DRIVE-THRU RAGE

• A 65-year-old was woman apologizing after bumping the vehicle ahead of her at the Centralia KFC drive-thru was attacked and knocked down by the other motorist yesterday. Police called to the 600 block of West Main Street at 5:15 p.m. were told the 65-year-old had gotten out of her car to examine the damage to the pickup truck and say she was sorry. The female in truck reportedly got out, confronted her, assaulted her and then drove off, according to the Centralia Police Department. The 65-year-old was transported to the hospital for possible injuries, according to police. The dark-colored Ford 350 pickup had Oregon license plates, police said.

AT HOME RAGE

• A 26-year-old rural Chehalis man who allegedly threatened to shoot a family member yesterday was arrested for felony harassment. A deputy was called about 1:50 p.m. to the 2000 block of Rice Road and booked Maxx Weston into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charge and the case will be handled instead in Lewis County District Court.

PORCH THEFT

• Centralia police were called about 7:20 p.m. yesterday to the 2300 block of Eureka Avenue where someone had stolen a package from a front porch which had been delivered by the carrier. The individual was able to take the item without being caught on video, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• A deputy contacted a pedestrian with a warrant about 4:50 p.m. yesterday walking on the 70 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue and found he had a glass pipe with suspected meth, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Terry R. Strong, 48, a homeless person, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

SURLY AND DRUNK

• A deputy responded about 10 p.m. yesterday to a convenience store and gas station on the 700 block of Leonard Road where an extremely intoxicated and agitated 24-year-old allegedly broke the glass door, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Charles E. Evans III, of Onalaska, was subsequently located and arrested for second-degree malicious mischief and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office. The damage is estimated at $1,000.

CHILD PORN ARREST

• A 26-year-old man was arrested after a search warrant was served about 7:30 a.m. yesterday at the 100 block of Paradise Lane in Toledo following the November receipt of information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that suggested he had 147 suspect videos, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Chriss Grammount, a Toledo resident, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of depictions of minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct as well as dealing in depictions of minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the sheriff’s office. Grammount was charged today in Lewis County Superior Court with four counts of the first offense. Charging documents allege he used his phone to download videos from Kik and transfer them to a publicly available Dropbox account in which his user name and associated email address were his own first and last names. His bail was set at $5,000 when he was brought before a judge this afternoon in Lewis County Superior Court. He works at Wal-Mart and the judge ordered him not be around children but said he would be allowed to go to work.

CHILD MOLESTATION ARREST

• A 55-year-old man was arrested yesterday and charged today with first-degree child molestation after a 9-year-old girl said he made her put her hand down his pants and touch him. The case was reported to the Chehalis Police Department in November when the girl’s mother noticed her child freaked out when she learned Eddie J. Martin was going to be coming to their home, according to charging documents. The girl’s step-sister told the mom what had occurred and the mom thought it must have been about two years ago because she had not seen Martin for a long time, charge papers relate. A forensic interview was conducted last week and the child repeated the story, saying he made her move her hand up and down, according to the allegations. Martin, who has a Winlock address according to court records, went before a Lewis County Superior Court judge this afternoon and his bail was set at $50,000.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A driver was injured and her 3-year-old passenger apparently unhurt when a car crashed into two trees off state Route 508 yesterday and was totaled. The driver, Joella M. Leal, 39, from Mossyrock, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital and the transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to the Washington State Patrol. Trooper called at 1 p.m. to the scene near Cinebar found the Dodge Neon had been traveling eastbound when it left the roadway, vaulted across Johnson Road and hit the trees, according to the state patrol. The wreck is under investigation.

• A deputy pulled over a vehicle which almost hit his patrol car on Interstate 5 near milepost 74 south of Chehalis about 5:50 p.m. yesterday and the driver reportedly said she was falling asleep while driving, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Desiree M. Stockert, 49, from Lacey, was found to be driving with a suspended license and a search that followed turned up suspected methamphetamine in her jacket pocket, according to the sheriff’s office. She was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of meth, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.

