DRUGS AND FAKE DRUGS

• A Centralia woman who allegedly tried to pass off salt as methamphetamine called police just after 5 a.m. yesterday when her unsatisfied customers returned and were kicking at her door threatening to assault her. “They were upset,” Centralia Police Department Sgt. Stacy Denham said. Officers arriving to the 1400 block of Johnson Road ended up arresting the woman, 31-year-old Melisa F. Akers. Officers discovered three teenage boys at the home who had consumed marijuana and arrested Akers for delivery of marijuana to minors, according to police. Akers, who is five months pregnant, was booked into the Lewis County Jail but released over the weekend because she had to be hospitalized for complications. She was charged today in Lewis County Superior Court with that crime, as well as possession of methamphetamine and also delivery of a counterfeit controlled substance. Sgt. Denham said whether the man and woman who purchased salt and allegedly threatened the woman might be in trouble wasn’t yet decided. “They didn’t want to talk much,” he said. • A search warrant on Friday afternoon at the 100 block of Southwest Seventh Street in Chehalis led to the arrest of Laura E. Raymor, 54, of Chehalis, for possession of methamphetamine, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

HOUSE FIRE AVERTED NEAR WINLOCK

• A neighbor and a passerby used a fire extinguisher and a garden hose to put out a fire discovered on the back deck of a Winlock-area home this morning. Lewis County Fire District 15 called about 10:15 a.m. to the 100 block of Wirta Road discovered a heat lamp caused a pet house to ignite, Assistant Chief Kevin Anderson said. No one was home when it happened, according to Anderson. The siding of the home was scorched and all the pets – four cats and several dogs – were accounted for, Anderson said.

TOLEDO MOBILE HOME GOES UP IN SMOKE

• Toledo area firefighters responded about 4:15 p.m. on Saturday to a call about a burning double wide mobile home on the Fulton Road. When the fire department arrived, the roughly 30-year-old unoccupied mobile was probably 75 percent consumed and there was just  small flame left, according to Lewis County Fire District 2. Fire Chief Grant Wiltbank said a nearby pile of burning rubbish apparently ignited the structure. A man had been gutting and salvaging metal from it in preparation for his mother’s property sale and said he left for a time and when he returned, he heard the fire engine sirens, according to Wiltbank.

FATHER BOOKED FOR ALLEGED ASSAULT OF SON

• A 36-year-old man Glenoma man was arrested on Friday for allegedly choking his teenage son until he blacked out. Jason L. Bolinske, who was contacted about the Wednesday incident, admitted there was a fight but denied putting his hands around his son’s neck, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Bolinske was booked into the Lewis County Jail on for second-degree assault, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown.

VEHICLE THEFT

• A deputy was called just before 6 a.m. yesterday about a stolen $8,000 snow machine from the Mount Tahoma Snow Park in Ashford. A representative of the owner – Mount Tahoma Trail Association – said two males were seen driving it away according to the Lewis County Sheriff’ Office. The machine, actually a snow mobile, was subsequently found down an approximately 250 foot ravine, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

• A white 1990 Honda CRX was reported stolen from the 2100 block of Earl Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 7:50 p.m. on Saturday. The car has a license plate of 695 ZUN, according to the Centralia Police Department.

FRAUD

• Chehalis police arrested a 56-year-old Chehalis woman on Friday afternoon for identity theft in connection with a location on the 400 block of Northeast Washington Avenue. Darlina A. Fox was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree theft and second-degree identity theft, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Police responded on Friday afternoon to a complaint by a Chehalis woman about identity theft. The 53-year-old woman said she suspected someone had used her social security number because she was contacted by the state Department of Employment Security about being overpaid for unemployment benefits. The woman said it was related to places she had never worked, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were called about 12:45 a.m. on Sunday to the 400 block of North Market Boulevard regarding someone breaking seven different wall-mounted mailboxes.

CAR PROWL

• Someone broke into a vehicle at the 1000 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia and made off with an Alpine stereo and assorted hand tools, according to a report made to police yesterday morning.

