ASSAULTS

• A sheriff’s deputy responding to a Silver Creek area home yesterday evening when a parent asked that a disorderly 50-year-old son be removed, was slapped, punched, kicked and then head butted by the man, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Initially, the deputy sergeant responding around 7 p.m. to the 1200 block of state Route 122 said the son couldn’t be arrested simply because of a verbal dispute, but as the deputy sergeant spoke with the intoxicated man, the man became aggressive and began assaulting him, according to the sheriff’s office. After the alleged assault, Dawayne C. McCash was taken to the hospital for medical clearance for an unspecified reason and they kept him because of a prior injury, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown.

• A 27-year-old Centralia man was arrested yesterday after allegedly walking toward his neighbor holding a combat knife in his hand and making a threat to kill him. A deputy called about 12:25 p.m. to the 1600 block of Windsor Avenue arrested Henry Herrera-Montealegre for felony harassment, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.  He was booked into the Lewis County Jail. Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said it is unknown what the disagreement with the 39-year-old victim was about.

• Chehalis police were called about 8:20 p.m. yesterday to the 400 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue where a 35-year-old man had allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the neck. He is wanted for second-degree assault, according to the Chehalis Police Department

JOHN DOE BOOKED

• A male from Seattle was arrested for disorderly conduct when he reportedly walked into the women’s restroom on the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue in Centralia yesterday. Police responding about 1 p.m. didn’t believe he really was the person his “documents” said he was and because he would not give his “correct” name, he was booked into the Lewis County Jail as “John Doe,” according to the Centralia Police Department. He was Hispanic, according to police.

STOLEN FIREARMS

• Centralia police took a report from the 1600 block of Sunset Way in Centralia on Saturday of two revolvers which disappeared sometime in the previous five months.

DRUGS

• A 28-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for warrants and possession of methamphetamine just after 6 a.m. yesterday at the 1500 block of Lum Road in Centralia. Nicholas A. Mullins was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 20-year-old man from Bonney Lake who allegedly gave false information to a police officer during a contact on Saturday morning at the 200 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Austin Wenner was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• The case involving a 17-year-old girl contacted about 9 a.m. on Saturday at the 200 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia was referred to prosecutors for a charge of possession of marijuana, according to the Centralia Police Department.

STEALING FUEL

• Chehalis police were called to the 1000 block of Southeast Washington Avenue on Saturday morning regarding a gas can and siphoning hose with smears of blood on them found inside a garage.

• An officer took a report of the theft of gasoline from the 1200 block of Kayu Lane in Centralia on Friday morning.

CAR PROWL

• A 73-year-old man called the sheriff’s office on Saturday after discovering his unlocked vehicle was broken into at the 800 block of Ninth Street in Vader, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Among the missing items were an electric tire gauge, a GPS device and keys, according to the sheriff’s office.

THEFT OF WOOD

• Someone cut down a tree on city property at the 1000 block of Seminary Hill Road in Centralia and left with the wood, according to a report taken by the Centralia Police Department on Friday.

VANDALISM

• Police took a report of graffiti painted on a fence about 10 p.m. on Saturday from the 500 block of West Pine Street in Centralia.

WRECKS

• A 44-year-old Winlock man escaped a single-vehicle collision with just cuts and scrapes to his forehead but was booked into jail for numerous alleged offenses last night. A deputy called about 7:45 p.m. to the 100 block of Kangas Road near Toledo found a pickup truck had struck a speed limit sign and a fence, and its driver had left and then returned, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The truck sustained major damage to its front and diver’s side, a female passenger was reportedly uninjured, according to the sheriff’s office. Brian T. Bircher was arrested for first-degree negligent driving, driving with a suspended license and driving without an ignition interlock device violation as well as hit and run, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

• A 21-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for hit and run after allegedly running into a guard rail on Friday evening near Highway 603 and Twin Oaks Road west of Chehalis. A deputy responding about 8 p.m. found an unoccupied Kia Optima parked in a field down the road, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It was impounded. Shea H. Slater was located and cited, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown. He sustained minor cuts and scratches, Brown said.

POT GARDEN DISMANTLED

• Centralia police reported yesterday they confiscated marijuana including plants after serving a search warrant at the 200 block of North King Street the evening before. While some amount of marijuana plants are allowed under certain conditions in keeping with medical marijuana laws, the Centralia Anti-Crime Team suspected the occupant had an illegal growing operation, according to police. Officers also developed probable cause to believe the occupant, a convicted felon, was in possession of several firearms which would be unlawful, according to a news release from detective Sgt. Pat Fitzgerald. Police detained the male subject as he arrived home and searched the property, seizing marijuana plants in varying stages of growth along with dried product, according to Fitzgerald. No firearms were found. Officers did however locate holsters, ammunition and gun cases, according to the news release. The initial plan was to enter the home with the SWAT team, but after learning there were children present, police switched to the less risky approach, according to Fitzgerald. The target of the investigation was not arrested, but was released pending further investigation, according to police.

