THEFT

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office was called about 1:40 p.m. yesterday by a man who said his 1996 Honda Accord had been stolen from 400 block of Young Road near Mossyrock. The stolen car was found about a half hour later by a sheriff’s detective, being driven by a 14-year-old boy along the 1400 block of state Route 122, according to the sheriff’s office. The teenager, who is a friend of one of the victim’s children, was arrested and booked for theft of a vehicle into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning.

• Centralia police were contacted yesterday by a small store on the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue, La Perla, about a possible theft, with a loss of more than $2,500. The case is under investigation.

• Police took a report yesterday morning that someone stole a laptop computer, a cell phone and a leather coat from an apartment on the 1400 block of Johnson Road in Centralia.

DRUGS

• A 48-year-old Chehalis woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine about 1:30 a.m. today at the southbound freeway off ramp to Mellen Street in Centralia, according to police. Veronica L. Valderrama was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Businesses along West Main Street in Centralia continued to make reports yesterday of finding gang graffiti left on their exteriors, according to police. That brings to seven or eight the number of victims in the area since Sunday morning, police Sgt. Kurt Reichert said.

DEPUTIES SHOT AT WITH BB GUN IN WINLOCK

• A 14-year-old boy trying to avoid arrest reportedly held off deputies for a time inside his Winlock home with a Red Ryder-style BB gun last night. Deputies responding about 6:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of King Road about the teenager allegedly having grabbed and shook his mother, went into the house to find the barrel of a BB gun pointed at them from the top of the stairs, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The 14-year-old fired at two deputies before they were able to get the weapon away from him, but then jumped through a closed upstairs window onto the roof where he stayed for a half hour before law officers were able to talk him down, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning. The 14-year-old was subsequently booked into the Lewis County Jail Juvenile Detention Center for two counts of third-degree assault and fourth-degree assault, Brown said.

DEPUTIES ARREST PERSISTENT 911 CALLER UPSET ABOUT RACCOONS

• A 62-year-old Packwood man was jailed early yesterday after he reportedly tied up a 911 line for almost two hours with non-emergency related questions such as requesting a date with a dispatcher and asking about a permit to shoot 12 raccoons he believed had ripped “one guy’s face off,” according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Albert A. Nolette, who was arrested at his home, was booked for intimidating a public servant after he also spoke to the transporting deputy about calling in the Aryan Nations, ambushing the deputy at his home and maybe using a machete, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

MAN DEFENDING MOTHER’S DRIVING TAZED

• A 31-year-old Chehalis man was Tazed and arrested for obstruction after he reportedly got irate when deputies arrested his mother for driving under the influence after a single-vehicle wreck on Saturday evening on the 3700 block of Jackson Highway. Deputies called about 6:35 p.m. found the vehicle in a ditch with front end damage and arrested the driver, Linda M. Lyon, 50, for DUI, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Her son, Jacob A. Fruh, 31, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown.

DRUGS

• A 23-year-old Centralia woman was arrested yesterday after a traffic stop in Centralia for possession of heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana and then allowed to go on her way without being booked into jail. Officers found a “couple of loaded syringes, some white powder and less than 40 grams of marijuana,” about 11:30 a.m. at the 1600 block of North Pearl Street, according to police. The case was referred for possible charges but the woman was not jailed because of “medical issues”, police Sgt. Kurt Reichert said. Reichert didn’t say what the illness or injury was but said if police put someone in jail who is medically infirm, the city would be responsible for the costs of any related medical care needed.

• A 34-year-old Salkum resident wanted on a warrant was arrested after a traffic stop early Sunday morning in Chehalis turned up suspected methamphetamine, according to Chehalis police. Joshua Wildman was booked into the Lewis County Jail after contact with officers about 1:35 a.m. on the 500 block of Northeast Washington Avenue, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 36-year-old man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after contact with police about 9:20 p.m. on Friday on the 400 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia. Albert L. Brown, of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

THEFT

• A deputy took a report on Saturday at the 100 block of Vista Road in Mossyrock that someone had broken into a travel trailer and stolen bedding, miscellaneous medication, a power cord and a game camera, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Police were called to the 500 block of Cedar Street in Centralia on Friday morning about a residential burglary in which jewelry and money were taken.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning that a blue 1987 Ford pickup was stolen from the 2000 block of Rice Road in Chehalis on Friday morning. It has a license plate of B67144P, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown. Also taken was a black 12-foot utility trailer which was attached, Brown said.

