SHORT TERM VEHICLE THEFT

• Chehalis police were called at 11:59 p.m. yesterday to take a report that a red Toyota pickup truck had just been been stolen from the 400 block of Southwest 18th Street. A few minutes later another caller to 911 reported a red Toyota hit a utility pole at North Market Boulevard and Boistfort Street, and an officer subsequently made a traffic stop on the suspected stolen vehicle at the 700 block of South Market Boulevard, according to the Chehalis Police Department. It turned out to not be the missing truck, according to police. Shortly after 4:15 a.m., Chehalis police got word that a deputy had located the missing truck near state Route 6 and Scheuber Road, according to police.

GUN CRIMES

• Centralia police say two children shot several windows out of vehicles parked in the area of the 600 block of West Main Street with a pellet gun yesterday. Officers responding about 2:45 p.m. did not take the boys, ages 13 and 9, into custody, but are referring a case to prosecutors for second-degree malicious mischief, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Deputies were called yesterday to take a report of a firearm stolen from the 200 block of Bellicum Road near Morton. The $2,600 gun and some tools were taken from beneath a collapsed outbuilding sometime since January, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Missing is a nickel-plated .45 caliber Colt Combat Commander 1911, according to the sheriff’s office.

GARAGE CRIME

• Chehalis police were called to the 100 block of Southwest Fourth Street about 11:15 a.m. yesterday following the discovery a garage had been burglarized. Missing was a red and black 4000-watt Generac generator, two five-gallon plastic gas cans and a toolbox containing heavy duty Craftsman sockets, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The loss is estimated at $1,130, according to police.

PETTY THEFT

• Centralia police were called just before 10 o’clock yesterday morning about the front tire being stolen from a child’s bicycle at the 300 block of N Street.

DRUGS

• Two people were arrested about 4:15 a.m. today at the 1400 block of Alexander Street in Centralia. Jessica R. Gladue, 38, of Centralia, was arrested and booked for several outstanding warrants as well as possession of heroin and methamphetamine, according to the Centralia Police Department. James L. Allen, 50, of Winlock, was also arrested for providing false information to a public servant, according to police.

• Chehalis police were called about 1:25 p.m. yesterday to a store at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue where some suspected methamphetamine had been found. It was turned over for destruction, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

ATTEMPT TO ELUDE

• A 37-year-old Chehalis man was arrested after a long pursuit that reached speeds upwards of 110 mph last night through rural Chehalis. It began 10:35 p.m. when a deputy spotted a vehicle traveling 18 mph over the speed limit in the area of Forest-Napavine Road and Jackson Highway, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. As the deputy turned, the vehicle abruptly took off, skidding around a corner and driving down the center of the roadway, according to the sheriff’s office. The chase led up to near Kirkland Road, to the end of North Fork Road and then up a logging road, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said. The vehicle then traveled in reverse down a second road and eventually stopped when it struck the front of a deputy’s vehicle, Breen said. Andrew T. Bradley was taken into custody and booked into the Lewis County Jail for attempting to elude and for second-degree assault, according to Breen. The damage to the patrol car was slight, Breen said.

AUTO THEFT

• Chehalis police were called just after 7 a.m. today about the theft of a Honda Accord from the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street. The car went missing sometime after 2 a.m., according to the Chehalis Police Department. Officers located the vehicle in the area missing all four of its wheels and tires, according to police.

TEEN TAKES WALLET, FAILS AT ATM

• A 17-year-old boy seen trying to get cash from an ATM yesterday at a business on the 100 block of Foster Creek Road, with several bank cards and receipts in his hand, allegedly admitted he’d stolen a wallet when he got a ride to the area from a Winlock man. The Longview teen spoke to a deputy just after 1 p.m. at the business and handed over the wallet, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested for six counts of second-degree theft and booked at the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said today.

BURGLARY CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called about 3:10 p.m. yesterday for a second-degree burglary at the 1400 block of Mellen Street. “Items” had been stolen during the night, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MISSING MUSICAL INSTRUMENT

• A business on the 100 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia reported the theft of a musical instrument yesterday afternoon. A summons was issued for the person who leased the viola, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Centralia police were called about 11:50 a.m. yesterday to a business at the 800 block of B Street where someone had cut through a fence and then unbolted and stole a 48-inch LED off-road light bar from a vehicle.

