KNIVES AND NOT KNIVES

• Chehalis police were called just before 8 p.m. on Saturday when an individual witnessed a fight and possible stabbing at the 400 block of Northeast Washington Avenue. An arriving officer checked the area for blood and found none; spoke to the suspected victim and was told he was not stabbed, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Nobody was arrested, according to police.

• Chehalis police called to the 100 block of Southwest Sixth Street at 3:30 p.m. on Friday for what appeared to be a man with a knife chasing a female ended up arresting the man for possession of methamphetamine. An officer spoke with both of them and Adrian J. Gillespie, 43, was cited for prohibited conduct – a violation of the city municipal code – and a search incident to that arrest turned up a pipe that tested positive for drugs, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Gillespie was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

MORE DRUGS

• A 43-year-old Mineral resident contends the small baggie of methamphetamine that fell from his pants when he stood up at the conclusion of the booking process at the jail overnight was not his, but images on security video and a field test led to his arrest. David E. Hall was stopped by a deputy last night in Mineral and arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree driving with a suspended license, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was subsequently arrested for possession of meth, according to the sheriff’s office.

• White powder in the wallet of an arrestee that tested positive for meth led to a second arrest of a 23-year-old Chehalis man on Saturday following a traffic stop on North Fork Road. A deputy called about 12:15 p.m. for a trespassing complaint at the 100 block of Literal Road encountered a vehicle which contained Brian M. Hull and arrested him for allegedly earlier cutting phone lines during an argument with his mother and threatening to puncture all four of her tires, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Hull was arrested for third-degree malicious mischief and then possession of methamphetamine, and booked into the Lewis County Jail, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning. Prosecutors had only enough information to charged him with the drug crime, Lewis County Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Brad Meagher told a judge this afternoon. Hull ‘s bail was set at $10,000.

• A 44-year-old Centralia woman was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail on Friday for allegedly selling methamphetamine twice to confidential informants in Lewis County last September. Jodi R. Greenwood has no felony convictions in her past and has lived at the same address for the last 15 years, a judge was told this afternoon in Lewis County Superior Court during a bail hearing. Charges were filed for two counts of delivery of meth on Dec. 9 and an arrest warrant issued for Greenwood. Her bail was set at $10,000.

VEHICLE THEFT

• A 59-year-old man from Roy called the sheriff’s office yesterday following the discovery his pickup truck was missing from a field in Curtis where he had left it on Friday evening. The Chevrolet Silvarado was taken from the 300 block of Beaver Creek Road, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It had a black cab guard, an aluminum tool box and a black and white “dog box,” according to the sheriff’s office. Its license plate reads B69566S.

FRAUD

• Chehalis police were called on Saturday by an individual who was advised by his bank that someone used his bank card at Wal-Mart in Chehalis, attempting a series of four transactions each in the amount of $404.94. Not all the transactions were completed, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The victim lives in another part of the state, police said.

• Morton police reported today they are investigating a report of bank information getting stolen and being used to pay for satellite television services. The complaint was taken last week, according to the Morton Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Centralia police responded to an approximate 5:25 a.m. report of a vehicle prowl today at the 1700 block of West Mellen Street. Someone had rifled through the unlocked vehicle but nothing appeared to be missing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Camping equipment was stolen from a vehicle at the 1200 block of West Pear Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 7:10 p.m. yesterday.

POLICE: MOTORIST GAVE FALSE NAME

• Prosecutors filed a charge today of first-degree criminal impersonation against a 37-year-old Morton man, contending he pretended he was his brother when he got traffic ticket on Feb. 5 in the Morton area. During last week’s warrant sweep when law enforcement went looking for the brother, they learned he lived in another state, but that David W. Willis Jr. 37, had recently been arrested at that address and was currently in the Lewis County Jail, according to charging documents. An officer looked at a booking photo and concluded Willis was the person he stopped. Willis denied any memory of the traffic stop.

ALLEGED SEX OFFENSE

• Carlos D. Linares, 21, was arrested on Friday at the Chehalis Police Department, following an interview, for first-degree child molestation in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred about six months ago, according to the Chehalis Police Department. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police. The felony charge is not being filed by prosecutors pending further investigation.