• A pair of 11-year-old girls were turned over to their parents after they allegedly attempted to steal a cell phone and pre-paid calling calling cards totaling almost $1,000 at Wal-Mart in Chehalis yesterday afternoon. The retailer on the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue chose not to pursue theft charges, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Centralia police called about 11:30 p.m. last night to the 1200 block of Mellen Street in Centralia were told a male wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and shorts ran out the back door with two cases of Corona beer without paying.

• Centralia police took a report of a car prowl yesterday afternoon at the 1800 block of North Pearl Street.

WRECKS

• Deputies are looking for a purple Pontiac of Dodge after it left a front fender behind when it ran into a trailer yesterday morning on the 100 block of Holloway Drive in Chehalis. The 13-foot tent trailer parked in front of a residence was knocked onto its side around 10 a.m. yesterday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Centralia police found a reported stolen vehicle abandoned after it was involved in a traffic accident on Friday. Police note a time of 8:09 a.m. and an address of the 2400 block of Seward Avenue but didn’t say if it was found at that location or stolen from that location.

GRAFFITI

• Centralia police took a report of graffiti spray painted on the side of a business on the 600 block of West Main Street yesterday morning.

• Chehalis police were called Friday afternoon to the 100 block of Southwest 11th Street where someone had used purple spray paint to leave a “pretty big” message on the side of a home, simply saying “F*** U”, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FIRE

• Smoke coming from a second-story apartment in Centralia yesterday was caused by a dryer that caught on fire, although sprinklers knocked down the flames before it could spread. Riverside Fire Authority was called just after 1:45 p.m. to the building on the 1800 block of North Pearl Street and checked neighboring apartments for possible extension of any fire, according to Capt. Scott Weinert. The damage from the fire was minimal, but there was water damage from the sprinklers, Weinert said.

• Police were called to  W.F. West High School in Chehalis on Friday morning after smoke coming from a restroom prompted an evacuation. Someone had lit a small piece of paper on fire which either did or could have caught a wall on fire, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

THEFT

• Centralia police took a report yesterday morning that someone stole several rolls of toilet paper from a business on the 1100 block of Mellen Street. An intruder apparently got in through a window, Officer John Panco said. The name and even the type of business are being withheld because the investigation continues, according to Panco.

• Centralia police took a report yesterday evening of jewelry and other valuables taken from a home on the 2400 block of Seward Avenue while the victim was incarcerated.

• Chehalis police were called just before 2:30 p.m. yesterday about a break-in at a home on Northeast Adams Avenue.

• Chehalis police were contacted yesterday afternoon about a car prowl at Yard Birds on the 2100 block of North National Avenue.

• Police were called yesterday morning to a car prowl at a hotel on the 1200 block of Alder Street. A window was smashed out and a towel and a box were stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

WRECK

• A 24-year-old man was hospitalized after a car in which he was a passenger ran into the rear of a semi on Interstate 5 just south of the Lewis-Cowlitz county line last night. Troopers called about 6:30 p.m. to the northbound lanes at milepost 56 found a 1995 Subaru totaled and only about $3,000 damage to the Freightliner’s trailer, according to the Washington State Patrol. The car’s driver, McKinzie A. Taylor, 26, was not injured, the state patrol reported. The passenger, Jeffrey R. Taylor, 24, sustained a laceration to his face and was transported to St. John Medical Center in Longview, according to the patrol. The two are from LaCenter.

ASSAULT

• A 12-year-old Randle boy was arrested last night after he allegedly held a knife toward his brother’s throat and threatened to use it if he told on him, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies called to the home on the 100 block of Cline Road about 7:30 p.m. found the victim scared but unhurt, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said. The brother was arrested second-degree assault and booked into Lewis County Juvenile Detention. The boy’s names were not released because they are juveniles.

ASSAULT AND DRUGS

• A 39-year-old Centralia man was arrested for possession of drugs after officers patted him down when they responded to a misdemeanor assault at his home last night in Centralia. Police, called about 11 p.m. to the 100 block of South cedar Street, found suspected methamphetamine as they investigated an allegation he shoved his girlfriend, according to the Centralia Police Department. Michael L. Watkins was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

DRUGS AND POSSIBLE THEFT

• Centralia police said they found suspected stolen power tools and suspected drugs when they responded to a possible overdose of a 24-year-old Chehalis man in a garage on the 100 block of West Roanoke Street. The individual was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital, Officer John Panco said this morning. Among the items found were suspected heroin residue on a knife and a white powdery substance that will be tested, Panco said.

