FAKE DRUGS

• A 28-year-old Centralia resident was arrested yesterday when law enforcement officers went looking for him and found him walking down the street in the area of Buckner Street in Centralia. Tyson J. Goodeill was arrested for allegedly twice selling heroin to a confidential informant and once his backpack was searched, police found a small baggie of a crystal substance as well as a substance that appeared to be black tar heroin, according to authorities. However, while the crystal field tested positive for meth, the other test showed the brown material was not a controlled substance, according to court documents. When asked, Goodeill told police it was burnt brown sugar, court documents state. The detective also found plastic baggies and a digital scale, suggesting Goodeill was selling the brown sugar as heroin, according to the documents. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail and today charged in Lewis County Superior Court with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, one count of possession of methamphetamine and one count of possession of a counterfeit substance. His bail was set with a $25,000 unsecured bond when he went before a judge this afternoon.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• Chehalis police were called just before 1 p.m. yesterday to the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court to take a report of the theft of medication. The victim was apparently home when it happened, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called to a home on Southwest 13th Street yesterday where a woman reported that back on Saturday, she discovered items were moved around in different rooms and her jewelry box was missing. The loss is estimated at $120, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Centralia police arrested a 21-year-old Pe Ell man for attempted vehicle prowl yesterday after an individual reportedly saw him trying the doors on a half dozen cars parked along the 600 block of North Tower Avenue. Officers responded to the approximately 1:20 p.m. call and took Jesse J. Lee into custody, according to the Centralia Police Department. Lee was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called about 5:50 p.m. yesterday to the 1000 block of Roosevelt Avenue where a vehicle window had been broken. It’s unknown when it occurred, according to the Centralia Police Department.

AND FROM MOSSYROCK

• Police reported yesterday an officer was called to the 100 block of East State Street in Mossyrock at about 12:10 a.m. last Tuesday for a report that a waitress slapped a patron there. The customer was escorted out of the establishment because he seemed to be intoxicated and was rude to others, according to the Morton Police Department. He was told not to come back, according to police.

BURGLARY RURAL CHEHALIS

• A deputy was called yesterday to the 200 block of Coulson Road south of Chehalis about the theft of a new set of truck tires and numerous tools from a shop building. It happened sometime between 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. yesterday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The loss is listed at $5,000, according to the sheriff’s office.

BREAK-IN WINLOCK

• Deputies responded about 5:45 p.m. on Friday to a burglary to a shop building at the 100 block of Rhoades Road North in Winlock in which an estimated $1,200 worth of items were stolen. It happened sometime after 4 p.m. the Saturday previous, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Missing were propane tanks, a barbecue, a John Deere riding mower and scrapped radiators, according to the sheriff’s office. Someone had cut a wire suspended between two trees used as a gate to gain access to the property and pried open two doors to the building, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.

DRUGS AND EAR PLUGS

• An incoming inmate at the Lewis County Jail was arrested last night when a strip search allegedly turned up a clear bag containing approximately two dozen round orange pills and two sets of foam ear plugs. Kristine M. Hiatt, 43, of Chehalis, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.

ASSAULT INVESTIGATION

• A 50-year-old Morton man was arrested on Friday afternoon in connection with an investigation that began when a deputy was called to Providence Centralia Hospital last week regarding an 11-year-old girl with a broken wrist. The sheriff’s office learned it had happened in mid-September when Paul S. Preston allegedly pushed the child, a family member, off of a 2-foot to 3-foot high white object at an unknown church in the Morton area, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Preston was located about 2 p.m. on Friday and booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault of a child, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charge and the case is being referred to Lewis County District Court.

• One person was taken to the hospital after a call about a confrontation between two clients in which one was reportedly unresponsive after being assaulted at the drug and alcohol treatment center on the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue in Chehalis on Friday morning. He was conscious when the officer arrived but didn’t provide a statement that would allow an arrest, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A man in his 40s traveling on a bicycle was hospitalized with a head injury after being struck by a passenger car in Centralia yesterday afternoon. Police were called about 3:15 p.m. to the scene at Harrison Avenue and Lowe Street and arrested the driver of the Ford Focus for an outstanding warrant and third-degree driving with a suspended license, according to the Centralia Police Department. Jose A. Miranda Salvador, 41, of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• A 60-year-old Centralia man was arrested yesterday evening for driving under the influence after a deputy responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident at the 400 block of Lincoln Creek Road. Witnesses said the vehicle came around a corner and spun around before landing in the ditch, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Terry L. Godsey was booked into the Lewis County Jail, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.

• Chehalis police were called to W.F. West High School on Southwest 16th Street about 10:30 p.m. on Friday following the discovery of damage to a cinder block building which looked as though possibly a truck had backed into it. The damage was estimated at about $1,500, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

COMMERCIAL KITCHEN FIRE DOUSED

• Firefighters called about 11:20 a.m. yesterday to the 300 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia found a restaurant filled with smoke and dark smoke emanating from a vent at the front of the building. The fire found burning in a kitchen grill was easily extinguished, but the crew remained on the scene for about an hour for smoke removal, according to Riverside Fire Authority. The grill at Sabra’s Place was the only thing damaged, according to the fire department. The business owner said  that she had turned on the grill to warm it up and then left momentarily, Capt. Scott Weinert said. “The Riverside Fire Authority wishes to remind everyone that heating and cooking appliances should not be left unattended to help avoid the risk of an accidental fire,” Weinert stated.

VEHICLE THEFT

• Centralia police responded just before 5 o’clock this morning to a burglary at a business on the 300 block of South Tower Avenue. Two motorcycles were stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department. One is a 2012 Suzuki GSXR 1000 and the other a White Suzuki GSXR 600, according to police.

• Police were called just before 1:20 a.m. today for a car stolen out of a driveway at the 600 block of North Washington Avenue in Centralia. Taken sometime after 11 p.m. yesterday was a black 2008 Kia Optima four-door passenger car, according to the Centralia Police Department.

OTHER THEFT

• An officer was called to a business at the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia at 6:35 p.m. yesterday about the theft of money. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MALICIOUSNESS

• Centralia police were called about 2:30 a.m. yesterday to the 1400 block of Johnson Road where a 24-year-old Centralia man allegedly broke out the windshield of a domestic acquaintance’s vehicle and fled. A criminal summons was issued to the suspect for third-degree domestic malicious mischief, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• Centralia police responded about 1:45 a.m. yesterday to a collision at Harrison Avenue and First Street where they arrested an individual for driving under the influence.  Rafael Morales Salas, 23, of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police said a 35-year-old Centralia woman was injured when she held on to her boyfriend’s truck as it drove away in the area of the 300 block of Spruce Street on Friday afternoon. She was transported to the hospital for minor injuries, according to the Centralia Police Department.
