BRANDISHING GUN

• Deputies called to the 100 block of Harold Drive in Chehalis at 6 p.m. yesterday for a verbal dispute were told a firearm had been brandished and upon discovering the subject was ineligible to possess guns, arrested 44-year-old Robert T. Cheney. Cheney was booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

BRANDISHING PRIVATE PARTS

• An unknown male subject entered a business on the 200 block of North Tower Avenue and exposed himself to an employee before being kicked out of the business, according to a report made to Centralia police just before 4 p.m. yesterday.

BREAK-IN

• Centralia police responded just before 2 a.m. today to the 100 block of East High Street where someone had tried to pry open the back door of a business.

• Centralia police were called yesterday to the 1000 block of B Street where during the night, a unknown person entered a detached garage and stole a propane heater, boots, a bar stool and  two Airsoft pistols.

DRUGS

• When police contacted a 27-year-old Centralia woman for allegedly attempting to gain entry to multiple vehicles at the 1000 block of Eckerson Road about 1:35 a.m. today, they found she was in possession of methamphetamine, according to the Centralia Police Department. Roxanne M. Phillips was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

THEFT OF WALLET

• Chehalis police were called to a business on the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue about 11:45 a.m. yesterday after a customer went to pay for her items, realized she had set her wrist wallet down on a shirt rack, went back there and discovered it was gone, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police took a report about 8:30 p.m. yesterday that someone stabbed the sidewall of a vehicle’s tire causing it to go flat at Center Street and North Tower Avenue.

LOST WALLET, PHONE

• A 67-year-old homeless man called 911 from the lobby of the Lewis County Law and Justice Center in Chehalis about 9:40 a.m. yesterday to report he’d lost his wallet and cell phone. It happened anywhere from the area of state Route 6 to in town, an officer was told. The phone is an LG brand, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Morton police reported yesterday the owner of a pair of dogs was cited following an incident from a week ago in which the animals reportedly attacked a house cat on a porch in the area of the 500 block of Main Avenue in Morton. The cat did not survive its injuries, according to the Morton Police Department.

TRUCK BURNS

• Firefighters were called about 4 p.m. yesterday to a fully involved in flames utility truck on southbound Interstate 5 just south of the U.S. Highway 12 interchange. The fire was extinguished and nobody was injured, according to Lewis County Fire District 5.

OUT-OF-CONTROL ROOMMATE

• A 31-year-old Chehalis area man was arrested yesterday evening after he allegedly broke the windshield of his roommate’s vehicle and told him if he called the police he would kill him. A deputy responding about 5:30 p.m. to the 200 block of Guerrier Road outside Chehalis spoke to the 72-year-old victim who had fled the home, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Corey J. Hickman was found with a laceration on his right hand and another on his left elbow, according to the sheriff’s office. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Lewis County Jail for felony harassment, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.

OUT-OF-CONTROL TEENAGER

• Police were called to the 200 block of Southwest 11th Street in Chehalis just after 11 a.m. on Friday where a 16-year-old girl allegedly threatened family member with a butcher knife and then threatened to turn the knife on herself. She was taken into custody for second-degree assault and a warrant and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

OUT-OF-CONTROL TREATMENT CENTER RESIDENT

• A 25-year-old client at the treatment center on the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue in Chehalis was arrested after he allegedly punched another client in the face, causing his head to hit a wall and causing him to lose consciousness on Friday. An officer responding to the 3:15 p.m. call booked Trevaughn Abernathy of Tacoma into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charge and referred the case for Chehalis Municipal Court.

ASSAULT CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called about 6:45 p.m. on Saturday when a 17-year-old girl reported she was punched in the face by an unknown male she refused to “hang with” at the 100 block of South Silver Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE: KIDDY PORN

• A woman whose significant other was in the Lewis County Jail called the sheriff’s office on Saturday after she went through his cell phone and found it contained pictures of suspected child porn. Deputies arriving to the 2900 block of U.S. Highway 12 about 8 p.m. took the phone, got a search warrant to look through it and ended up arrested 58-year-old Patrick B. Campbell for eight counts of first-degree possession of child pornography and 24 counts of second-degree possession of child pornography, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.

