ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A white Ford Crown Victoria was impounded last night after a police pursuit that began just before 11 p.m. on Rush Road near Kirkland Road and ended when the driver lost control trying to turn onto West Cherry Street in Centralia. The car spun out, the driver bailed out and ran off, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Deputy Breen said a deputy had attempted a traffic stop when a return showed the vehicle’s registered owner’s driver’s license was suspended. The chase went onto Jackson Highway towards U.S. Highway 12, into the Napavine area and continued northbound on Interstate 5, Breen said. Two passengers were contacted and then released, according to the sheriff’s office. A K-9 track was conducted without success.

BB GUN DISPLAYED

• Chehalis police were called about 5:45 a.m. today to the 1700 block of North National Avenue where an individual allegedly made threats to another person and displayed what was possibly a pistol. Police arrested 58-year-old George R. Kehm from Longview for second-degree assault and booked him into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department. In a search following his arrest, a BB gun was located, according to police.

SHOPLIFTING SCUFFLE

• A suspected shoplifter at the 1700 block of North National Avenue in Chehalis was pinned to the ground by several employees yesterday and subsequently booked into the Lewis County Jail. Officers called just after 3:30 p.m. were told when the man was confronted, a scuffle ensued, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Merchandise including a knife and an axe were found on his person, according to police. John L. Lybbert, 47, from Centralia, was arrested for first-degree robbery, police said.

CENTRALIA BREAK-IN

• Centralia police were called just after noon yesterday to the 1400 block of South Gold Street where a business was burglarized during the night.  The incident was captured on video surveillance and is still under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• Shaylee R. Elder, 26, of Centralia was found to be in possession of methamphetamine when contacted by police at the 500 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia about 4:20 p.m. yesterday, according to the Centralia Police Department. She was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were called about 3:20 p.m. yesterday by an individual at the 1900 block of Southwest Snively Avenue who said their vehicle had been egged several times. Beginning about 2:20 a.m. today, an officer on patrol discovered several vehicles egged, at the 800 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue, the 400 block of Southeast Washington Avenue and near Northwest St. Helens and Pennsylvania avenues, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