GREEN HILL ASSAULT

• An 18-year-old former student-inmate of Green Hill School in Chehalis was brought before a judge this afternoon in Lewis County Superior Court to face two charges of custodial assault for an incident that allegedly occurred on March 13. Devin A. Martin allegedly punched a staff member twice and hit a second staff member in the face after the inmates were told recreation time was over and to line up, according to charging documents. Martin was housed at Green Hill School after an adult conviction while he was a juvenile for first-degree robbery in King County. His arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD FOLLOW UP

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is forwarding a case involving a wreck early yesterday morning outside of Chehalis for a charge of driving under the influence. Firefighters and deputies responding about 1:15 a.m. on Saturday to the 300 block of Highway 603 found a vehicle had collided with a utility pole and injured its driver. Jennifer L. Ternan, 44, of Chehalis, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital where she was admitted, according to the sheriff’s office. A search warrant was issued to obtain some of her blood, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning. Brown said she didn’t know the extent of Ternan’s injuries, but said she was not booked into jail. The utility pole was destroyed, Brown said, but didn’t indicate the extent of damage to Ternan’s vehicle.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Centralia police were called about 12:25 a.m. today when a resident looked outside and saw two persons with flashlights inside their parked car. The resident yelled at the suspects who fled on foot from the 1000 block of West Walnut Street, according to the Centralia Police Department. Nothing was taken from the car, according to police.

• Police were called just before 10 a.m. on Friday about a vehicle prowl at the 500 block of North Buckner Street in Centralia. A radar detector was stolen during the night, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police on Friday took a report of an overnight vehicle prowl at the 100 block of South Gold Street.

DRUGS

• A 37-year-old motorist stopped for a traffic violation on the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia just after 9 p.m. on Friday was subsequently arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Guy A McAllister, from Chehalis, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Firefighters were called about 1:15 a.m. yesterday to a single-vehicle collision into a utility pole on Highway 603 near Tune Road. They initiated patient care, according to Lewis County Fire District 6.

• Four felony warrants and 17 misdemeanor warrants were served yesterday during a joint effort by local law enforcement agencies they called “spring cleaning.” They started at 7:30 a.m. and continued until midnight with locating and arresting individuals in the Lewis County area, according to the sheriff’s office. Working the collaborative emphasis were officers with the Centralia Police Department, the Washington State Patrol, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the state Department of Corrections. Sheriff Rob Snaza called it a great team effort.

BIKE SWIPED

• An officer was called to the 1100 block of Caveness Drive in Centralia yesterday afternoon to take a report of the theft of a silver and black Trek 430 mountain bike from a building, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BACKPACK, PURSE STOLEN

• Centralia police were called at 9:35 a.m. yesterday about the  theft of a backpack and purse containing debit cards from the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue. The investigation is ongoing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MISSING MEDS

• Police took a report yesterday of medication stolen from the 100 block of Virginia Drive in Centralia.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Chehalis police were called about 8’clock yesterday morning regarding a car prowl on the 600 block of Southwest William Avenue.

‘NOT MY DRUGS’

• An officer responded yesterday to an approximately 11 a.m. call to W.F. West High School about a student who allegedly had a small pill bottle of suspected marijuana in her locker. School staff had retrieved the green vegetable material when they searched lockers and the 15-year-old girl said it did not belong to her, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The case was referred to juvenile prosecutors for charging, according to police.

PEEKABOO, I SEE YOU

• Three people ended up getting arrested after law enforcement went to a residence on the 700 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue in Chehalis about 11 p.m. yesterday looking for 28-year-old Braden K. Burnett who was wanted for a misdemeanor warrant. A deputy was told through a closed window that Burnett wasn’t there, but another deputy saw Burnett  through a back window, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. So deputies got a search warrant, went inside and took Burnett into custody, also for obstructing. Samantha E. Taylor, 20, from Chehalis, also had an outstanding warrant. Scott J. Johnson, 18, of Centralia, didn’t have a warrant, but was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and his case was referred to prosecutors for possible additional charges of rendering criminal assistance, obstructing and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office. All were booked into the Lewis County Jail.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• Troopers and firefighters responded about 9:30 a.m. today to a collision in the southbound lanes on Interstate 5 just north of Centralia, where they found a small passenger car with significant rear end damage and a semi truck with damage to its front end. All occupants were evaluated at the scene near milepost 85 and none were injured, according to Riverside Fire Authority.

