centralia Police Department. While officers were dealing with him, James F. Deach Sr. shoved Officer Chad Withrow, which was followed by a short struggle, police reported. Deach was arrested for third-degree assault and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• Deputies were called to an Onalaska residence about 9:15 p.m. on Monday to take a report that a 17-year-old boy had threatened a trick-or-treater with a knife. The 14-year-old victim said the older boy threatened to “F-ing” kill him, took a knife from his pocket, and opened the blade, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The 17-year-old allegedly pushed the boy trying to get him to fight, but the boy walked away, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning. The 17-year-old told a deputy he was only trying to scare the boy. The case was referred to the prosecutor’s office for a possible charge of second-degree assault. It’s not clear what the dispute was about.

• Chehalis police were called about 11:15 a.m. yesterday about a 14-year-old boy reportedly pushing a 15-year-old boy around at W.F. West High School. The case was referred for a possible charge of fourth-degree assault, according to police.

THEFT

• Someone broke out a window and stole a telescope, a metal detector and two Motorola “walkabout” radios from an recreational vehicle parked at the 200 block of Jorgenson Road in Onalaska sometime between Oct. 24 and yesterday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• A deputy was called yesterday to a shop building on the 100 block of Johnson Road in Onalaska where someone had attempted to break in sometime since Friday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The owner found sheet metal screws had been removed from the siding, but the would-be thief apparently gave up after finding his or her way blocked plywood and insulation, the sheriff’s office said.

• Police were called to a business on the 1200 block of Mellen Street yesterday morning after someone had gone inside overnight and taken candy, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Someone stole more than $1,000 of valuables from a vehicle parked at the 100 block of Hemphill Road in Winlock, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. Taken was a Panasonic Blu-ray DVD player, about 100 children’s DVDs, a purse, cash, Percocet and another prescription medication. It happened sometime between midnight and 10 a.m. yesterday, the sheriff’s office said.

VANDALISM

• Police were called just before noon yesterday to the 200 block of East Summa Street in Centralia where someone had broken out the window of a vehicle overnight.

POLICE SHUT DOWN CHEHALIS LOUNGE

• Officers visited a restaurant on the 300 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue last night to notify the owner she can’t continue operating until her city business license is back in order, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Paradise, formerly known as Paradise Restaurant and Lounge, changed owners about a year ago.

ANOTHER FIRE IN BOISTFORT UNDER INVESTIGATION

• Firefighters were called about 1:30 p.m. yesterday to a motor home on fire behind a residence in the Boistfort area. The resident on the 200 block of Lake Creek Road discovered the blaze in the RV in which his nephew was storing items, according to Fire Investigator Derrick Paul. The motor home and its contents were destroyed, Paul said this morning. The fire is about a half mile from Saturday night’s fire in which a 46-year-old woman found her porch burning, Paul said. He didn’t know if the two were related, but said the motor home fire is under investigation.

ELDERLY PEDESTRIAN HIT BY VEHICLE AT GAS STATION

• A 90-year-old man was hospitalized yesterday morning after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the AM/PM on the 100 block of U.S. Highway 12. The Wenatchee resident was walking from the fuel pumps into the store when he was hit by a small sport utility vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Bellevue woman, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He complained of knee and hip pain and was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

THEFT

• A 1995 Chevrolet S14 pickup truck was reported stolen from where it was parked in the front yard of a residence on the 1100 block of Highway 603 in Chehalis yesterday morning. Its owner told a deputy it went missing sometime between 10 p.m. on Sunday and 7:30 a.m. yesterday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The truck is turquoise and silver with a license plate reading B26303S, according to the sheriff’s office.

DRUGS

• Police arrested two people at a Centralia motel last night for drug violations, including possession of cocaine and heroin. The arrests occurred about 9 p.m. at the 1300 block of Lakeshore Drive, according to the Centralia Police Department. John R. Ryan, 55, and Laura J. Korn, 49, both of Kodiak, Alaska, were booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police. Further details such as the amount of drugs related were not readily available.