• Police were called to the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia just after 9 a.m. yesterday where someone had cut the soft top of a Jeep. Nothing appeared to be missing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A pack of cigarettes were stolen in a vehicle prowl on the 400 block of South Buckner Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police just after 7 a.m. yesterday.

OOPS

• Police were called about 3:20 p.m. on Friday to the 600 block of North National Avenue in Chehalis regarding a vehicle running into the glass front door of a Chinese restaurant. Further details were not readily available.

• A 1994 Toyota Tercel was totaled when it was struck in a hit and run accident on the 500 block of Tucker Road near Toledo about 11:30 a.m. on Friday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said today the red van that left the scene will have significant front end damage.

TREE FALLING ACCIDENT INJURES ONE

• A local man was airlifted after a logging accident today when a tree fell and he was trapped beneath its limbs. Aid called just after 9:30 a.m. to Avery Road East in the Marys Corner area found that bystanders had cut away some of the limbs so they could get to him, according to Lewis County Fire District 5. The victim, whose identity wasn’t available, was taken to the Chehalis-Centralia Airport and flown to the trauma center at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to Lt. Laura Hanson.

TEEN ACCUSED OF SELLING WEED AT SCHOOL

• Police were summoned to Centralia Middle School yesterday morning where a 14-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly selling marijuana. The student apparently had found and taken what belonged to a relative in his home, brought it to school and sold $10 worth, Sgt. Carl Buster said. He was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR STOLEN, RECOVERED

• Centralia police were called yesterday morning about a maroon 1989 Mazda MX6 which vanished during the night from the 1800 block of Juneman Street. A few hours later, the car was discovered parked in the driveway of a vacant rental home a few block away, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Centralia police were called to the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road about 7:30 a.m. today where someone broke into a vehicle during the night and stole a Samsung Galaxy cell phone and charger.

VANDALISM

• Police were called just after midnight to the 1200 block of Mellen Street in Centralia where someone slashed two tires on a parked car. A person of interest has been identified,  according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called just before 8 a.m. today to the 3000 block of Borst Avenue in Centralia where and unknown subject broke the rear window out of a truck’s canopy.

CHEHALIS CHAMBER COMMERCE BRIDGE CLOSED TONIGHT

• Chamber of Commerce Way in Chehalis will be closed to through traffic for a few hours overnight while crews take measurements to replace a piece of the bridge. The bill for an estimated $700,000 will be going to the Chehalis company whose too-tall load on a log truck hit the overpass in early September, according to state Department of Transportation. Two vehicles, including a pilot car, were damaged by falling debris on Sept. 7. DOT says Northwest Log Marketing Inc. is liable for the cost of repairs. DOT expects to replace the bridge girder later this summer. Northbound Interstate 5 beneath the bridge will be shut down between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. tomorrow while the surveying is done, according to DOT. I-5 drivers will use the on- and off-ramps to detour around the closure.

ROOMMATES’ SPAT TURNS VIOLENT

• A 59-year-old Morton woman is jailed after allegedly hitting her roommate in the head with a hammer during an argument yesterday. A deputy called abut 6 p.m. to the emergency room at Morton General Hospital spoke to the 52-year-old man who said she kicked him in the chest and also sprayed him in the face with an aerosol can of something from their kitchen, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The victim was released after being treated for minor cuts and bruises and a puncture wound on the back of his head, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said. Diana S. Stephens was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, according to Brown.

MYSTERY ASSAULT IN CHEHALIS

• Chehalis police were called about 11:50 p.m. yesterday to North Market Boulevard where an intoxicated man was injured. At first he said he was struck by a car but then he said he was jumped in the alley by three “gang bangers”, according to police. The 41-year-old man with identification that said he lived in Montana had a laceration on the bridge of his nose, according to the Chehalis Police Department. No assault suspects were located, according to police. The same individual had been asked about 20 minutes earlier to leave a downtown bar, according to police. His brother came and took the man home, police said.