SMALL ARSON FIRE DOUSED INSIDE SCHOOL

• Investigators are looking into an intentionally set fire at a south Centralia grade school yesterday morning. Nobody was hurt and staff and students had evacuated after a fire alarm, according to Riverside Fire Authority. Crews called at 8:45 a.m. to Washington Elementary School on the 800 block of Field Avenue found smoke coming from the building, located a fire inside the boys bathroom and extinguished it, according to Fire Capt. Terry Ternan. He described the damage as light. Everyone was kept outside until the smoke was removed from the building, Ternan stated. The fire department is working with a police detective one the case.

BACKYARD THEFT

• Chehalis police were called about 12:15 p.m. yesterday to the 700 block of Southeast Adams Avenue about the theft of a Husky air compressor and blue and yellow floor jack stolen from behind a residence. The loss is estimated at $180, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

GARAGE BURGLED

• Centralia police were called to the 500 block of Girard Street yesterday morning where an individual reported a chainsaw, framing hammer and socket set were stolen from his garage sometime over the weekend.

LOST AND FOUND

• Cash was found at the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue yesterday and turned in to the Chehalis Police Department.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 24-year-old Winlock resident was ticketed for driving too fast after his car slid around a corner and struck a building yesterday morning at Northwest Pacific Avenue and Front Street in Chehalis. It appeared there was no major damage to the building, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 16-year-old girl sustained what seemed to be minor injuries after her car rolled several times off of state Route 508 south of Chehalis yesterday evening, according to authorities. Troopers and aid were called just before 6 p.m. to the scene just east of Jackson Highway. The two-door Honda Civic was totaled, according to the Washington State Patrol. “She was out of the vehicle, had gone to a nearby residence, and the car was up on its side off the road,” Lewis County Fire District 5 Firefighter-EMT Samantha Heldreth said. Hailee A. Wyatt, 16, from Onalaska, had been traveling westbound when her car left the roadway to the right, hit the ditch and then rolled, according to the state patrol. She was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital, according to the state patrol.

KNIFE VERSUS FIREPLACE POKER

• A verbal altercation last night south of Chehalis escalated when one man pulled a knife from his pocket and moved aggressively toward the other, who retrieved a fireplace poker and struck the first man to keep him away, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy called about 10 p.m. to the 200 block of Guerrier Road was told the first man threatened to kill the other man, a 44-year-old, according to the sheriff’s office. Corey J. Hickman, 31, was arrested for felony harassment and booked into the Lewis County Jail, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.

OUTBURST BETWEEN GROWN UPS AT SCHOOL EVENT

• Chehalis police were called about 7:15 p.m. yesterday for an argument between adults that turned physical while at a basketball game at R.E. Bennett Elementary School. It started in the gym and moved to the parking lot, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Police were told that there was yelling and then a 36-year-old man pushed a 31-year-old man, while the mother of one of them said she was knocked back when she tried to break it up. Eathon A. Wesen, 36, of Chehalis, was arrested for fourth-degree assault and then released pending a court date, according to police. The disagreement between the men, one of whom was previously married to the other’s wife, was related to kids and yelling at the woman, according to police.

UNWANTED VISITOR

• A 32-year-old Chehalis resident was arrested yesterday after Centralia police were called to the 1600 block of Eshom Road in Centralia at about 12:25 p.m. because he allegedly entered a residence where he was not supposed to be, because of a court order. Damion E. Robbins was arrested for for residential burglary and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BUSINESS BURGLARY

• Centralia police were called just before 8:30 a.m. yesterday to a business on the 200 block of South Pearl Street where sometime during the night someone broke in and stole money, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MISSING CAR FOUND

• Centralia police took a report about 1:30 p.m. yesterday that a Toyota Camry was missing from a home on the 200 block of Downing Road where it was being repaired. A suspect was found in the vehicle by Chehalis Tribal Police and was arrested, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Centralia police were called to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road about 11:45 p.m. yesterday where someone had broken the rear window of a pickup truck and stole keys and cash, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An officer was called about 9:35 p.m. yesterday to the 500 block of North Iron Street in Centralia following the discovery an unknown person had rummaged through an unlocked vehicle and taken paperwork, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Someone brought a found purse into the Chehalis Police Department yesterday which turned out to belong to a woman whose vehicle was prowled on Saturday at the 1700 block of North National Avenue in Chehalis.