• Three people were hurt when a woman driving a Jeep Cherokee pulled onto U.S. Highway 12 just west of Mossyrock yesterday and was struck by a Honda Civic already traveling on the highway. Troopers called about 12:15 p.m. determined Patricia J. Manville, 72, of Mossyrock, had been heading north on Birley Road and entered the highway but failed to yield, according to the Washington State Patrol. She was taken to Morton General Hospital, according to the state patrol. Both vehicles were described as totaled. The driver of the westbound Honda, Jack G. Cain, from Longview, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. His 22-year-old passenger was injured but not hospitalized, according to the patrol.

HIDING HANDBAG IN POLICE DEPARTMENT LOBBY LEADS TO ARREST

• A 20-year-old Oakville resident who stashed her purse in a storage cabinet inside the lobby of the Chehalis Police Department while she went to municipal court on the ground floor of the same building yesterday was subsequently arrested for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. An officer retrieved the handbag and made contact with Natasha T. Henderson when she came back to get it, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Inside, the officer found needles and a spoon with brown residue that field-tested positive for heroin, department spokesperson Linda Bailey said. Henderson  was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

BREAK-IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called about 1:40 a.m. today for a burglary to a residence on the 500 block of East Main Street. Taken was a television, clothes and other personal items, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VEHICLE THEFT FROM THE WOODS

• A deputy was contacted yesterday by a timber cruiser whose 1995 Honda CR250R dirt bike was stolen from the Forest Service Road 2513 near Randle. The 27-year-old man from Cottage Grove said it disappeared sometime since 4 p.m. on Friday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The loss is estimated at $1,500.

LICENSE PLATE VANISHES

• A license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the street yesterday morning at the 1300 block of Central Boulevard in Centralia. Police had no suspect information as of this morning, according to the Centralia Police Department.

RUNAWAY LOCATED

• A 14-year-old runaway reported missing about two weeks ago tried to flee from officers about 4:30 p.m. yesterday from a residence on the 800 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia. He also had a warrant for his arrest, according to the Centralia Police Department. He was caught and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center, according to police.

SOCIABLE RETRIEVER DETAINED BY POLICE

• Chehalis police were called about 9:45 p.m. yesterday after a woman opened her door to let her dog in and a strange dog walked into the house with it. An officer responding to the call at the 100 block of Southeast Washington Avenue was told the woman tied the friendly canine to a bush in the yard and planned to let the animal control officer pick it up this morning, but was called shortly after 2 a.m. for a complaint about a barking dog, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The golden retriever, which had no tags or license but was “of good temperament” was then taken to the city’s kennel, according to police.

• Centralia police responded about 4:36 p.m. yesterday to a two-vehicle injury wreck at the 900 block of South Tower Avenue. The victim vehicle was redirected by the collision and struck a house, causing damage to the home, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police responded about 2:36 p.m. yesterday for a vehicle versus pedestrian low-speed collision at Yew and Mellen streets in Centralia. The victim was transported for possible injury, according to the Centralia Police Department.

SEARCH FOR WOMAN HIKER SUCCESSFUL

• A 21-year-old Pierce County woman who never returned from a day hike on Sunday outside of Ashford was located safe by deputies. Her family went looking for her on Monday and her car was found along the Forest Road 84 where the snow starts, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. She was found walking out about nine miles up the road on Monday, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said. “Basically she just overextended herself,” Brown said.

MISSING JEWELRY

• Centralia police were called at noon yesterday to the 2300 block of Scheuber Ridge Court regarding the theft of a wedding ring.