THEFT

• Officers attempted a dog track without success after a Centralia resident opened her front door and thought she heard someone going out the back yesterday evening on the 800 block of South Silver Street. Police, called about 5:20 p.m. learned a debit card and cash were missing and a number of items – such as a game system – were stacked up as though ready to be spirited out of the home, according to Officer John Panco.

CRASH

• A 37-year-old Centralia man was hospitalized after what was described as a head-on collision yesterday in south centralia. Deputies were called about 4:45 p.m. after a 61-year-old Centralia woman driving a Ford Taurus blew a stop sign on East Summa Street, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Her car collided in the intersection of Kresky with a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe, the sheriff’s office reported. She declined treatment but the male driver of the Tahoe was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital with unspecified injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

PUSHING AND SHOVING

• A 57-year-old Centralia man was jailed after he allegedly shoved a police officer in the chest at Safeway yesterday afternoon. Officers had been called to store on the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue about 6 p.m. about a disorderly person who was reportedly harassing customers and refusing to leave, according to the Centralia Police Department. While officers were dealing with him, James F. Deach Sr. shoved Officer Chad Withrow, which was followed by a short struggle, police reported. Deach was arrested for third-degree assault and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• Deputies were called to an Onalaska residence about 9:15 p.m. on Monday to take a report that a 17-year-old boy had threatened a trick-or-treater with a knife. The 14-year-old victim said the older boy threatened to “F-ing” kill him, took a knife from his pocket, and opened the blade, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The 17-year-old allegedly pushed the boy trying to get him to fight, but the boy walked away, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning. The 17-year-old told a deputy he was only trying to scare the boy. The case was referred to the prosecutor’s office for a possible charge of second-degree assault. It’s not clear what the dispute was about.

• Chehalis police were called about 11:15 a.m. yesterday about a 14-year-old boy reportedly pushing a 15-year-old boy around at W.F. West High School. The case was referred for a possible charge of fourth-degree assault, according to police.

THEFT

• Someone broke out a window and stole a telescope, a metal detector and two Motorola “walkabout” radios from an recreational vehicle parked at the 200 block of Jorgenson Road in Onalaska sometime between Oct. 24 and yesterday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• A deputy was called yesterday to a shop building on the 100 block of Johnson Road in Onalaska where someone had attempted to break in sometime since Friday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The owner found sheet metal screws had been removed from the siding, but the would-be thief apparently gave up after finding his or her way blocked plywood and insulation, the sheriff’s office said.

• Police were called to a business on the 1200 block of Mellen Street yesterday morning after someone had gone inside overnight and taken candy, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Someone stole more than $1,000 of valuables from a vehicle parked at the 100 block of Hemphill Road in Winlock, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. Taken was a Panasonic Blu-ray DVD player, about 100 children’s DVDs, a purse, cash, Percocet and another prescription medication. It happened sometime between midnight and 10 a.m. yesterday, the sheriff’s office said.

VANDALISM

• Police were called just before noon yesterday to the 200 block of East Summa Street in Centralia where someone had broken out the window of a vehicle overnight.

POLICE SHUT DOWN CHEHALIS LOUNGE

• Officers visited a restaurant on the 300 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue last night to notify the owner she can’t continue operating until her city business license is back in order, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Paradise, formerly known as Paradise Restaurant and Lounge, changed owners about a year ago.

ANOTHER FIRE IN BOISTFORT UNDER INVESTIGATION

• Firefighters were called about 1:30 p.m. yesterday to a motor home on fire behind a residence in the Boistfort area. The resident on the 200 block of Lake Creek Road discovered the blaze in the RV in which his nephew was storing items, according to Fire Investigator Derrick Paul. The motor home and its contents were destroyed, Paul said this morning. The fire is about a half mile from Saturday night’s fire in which a 46-year-old woman found her porch burning, Paul said. He didn’t know if the two were related, but said the motor home fire is under investigation.

ELDERLY PEDESTRIAN HIT BY VEHICLE AT GAS STATION

• A 90-year-old man was hospitalized yesterday morning after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the AM/PM on the 100 block of U.S. Highway 12. The Wenatchee resident was walking from the fuel pumps into the store when he was hit by a small sport utility vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Bellevue woman, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He complained of knee and hip pain and was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

THEFT

• A 1995 Chevrolet S14 pickup truck was reported stolen from where it was parked in the front yard of a residence on the 1100 block of Highway 603 in Chehalis yesterday morning. Its owner told a deputy it went missing sometime between 10 p.m. on Sunday and 7:30 a.m. yesterday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The truck is turquoise and silver with a license plate reading B26303S, according to the sheriff’s office.

