DISPLAY CASE AND CONTENTS BURGLED IN GALVIN

• Sometime between 3 p.m. on Tuesday and 7 a.m. yesterday, someone entered a shop-storage building on corner of Galvin Road and Union Avenue outside Centralia and made off with an antique display case that contained an Olympic Club coin, a brass carburetor and a Ford sign, according to the  Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

BAM

• An individual reported to police just before 1 o’clock this morning that a man in his early 20s walked up, asked “What’s up fool?” and then punched him the face. It happened in the 1100 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia, according to police. Further details were not readily available.

ATTEMPTED CAR PROWL

• Centralia police were called about 2:35 a.m. today to the 1300 block of Oxford Avenue after a car alarm woke up a resident and damage to the driver’s side door was subsequently found. Nothing was taken, and there are no suspects, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BAD BILLS

• Centralia police were summoned to a business on the 500 block of Harrison Avenue about 3:40 p.m. yesterday after two counterfeit $50 bills were spent there.

VANDALISM

• Gang-style graffiti was discovered on a building yesterday morning on the 700 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia, according to police.

BURGLARY

• Centralia police were called yesterday morning to the 2000 block of Gallagher Road where someone someone broke into a shop around 2 a.m. and took two Stihl chainsaws.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is reporting this morning that a deputy answered a call last Friday to the 2100 block of Salzer Valley Road outside Centralia in which someone went beneath a house and cut out the copper pipes for the plumbing. Also missing from outbuildings were items such as a dirt bike, tools, beer signs and model cars, according to the sheriff’s office. A blue and white 1990s Ford pickup truck was seen in the area, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said. The sheriff’s office is hoping anyone who saw the truck will call 911 or Crime Stoppers.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports this morning that someone cut locks on two cargo trailers at the 300 block of Mineral Creek Road, a burglary that was reported on Sunday morning. Among the items stolen from Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad were tools and spools of wire, according to the sheriff’s office. Someone used an electric cart to carry the items away, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

THEFT

• A red Habro bike was reported stolen from a fenced yard on the 800 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia yesterday. Also yesterday, a white, black and silver Air Max dirt bike-style bicycle was reported found stashed in some bushes on the 200 block of East Locust Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.

WRECKS

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports this morning a deputy arrested a 26-year-old Winlock woman for a hit and run on Sunday in which she allegedly was speeding along the 500 block of Gish Road in Onalaska and struck several unspecified objects along the side the road including a small shop. Kelsey R. Grant receive minor cuts from the incident and was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown. There was major damage to her 2007 Chevrolet pickup, Brown said.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports this morning a 24-year-old Centralia man was arrested for driving under the influence on Saturday evening when he flipped his Nissan pickup onto its top in the area of Cooks Hill and Lincoln Creek roads. Samuel J. Billman was bruised and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports this morning a deputy arrested a man on Saturday afternoon for driving under the influence after his vehicle ran into a utility pole on the 1100 block of Winlock-Vader Road. William M. Bowers, 68, of Toledo,  sustained some minor cuts and was  booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown.

STARING CLOWN KID

• Chehalis police were called about 6:40 p.m. yesterday to the 800 block of Southwest 21st Street where woman said her husband just had a conversation with an orange-haired teenager wearing clown makeup who had been staring into their house. The woman said she would call back if the clown returned, according to police.

DETAINEE CLIMBS OUT OF PATROL CAR WINDOW

• A 21-year-old arrested yesterday for a warrant after a foot pursuit in the area of Northwest Prindle Street reportedly kicked out a back window of a patrol vehicle, climbed out and ran away again. “He was again apprehended, put back in the patrol car and then booked into jail,” Chehalis Officer Linda Bailey said. It started about 11:40 a.m. when an officer spotted a pair of men walking whom he recognized were wanted, according to Bailey. They ran, she said. Ruben A. Inman, 21, was booked for escape, warrants and malicious mischief, according to Bailey. His brother, Marcus J. Inman, 22, of Centralia, was found and arrested for warrants, Bailey said.