SUSPECT DOESN’T RECALL DROPPING HIS SHORTS

• The man who allegedly exposed himself to a group of people during a drunken ruckus in a neighborhood alongside the Skookumchuck River on Tuesday night was located and arrested yesterday, according to Centralia police. He told an officer he was so intoxicated, he didn’t remember a thing about it, according to police. Officers called to the 1300 block of Central Boulevard that night were told one of four men made lewd remarks to some young women and pulled his swimsuit shorts down and exposed himself. A neighbor defending the females got punched in the face and someone threw a full can of beer at the women, according to police. Two of the suspects were found that night. Yesterday, Dale R. Brotherton, 51, of Centralia, was arrested for six counts of indecent exposure, according to the Centralia Police Department.

METAL THIEVES BREAK OUT WALLS

• Chehalis police were called to a vacant residence on 600 block of Southwest 20th Street regarding various damage and stolen wiring yesterday morning. It appeared someone broke a window to get inside and then tore open walls to take various plumbing fittings such as copper tubing and other items, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The residence was being renovated, according to police.

THEFT

• Centralia police were called to an assisted living facility on the 900 block of South Schueber Road about 1 p.m. yesterday regarding the suspected theft of medications. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called just after 7 o’clock this morning to Southeast Adams Avenue in Chehalis about an attempt to steal fuel from a vehicle.

CAR PROWL

• Police were called about 9:30 p.m. yesterday about a car prowl at Rotary Riverside Park on the 700 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia in which someone stole soda from a parked vehicle.

• A cell phone was taken from a vehicle parked a the 100 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police just before 5 p.m. yesterday.

VANDALISM

• A Centralia police officer took a report yesterday afternoon regarding graffiti found on the back of a garage on the 400 block of North Oak Street.

UP IN SMOKE

• Firefighters were called just before 5 p.m. yesterday to a car fire on the 1800 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue in Chehalis. The interior of the vehicle was destroyed but nobody was hurt, according to the Chehalis Fire Department. A woman was driving down the road when her back seat began burning, Firefighter Steve Emrich said. She said it was an ash from her cigarette, he said.

• A reserve officer with the Winlock Police Department is at Harborview Medical Center after he and his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck last night on state Route 6 just west of Chehalis. Aid and troopers called about 6:15 p.m. to the scene near Donahoe Road found Randy O. Steger, 29, conscious and alert but with a laceration on his foot, according to responders. Steger, who was headed home from his day job, was westbound when the truck in front of him slowed to make a left turn and he attempted to pass the truck, according to law enforcement. His 2007 Harley Davidson struck the driver’s side of the 1984 Chevrolet truck, according to the Washington State Patrol. He is to be cited for unsafe passing, according to the state patrol. The 22-year-old driver of the truck, and his 20-year-old passenger, both from Centralia, were reportedly uninjured. Steger was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital and then transferred to the Seattle hospital where he is listed in satisfactory condition. He was wearing a helmet.

• A 55-year-old Randle man was taken to Morton General Hospital after he totaled his pickup by driving into the back end of a vehicle on U.S. Highway 12 in Randle yesterday. Troopers called just before noon report a 2011 Dodge Journey had slowed down while traveling through a work zone and Michael L. Daniels rear ended it. Daniels injuries seemed to be non life-threatening, according to Lewis County Fire District 14.

THEFT

• Jewelry was reported stolen yesterday morning from a residence on the 700 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia.

• Chehalis police were called about 8:15 a.m. yesterday to a residence on Southeast Adams Avenue near Main Street where someone had removed items from a car and left them on the ground, as well as left a gas can and siphoning hose next to another vehicle.

• Centralia police were called about 10:45 a.m. yesterday about tools stolen from a fifth-wheel trailer at the 800 block of South Tower Avenue.

BURNING BUSHES

• Firefighters were called just before 4 p.m. yesterday to a grass and brush fire along state Route 6 west of Pe Ell. Lewis County Fire District 11 Chief Michael Krafczyk said it grew to about 100 feet by 40 feet before crews got it extinguished. The cause isn’t known, Krafczyk said.

