ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A white Ford Crown Victoria was impounded last night after a police pursuit that began just before 11 p.m. on Rush Road near Kirkland Road and ended when the driver lost control trying to turn onto West Cherry Street in Centralia. The car spun out, the driver bailed out and ran off, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Deputy Breen said a deputy had attempted a traffic stop when a return showed the vehicle’s registered owner’s driver’s license was suspended. The chase went onto Jackson Highway towards U.S. Highway 12, into the Napavine area and continued northbound on Interstate 5, Breen said. Two passengers were contacted and then released, according to the sheriff’s office. A K-9 track was conducted without success.

BB GUN DISPLAYED

• Chehalis police were called about 5:45 a.m. today to the 1700 block of North National Avenue where an individual allegedly made threats to another person and displayed what was possibly a pistol. Police arrested 58-year-old George R. Kehm from Longview for second-degree assault and booked him into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department. In a search following his arrest, a BB gun was located, according to police.

SHOPLIFTING SCUFFLE

• A suspected shoplifter at the 1700 block of North National Avenue in Chehalis was pinned to the ground by several employees yesterday and subsequently booked into the Lewis County Jail. Officers called just after 3:30 p.m. were told when the man was confronted, a scuffle ensued, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Merchandise including a knife and an axe were found on his person, according to police. John L. Lybbert, 47, from Centralia, was arrested for first-degree robbery, police said.

CENTRALIA BREAK-IN

• Centralia police were called just after noon yesterday to the 1400 block of South Gold Street where a business was burglarized during the night.  The incident was captured on video surveillance and is still under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• Shaylee R. Elder, 26, of Centralia was found to be in possession of methamphetamine when contacted by police at the 500 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia about 4:20 p.m. yesterday, according to the Centralia Police Department. She was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were called about 3:20 p.m. yesterday by an individual at the 1900 block of Southwest Snively Avenue who said their vehicle had been egged several times. Beginning about 2:20 a.m. today, an officer on patrol discovered several vehicles egged, at the 800 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue, the 400 block of Southeast Washington Avenue and near Northwest St. Helens and Pennsylvania avenues, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

KNIFE THREAT

• A 38-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for second-degree assault after police were called about 1:45 a.m. today about a woman on a porch crying for help at the 600 block of Southwest 19th Street in Chehalis. Police concluded the suspect had held her down and threatened her with a knife at a nearby residence, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Bryant D. Nolan was contacted, arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

WILD RIDE ENDS WITH ARREST

• A 27-year-old man who allegedly refused to stop a vehicle in which his mother was a passenger was finally pulled over by a trooper on Interstate 5 yesterday in Lewis County and arrested for unlawful imprisonment. The mother called 911 and said her son was speeding, intentionally veering towards other drivers and experiencing some type of psychosis, according to charging documents. Christopher Mantele, of Lake Elsinore, California, reportedly admitted to consuming methamphetamine three days earlier. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

BUSINESS BURGLED

• Centralia police called about 3:40 a.m. today to a business on the 100 block of South Tower Avenue located a 26-year-old homeless person who had allegedly broken in, while armed with a knife.  Jeremy L. Rumley Jr. was arrested for first-degree burglary and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY CENTRALIA

• A deputy was dispatched about 11 a.m. yesterday to a break-in at the 3400 block of Harrison Avenue that had occurred sometime since noon last Wednesday. Someone had forced entry into the back of an apartment attached to a garage and damaged two windows, a door and a door handle, but it appeared nothing was stolen, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

ALLEGED: SHOTS FIRED DURING BURGLARY INCIDENT

• A 40-year-old Centralia man was arrested yesterday morning after allegedly using bolt cutters to get inside a large storage container at the 1000 block of Garrard Creek Road west of Centralia. Deputies dispatched just before 6:30 a.m. were told the victim and neighbors chased the suspect vehicle through the Lincoln Creek area and it was located on River Heights Road, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Ty D. Martin, of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail. Martin told a deputy he thought he heard gunshots coming from the white Toyota chasing him, as did his passenger, according to charging documents. Charging documents state the the victim reporting the incident said there had been some shooting, and he and a neighbor chased a car after the shooting. Martin was charged today in Lewis County Superior Court with second-degree burglary and third-degree malicious mischief. His bail was set at $50,000. Further details about the shooting were not readily available.