CAT BURGLAR CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called to a restaurant on the 700 block of Harrison Avenue about 6:50 a.m. on Saturday following the discovery of a burglary, in which someone entered from the roof and stole an undetermined amount of cash. Among the evidence collected from the scene were saws, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BREAK-IN CENTRALIA

• Police were called just after 1 p.m. yesterday for a burglary to a shop building at the 1200 block of Windsor Avenue in Centralia. The victim is compiling a list of items stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BREAK-IN RANDLE

• A deputy took a report from the 1700 block of Cline Road in Randle on Thursday morning in which a woman said someone stole approximately 47 Percocet tablets sometime during the previous 24 hours. They got into her home through an unlocked rear entrance, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The loss is estimated t $50.

VEHICLE THEFT

• Someone stole a black flatbed trailer from the 500 block of South Iron Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 4:50 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldog brand trailer has a wooden deck and a license plate reading 9546VJ, according to the Centralia Police Department.

OTHER THEFT

• Centralia police were called just before 3 p.m. yesterday to the  1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia to take a report of the theft of money.

• Cash was reported stolen from an unattended wallet at a drinking establishment on the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 12:15 a.m. yesterday.

• A 26-year-old woman who allegedly attempted to steal a cartful of merchandise from a store on the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis at about 12:20 a.m. on Saturday was subsequently located and arrested for second-degree theft as well as possession of methamphetamine. Diana C. Nelson, from Tumwater, left the cart of goods behind, according to the Chehalis Police Department. She was  but was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• An officer was called just after 9 a.m. on Friday to take a report of medication stolen from the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road in Centralia the week before.

• A deputy responded about 11:20 a.m. on Friday to the 100 block of Ryan Drive in Chehalis where a woman reported the theft of a John Deere PTO-style fence auger from her property sometime during the previous two weeks. The loss is estimated at $2,000, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Centralia police were called about 11:50 a.m. on Saturday for a vehicle prowl at the 500 block of South Ash Street in which remote control car parts were stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

OBSTRUCTING

• A 44-year-old Centralia resident contacted about 2:50 p.m. on Friday at the 400 block of East Plum Street in Centralia and arrested for an outstanding warrant was also arrested for obstructing a public servant after he allegedly lied to the officer about his identity. Patrick J. McCarty was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

KIDS AND WEED

• A call about possible trespassing at the 10 block of Southwest Sixth Street in Chehalis about 4:15 p.m. on Saturday turned up two teenagers allegedly smoking marijuana outside a vacant house. Cases were referred to prosecutors for possession of marijuana for the boys, ages 13 and 14, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Centralia police called to the 900 block of Johnson Road about 1:20 p.m. on Friday arrested a juvenile for possession of marijuana. The child was released and the case was referred to prosecutors for charging, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A deputy was called to White Pass Elementary School on Thursday after students overheard two boys talking about marijuana and ended up referring cases to prosecutors in which allegedly a 12-year-old boy said he received marijuana from a 13-year-old boy, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

VANDALISM

• An officer was called just before noon yesterday to Fort Borst Park in Centralia to take a report of a broken window to a vehicle there.

• An officer was called to the 600 block of North National Avenue in Chehalis on Saturday to take a report someone had shattered the front window of a business during the night.

• Police were called just after 10 a.m. on Saturday following the discovery someone had smashed out both driver’s side windows of a car parked parked in front of a home on the 800 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue in Chehalis. Someone also had broken to rear window of a vehicle at the 700 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue, according to police.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 25-year-old driver who allegedly struck two parked vehicles with his car was arrested for driving under the influence overnight in Centralia. Police called about 12:07 a.m. today to the 500 block of West Pine Street booked Angel Diaz, 25 of Centralia, into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Two vehicles wrecked, one right after the other, crossing an icy bridge at the 600 block of Shorey Road outside Chehalis early yesterday morning. Deputies and aid were called about 12:40 a.m. and found a Ford F150 approximately 20 feet off the road, on its side down a small embankment, according to responders. The 72-year-old driver from Chehalis had to be extricated by removing the truck’s windshield, according to Lewis County Fire District 6 and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. She had minor chest pain from her seatbelt and was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital according to Fire District spokesperson DJ Hammer. The 27-year-old driver of a Jeep Liberty told a deputy he saw the driver of the pickup truck lose control and when he tried to avoid her, he also lost control on the bridge deck, traveling down an embankment on the east side of the road, according to the sheriff’s office. His 14-year-old passenger was reportedly unhurt. Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said the 27-year-old Centralia man was taken to Providence via personal vehicle and had X-rays taken for back and leg pain. Both vehicles were totaled, Breen said. District 6 reminds motorists to be cautious about the potential for black ice, especially on less-traveled roads, when temperatures are low.