• Centralia police were called about 10:20 a.m. yesterday about a vehicle prowl at the 500 block of Hemlock Street in which a flashlight was taken. It happened last Thursday night, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called to an apartment on North National Avenue about 6:30 p.m. yesterday to take a report of the theft of a metal bowl out of a bathroom.

BURGLARY CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called about 10:40 p.m. on Saturday about a break-in to a business on the 500 block of West Main Street. A yellow Huffy bicycle and tools were stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Kimberly R. Terrell, 40, of Georgia, was arrested about 9:35 a.m. yesterday for second-degree possession of stolen property, third-degree malicious mischief and trespassing, according to the Centralia Police Department. A yellow bicycle that had been stolen the night before was recovered. Terrell was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charge today.

AUTO THEFT

A 30-year-old Tacoma man was arrested in connection with a stolen car found fully engulfed in flames on Saturday afternoon approximately three miles up Forest Service Road 73 near Morton. Deputies responding about 3:25 p.m. to the silver 1997 Honda Accord partially over an embankment spoke to an individual who said they’d spoken to a young man inside the (not-yet-burned) car asking for help to get it pulled out, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Joshua L. Gunderson, 30, from Tacoma, was contacted walking away from the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. The car had been stolen out of Tacoma, Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey said. Gunderson was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, Kimsey said. Felony charges are not being filed pending further investigation.

• A vehicle reported stolen from Portland on July 1 was found on Saturday in Centralia at the 900 block of South Silver Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.

OTHER THEFT

• Centralia police took a report about 6:30 p.m. yesterday from the 1200 block of North Washington Avenue of the theft of medication.

• Morton police are investigating at least one complaint of a theft from a campsite, reported yesterday morning at the 700 block of Main Street.

• Centralia police were contacted about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday to take a report of the theft of a child’s car seat. The victim said it had been left in an acquaintance’s vehicle, in the case associated with an address on the 400 block of Brock Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Several pieces of mail were turned in to the Chehalis Police Department on Saturday which had been found discarded by someone’s house in Thurston County.

• Morton police took a report last Wednesday night from the 200 block of Second Street of six checks stolen totaling $1,150. The investigation is ongoing, according to the Morton Police Department.

VEHICLE PROWL

• In a case associated with the 500 block of Yew Street in Centralia early yesterday morning, vehicle registration paperwork was stolen from a vehicle. Officers located and returned the paperwork to the owner, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An officer was called just before 3 p.m. yesterday about a 48-inch LED off-road light bar stolen during the night from the 300 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia.

• Centralia police took a report just before 9 a.m. yesterday of a 54-inch LED off-road light bar stolen overnight from the 400 block of South Iron Street.

• Chehalis police were called about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday to take a report of tools taken out of a truck parked at the dealership on Northwest State Avenue.

• Chehalis police were called just before 10 a.m. on Saturday to the 200 block of Southwest Second Street regarding a chainsaw and a weed trimmer stolen from the back of a pickup truck during the night. Officers were called back to the same location about 11:40 p.m. and arrested the 31-year-old owner of the truck for reckless endangerment, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Benny J. Dyer allegedly had gone to his truck, retrieved a rifle and fired off a round, according to police. He said it was accidental, Sgt. Gwen Carrell said. Dyer was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

DRUGS

• A 39-year-old Centralia resident arrested on an outstanding warrant last night was also arrested for possession of meth when a search turned up a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement had been searching for a runaway juvenile when they contacted Lance J. Myhre walking into a convenience store at the 400 block of West Main Street in Centralia, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• A 20-year-old Rochester man arrested with another subject for alleged shoplifting at Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis on Friday night was subsequently also arrested for possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Chase A. Deguise was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• The Morton Police Department reported today that a boy on a bicycle was hit was a passing unloaded log truck in the area of Third Street and Main Avenue at about 2 p.m. on June 28. The boy had reportedly rode across a street without looking and did not have any injuries, but was transported to the hospital as a precaution, according to police.