MAN BOOKED FOR CHURCH BREAK-IN

• Joshua A. Schwenning, 28, from Lacey, was arrested yesterday for second-degree burglary in connection with incidents on Feb. 11 when someone kicked in the door to a church on Bishop Road, stole laptop computers and someone subsequently broke into the Housing Mart on Hamilton Road, where they ate food and drank alcohol and left some of the laptops there, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Through tips and investigation a deputy concluded he was involved and yesterday met up with him at his probation office in Olympia, according to the sheriff’s office. Schwenning was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• Firefighters were called just before 8 p.m. yesterday to a rollover crash at the 16800 block of Old Highway 99 west of Tenino. Two patients – the driver and a child – were transported to the hospital by medics, according to Thurston County Fire District 12.

• A 29-year-old motorist was injured yesterday after he lost control of his car after passing a truck on the right-hand shoulder of Interstate 5 near Winlock. The Washington State Patrol reports Ngoc H. Nguyen, from Lacey, clipped the International flatbed truck when trying to re-enter the right lane, causing his Honda Accord to spin around, cross both lanes and strike the inside concrete barrier. Troopers called about 2:20 p.m. to the scene near milepost 64 planned to issue a citation for negligent driving. Nguyen was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. The 25-year-old Centralia man driving the flatbed was uninjured.

FRAUD

• An individual called Chehalis police yesterday evening to report the discovery that someone made purchases on his credit card at Wal-Mart earlier in the day, even though he had his card. Further details were not yet available, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

MISSING JEWELRY

• Centralia police were called about 4:35 p.m. on Saturday to the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue regarding the theft of jewelry, according to the Centralia Police Department.

OTHER THEFT

• A 22-year-old Morton resident was arrested for second-degree theft and forgery on Saturday after allegedly forging a signature on a check belonging to his roommate. Michael J. Barnett was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Zachary T. Moreno, 20, of Centralia, was arrested for second-degree theft and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant on Friday morning after Centralia police were called about 9:45 a.m. to the 400 block of South Street. Moreno was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Centralia police were called about 6:15 a.m. today regarding a theft from a vehicle parked at the 500 block of South Tower Avenue.

• Police responded to a call just before 2 o’clock this morning for a vehicle prowl at the 700 block of Marsh Avenue in Centralia. A jacket was stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Someone got into a vehicle parked at the 600 block of West Pine Street and stole some change, according to a report made to Centralia police about 11:45 p.m. yesterday.

• Chehalis police were called about 10:30 a.m. yesterday to a car prowl at K-Mart on the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The only items missing were the registration and an insurance card, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Centralia police were called about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday about a car prowl at the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia. A backpack was missing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 28-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for second-degree vehicle prowl on Saturday morning after a traffic stop during which an officer noted broken glass on his clothes. Police contacted David J. Eslick at the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia just before 6 a.m., saw the glass and allegedly subsequently found him in possession of a stereo stolen from a vehicle at the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road, according to the Centralia Police Department. Eslick reportedly told the officer where it came from. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail also for third-degree driving with suspended license, according to police.

STREET FIGHT

• Centralia police were called about 3:15 p.m. on Friday for a report of a group of juveniles who jumped another juvenile at Yew Street and Centralia College Boulevard. No arrests were immediately made, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

• Centralia police arrested a 48-year-old Centralia resident for two counts of second-degree robbery domestic violence after being called just after 2 p.m. on Friday to the 700 block of M Street. Booked into the Lewis County Jail was Michael S. Hansen, according to the Centralia Police Department. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charge.

• A 33-year-old Napavine man was arrested for driving under the influence after his 1994 Ford Mustang struck a fence at the 500 block of Park Road at about 9:15 p.m. on Saturday. Tyler L. Sanow was reportedly uninjured but his car sustained major damage, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail , according to the sheriff’s office.

• A 49-year-old Puyallup man suffered facial lacerations when he wrecked his 2014 Harley Davidson on Cline Road in Randle. He hit some gravel and lost control, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He had been wearing a helmet and was transported to Morton General Hospital for treatment, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said this morning.

HOUSE FIRE WINLOCK

• A house fire yesterday morning in Winlock remains under investigation, according to Lewis County Fire District 15. Crews called just before 5:30 a.m. to the 900 block of Southeast First Street reported heavy fire and conducted a defensive attack, according to Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Anderson. They protected an adjacent home from catching fire, but it sustained some damage from the heat, according to Anderson. There were no injuries reported. A crew was on scene until just before noon dealing with hot spots.