FRAUD

• Centralia police were called about 8:30 p.m. yesterday by an individual who said his wallet had been stolen and his credit card fraudulently used in a case associated with the 100 block of West High Street. The incident was captured on video surveillance, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called to a business on the 1200 block of South Market Boulevard about 10 a.m. yesterday to take a report about fraud.

FELONY SHOPLIFTING

• Centralia police called about 7:20 p.m. yesterday to the 1300 block of Lum Road arrested a 59-year-old woman who allegedly had shoved 10 pieces of clothing into her underwear and attempted to alter and defeat security detection devices. Sharon Teal, from Portland, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for retail theft with special circumstances, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MISSING JEWELRY

• Centralia police were called to the 500 block of South Cedar Street about 3:10 p.m. yesterday to take a report that two rings had been stolen from the residence over the Christmas holiday.

CAR PROWL

• Chehalis police responded to a car lot on the 1900 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue for suspicious activity about 1:25 a.m. today and arrested a 34-year-old Lakewood woman for vehicle prowl as well as an outstanding warrant. Rebecca L. Parks was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

SHOTS FIRED ON U.S. HIGHWAY 12

• A 32-year-old Mossyrock man was arrested after deputies were called about 11:35 a.m. on Sunday about a possible drive-by shooting on U.S. Highway 12 near Gershick Road in Silver Creek. No injuries were reported. A deputy talked to witnesses who said Roberto L. Mendez discharged at least two shots from a firearm out of the driver’s side window of a black 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. His vehicle was seized, according to the sheriff’s office. Chief Deputy Breen said there was some sort of dispute between Mendez and the victim, a 39-year-old man from Winlock. Mendez reportedly said he thought the other individual was following him so he fired the shots into the air, according to Breen. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail for drive-by shooting, Breen said.

THREAT TO KILL

• A 40-year-old man from Curtis was arrested for felony harassment after a woman reported her ex-boyfriend threatened to shoot her over a disagreement about parenting during the holiday season. A deputy called about 8:15 p.m. on Friday to the 2400 block of Wildwood Road eventually booked Gregory G. White into the Lewis County Jail. White allegedly tried to head butt a deputy, Chief Deputy Breen said.

BIG HEIST INTERRUPTED

• Two Oregon men were arrested early Monday morning after a deputy on patrol on Hamilton Road North outside Chehalis discovered the attempted theft at two businesses in the area. The Lewis County Sheriff’s office reports items that were stolen but recovered including a large tool box with tools valued at $100,000 and a medium-sized tool box valued at $30,000. Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said deputies found inside one of the businesses a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado loaded up with tools and other equipment. The investigation began after a deputy contacted a female in a vehicle parked on the side of the road who said the vehicle was having issues and her boyfriend was getting help, Breen said. Deputies followed footprints in the snow and found one shoeless suspect and after a short foot pursuit, found a second suspect. Booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary and other offenses were Donald E. Emery III, 48, from St. Helens, Oregon and Derrick L. Lyons, 31 of Warren, Oregon, Breen said.

BURGLARY CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday to the 300 block of Linda Lane where multiple hand tools had been stolen from a shop building.

AUTO THEFT

• A blue 2002 Subaru Outback was stolen sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. on Sunday from the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia.

• Chehalis police were called about 4:15 p.m. on Saturday about a car left in the parking lot at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue discovered the 2018 Infiniti Q56 was stolen in Bremerton. It was impounded, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Centralia police were called about 2:50 p.m. on Sunday for a vehicle prowl at the 100 block of South King Street. A cell phone was stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MONEY MISSING

• Centralia police were called to the 1500 block of Kresky Avenue about 7:25 p.m. on Monday where the cash collection device on a vending machine was stolen. The incident was caught on surveillance video and police are looking for a suspect vehicle, according to the Centralia Police Department.

