K9 TRACKS DOWN FOUR TEENS WHO FLED CAR

• A police dog was summoned after an officer attempted to contact the occupants of a vehicle in a parking lot just after 1 a.m. today and the five people inside fled. It happened near North Schueber and Russell roads in Centralia. Officer Ruben Ramirez and his partner Lobo tracked down four of the subjects, boys ages 15, 16, and 17, according to the Centralia Police Department. Inside the vehicle was marijuana and a pipe, according to police. The 17-year-old was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for taking a motor vehicle – his parent’s – without permission, according to Sgt. Kurt Reichert. Other potential charges are pending, according to police. Only one of the boys sustained a superficial wound from contact with the police dog, according to Reichert.

THEFT

• Police were called to a home on the 1300 block of Eckerson Road in Centralia yesterday about the theft of a gold necklace. Sgt. Kurt Reichert said the price of gold is upwards of $2,000 an ounce nowadays.

• Police were called to the 700 block of Euclid Way in Centralia on Wednesday about the unauthorized use of a debit card.

MOM ARRESTED

• A 47-year-old Centralia mother was arrested early yesterday morning at the 3000 block of Borst Avenue for unlawful imprisonment after she allegedly assaulted her daughter and prevented her from leaving the home. Sharon R. Deeks was booked into the Lewis County Jail, also for fourth-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department. She is however being released from jail without charges for now.

DRIVER WITH NO ID JAILED

• An 18-year-old Chehalis man who was driving without a license yesterday was booked into jail because he had nothing to prove who he was, according to the Centralia Police Department. Freddie E. Bautista was detained after contact with an officer just before 7 p.m. on the 600 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia, according to police.

CAR PROWL

• A 35-year-old Packwood woman reported yesterday her bank cards had been used around the county after her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle on Sunday morning while it was parked at the Blue Spruce Tavern on the 13000 block of U.S. Highway 12 in Packwood. Missing are four credit cards, a debit card and $200 cash, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office has descriptions of a pair of potential suspects, according to the sherif’s office.

• Pills were reported stolen from a vehicle on the 3200 block of Galvin Road in Centralia on Wednesday night.

VANDALISM

• Police were called just after 20 p.m. yesterday to the 2800 block of Russell Road in Centralia regarding three slashed tires on a vehicle. Police have a person of interest in the case, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An officer took a report yesterday morning regarding a building on the 400 block of West Main Street in Centralia being tagged overnight with graffiti.

• Police were called to the 2500 block of Sharon Street in Centralia about 4:40 a.m. yesterday when someone broke a window with a rock.

• Police were called to North Tower Avenue and East Fourth Street about 9 p.m. on Wednesday where someone had smashed out the windshield and a window of a vehicle.

DRUGS

• A 44-year-old man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after he was detained for an outstanding warrant about 12:30 a.m. today at the Hub Tavern on the 100 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia. Dwayne J. Thomas, a homeless person, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

55-INCH TV STOLEN FROM CHEHALIS RESIDENCE

• Chehalis police were called just before 10 p.m. yesterday to the 600 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue regarding a break-in. Among the missing items are a 55-inch flat screen television, a wedding band, two compound bows and DVD, according to the Chehalis Police Department. There are no suspects, according to police.

MISSING HONDA CAR

• Police are looking for a stolen Honda, a black 1992 Prelude that went missing from the 100 block of Virginia Drive in Centralia. An officer took a report about 12:30 a.m. today. The car has a license plate of ADK 6583, according to the Centralia Police Department.

SHOPPER LOSES DEBIT CARDS

• Centralia police were called just before 4 p.m. yesterday by an individual who said he lost his wallet while at the Centralia Outlets and then discovered someone had used both his debit cards.

DOMESTIC ISSUE LEADS TO CHASE

• A short foot pursuit and a brief struggle with a suspect just before 2 p.m. yesterday at the 1200 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia ended with the arrest of a 22-year-old man wanted for earlier in the day violating a no-contact order regarding his ex-girlfriend, according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers looking for Ronald A. Yeager found him and booked him into the Lewis County Jail for multiple offenses, including resisting arrest, obstruction, possession of methamphetamine, stalking and harassment, according to police.

DRUGS

• Two people were arrested for drug offenses following a traffic stop about 2:20 a.m. today at North Schueber Road and Borst Avenue in Centralia. The driver, Jennifer L. Schroeder, 27, of Chehalis, had an outstanding warrant and was seen trying to hide pills under her leg, according to police. And an officer found a bag of suspected heroin next to the passenger seat where Michael J. George, 23, of Centralia, was sitting, according to the Centralia Police Department. Both were booked into the Lewis County Jail.