• A 24-year-old man from Lebam was arrested for driving under the influence after his Subaru Legacy collided with a car sending its 50-year-old driver to Providence Centralia Hospital with neck pain at about 10 a.m. on Sunday in Doty. A deputy called to Elk Creek and Stevens roads contacted Matthew Friese who reportedly acknowledged he had been traveling too fast and couldn’t stop at a stop sign, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Friese’s car was totaled and he was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

CAR-HOME DESTROYED BY FIRE

• Firefighters responding just before 11 a.m. yesterday to reports of a fire and explosions found a car fully involved in flames off Southwest Chehalis Avenue down from the Lewis County Jail and Darigold, according to the Chehalis Fire Department. It’s owner had spent the night in the vehicle and gone into the Lewis County Gospel Mission to get some breakfast, Fire Capt. Casey Beck said. “The gentleman was living in the car, and as you can imagine, it was pretty well packed with his belongings,” Beck said. The fire captain said the car’s owner had made some sort of heater to keep warm during the night and he suspected that was related to the fire. The explosions heard were likely aerosol cans. Beck said.

THEFT OF SANDWICH

• A 24-year-old man who allegedly tried to steal a sandwich and vehicle oil from Wal-Mart yesterday ended up getting arrested for attempting to elude. Police were notified about 4:20 p.m. and caught up with the suspect car on Main Street, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The driver attempted to flee but slid up onto a sidewalk and came to rest next to a wall at Northwest Quincy Place and Prindle Street, according to police. Darin M. McKinley was booked into the Lewis County Jail for eluding and a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, and faces potential charges also for driving with a suspended license and third-degree theft, department spokesperson Linda Bailey said.

THEFT OF COAT

• Someone stole a jacket from a garage on the 1100 block of F Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police just before 6 p.m. yesterday. It was a camouflage coat, according to the Centralia Police Department.

STOLEN CAR ABANDONED

• Chehalis police called about 10:40 a.m. yesterday regarding a suspicious vehicle which had been parked at the corner of Sixth Street and Washington Avenue for awhile discovered the silver 2016 Honda Accord with Oregon license plates had been stolen out of Longview. It was impounded, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Chehalis police were called about 9:50 p.m. yesterday for a car prowl at the parking lot on the 2100 block of Southwest Woodland Circle. The front passenger window had been broken and a purse taken, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

WARRANT ARREST

• Anthony P. Burleson, 20 of Centralia, was arrested for an outstanding warrant as well as identity theft and providing false information when contacted about 12:30 p.m. yesterday at the 1600 block of Delaware Avenue in Centralia. Burleson was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• A 39-year-old Rochester man was arrested after a traffic stop about 9:25 p.m. yesterday on southbound Interstate 5 in Chehalis. James C. Cunning didn’t have identification but said his license was suspended and a search incident to the arrest turned up a small clear baggie of a white substance in his pocket that field tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• A customer turned in a wallet found at the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis just before 3 p.m. yesterday and when the clerk opened it up to check for identification, small plastic bags with suspected drugs were discovered, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Anna M. Kohler, 31 of Centralia, was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant as well as possession of methamphetamine after contact with police about 11 a.m. yesterday at the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia. She was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

GARAGE BURNS

• Lewis County Fire District 6 says one person suffered a minor injury when a fire broke out overnight in a detached garage off the 100 block of Kennicot Road in Chehalis. Crews arriving after the 12:31 a.m. call found the approximately 30-foot by 30-foot building fully involved in flames, according to department spokesperson DJ Hammer. “It took approximately 40 mins. to bring the fire under control and star overhaul procedures on the structure that had collapsed on its self,” Hammer wrote. The patient lives on the property and had a hand injury, but Hammer didn’t know how it occurred. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. They were joined by personnel from three other departments.

IVES ROAD FIGHT

• A 22-year-old Centralia resident was arrested last night after allegedly assaulting the father of his former girlfriend at the 3100 block of Ives Road in Centralia. Deputies called about 7:50 p.m. were told Antonio Rivera went to the 40-year-old man’s residence to retrieve some of his belongings, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. “As he was removing items, he began to argue and was told multiple times to leave the apartment,” sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said. Rivera allegedly assaulted the victim using his hands and closed fists, causing lacerations, bruises and possible fractures, Breen said. Rivera was subsequently located and detained by Centralia police and turned over to deputies. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault and first-degree burglary. The 40-year-old victim was taken to the hospital for further evaluation of his injuries, Breen said.