SUPER SHOPLIFTING

• A Tacoma resident was arrested for organized retail theft after police were called to the 1400 block of Lum Road about 2:15 p.m. on Sunday. Thea M. Smith, 37, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• Chehalis police called about noon on Sunday to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue for a suspected shoplifter also turned up suspected methamphetamine in a search incident to the arrest. Anna L. Lowery, 30, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 34-year-old shoplifting suspect who allegedly fled from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was found to be in possession of a pipe and suspected methamphetamine on Friday morning. Talea K. Shuffelen, of Ashford, was was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VANDALISM

• A window to a building at the 2000 block of Borst Avenue in Centralia was reported broken just before 2 p.m. on Saturday.

• A 49-year-old man was booked into the Lewis County Jail after a series of events that began when he allegedly rear-ended an SUV occupied by a family of five on the 1400 block of Mellen Street in Centralia and fled the scene. Deputies arriving just before 7 p.m. on Saturday for a truck in a ditch on the 1700 block of Airport Road were told the driver had punched a man in the face who had stopped to check, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Mitchell W. Sinclair, of Centralia, was arrested by Centralia police for hit and run as well as second-degree driving with a suspended license, according to the Centralia Police Department. The sheriff’s office arrested him for driving under the influence, fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest and operating motor vehicle without required ignition interlock device, according to Chief Deputy Breen.

• Centralia police were called just before 1:30 p.m. yesterday to the 400 block of West Pine Street where a 19-year-old allegedly entered a house he was restrained from by a court order and threatened an individual with a knife. Nigel C. Christian, 19, of Centralia, was arrested for first-degree burglary and booked in to the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

TOOLS TAKEN

• Multiple hand tools were reported stolen in a burglary to a house that was being remodeled at the 500 block of King Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 8:45 a.m. yesterday.

BATTERIES TAKEN

• RV batteries were reported stolen from a travel trailer at the 900 block of L Street in Centralia about 10 a.m. yesterday.

HIDDEN GUN

• A 37-year-old Centralia resident was arrested about 2:40 a.m. today at West Main and South Silver streets for allegedly carrying a concealed pistol without a license. Romulo Yanez Jr. was arrested and then released pending court, according to the Centralia Police Department.

HIDDEN GIRL

• Centralia police yesterday morning were to issue a summons to appear in court to a 20-year-old Centralia man who allegedly lied to officers about the location of a runaway juvenile. The juvenile was located at his residence on the 100 block of Jalyn Street and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center on her warrant, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• All four occupants of two passenger vehicles were transported to Providence Centralia Hospital after an approximately 8:20 p.m. collision on the overpass above Interstate 5 at 13th Street in Chehalis last night, according to the Chehalis Fire Department.

• Noah C. Tornow, 25, of Centralia, was arrested for hit and run after he was located by police shortly after allegedly causing a collision with another vehicle and then fleeing the scene in a case associated with First and N streets in Centralia about 4:30 p.m. yesterday, according to the Centralia Police Department. Tornow was then released pending court, according to police.

BURGLARY TOLEDO

• A Toledo area woman arrived home from work yesterday to find jewelry scattered onto a bedroom floor and various valuables missing. A deputy responding just before 9 p.m. to the 200 block of Blakely Drive learned that among the items stolen were a gold wedding band, five to six silver dollar coins and a container holding about $800 in change, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said it happened between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. yesterday.

• Chehalis police were called just before 7 a.m. today for the theft of a vehicle from the 300 block of Southwest Third Street.

• Chehalis police were called to the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue about 7 p.m. yesterday for a vehicle prowl.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle accident in which the driver was partially ejected but trapped when her vehicle crashed into trees along Centralia-Alpha Road near Oppelt Road east of Chehalis. Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Breen said the 54-year-old woman from Cinebar was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with possible broken legs and internal injuries. It happened around 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Breen said. The 2006 Ford F250 pickup was totaled, he said.

• Chehalis police were called about 1:50 p.m. yesterday to the 300 block of Southwest Pacific Street to take a report of a burglary to a garage. Approximately $900 worth of hand tools and power tools were missing, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

GREEN HILL SCHOOL ASSAULT

• Chehalis police were called yesterday morning to Green Hill School to take a report of an incident occurring on Nov. 22 in which a 17-year-old student-inmate allegedly punched a staff member during a dispute between student-inmates. A case for custodial assault is being submitted to prosecutors, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 17-year-old boy was arrested after the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree about 3:40 p.m. yesterday at Long Road and Alder Street in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department.
