• Centralia police were contacted about 1:15 p.m. yesterday to take a report of death threats made to a local person, in a case associated with the 700 block of Harrison Avenue. Police are investigating.

• A boy, younger than 18, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center yesterday for allegedly making threats to harm staff members at school. An officer responding to the 900 block of Johnson Road following an approximately 8:25 a.m. yesterday call labeled the case harassment.

CONTEMPT OF COURT

• A 55-year-old Centralia woman was ordered by a judge to be jailed for 24 hours after she was found to be in contempt of court yesterday. Bethia L. Williams was allegedly disorderly, contemptuous, and (displayed) insolent behavior towards the judge during proceedings in Centralia Municipal Court, according to the Centralia Police Department.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• Chehalis police were called about 9:40 a.m. yesterday to take a report of a second-degree burglary at the 2500 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue.

• Chehalis police were called just before 9 a.m. yesterday to take a report of the theft of a truck from the 2500 block of North National Avenue. The gray 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 has been missing for a couple of weeks, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called to the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at about 10:15 a.m. on Monday to take a report of a second-degree burglary.

• Chehalis police were called to the 2500 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue at about 12:45 p.m. on Monday to take a report of a second-degree burglary.

• Construction materials were stolen from a building site at the 1800 block of Ahlers Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 12:30 p.m. yesterday.

• A generator was stolen from a residence at the 700 block of Vienna Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 10:15 a.m. yesterday.

CAR PROWL

• Centralia police got a report of a vehicle prowl  about 6:30 a.m. today at the 3300 block of Borst Avenue.

• Centralia police were called to the 1000 block of South Gold Street about 8:50 a.m. on Monday where someone had reportedly gained access into the fenced yard of a business and broke into a vehicle.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 24-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for driving under the influence as well as hit and run following an approximately 7:40 p.m. call yesterday associated with the 800 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia. Yuriy Gaidaichuk was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 63-year-old Tenino man was injured when his Ford Ranger struck the rear of a Ford 350 pickup on northbound state Route 395 about nine miles north of Pasco this morning. Daniel Green was transported to Lourdes Medical Center and cited for speed too fast for conditions, according to the Washington State Patrol. The other driver was reportedly unhurt.

AXE SCARE

• At approximately 10 a.m. today, the school in Oakville was placed on lockdown because of a report of a male walking in the area carrying an axe and yelling. Law enforcement responded and detained the 30-year-old Oregon resident, according to the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office. He had not made any direct threats and appeared to be having mental health issues, according to the sheriff’s office. The man, who was in the area visiting family, was taken into protective custody and transported to the hospital to be evaluated by a mental health professional.

THEFT

• Four vehicles were prowled in the area of 600 South Cedar Street in Centralia, according to reports made to police about 9:25 a.m. on Saturday. Pictures were taken of the subject, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called about 10:40 a.m. on Friday to the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place where a hotel customer said that items including a bankcard were taken from her wallet in her room, after she went to bed and locked the deadbolt.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called to the 1200 block of West Chestnut Street following the discovery on Friday morning that during the night, the driver’s side window of a vehicle parked in the driveway had been broken.

• Centralia police reported on Saturday morning they were investigating an alleged assault reported to them about 12:40 p.m. on Friday, in a case associated with the 300 block of West Chestnut Street.

BIG THEFT

• Chehalis police yesterday arrested a woman for first-degree theft in a case reported the afternoon of Jan. 30 from a business at the 1400 block of Northwest Airport Road involving the theft of money. The owner of Riverside Golf Course thought deposits were missing and an audit concluded that more than $90,000 vanished between May 2018 and last month, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Barbara A. Simons, 69, from Centralia, the accountant, was interviewed by detectives yesterday and claimed she had a gambling problem, according to police. Simons was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

• A resident used a dry-chemical extinguisher to put out a stovetop fire but left the premises before a neighbor spotted flames on the roof in Centralia yesterday. Firefighters called about 11 a.m. to the 1300 block of Kulien Avenue found no one inside when they arrived but discovered flames had traveled up through the stove vent, through the attic and onto the roof, according to Riverside Fire Authority. They put the fire out and checked the rest of the building for further extension, but found none, according to fire Capt. Scott Weinert. The damage was described as moderate. Inside the kitchen, fire had originated on the stove and burned the cabinets above, according to Weinert. A fire extinguisher was sitting on the counter. Crews made contact with the owner a little later and he reported that he had received a call from an occupant that there had been a kitchen fire in the residence but he had extinguished it. The fire department advises people to call them when there is an accidental fire inside their homes, as flames can easily travel in hidden places that may not be visible to the untrained observer.

GLASS BREAKING

• Centralia police were contacted about 7:15 a.m. today by an individual who reported the driver’s side window of their vehicle had been broken at the 1200 block of West Chestnut Street.

• Police were called to the 1000 block of Roosevelt Street in Centralia about 6:25 a.m. today where the rear window of their vehicle had been broken.

• An unknown person threw a rock through the glass door of a business at the 1000 block of Eckerson Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 11:35 p.m. yesterday.

• Centralia police were called to the 1300 block of Lum Road at about 5:05 p.m. yesterday for a vehicle prowl. A window had been broken, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• The windows of a business were vandalized at the 100 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 11:35 a.m. yesterday.

SCAMMED

• Chehalis police were called to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue  about 10:40 a.m. yesterday following the discovery that the day before, a customer had managed to trick a cashier out of more than $1,000.

DRUGS

• A 23-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after he was contacted by law enforcement just after 1 p.m. yesterday at the 1200 block of West Main Street in Centralia. Armando I. Carbajal Paz was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called at about 7:30 a.m. yesterday for a break-in to a building at the 2500 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue. It’s unclear how someone got inside, but vandalism was found and also a flagpole rope was missing, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

•  The windows of a bus shelter were all broken out at the 1400 block of Johnson Road in Centralia, possibly from a BB or pellet gun, according to a report made to police about 7:40 p.m. yesterday.

• Centralia police were called to the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at 11:45 a.m. yesterday where they took a report from an individual who said they loaned their cell phone to a male who then walked away with it.

• Police were called at about 11:25 a.m. yesterday regarding a vehicle prowl at the 200 block of Denny Way in Centralia in which various electronics were stolen.

• Chehalis police were called at 1:40 p.m. yesterday regarding a possible burglary to a building at the 2500 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue. It did not appear anything was actually missing, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FRAUD

• Chehalis police were contacted about 9:40 a.m. yesterday by an individual who discovered a check someone had written them was returned because of insufficient funds.

DRUGS

• A 19-year-old Centralia resident arrested about 3:20 p.m. yesterday for an outstanding warrant at the 200 block of South Cedar Street in Centralia was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance, Xanax, according to the Centralia Police Department. Reese W. Giddings was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

CAT FREED, NEIGHBOR ARRESTED

• A 67-year-old woman who was allegedly caught on camera going in to her neighbor’s garage to release a feral cat he’d caught with a live trap was arrested for first-degree trespassing. Officers called to the 500 block of North Buckner Street in Centralia at 10:25 a.m. yesterday issued the citation to Nancy M. Laszinski and then released her pending court, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were notified just before 9 a.m. yesterday that graffiti had been spray painted onto a garage at the 600 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue.