INDUSTRIAL WIRE THEFT

• Centralia police were called just before 8 a.m. yesterday to Lakeside Industries on the 2000 block of Johnson Road where someone had stolen copper wiring, damaging at least one piece of heavy equipment at the business, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A deputy was called yesterday to Dulin Construction on the 3000 block of Foron Road in Centralia about another theft of wiring. One hundred-twenty-five feet of newly replaced cable was cut and then dragged off toward the railroad line and then to Foron Road, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Also taken was 200 feet of welding lead from a shed, the sheriff’ office reported. The $3,400 loss follows a burglary involving $4,000 worth of copper wire at the rock crushing company reported on Friday and a late August burglary in which as much as  200 feet of copper wiring was taken from the main unit at the business, according to the sheriff’s office.

TIMBER TAKEN

• A 46-year-old Castle Rock resident was arrested for first-degree theft after a deputy responded to a report yesterday morning of someone running a chainsaw and dropping at least one cedar tree at the 700 block of Rhoades Road in Winlock. The timber is owned by Rhoades Vista LLC, a Kent company, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Gerald H. Andersen was booked into the Lewis County Jail and deputies are looking for a 48-year-old Winlock man who they believe was working with Andersen, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown.

ATV MISSING

• A 2004 Polaris ATP500 quad was reported stolen from property on the 2600 block of Foron Road in Centralia yesterday. It happened sometime since Friday evening, according to the  Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The loss is estimated at $4,500.

DRUGS

• A 50-year-old Winlock man was arrested for a warrant then possession of methamphetamine after a traffic stop just before 10 p.m. yesterday near a gas station on the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard in Chehalis. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office says Howard D. Eslick struggled with a deputy after refusing to step out of a vehicle and was taken into custody with help from Chehalis police. A plastic baggie of suspected methamphetamine was found during a search and field-tested positive, according to the sheriff’s office. Eslick was booked in to the Lewis County Jail.

CAR PROWL

• Chehalis police were called about 2:40 p.m. yesterday about a vehicle prowl on Northwest Chehalis Avenue.

• Someone stole a gun from a window rack in a vehicle at the 100 block of Drews Prairie Road in Toledo sometime between 9 p.m. on Sunday and 6:30 a.m. yesterday, according to the  Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police took a report about 11 a.m. yesterday from Northeast Washington Avenue about a bullet hole found in the living room window of a home. The victim had been away for a couple of weeks and did not know when it occurred, according to police. It appeared to have been from a BB gun, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

WRECK

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports a 53-year-old driver said he fell asleep before his 1967 Chevrolet Camaro left the roadway and struck a utility pole on the 2900 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia yesterday. It happened about 3:20 a.m. and a deputy dispatched three hours later learned the car was totaled but the driver was uninjured, according to the sheriff’s office. A citation for second-degree negligent driving was issued, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

AUTO THEFT

• A 32-year-old Shelton woman who rented a vehicle on Friday from an auto rental business on the 500 block of East Summa Street in Centralia discovered that evening her car which she had left parked behind the building was stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department. She got an SUV fro  Enterprise Rent-A-Car to go shopping in Seattle and later got a phone call asking if she had picked up her car, according to police. She hadn’t. Missing is a blue 1993 Honda Civic with a license plate of 812 UID, according to police.

COPPER WIRE THEFT

• An estimated $4,000 worth of copper wire was stolen in yet another theft from a rock crushing company on the 3000 block of Foron Road in Centralia, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy called to Dulin Construction on Friday was told 40 feet of wire was missing, according to the sheriff office.

LOTS OF DIFFERENT STUFF STOLEN

• A pistol, two chainsaws, old fishing reels, a Yamaha snow sled and four studded tires with wheels for a Honda Accord were among the items stolen in a burglary on the 400 block of Schmit Road outside Toledo on Thursday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It happened between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and the sheriff’s office was told an individual with a backpack on a bicycle was seen in the area around that time, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

MOWERS MISSING

• Three Toro brand self-propelled lawnmowers were reported stolen from a home on the 300 block of Downing Road in Centralia yesterday. They were taken sometime during the previous two week, according to the Centralia Police Department.

