ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 19-year-old Centralia woman was injured this morning when she fell asleep at the wheel and wrecked her Jeep Grand Cherokee on a Grays Harbor County highway. Troopers called just after 8 a.m. to state Route 8 two miles east of McCleary report Alycia I. Gerou was transported to Capitol Medical Center. Gerou was eastbound when her vehicle began to swerve, left the roadway and spun into the cable barrier median, according to the Washington State Patrol. She was not wearing a seat belt and is expected to be cited for second-degree negligent driving, according to the state patrol. The totaled Jeep was impounded.

VEHICLE THEFT

• Centralia police were called at 8:10 p.m. yesterday about the  theft of a gray 1989 Ford F350 pickup truck from the 600 block of North Tower Avenue. It has a license plate reading B13924P, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Police were called about 2:20 p.m. yesterday regarding a purse stolen from a vehicle at the 1000 block of West Main Street in Centralia.

FRAUD

• Chehalis police were contacted yesterday morning by a business on Northwest Louisiana Avenue following a phone call in which someone tried to transfer money via phone to Western Union. It seemed suspicious and the caller was “smooth” but the transfer wasn’t made, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

HOUSEHOLD THEFT

• Chehalis police were called yesterday to Southwest 11th Street where some marijuana went missing and a family member was suspected.

MAYBE NOT A THEFT

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said this morning an outdoor lantern believed stolen from the 100 block of Topaz Court outside Winlock turned out to be misplaced. The 76-year-old woman who reported on Wednesday she thought her home was burglarized on Monday thinks her missing Ellipsis 8 electronic tablet may also have been misplaced, according to the sheriff’s office.

STOLEN FIREARMS LOCATED

• Lewis County sheriff’s deputies have recovered several stolen guns and other items in connection with a burglary last week at the 400 block of Coal Creek Road outside Chehalis. Members of the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team served a search warrant on Wednesday off Steam Boat Island Road NW northwest of Olympia, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called on the evening of June 15 when a 52-year-old man discovered his home had been broken into and ammunition as well as at least eight rifles and two handguns were missing. The loss was over $10,000. No arrests have yet been made in the case, Cmdr. Dusty Breen indicated this morning.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• A deputy responded yesterday afternoon to a residential burglary at the 100 block of Topaz Court outside Winlock. It appeared someone manipulated the lock on a sliding door to get inside, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Stolen was an Ellipsis 8 electronic tablet and an outdoor lantern, according to the sheriff’s office. Cmdr. Dusty Breen said the incident occurred on Monday between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

• Centralia police were called about 6:15 p.m. yesterday to the 1000 block of L Street where a motorcycle had been stolen from a garage. It was subsequently found a couple of blocks away, according to the Centralia Police Department. Police are investigating.

• Centralia police were called to the 800 block of Ham Hill Road in Centralia about 12:15 p.m. yesterday where a bicycle had been stolen from a garage.

• A lawn mower was reported stolen yesterday from the 600 block of K Street in Centralia.

• A 38-year-old homeless person was arrested about 12:30 p.m. yesterday for second-degree theft in a case associated with the 1800 block of Cooks Hill Road in Centralia. Jason A. Landry was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An unspecified type of yard ornament was stolen from inside a fenced yard at the 700 block of Euclid Way in Centralia, according to a report made to police yesterday.

• Police were called at 7:50 p.m. yesterday to a vehicle prowl at the 600 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia. A window was smashed and someone rummaged through the vehicle but it’s unknown if anything is missing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

FRAUD

• Chehalis police were called about 9:25 a.m. yesterday to Bishop Road about a suspected altered prescription. The case is under investigation, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

UNDERAGE DRINKING

• Chehalis police were called about 7:40 p.m. yesterday and told a 15-year-old girl had been drinking beer taken from a relative’s home. The case is being referred to prosecutors for possible charges of third-degree theft as well as minor in possession/consumption of alcohol, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called to the 2600 block of Eureka Avenue at 7:20 a.m. yesterday where someone had intentionally struck several garbage cans with their vehicle.

BREAK-IN CHEHALIS

• Chehalis police were called about 9:50 p.m. yesterday for a burglary at a house on the 400 block of Southwest 14th Street. The case is still under investigation, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning that an Arctic Cat ATV vanished from a barn on the 200 block of Carroll Road outside Chehalis sometime between June 15 and Monday. The owner said it was stored there for farm use and the tenants didn’t see or hear anything, according to the sheriff’s office. The loss is $4,000.

THEFT CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called about 11:30 a.m. yesterday regarding a burglary to an unlocked garage at the 200 block of West Cherry Street. Missing is a Stratocaster guitar and some change, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called at 12:35 p.m. yesterday about property stolen from the rear yard at the 500 block of K Street in Centralia. Taken was a Yamaha TT600 cc motorcycle, a Honda lawnmower and a bicycle, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A Centralia man who lives at a camp site just north of the 1600 block of Delaware Avenue reported yesterday that when he woke up his bicycle and visitor from the night before were both gone. Shannon K. Kilgore, 47, a homeless Centralia resident, was located with the bike near the 600 block of North Tower Avenue and arrested for third-degree theft and an outstanding warrant, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Kilgore was booked into the Lewis County Jail. The bike was returned to its owner, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning.

MISSING PLATE

• Chehalis police yesterday took a report of a license plate stolen from a car, although the victim didn’t know where it occurred.

DRUGS

• Police were called to Green Hill School yesterday afternoon regarding marijuana found in a cell. The case is still under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Three people were arrested yesterday after drug detectives conducting surveillance on a Chehalis motel watched a visit they suspected was to sell methamphetamine to a pair of guests. The surveillance by JNET began at an unspecified time on Monday, according to charging documents and all three were booked into the Lewis County Jail yesterday. Kelly R. White, 22, and Deanangelo O. Dunn, 32, were charged today in Lewis County Superior Court with possession of meth as well as endangerment with a controlled substance as they allegedly admitted smoking the drug in the presence of their 3-month-old baby. The visitor, Daniel J. Barton, 31, of Centralia, was charged with delivery of meth, possession of meth with intent to deliver (based on 6.7 grams of the drug police said they found in his pocket) and possession of (several pills) hydrocodone. Barton’s bail was set this afternoon in court at $10,000. The Chehalis couple was allowed release on $5,000 unsecured bonds.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were called about 7:10 a.m. today regarding a window shot with a BB at the 400 block of Northwest Prindle Street.

THREAT: “GUT HER LIKE A FISH”

• A 59-year-old Winlock man was charged yesterday in Lewis County Superior Court with harassment for allegedly telling a woman passenger in his car if she ever tried to leave him again, he was going to gut her like a fish. The woman said the two were arguing and when he made the statement, he stuck his hand behind his back as though reaching for a knife, according to court documents. The woman told a deputy she allowed Robert W. Puckett drive her back to his home on Wilson Road in Winlock on Monday, although he has a history of stalking her and she cannot get away from him, court documents relate. Puckett reportedly told the deputy the disagreement was whether the two of them are in a relationship with him believing they are and her believing they are not. Puckett also told the deputy when his van stopped in front of his house, she jumped out and ran down the road. The crime has a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Puckett was booked into the Lewis County Jail but yesterday in court was allowed release on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