CAR CHASE, SHOOTING

• Centralia police are investigating after a report about 10:15 p.m. yesterday of one vehicle chasing another and firing a shot at the fleeing vehicle. A witness who had already called police then reported that the chasing vehicle returned and fired a shot at her. No impact point could be located, according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is associated with an address at South Rock and West Cherry Streets. The suspect vehicle is described as a red four-door possibly a later 1990’s Buick or Oldsmobile, with a white male driver in his late 20’s to early 30’s, according to police.

ASSAULT

• Centralia police responded to an approximately 2 a.m. 911 call to the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue where a male victim said he had been assaulted with pepper spray. The incident is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

A DOZEN GUNS STOLEN

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports a search warrant served at a Rochester residence yesterday turned up 12 firearms stolen the day before from a gun cabinet in a home on the 100 block of Rose Marie Drive in rural Chehalis. The 41-year-old victim suspected a person who had been at the residence earlier and was asking questions about the victim’s belongings, according to the sheriff’s office. Seth E. Lloyd, 29, of Rochester, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for numerous offenses including first-degree burglary and unlawful possession of firearms, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.

SECOND SUSPECT PICKED UP

• Police yesterday arrested their second suspect in a break-in from Saturday afternoon in which a woman called 911 from her locked bedroom as someone was kicking in her door. Reginald D. Ford was booked into the Lewis County Jail yesterday evening for residential burglary, according to the Centralia Police Department. A 20-year-old, Isaiah M. Kelly, was arrested on Saturday after the incident at the 900 block of West Pear Street.

AUTO THEFT

• A green 1991 Mazda pickup was taken sometime in the night from where it was parked at the 1400 block of Logan Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police just after 9 o’clock yesterday morning.

CAR PROWL

• Chehalis police were called yesterday morning about a possible vehicle prowl that had occurred previously at the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way.

DRUGS

•  The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning a 35-year-old man was arrested because a small plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine was located as he was being processed into the Lewis County Jail at about 3:30 a.m. today. Ian T. Westenfelder, of Packwood, was being booked for an unrelated reason, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Chehalis police were called to the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue about 7:30 a.m. yesterday regarding a driver and passenger sleeping in a running car. The officer spoke with them and noted a glass pipe and a piece of foil in the lap of 20-year-old Anna M. Folden of Chehalis, according to the Chehalis Police Department. She was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and then released, according to police.

HIT AND RUN

• Centralia police were called to a business on the 600 block of North Tower Avenue just before noon yesterday after a car struck the building and took off. The suspect Volkswagen Jetta was located within the hour at Wal-Mart in Chehalis and occupied by at least four individuals, but not the suspected driver, according to police. Two of them were arrested on outstanding warrants, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Nobody was hurt, but the impact shoved a wall into freezers pushing them forward inside B and D Market, according to its owner David Haladay.

DOMESTIC INCIDENT

• A 29-year-old Chehalis woman was arrested after the father of her children arrived home and found her standing in his living room on the 300 block of Southwest Eighth Street in Chehalis on Friday night. The home was reportedly ransacked and she was saying the man and his girlfriend had her children, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Kayleigh S. McDaniel was not supposed to be there because of a recent court order, according to police. McDaniel was allegedly wearing a pair of shoes which belonged to one of the residents. She was booked into the Lewis County Jail for residential burglary. During the same visit by police, a 33-year-old Chehalis man found sleeping in a bunk bed in a shed in the back was arrested for first-degree trespassing, according to police. Michael A. Hilton, was also booked into jail.

ATTEMPTED THEFT

• Chehalis police were called to a business on the 1700 block of North National Avenue about 10 p.m. on Friday following the discovery someone had scaled a fence and stolen a garbage can and several tools such as an ax and shovel. The items, valued at more than $1,800, were located in the Christmas trees, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

AUTO THEFT

• A red 1992 Toyota pickup truck was reported stolen just before 10:30 a.m. yesterday from the 1100 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia. It has a license plate reading B9272S, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called just after noon yesterday regarding a bicycle stolen from a garage at the 200 block of Denny Way.

CAR PROWLER

• Chehalis police were called to a business on the 1700 block of North National Avenue about 8:15 p.m. on Saturday after an employee discovered someone had broken their car’s passenger window and taken a purse.