GARAGE THEFT

• Centralia police took a report on Saturday evening from the 600 block of Jefferson Street in Centralia about a leaf blower and a standup freezer stolen from a garage sometime during the previous week.

WHISKEY SHOPLIFTED

• Police called about 6:45 p.m. on Saturday to the 500 block of South Market Boulevard in Chehalis were told a teenage boy had just run out of the store with a bottle of whiskey. He was not found but officers will review surveillance video to see if they recognize him, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

ASSAULT RIFLE AND SKATEBOARD

• Chehalis police were called just before 3 p.m. on Saturday and told one of three three teenage boys might be carrying an AR-15-style rifle wrapped in a sweatshirt as well as a skateboard in the area of Southwest First Street and Phillips Court. The teens were not located, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Police were called about 2:15 a.m. today to the 600 block of Jackson Street in Centralia where someone had gotten inside a pickup truck and stolen a stereo as well as part of the dashboard it was connected to. It happened sometime after 10 p.m.,  according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• A 24-year-old Rochester woman was arrested for possession of heroin about 3:25 a.m. on Saturday at the 700 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia. An officer who contacted Kira M. Fry because of a suspend driver’s license booked her into the Lewis County Jail,  according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 19-year-old Chehalis resident who went to the Chehalis Police Department on Friday on an unrelated matter was arrested for delivery of a controlled substance in connection with an investigation which resulted in a search warrant for drugs earlier in the day at a home on Southwest First Street near Market Boulevard, according to police. When he was arrested, an unspecified prescription pill was found in Nicholas A. Huston’s pocket, detective Sgt. Brian Hickey said. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

VANDALISM

• Someone was seen leaving graffiti on a city-owned building on West Seventh and North Washington Avenue in Centralia just before 8 p.m. yesterday but fled before an officer arrived,  according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called to the 1300 block of South Schueber Road in Centralia where someone spray painted orange paint in the neighborhood.

• Police were called about 9:45 a.m. on Friday to the 1500 block of Oxford Avenue in Centralia where someone left graffiti on a house for sale. Someone crossed out some old “Sur 13-type graffiti” with a message about “white power”, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday to the 1400 block of Johnson Road in Centralia where an individual found chocolate syrup and eggs on their door.

WRECKS

• A 20-year-old man was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital then to jail for DUI after a single-vehicle accident on the 800 block of Gish Road in Onalaska around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Charles E. Evans III was driving a 1983 Ford pickup which sustained major damage, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’ Office. The truck landed in a field behind a house and a 19-year-old Onalaska man  – Dylan Brossett –  who tried to block an arriving deputy from coming up the driveway was arrested also, for obstructing, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown.

• An 18-year-old from Eatonville was uninjured and not ticketed after his 2001 Saturn left Skate Creek Road and landed about 100 feet down an embankment on Friday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office says it does not know why the driver lost control of his vehicle.

• A 34-year-old Chehalis woman escaped with scratches on her arm when she missed a turn in downtown Chehalis, ran into a tree and put her car upside down on Friday evening. It happened about 7:15 p.m. near Sterling Savings Bank on North Market Boulevard, according to police. The Buick Skylark suffered damage to its front, top and both sides, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

TRUCKS STOLEN FROM CAR DEALERSHIP

• Chehalis police were called about 9 a.m. yesterday when an auto dealership on the 1900 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue discovered two brand new trucks were stolen from the lot overnight. Taken from Uhlmann’s I-5 Toyota were a silver 2012 Toyota Tundra and a dark gray Toyota Tacoma. They were doubled-cabbed, lifted and sporting large tires and chrome wheels, according to police.

JEWELRY HEIST

• Someone forced their way into a home on the 900 block of Shorey Road outside Chehalis yesterday and left with nearly $12,000 worth of jewelry, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It happened between 7:50 a.m. and 3 p.m., Cmdr. Steve Aust said. Among the missing pieces are a gold necklace with an emerald, a silver garnet ring, a large opal ring and an aquamarine white gold ring, according to Aust.