BIG HAUL

• Someone broke into a home on the 100 block of Fircrest Road outside Chehalis while the resident were away over the weekend and made off with more than $10,000 worth of valuables including two guitars, a keyboard, a drum set, a mixer and cymbals, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy called after the discovery yesterday evening learned the thief or thieves got inside by removing the handle on a sliding glass door, according to the sheriff’s office. Among the other items stolen were fishing and camping gear, a small safe, two snow boards, a knife set, a rifle scope, a bow and alcohol, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said. The victim had been the subject of a vehicle prowl recently in Lakewood, where documents containing his address were taken, according to Brown.

ANOTHER VICTIM AT PACKWOOD CENTER

• A deputy took a report yesterday from a woman who said her wallet was stolen from her purse on Sunday evening while at the  Packwood Community Center on the 12,000 block of U.S. Highway 12, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

HOLIDAY MALICIOUS MISCHIEF

• Chehalis police were called to Northwest New York Avenue yesterday morning regarding outdoor Christmas lights which someone had broken.

• Two inflatable Santa Claus’s were apparently knifed at the 800 block of Northwest Hood Place in Chehalis over the weekend. An officer called on Saturday afternoon found they were punctured and torn and would no longer inflate, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

REGULAR MALICIOUS MISCHIEF

• A 25-year-old Centralia man was arrested about 8:25 p.m. last night for allegedly throwing a bottle at a vehicle during a dispute at the 1200 block of Mellen Street, according to the Centralia Police Department. Justin R. Smith was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• Police were called just before 4 p.m. yesterday to the 1100 block of Long Road in Centralia to take a report someone had shot the window of a home with a pellet gun.

• The sheriff’s office took a report yesterday regarding mailboxes and posts being removed from the area around the 100 block of Tr-Mountain Lane southeast of Centralia, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

WHAT’S THAT SMELL?

• Morton police responded to a complaint of the smell of marijuana about 10 a.m. on Saturday in the 100 block of Third Street. The caller was advised the source of the odor was legal if coming from a residence, according to the Morton Police Department. It couldn’t be determined where the smell came from, according to police.

• Chehalis City Hall was evacuated just before 11 a.m. yesterday after a fire broke out on a switch panel in the elevator room in the basement. Firefighters used a dry chemical fire extinguisher to smother the small bit of remaining fire after its source was discovered, according to the Chehalis Fire Department. The damage is estimated at $50,000.

VEHICLE PROWL WEEKEND

• Centralia police were called about 3:25 a.m. today to the 1500 block of Lewis Street where a suspected car prowler was confronted and chased down by the victim. Police say the prowler, Christopher D. Buck, 27, of Chehalis, tried to head butt the male who caught him so Buck was arrested for misdemeanor assault. Buck, and another suspect in the prowling, Christian D. Brown, 25, of Centralia, were both booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called about 9:30 a.m. yesterday to the 1300 block of Kayu Lane in Centralia where four unlocked vehicles had been prowled. Missing was money and a hunting knife, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning a purse was taken from one vehicle and a laptop computer from another vehicle at the Packwood Community Center on the 12,000 block of U.S. Highway 12 in Packwood last night between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

• A Carhart jacket and some CDs were stolen from a vehicle on the 1700 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police yesterday morning.

• An individual reported on Saturday prescription medication was stolen overnight from a vehicle parked on the 1000 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia, according to police.

• Centralia police took a report of a vehicle prowl on Friday morning from the 400 block of West Plum Street in Centralia.

• A rain coat was stolen from a vehicle parked on the 400 block of North Oak Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police on Friday morning.

• Two 50-foot lengths of copper wire along with $5 in change were reported stolen from a motor home on recreational property on the 100 block of Evans Road outside Toledo, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. The victim said it happened sometime between Nov. 18 and Nov. 24, according to the sheriff’s office.

ROOFING MATERIALS STOLEN

• Police were called about 10 a.m. Saturday to a burglary at a house that is being remodeled in which roofing materials were taken. Someone forced open the back door of the  unoccupied home is on the 2100 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VEHICLE THEFT

• Police were called about 9 a.m. yesterday regarding an attempted vehicle theft at the 100 block of Yew Street in Centralia. Someone broke the ignition, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A Centralia woman’s stolen car turned up on Friday destroyed by fire and abandoned on TransAlta property at the end of Little Hanaford Road outside Centralia, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was a 1992 Honda Accord, according to the sheriff’s office.

FRUAD REPORT

• Centralia police took a report on Saturday from the 200 block of West Oakview Street of an unauthorized charge found on an individual’s credit card.

DRUGS

• A 30-year-old Centralia man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine about 12:30 p.m. yesterday after contact with an officer at the 200 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia. Isaiah C. Marlow was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A pair of 11-year-old boys were contacted by police at the 200 block of East Oakview Avenue in Centralia on Friday afternoon regarding possession of marijuana. The case is being referred to juvenile prosecutors for a charging decision, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called about 2:40 p.m. yesterday to the 800 block of West Pine Street and a complaint a garage door was tagged with spray paint.