DRUGS

• A 36-year-old Chehalis woman was arrested for possession of heroin after contact with police at the 1200 block of Mellen Street in Centralia at about 2:50 p.m. yesterday. Jennifer R. Brown had an outstanding felony warrant and was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 33-year-old Bothell resident was arrested for possession of heroin and a warrant following a traffic stop about 9:30 a.m. yesterday on U.S. Highway 12 near Fischer Road near Salkum. Von A. Chase was also driving with a suspended license, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• A 30-year-old Oakville man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and a warrant following a traffic stop about 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday at the 1300 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia. Sean A. Penn was also driving with a suspended license, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

GLASS PIPE HEIST

• Someone broke into a Centralia smoke shop after hours last night, making off with what the owner estimates was about $2,000 worth of merchandise. Police called just before 11 p.m. to the 600 block of West Main Street noted the back door was smashed in. Smokin Js owner Jay Fratt said the thieves stole numerous glass water pipes. The burglary was captured by surveillance cameras and police are investigating, according to the Centralia Police Department. Fratt believes a pair of males browsing through the store a few hours earlier were actually casing the place. His cameras caught pictures of their faces as well, which he has shared with police. Smokin Js is in a new location, just west of the building it previously occupied.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• When a suspected drunken driver refused to pull over yesterday evening in Centralia, a patrol officer used the side of his vehicle to force the car to the curb, according to the Centralia Police Department. Police say the vehicle had struck a concrete parking stop and dragged it into the yard of a home in the area of the 1500 block of Jensen Avenue. The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. and the driver was headed toward the heavily-trafficked Harrison Avenue, according to police. Michael L. Lindsey, 58, of Auburn, was then arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

THREAT ABOUT GUN AT SOLID WASTE CENTER LANDS CUSTOMER IN JAIL

• A 37-year-old man from Portland was jailed yesterday after an altercation with an employee and another customer at the Lewis County Transfer Station in which he allegedly threatened to kill them with a gun because they were white, because they were “killing his people,” according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers called to the trash collection center on the 1400 block of South Tower Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. yesterday learned Andrew T. Seaman was told by the employee to back his vehicle off the scale at the entrance because another customer was still parked on it, according to the Centralia Police Department. Other employees responded and the first worker was quite frightened and clearly upset by the man’s words, according to police. Seaman  was arrested for malicious harassment, Sgt. Dave Clary said.

DOMESTIC ATTACK

• Centralia police were called about 9:50 p.m. Thursday for a woman who said her grown niece assaulted her, breaking her nose at the 2500 block of Howard Avenue. The case is being investigate as a second-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BURGLARY

• Police were called just before 2 p.m. Thursday for a break-in to a residence at the 400 block of South Cedar Street. Three Samsung televisions were stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called to the 300 block of Linda Lane in Centralia about 10:15 a.m. Thursday to take a report of an attempted burglary. Someone attempted entry through a door panel, but the suspects were frightened off by the victim’s dog barking, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Centralia police were called to the 3200 block of Galvin Road abut 8:35 a.m. Thursday for a vehicle prowl. A window was broken, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• A 50-year-old Centralia man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine when he was picked up on a warrant yesterday around 2 p.m. yesterday at Summa Street and Tower Avenue. Patrick N. Martin was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 17-year-old was arrested for possession of marijuana  when contacted in a traffic stop at Washington Avenue and Fourth Streets in Centralia just before 11 p.m. on Thursday. The teenage boy was released to a parent and the case will be forwarded to juvenile prosecutors for charging, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called just before 5 p.m. yesterday to the 1900 block of Ahlers Avenue where someone had shot out the rear window of a vehicle with a BB gun.

• Centralia police were called about 7:20 a.m. yesterday to the 500 block of Harrison Avenue where a rock had been thrown through the window of a business.

RESIDENTIAL FIRE HELD TO KITCHEN

• A pan of cooking oil that overheated at a Centralia home yesterday ignited and burned a wall and cabinets but was knocked down before firefighters arrived. The crew called about 4 p.m. to the mobile home on the 100 block of Francis Lane confirmed the fire was extinguished and the occupant was uninjured, according to Riverside Fire Authority.