BEDROOM BREAK-IN

• A 63-year-old woman called 911 last night after the discovery someone burglarized her home on the 600 block of Oakland Avenue in Centralia. Sometime since Dec. 16, someone broke a window and stole more than $1,000 worth of jewelry from her bedroom, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

POLICE: BORROWED TV SOLD

• Centralia police are investigating a complaint from an woman who said she loaned their television to a friend who then pawned it. The situation was reported yesterday from the 1100 block of South Tower Avenue.

FRAUD

• Police were called by an individual at the 500 block of Ash Street in Centralia yesterday regarding the theft of money from his bank account.

• Centralia police responded to a complaint from the 3000 block of Borst Avenue yesterday afternoon of attempted fraud. A 21-year-old woman said she was contacted by her credit card company regarding someone trying to apply for credit in her name six times in the previous two weeks, according to the Centralia Police Department.

TRUCK VERUS COW

• A 60-year-old driver’s truck sustained major damage to its front end and engine when he struck a cow on the 200 block of Elk Creek Road west of Chehalis early yesterday morning. A deputy responding about 4 a.m. to the Doty area learned the Vader man saw a black cow on the shoulder and moved toward the center of the road where he struck a second black cow, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The animal had to be put down, according to the sheriff’ office. Its owner was informed a citation for animal at large would be forthcoming, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

VIOLENCE IN CENTRALIA

• Deputies were called to Centralia High School yesterday afternoon to arrest a 15-year-old boy who allegedly produced a knife and threatened to kill a 16-year-old boy during an altercation about a girlfriend. No injuries were reported and the teen was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention for first-degree assault, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• A 23-year-old man was arrested for second-degree assault after allegedly threatening to strike an acquaintance with a baton yesterday. The approximately 4 p.m. incident connected with an address on Logan and Marion streets in Centralia ended with Brett A. Warness, a Centralia resident, getting booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DOG TRACKS MAN WITH WARRANT

• Centralia police dispatched police dog Kayo late yesterday afternoon after a traffic stop in which the driver fled on foot in the area of the 100 block of West High Street. Kayo captured John L. Lybbert, 42, of Centralia, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

SUSPECTED SCAM

• Chehalis police were called to a bank on the 400 block of North Market Boulevard late yesterday afternoon when a 42-year-old woman was wanting to send ransom money in response to information a relative in Mexico had been kidnapped. The bank and an arriving officer persuaded her it appeared to be an attempted fraud, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

PROWLERS

• The sheriff’s office was called about 8:45 a.m. yesterday after a caretaker of property on the 100 block of North Military Road in Winlock discovered a female hiding in a small outbuilding, who reportedly had been cutting wiring from the wall. The woman was not located but the caretaker recognized her, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect faces possible charges of second-degree burglary and malicious mischief, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown.

• Deputies responded just after 2 a.m. today to the 300 block of Blanchard Road in Centralia when a resident spotted a prowler crouched between two vehicles in his carport. The subject, described as skinny and dressed in black, jumped up and ran away to the east, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The 66-year-old resident had heard his driveway sensor “sound off” and thought it might be a deer, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Police took a report of a car prowl just after 6 o’clock this morning at the 1500 block of View Avenue in Centralia. Missing were two Carhart vests and cash, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An estimated $1,500 worth of tools were taken from a vehicle on the 1000 block of North Pearl Street, according to a report taken by Centralia police yesterday morning.

MAIL THEFT

• Centralia police took a report from the 500 block of North Rock Street about 9:30 a.m. yesterday about rent checks getting stolen from a mailbox.

NEAR MISS

• Aid and deputies responded abut 1:40 p.m. yesterday when a vehicle veered off the road in north Centralia and came to rest on the bank of the Skookumchuck River near the 2300 block of Howard Avenue. The 57-year-old driver said she suffered an unspecified medical issue when her vehicle traveled through a fence and into some trees sustaining major damage, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. She declined to go to the hospital.

THURSTON COURT ASSISTANT PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO MARIJUANA GROW

• The Olympian reports the attorney for the Thurston County Superior Court judicial assistant charged with manufacture of marijuana is investigating a possible defense regarding if the woman’s roommate who had a medical marijuana authorization was growing marijuana in the garage. Debbie Requa, 60, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday in Thurston County, according to news reporter Jeremy Pawloski.