MONEY MISSING

• Chehalis police were called to the 300 block of South Market Boulevard in Chehalis about 10:30 a.m. yesterday after a woman left her apartment door open while she went to get her mail and returned to find her wallet missing. It was subsequently found in the laundry room minus $35 cash, according to Chehalis police.

• Centralia police were called just before 11 a.m. yesterday to the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road about money stolen from a purse. The theft is under investigation.

BREAK-IN IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called at about 8:20 p.m. yesterday regarding a possible burglary at the 200 block of Northup Street. A door had been pried open and officers were told someone fled before getting inside, according to the Centralia Police Department. Nothing was taken, police reported.

ATV THEFTS

• A 2005 Kazuma ATV was stolen from a  driveway on the 5500 block of Jackson Highway near Toledo sometime after 10 p.m. Wednesday and before 7 a.m. yesterday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Deputies recovered a stolen ATV and arrested a suspect yesterday after taking a report from the 100 block of Oak Drive outside Chehalis. A 2001 Yamaha Raptor valued at $2,000 went missing from a shop on the property sometime since Aug. 31 and the victim suspected his girl friend’s ex-husband, who reportedly admitted to taking it, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. William D. Ayers, 45, of Chehalis, was booked in to the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary, Cmdr. Steve Aust said.

HIDING WOMAN FOUND BY POLICE

• Twenty-four-year-old Amanda M. Hickey of Centralia was arrested for rendering criminal assistance when she allegedly lied about the whereabouts of a woman being sought on a Department of Corrections warrant just after 12 p.m. yesterday at the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia. Hickey was released after being issued a citation but Dannette L. Burgess, 43, of Centralia, who was found hiding in a bathroom was arrested and booked for the warrant, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Police took a report of a purse stolen from a vehicle about 5:20 a.m. today at the 300 block of South Street in Centralia.

DRUGS

• Centralia police arrested two people for possession of methamphetamine after 6 o’clock this morning at the 1200 block of Alder Street. Booked into the Lewis County Jail were Raclynn D. Gonzales, 46, of Chehalis and Eric J. Vanasch, 36, of Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department.

PASSERSBY PERFORM CPR ON FALLEN BICYCLIST

• A 68-year-old bicyclist from British Columbia collapsed in the roadway on U.S. Highway 12 just west of Randle this morning and passing motorists who initiated CPR may have saved his life, according to Washington State Patrol. Trooper Mike Cournyer said it sounded as though David B. Williamson of Campbell River was in cardiac arrest when Stacey Wetzel of Onalaska and Carl Wyant of Chehalis stopped and helped him. It happened a bit before 9 a.m., Cournyer said. Williamson was taken to Morton General Hospital and then on to Harborview Medical Center. “It sounds like he’s doing okay,” Cournyer said later this morning. Cournyer said he thought the bicyclist was on a long distance trip having come from east of the mountains.

CAR STOLEN AS MAN GETS GAS

• A 23-year-old Centralia man filling up his tank on the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue in Chehalis rejected a woman’s request for a ride but left his car running when he went inside to get his receipt last night. She got a ride without him. “He looked out, noticed his car was moving and the female was driving it away,” detective Sgt. Brian Hickey said. An officer called about 8:40 p.m. notified area law enforcement the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier was stolen and it was located in Thurston County by a trooper, according to Hickey. After about a 10 minute police pursuit, the car and driver were stopped on Pacific Avenue in Olympia, according to police. Sara M. Abbott, 22, of Chehalis, was taken into custody and faces a possible charges of motor vehicle theft and possession of stolen property, Hickey said. The Olympian reports the chase reached speeds of more than 100 mph and included a state patrol pilot advising the trooper the driver struck a fence near Fusion Coffee House and O’Blarney’s Pub, before which Abbott was apprehended with suspected heroin in her possession.

WINLOCK HOME BURGLARIES

• The sheriff’s office is looking for information about a black early-2000s Jeep SUV seen in the area of a residential burglary on the 1200 block of South Military Road in Winlock yesterday. Sometime between 10 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. someone stole a laptop computer and a television, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Possibly related is another burglary reported yesterday on the 600 block of South Military Road, according to sheriff’s Cmdr. Steve Aust. Sometime after 7:30 a.m. and before 1:30 p.m., an estimated $6,500 worth of valuables were taken from a home there, including jewelry, a television and cash, Aust said.