CAR MISSING

• A deputy was called just after midnight when a 1992 Honda valued at $500 vanished from where it was parked in front of a house on the 1600 block of J Street in Centralia, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

TOOL HEIST

• Approximately $10,000 worth of tools were stolen in a barn burglary on the 200 block of Blankenship Road in Mossyrock, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. Taken was also a Craftsman top-mount toolbox and a rolling tool box, according to the sheriff’s office. A deputy was called on Wednesday about the theft that occurred sometime between sometime between Saturday and Sunday, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown.

OUTBUILDING BURGLARIES

• A Stihl chain saw was stolen from a shed on the 100 block of Borovec Road in Chehalis sometime between 6 p.m. on Wednesday and 11:30 a.m. yesterday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• A Stihl chainsaw, hedge trimmer and weed eater were stolen from a storage shed on the 1500 block of Bishop Road in Chehalis sometime between 11 a.m. on Wednesday and 11 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

SUSPECT FLEES WAL-MART

• A 19-year-old man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly was caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart and then fled from security personnel. Police called about 3 p.m. to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue were told the suspect picked items from the shelves and attempted to return them in exchange for a gift card. He was taken to “loss prevention” but then fled the store, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Johnny R. Vancil, from Spokane, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Centralia police were called about 5:30 a.m. today to the 500 block of North Rock Street regarding three car prowls. Nothing appeared to be missing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called yesterday to two incidents of tire slashings. The first was reported on the 400 block of Madison Street just before 8 a.m. and the other was discovered on the 600 block of Jackson Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.

FATAL COLLISION

• A head-on crash southeast of Yelm in Thurston County last night left one woman dead and another – a 40-year-old Tenino resident – injured, according to the Washington State Patrol. According to the state patrol, Fiona M. Regan, of Tenino, fell asleep and drove her Isuzu Trooper into the oncoming lanes where it collided with a an Isuzu Amigo driven by a 55-year-old Puyallup woman. Trooper called about 9:40 p.m. to 161st Way and Smith Prairie Road reported Linda H. Burkhardt of Puyallup was taken to Harborview Medical Center where she died. Regan was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia with unspecified injuries, according to the state patrol.

DEER WRECK

• A 19-year-old driver was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital yesterday after he swerved to miss a deer and rolled his car on the 500 block of Larmon Road in Ethel, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s office. A deputy called about 1:25 p.m. found the Geo Metro totaled and the driver suffering from neck pain, according to the sheriff’s office.

TEEN FOUND WITH MARIJUANA

• Centralia police were called yesterday morning to the 800 block of Eshom Road regarding a 17-year-old boy with marijuana at Centralia High School. The case will be referred for possible charges, according to the Centralia Police Department.

SEARCH WARRANT IN CHEHALIS

• A 41-year-old Chehalis man was arrested when police served a search warrant just before 7 a.m. this morning at the 200 block of Southwest Second Street. Suspected meth was found in a zip lock baggie in his pants, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Thomas D. Crews was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to a department spokesperson, Officer Linda Bailey. Information about what officers were searching for wasn’t immediately available.

SEX ABUSE

• A 38-year-old Randle man pleaded not guilty yesterday to allegations of sex abuse involving a young relative. David C. Haviland  was in Lewis County Superior Court following his was arrest last week when incidents going back to 2008 were disclosed to a counselor and subsequently to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Haviland, who worked at Hampton mill for 16 years, according to his attorney, was ordered in July to undergo evaluations for domestic violence as well as drug and alcohol issues related to an April arrest involving an assault of a family member. His sentence in that case gave him one day in jail but was suspended for five years. He remains in the Lewis County Jail held on $250,000 bail.

PARKING LOT BRAWL

• One person was arrested when a fight broke out between a pair of young men collecting signatures for a petition at Wal-Mart last night. Chehalis police called about 9:40 p.m. to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue were told Michael P. Arrants, 23, of Vancouver, Wash. thought he’d been scammed regarding his pay and tried to get the 21-year-old victim to get out of his car and fight, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Arrants allegedly opened the vehicle door and slapped and kicked at the victim, who got out and punched Arrants, according to police. When the victim tried to apologize and help Arrants up, Arrants allegedly threw a bottle shattering the rear window of a vehicle, Sgt. Brian Hickey said. Arrants appeared intoxicated and subsequently nodded off, so he was taken to the hospital to be checked out before being booked into the Lewis County Jail for disorderly conduct and malicious mischief, Hickey said.