ASSAULT

• A 56-year-old Toledo woman was arrested last night for second-degree assault after she allegedly tried to strangle her live-in boyfriend. Deputies were called to a dispute about 6:30 p.m. at the 400 block of Jackson Highway South, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were told she grabbed him, ripping his shirt, and pulled him onto the sofa and put her hands around his neck, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning. He suffered  cuts to his face, Brown said. Debbie A. Dobash, 56, was booked into the Lewis County Jail. She was angry about shotgun shells they were looking for, according to Brown.

THEFT

• A 19-year-old Chehalis resident was arrested for first-degree robbery after he allegedly stole cell phone chargers from Wal-Mart on Saturday afternoon and gave an employee a bloody lip before fleeing the store. Zachary J. Johnston-Penrose was picked up less than an hour later at a residence after an officer recognized two of his companions on security video, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Centralia police took a report on Saturday of the theft of pain medication from the 200 block of Oakview Avenue.

• A 41-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for third-degree theft after she allegedly put $1 into a newspaper box and removed 11 copies of the paper just before 4 a.m. on Saturday at the 300 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia.

• Chehalis police are investigating the fraudulent use of a debit card that was stolen in a vehicle prowl in Centralia, used in Chehalis and reported on Friday morning.

• Centralia police were called to five car prowls on Friday between about 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Among the items stolen: a purse from a vehicle parked at a motel on Belmont Avenue; a purse and three canes from a vehicle parked on the 900 block of South Schueber Road; a purse from the 1200 block of Mellen Street; a purse containing medication from the 2800 block of Russell Road and a stereo from the 400 block of Lakeshore Drive.

PRANK

• Chehalis police were called about 5 p.m. on Saturday after two little children reportedly vandalized a neighbor’s Halloween decorations on Southwest Third Street. The subjects were 6 and 7 years old, and legally not capable of committing a crime, so an officer spoke with their parents, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

GOOD DEED

• A money bag containing about $7,000 in cash and checks belonging to a Centralia church reportedly fell off a vehicle near Harrison Avenue and West First Street in Centralia on Thursday, according to police. A citizen found the bag and contacted the church about returning it, according to the Centralia Police Department.

WRECKS

• Two women were taken to Providence Centralia Hospital after a two-car crash in Adna this morning, according to Lewis County Fire District 6. Firefighters were called about 7 a.m. to the wreck at state Route 6 near Highway 603, according to Firefighter Mike Goodwillie.

• Riverside Fire Authority was called about 2:30 a.m. today to the 1600 block of Cooks Hill Road where a vehicle drive through a fence and struck a house. The damage to the house and vehicle was minimal, according to Fire Capt. Tim Adolphsen. Centralia police however arrested a 26-year-old Rochester resident, Francis E. Metcalf, for driving under the influence.

• A 23-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for hit and run as well as driving under the influence after a vehicle ran into a tree on Centralia College Boulevard and South Pear Street in Centralia about 1:40 a.m. yesterday. Terra M. Fager was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 20-year-old Centralia man was cited for reckless driving after he reportedly ran into a building on the 1000 block of Eckerson Road in Centralia about 9 p.m. on Friday, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 41-year-old Onalaska woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle yesterday after a single-vehicle collision on the 100 block of View Ridge Road in Onalaska, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy responding about 2:20 p.m. yesterday to a report of an abandoned, wrecked car found the woman had crashed around 4:30 a.m. and called her son to take her to the hospital, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. She was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital and she was flown by helicopter to Harborview about 10 o’clock yesterday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

MORTON CHILD LURING UPDATE

• Morton police continue to investigate the attempted child luring of a school children reported the Friday before last near Morton Elementary School. An 11-year-old boy told police a man driving a white pickup truck offered him $20 if he would get into the vehicle. A 12-year-old boy at the same time told an officer a similar incident that occurred the day before. The Morton Police Department this morning said they are following up on leads as they come in, but offered no other update.