RUDE REMARKS ESCALATE INTO BEER CAN TOSSING AND MORE

• A drunken ruckus over lewd comments in a Centralia neighborhood led to two arrests last night and police are still looking for a male who allegedly exposed himself. Police were called about 9:30 p.m. to the 1300 block of Central Boulevard where four males had been floating down the Skookumhuck River and drinking and when they got out, at least one of them made unwelcome remarks to three young women in bathing suits, according to the Centralia Police Department. A neighbor defending the females got punched in the face and someone threw a full can of beer at the women, according to police. The four males fled before officers arrived but three of them were located near the Pearl Street bridge, Sgt. Carl Buster said. One who refused to come out of the brush was captured by a police dog, according to Buster. Christopher K. Brotherton, 21 of Centralia, was booked for three counts of misdemeanor assault and while Antony D. Tran, 21 of Centralia, was taken to the hospital to get the dog bite on his arm checked and then cited for obstructing a public servant, according to police. The male who exposed himself is still at large.

SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS TAKEN IN BURGLARY

• Someone broke into a home on the 200 block of South Silver Street and stole three security cameras, according to a report made to police about 11:30 p.m. yesterday. They threw various items around a bedroom, but it wasn’t immediately clear if anything else was missing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

REGULAR CAMERA TAKEN IN BURGLARY

• Centralia police were called yesterday morning to a home on the 1100 block of Long Road where a Nikon camera and several pieces of jewelry were missing. A visitor to the home was questioned but denied taking anything, according to the Centralia Police Department. An officer did get some fingerprints that will be checked however, according to police.

STEREO STOLEN, WITH CAR

• A Subaru Impreza stolen very early yesterday morning from the 1300 block of Lum Road in Centralia turned up several hours later in a parking lot at the 1700 block of Lum Road. The stereo was missing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• A Chehalis police officer responding about 10 p.m. yesterday to a report that individuals in a pickup truck at Fairway Shopping Center appeared to be “snorting something” found the truck at Wal-Mart and discovered suspected heroin and methamphetamine inside it, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Deputy Police Chief Randy Kaut said it appeared the female passenger had been driving and switched seats with her male passenger. The man behind the wheel was arrested however because he had a suspended license, Kaut said. The substances were confiscated, Kaut said. Kaut said he believed no drug arrest was made pending lab reports on the two substances.

HIT AND RUN

• An individual called Chehalis police yesterday to report that a week earlier someone had struck their vehicle a week earlier while it was at Wal-Mart and left a note with their license plate number. The number was phony, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FOOT CHASE IN WINLOCK

• A 41-year-old Winlock man was arrested after a foot pursuit through briar bushes in the woods early yesterday morning, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said deputies learned Justus J. Kohlenberg was involved early yesterday morning in a collision on Shannon Lewis Lane in Winlock and since he wanted on a warrant, they went to a house in the same area where they believed he was. Kohlenberg ran off into the trees before he was apprehended, so he was also arrested for resisting arrest, according to Brown.

FUEL THEFT

• The owner of a motor home parked on Southwest 15th Street in Chehalis called police yesterday morning after discovering someone had drained the fuel tank. The loss is estimated at $80, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Someone cut a fuel line on a vehicle at the 300 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia and stole gasoline, according to a report made to police yesterday morning.

TWO-VEHICLE WRECK IN GRAND MOUND

• A 57-year-old Rochester woman was hospitalized with injuries to her leg and chest after her car was struck by a truck that blew through a red light at the intersection of U.S. Highway 12 and Old Highway 99 in Grand Mound yesterday. Aid and troopers called just after 12:30 p.m. found both vehicles totaled but the three occupants of the 1997 GMC Jimmy apparently uninjured. It’s driver, Destin R. Martini, 36, of Olympia, had two children, ages 3 and 7 with her, according to responders. Josephine E. Hayes was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

AUTO THIEF STRIKES AT COURTHOUSE PARKING LOT

• Someone stole a car out of the parking lot at the Lewis County Law and Justice Center in Chehalis yesterday. An officer summoned about 5:15 p.m. to the 300 block of Northwest North Street was told the doors to the light blue 1991 Geo Prism had been locked, with the windows rolled up, according to police. It happened sometime after 3:30 p.m., according to the Chehalis Police Department. The large lot to the east of building that houses the sheriff’s office is also where judges, prosecutors and deputies park. The car has a red hatchback; there are no suspects, Officer Linda Bailey said.