THREE ARRESTS INSTEAD OF ONE

• Three people were arrested yesterday evening when Centralia police went to a suspect’s home to detain him for an earlier alleged domestic violence incident.  Raul Paramo-Rangel, 45, and Sarah J. Villalobos, 38, reportedly denied the suspect was there at the home on the 500 block of West Fourth Street and refused to let officers in to look, according to the Centralia Police Department. Paramo-Rangel blocked the doorway and was wrestled to the ground and handcuffed, according to Sgt. Kurt Reichert. She was arrested for obstructing, he was arrested for obstructing and resisting, according to police. Alex L. Paramo, 22, was arrested for the domestic violence incidents involved fourth-degree assault and malicious mischief, according to police. All are Centralia residents, all were booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

MARIJUANA AND OTHER STUFF

• Centralia police arrested a 17-year-old Rochester boy this morning following an overnight burglary in which two bongs were reported stolen from a residence on the 1100 block of South Pearl Street. An officer called about 12:06 a.m. learned a window was broken out of the home while the resident was away, according to the Centralia Police Department. The teen was subsequently arrested for first-degree burglary and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center, according to police. The two marijuana bongs were found and returned to their owner, according to Sgt. Kurt Reichert.

• A 17-year-old girl was arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia after contact with police about 11:40 a.m. yesterday at the 800 block of Eshom Road in Centralia.

• A 24-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for possession of about 100 grams of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine related to a pipe found when she was pulled over for a traffic violation about 12:15 a.m. today on the 2900 block of Jackson Highway South of Chehalis.  Ashley C. Huner was also allegedly driving with a suspended license, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. She was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

• An 18-year-old Chehalis area resident called the sheriff’ office yesterday when he heard voices by his shop and subsequently saw one person running towards the brush and then a white Ford pickup driving away. It happened just before 1 p.m. at the 1600 block of North Fork Road, according to the lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Nothing appeared to be missing, the sheriff’s office said.

THEFT OF GUITAR

• A guitar and amplifier were reported stolen from a home on the 800 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia yesterday afternoon.

TWO BURGLARIES ON BIG HANAFORD ROAD

• The sheriff’s office reported this morning that a shop and barn on the 100 block of Big Hanaford Road outside Centralia were burglarized just before 3 a.m. yesterday, in the case that led to the arrest of three people in Centralia in a stolen van. As deputies responded to the call, they observed various pieces of apparent stolen property along the road that turned out to have come from another burglary on the 300 block, from a vacant residence, according to the sheriff’s office. Andrew J. Larson, 20, Chad E. Holmes, 24, and William J. Larson, 49, were arrested for burglary, along with offenses alleged by Centralia police.

WANTED WINLOCK MAN TURNS SELF IN

• Winlock resident John I. Burkett was arrested this morning on a $100,000 warrant for alleged witness tampering in his assault case that is scheduled to go to trial next week. Burkett, owner of an automobile sales business in Centralia, called a Chehalis detective yesterday to let him know he would be at  Lewis County Superior Court today for a pre-trial hearing, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Officers let him handle his court business and then took him into custody for the warrant, Sgt. Brian Hickey said. Burkett’s attorney Chris Baum said his client disputes the witness tampering allegation.

BURGLARY SUSPECTS CAPTURED IN STOLEN VAN

• Law enforcement officers dealing with an interrupted burglary out on the county caught up to a suspect vehicle on the 1500 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia about 3 o’clock this morning and arrested three men, one of whom ran away but was caught by a police dog. Police allegedly found drugs on two of the van’s occupants and the Toyota mini van they were driving had been stolen from a car lot on North Pearl Street, according to the Centralia Police Department. Arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail were Centralia residents Andrew J. Larson, 20,  for vehicle theft; Chad E. Holmes, 24, for possession of methamphetamine and vehicle theft; and William J. Larson, 49, for vehicle theft, possession of methamphetamine and possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, according to police. Details about the earlier burglary were not readily available.

SHOPPER GRABS JEWELRY AND RUNS

• Chehalis police were called to the Twin City Town Center about 10:15 a.m. yesterday after a male went into a beauty supply store, grabbed a large jewelry display from the front counter and ran out with it. He jumped into a vehicle and drove away, according to police. The loss is estimated at more than $750, Officer Linda Bailey said.

STOLEN HONDA CIVIC

• A red and gray 1986 Honda Civic was stolen from the 2100 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia sometime between 4 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. yesterday. It has a license plate of ABY 9445, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• A 44-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine around 12:30 p.m. yesterday at the 1100 block of F Street in Centralia. Cheri A. Jones was detained for violation of a protection order, and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ACCIDENT AT CENTRALIA TRANSFER STATION

• Police and aid were called to the Lewis County Transfer Station on the 1400 block of South Tower Avenue about 10 a.m. yesterday when a driver arriving to unload trash accelerated, ran through a stop sign, along a guard rail and collided with the tire of a front end loader. The 60-year-old Rochester man had suffered an unspecified medical issue and was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital, according to police.