DRUGS

• Police arrested two people at a Centralia motel last night for drug violations, including possession of cocaine and heroin. The arrests occurred about 9 p.m. at the 1300 block of Lakeshore Drive, according to the Centralia Police Department. John R. Ryan, 55, and Laura J. Korn, 49, both of Kodiak, Alaska, were booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police. Further details such as the amount of drugs related were not readily available.

ASSAULT

• A 56-year-old Toledo woman was arrested last night for second-degree assault after she allegedly tried to strangle her live-in boyfriend. Deputies were called to a dispute about 6:30 p.m. at the 400 block of Jackson Highway South, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were told she grabbed him, ripping his shirt, and pulled him onto the sofa and put her hands around his neck, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning. He suffered  cuts to his face, Brown said. Debbie A. Dobash, 56, was booked into the Lewis County Jail. She was angry about shotgun shells they were looking for, according to Brown.

THEFT

• A 19-year-old Chehalis resident was arrested for first-degree robbery after he allegedly stole cell phone chargers from Wal-Mart on Saturday afternoon and gave an employee a bloody lip before fleeing the store. Zachary J. Johnston-Penrose was picked up less than an hour later at a residence after an officer recognized two of his companions on security video, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Centralia police took a report on Saturday of the theft of pain medication from the 200 block of Oakview Avenue.

• A 41-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for third-degree theft after she allegedly put $1 into a newspaper box and removed 11 copies of the paper just before 4 a.m. on Saturday at the 300 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia.

• Chehalis police are investigating the fraudulent use of a debit card that was stolen in a vehicle prowl in Centralia, used in Chehalis and reported on Friday morning.

• Centralia police were called to five car prowls on Friday between about 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Among the items stolen: a purse from a vehicle parked at a motel on Belmont Avenue; a purse and three canes from a vehicle parked on the 900 block of South Schueber Road; a purse from the 1200 block of Mellen Street; a purse containing medication from the 2800 block of Russell Road and a stereo from the 400 block of Lakeshore Drive.

PRANK

• Chehalis police were called about 5 p.m. on Saturday after two little children reportedly vandalized a neighbor’s Halloween decorations on Southwest Third Street. The subjects were 6 and 7 years old, and legally not capable of committing a crime, so an officer spoke with their parents, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

GOOD DEED

• A money bag containing about $7,000 in cash and checks belonging to a Centralia church reportedly fell off a vehicle near Harrison Avenue and West First Street in Centralia on Thursday, according to police. A citizen found the bag and contacted the church about returning it, according to the Centralia Police Department.

WRECKS

• Two women were taken to Providence Centralia Hospital after a two-car crash in Adna this morning, according to Lewis County Fire District 6. Firefighters were called about 7 a.m. to the wreck at state Route 6 near Highway 603, according to Firefighter Mike Goodwillie.

• Riverside Fire Authority was called about 2:30 a.m. today to the 1600 block of Cooks Hill Road where a vehicle drive through a fence and struck a house. The damage to the house and vehicle was minimal, according to Fire Capt. Tim Adolphsen. Centralia police however arrested a 26-year-old Rochester resident, Francis E. Metcalf, for driving under the influence.

• A 23-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for hit and run as well as driving under the influence after a vehicle ran into a tree on Centralia College Boulevard and South Pear Street in Centralia about 1:40 a.m. yesterday. Terra M. Fager was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 20-year-old Centralia man was cited for reckless driving after he reportedly ran into a building on the 1000 block of Eckerson Road in Centralia about 9 p.m. on Friday, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 41-year-old Onalaska woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle yesterday after a single-vehicle collision on the 100 block of View Ridge Road in Onalaska, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy responding about 2:20 p.m. yesterday to a report of an abandoned, wrecked car found the woman had crashed around 4:30 a.m. and called her son to take her to the hospital, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. She was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital and she was flown by helicopter to Harborview about 10 o’clock yesterday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

MORTON CHILD LURING UPDATE

• Morton police continue to investigate the attempted child luring of a school children reported the Friday before last near Morton Elementary School. An 11-year-old boy told police a man driving a white pickup truck offered him $20 if he would get into the vehicle. A 12-year-old boy at the same time told an officer a similar incident that occurred the day before. The Morton Police Department this morning said they are following up on leads as they come in, but offered no other update.