MORE AUTO THEFT

• A red 1994 Subaru Impreza was reported stolen about 2:30 a.m. today from the 1300 block of Lum Road in Centralia. It has a license plate reading AEZ 6048, according to the Centralia Police Department.

SUSPECTED THIEF FOUND BY K9

• Centralia police say they arrested a suspected car prowler who was found by a police dog hiding in some bushes early this morning. The incident was associated with a time of 3:34 a.m. and a location on the 1200 block of Elm Street. Booked into the Lewis County Jail was James A. Jollineau, no age provided, from Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department.

UNRULY MAN

• A 31-year-old man from Keizer, Ore., who was allegedly causing a disturbance in a park on the 100 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia was arrested because he refused to cooperate with an arriving police officer yesterday evening. Randall P. Martin was booked into the Lewis County Jail for obstructing a public servant, according to the Centralia Police Department.

FOUR VADER TEENS ACCUSED OF RANSACKING VACATION HOME

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning that last month’s break-in to a Vader vacation home has been solved and was wrapped up on Monday. A 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy were booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown. Last week deputies arrested a pair of boys, ages 13 and 16. Brown said the youngsters confessed to stealing numerous items – including aftershave, a 22 rifle and 30 bottles of expensive wine. They said they went down to the nearby river and drank the alcohol but tossed the other goods into the water, Brown said. The owner discovered the burglary at his place on the 200 block of Sixth Street; the back door kicked in and the home ransacked, according to Brown. The sheriff’s office said a dive team is going to try to find the missing property later this week.

• A Chehalis police officer was called to Wal-Mart yesterday morning after a small plastic bag with green polka dots containing white powder was found near an employee’s work station. The suspected methamphetamine was taken to the police department for storage and there are no suspects and as no arrest, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

CRYING BABY

• A Chehalis police officer was called to the Twin City Town Center about 7 p.m. yesterday to a report of a crying infant left alone inside a parked car. The vehicle was gone when the officer arrived and couldn’t be located, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

LOST HIKER FOUND INJURED SOUTH OF PACKWOOD

• A 66-year-old hiker who got turned around and spent the night in the forest in East Lewis County was located just after 6 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Search and rescue personnel were called to the Walupt Lake Horse Camp about 1:30 p.m. that day and told the woman, from White Salmon did not return the night before when she walked to Walupt Creek Falls, according to the sheriff’s office. A search dog found her backpack and others located rocks formed into an arrow pointing to where she had bedded down, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said. The woman was found along the Cispus River and carried out, as she had fallen down and injured her head, ribs and ankles. Brown said. She was taken to a hospital near her home to be treated for dehydration, according to Brown.

MAN ARRESTED FOR POINTING GUN

• A 40-year-old Lacey man who allegedly pointed a pistol at another male during an argument inside a vehicle yesterday morning in Centralia was arrested for first-degree assault. Officers responding about 10 a.m. to the 700 block of East Third Street took Thelonious C. Morrison into custody and booked him into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department. Sgt. Stacy Denham said the victim, who is in his 20s, reached for something prompting Morrison to pull out his weapon. The pair – who Denham characterized as friends – were in the backseat together. The driver slammed on his brakes and the victim jumped out, he said. Morrison was also booked for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to police.

BURGLARY THROUGH OPEN WINDOW

• Centralia police responded just before 7 a.m. today to a home burglary in which someone entered through an open window during the approximately 15 minutes while the resident was out. It happened on the 1400 block of Lum Road, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BARN THEFTS

• An estimated nearly $1,300 of items were stolen from a barn yard on the 1300 block of Wildwood Road in Curtis sometime between Friday and Saturday morning, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Among the missing are an oil cooler and air conditioner to a farm tractor, according to the sheriff’s office.

• A wood stove and a metal tire rack were stolen from a barn on the 500 block of Telegraph Road west of Toledo. A deputy called on Friday night was told the property was in foreclosure and the items had been taken sometime during the previous week, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

CAR PROWL

• Police were called to the 1400 block of Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis about 8:15 p.m. on Saturday after an individual came out of a convenience store and found their iPhone missing from their vehicle. The door had been locked but a rear hatch was not, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

SEX CRIME

• Centralia police were contacted yesterday by a female who reported a rape by a male she knows. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

POLICE DOG TRACK

• A deputy and a K-9 responding about 8:30 p.m. yesterday to a reported vehicle accident at the 1000 block of Shorey Road west of Chehalis found little damage to the vehicle but tracked down its alleged driver hiding in blackberry bushes about two blocks away, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Terry M. Munsell, 39, of Rochester, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

POLICE PURSUIT

• A police pursuit from Pacific County down state Route 6 ended near Interstate 5 in Chehalis after police set out “spike strips” and deflated at least one tire on a vehicle late Friday night. Chehalis Police Department Deputy Chief Randy Kaut said the initial call was about a suicidal person, but he didn’t have all the details. The driver was taken into custody, Kaut said.