FRAUD

• An individual from the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road in Centralia called police yesterday after he applied for assistance from the state Department of Social and Health Services and learned someone else had been using his social security number.

CAR PROWL

• Someone stole a backpack from a car parked on the 2500 block of Mount Vista Road in Centralia, according to  report made to police about 10 p.m. yesterday.

• Centralia police were called about a vehicle prowl on the 200 block of West Third Street around 2:30 p.m. yesterday. Missing was a blue Sun Mountain pull cart for golfing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

EMPTY TOLEDO AREA HOME GOES UP IN SMOKE

• More than a dozen firefighters responded to a blaze in a fairly new but vacant house about six miles east of Toledo this morning. The cause is under investigation. Lewis County Fire District 2 Chief Grant Wiltbank said when he arrived after the approximately 6:30 a.m. call he found flames venting from all openings on both floors as well as the roof. It was reported by a passerby. The home on the 300 block of Cedar Creek Road is about three years old, according to Wiltbank. Personnel from Vader and Winlock assisted and together they managed to save an attached garage, a nearby carport and prevented the fire from spreading into an adjoining timber parcel, according to the chief.

STOLEN CAR FROM ILLINOIS RECOVERED IN CHEHALIS

• Two women were arrested in Chehalis last night with a car stolen out of Illinois. An officer for whatever reason ran the license plate of a 2006 Dodge Charger that pulled into a convenience store and gas station on the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at about 10:50 p.m., according to police. Kaila Seward-Borgman, 20, of Tacoma, and Shulynn R. Hunter, 23, of Baltimore, were booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of stolen property, according to Chehalis detective Sgt. Brian Hickey. One of them said she was getting the registration transferred into her name, and one of the women was trying to escape an abusive boyfriend, Hickey said.

MAN GETS BURGLARY ARREST FOR MISDEMEANOR THEFT

• A 42-year-old Shelton man was arrested for burglary after he allegedly shoplifted about $50 worth of items such as laundry detergent, candy and salad from Wal-Mart in Chehalis about 2 p.m. yesterday. Jason L. Fletcher had previously been trespassed from all Wal-Marts, thus a burglary arrest instead of theft, according to the Chehalis Police Department. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

BOMB SQUAD PICKS UP SUSPICIOUS FIREWORKS

• After serving a protection order at a residence on the 800 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia late yesterday afternoon, an officer was told about some homemade fireworks on the premises. The possibly explosive devices were turned over to the Washington State Patrol bomb experts, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Centralia police were called about noon yesterday for a car prowl at the 1100 block of South Pearl Street. A stereo was stolen during the night, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Some change was stolen from a vehicle parked on the 300 block of South Market Boulevard in Chehalis, according to a report made to police yesterday morning.

• Chehalis police were summoned to the 400 block of Southeast Washington Avenue about 7 a.m. yesterday when a citizen noticed a car appeared to have been broken into. it appeared the glove box had been rifled through, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Someone left graffiti on a building on the 600 block of H Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police yesterday morning.

VEHICLE BURNS IN DRIVEWAY

• A Ford Expedition that hadn’t been driven since the day before caught fire in a driveway on the 3200 block of Fords Prairie Avenue in Centralia about 4:15 yesterday afternoon. While there was a large column of black smoke, the blaze was mostly confined to the engine area, according to Riverside Fire Authority. The vehicle was still totaled, Fire Capt. Ken Colombo said.

NO ELK CAUSED THAT WRECK

• A 39-year-old man who initially said he swerved to miss an elk on a Forest Service Road in East Lewis County last night was cited for wheels off the roadway after his car went down an embankment. The driver suffered scratches to his face and his 18-year-old passenger was not believed to be injured, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It happened about 10:40 p.m. near milepost 4 of Forest Service Road 23, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown. The Honda Accord was totaled, Brown said. When evidence at the scene suggested there may not have been an elk, the driver admitted there wasn’t, he was going too fast, according to Brown.