FEMALES HIT BY CAR

• Centralia police cited a motorist for failing to yield for a pedestrian in a crosswalk after two women were struck at the intersection of Main Street and Tower Avenue in Centralia last night. It happened about 8:10 p.m. Riverside Fire Authority said both patients were taken to Providence Centralia Hospital for evaluation. Police said the injuries to the women, ages 59 and 66, were minor.

WRECK

• A 23-year-old Centralia man was taken to the hospital and then booked into jail after a single-vehicle collision just before 4 p.m. on Saturday at the 800 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis. The driver was found unconscious with a syringe in his hand after running into a fence and then the ditch, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Michael A. Hammett said he had been taking Oxycontin or morphine, but a white powder that field tested positive for amphetamines was found in his vehicle, Deputy Chief Randy Kaut said. He was arrested for a violation of the uniform controlled substances act, according to police.

PIZZA PLACE OVERLOAD

• K-Mart in Chehalis was evacuated yesterday evening when the fire department was called about an apparent electrical fire in the Little Caesars Pizza portion of the building. Crews responding about 6:45 p.m. to the business on Northwest Louisiana Avenue found a short had snapped a circuit breaker and cased a spark, just like it did about two weeks ago, according to the Chehalis Fire Department. The pizza kitchen was told it must remain closed until it gets the issue inspected, Firefighter Steve Emrich said.

ANIMAL ATTACK

• Morton police reported this morning two dogs were locked up after allegedly killing a cat in its own backyard on the 100 block of Division Avenue last week. An officer was called on Monday afternoon learned the cat owner had detained the canines. They were transported to the Lewis County Animal Shelter, according to the Morton Police Department.

THE PARTY’S OVER

• Two people were hospitalized with possible alcohol poisoning, a handful of under age individuals contacted for drinking and a bon fire extinguished after a large party in the woods was broken up on Saturday night northwest of Centralia. Deputies arriving about 11:30 p.m. to the area off the 300 block of Lepisto Road estimated as many as 1,000 were in attendance but several hundred people ran into the woods, according to the sheriff’s office. Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said the party was dubbed “Project W” and appeared to include mostly individuals from outside Lewis County. The organizers said they would not be returning, as the sheriff’s office ruined their fun, Brown said.

INTRUDER DISCOVERED INSIDE CENTRALIA HOME

• Centralia police were called to the 500 block of North Buckner Street yesterday when a resident found a young man inside her home. He climbed out a window to avoid her and ran south down Buckner, according to the Centralia Police Department. It happened about 11:20 a.m. when the female returned home after only being gone a couple of minutes, according to police. It’s not clear if anything was stolen. Police describe the intruder as a white male, perhaps in his mid-20s, with tattoos on both hands. He was wearing a blue shirt and black baseball hat, with a white star on its back, police say. UNHAPPY TENANT

• A 26-year-old Centralia woman was arrested for felony harassment yesterday after she allegedly threatened to kill her property manager at the 1100 block of South Pearl Street. Officers called about 4:25 p.m. booked Cassandra R. Sines into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

UNPLEASANT CUSTOMER

• A 43-year-old Kennewick man who allegedly tried to pick fights with customers at a Centralia gas station on the 1200 block of Mellen Street was arrested for disorderly conduct. Officers responding about 9:45 p.m. booked Servando G. Marquez into the Lewis County Jail,according to the Centralia Police Department. He was also wanted on two outstanding warrants, according to police.

UNCONSCIOUS SHOPPER

• Police responding to a report about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday about a male passed out in the bathroom of a grocery store in Centralia ended up arresting Bo D. Rupert, 19, of Auburn, for minor in possession or consumption of alcohol. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MISSING AUTOMOBILE

• A gray 2000 Nissan Sentra was reported stolen from the 800 block of Centralia College Boulevard in Centralia on Thursday afternoon. The car has custom wheels, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MISSING QUADS

• Police were called to the 800 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia on Thursday to take a report regarding two ATVs which were stolen.

MISSING MEDS

• Prescription medication was stolen in a car prowl on the 100 block of South Diamond Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police on Thursday.

VANDALISM

• Police took a report yesterday morning of two tires on a vehicle getting slashed overnight at the 800 block of West Pear Street in Centralia.