STUFF STOLEN FROM GARAGE

• Centralia police were called just before 2 p.m. yesterday to the 1000 block of Mellen Street for a burglary to a garage in which a sleeping bag, boots, trash bags and a case of bottled water were taken.

DRUGS

• Shyla M. Winterholler, 34 of Centralia, was arrested about 5:50 p.m. yesterday at the 400 block of West Main Street in Centralia for an outstanding warrant. Winterholler was wanted in connection with a burglary on Friday at the 400 block of Courtland Street in which two others were previously arrested. She had suspected heroin and meth in her possession at the time of her arrest, according to the Centralia Police Department.

NEIGHBOR WITH KNIFE

• An argument over parking issues in a shared driveway between two neighbors in rural Toledo yesterday landed one man in jail as he allegedly produced a knife and stepped toward the target of his ire. A deputy responding about 2:30 p.m. to the 100 block of Templeton Road learned the 59-year-old man retreated and then arrested 50-year-old Cleonies Odom for first-degree assault, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Odom was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

THEFT, THEFT, THEFT

• Police were called just before 2 p.m. yesterday to the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road in Centralia to take a report of the theft of money from a social security account. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An officer was called to the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia about 11:35 .m. yesterday about the theft of money. An investigation is underway, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police took a report yesterday afternoon from the 1200 block of South Tower Avenue of the theft of medication.

• Morton police responded to an approximately 11:30 a.m. call on Thursday to the 100 block of East Main Street for a possible theft. The case is pending further investigation after the video footage is reviewed, police noted yesterday.

• Centralia police responded about 6:25 a.m. today to the 100 block of Harrison Avenue where two vehicles parked at a business had been broken into.

HANDBAG STOLEN FROM CHURCH

• Witnesses identified a 36-year-old homeless man as the individual who entered a Glenoma church and took a purse belonging to a 79-year-old woman, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement called just after noon on Saturday to the 100 block of Hamilton Road learned an individual followed Daniel A. Rude and two teenage boys, who allegedly helped hide the stolen property, according to the sheriff’s office. The victim was inside the church cleaning it and had left her purse in another room while she was cleaning, according to Chief Deputy Dusty Breen. Rude was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree theft and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for the same offense were a 16-year-old Chehalis resident and a 17-year-old Centralia resident, Breen said.

OFF THE ROAD

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office says an 18-year-old driver was under the influence of intoxicants when she missed a turn and struck a guard rail, a tree, a parked car and a house at the 2100 block of Rice Road in Chehalis overnight. A deputy responding to the 12:30 a.m. call reported the Honda Civic, with three teenage passengers, was totaled, according to the sheriff’s office. The parked 2008 Saturn sustained major damage, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said. Kimberly Herrera-Torres, from Toledo, was arrested for driving under the influence as well as three counts of reckless endangerment, Breen said. It was the third time in 36 hours a motorist crashed into a home locally.

• A 23-year-old man was arrested after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a light pole, a fence and a residence at the 1000 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia yesterday. An officer responding about 2:40 p.m. reports nobody was injured but  Richard A. James, of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for driving under the influence and reckless driving,according to the Centralia Police Department.

CHILD WHIPPED WITH CORD

• A 37-year-old Centralia man was arrested yesterday after a deputy was called about an incident at the 2600 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia where the man had allegedly struck a 9-year-old boy multiple times with an electrical cord the evening before, leaving bruises and injuries to his buttocks and hip area. Luis A. Cruz-Garcia also allegedly pulled the hair of the child’s mother. He was  booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault of a child and fourth-degree assault, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

WOOD CHIPPER PINCHED

• Centralia police were called at 4:51 p.m. yesterday to the 200 block of East High Street to take a report of the theft of a wood chipper from the front of a residence.

LOST AND FOUND

• Chehalis police were called about 2:50 p.m. yesterday about a vehicle prowl at the 2100 block of North National Avenue in which a purse was stolen. Another individual called police about 4:50 p.m. to report finding a purse in an alley, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Credit cards, coins and some cash were missing but the rest of the contents were still inside and it was returned to its owner, according to police.

PUD SCAM

• An individual reported to Chehalis police on Friday they’d received a phone call from someone claiming their electricity would be shut off if they didn’t pay their power bill within the hour. The potential target was told to go to Safeway, purchase a pre-paid card and then wait for instructions, but called police instead, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

DRUGS

• A wanted person who fled on foot when a deputy following up on a tip arrived to the 1800 block of Seminary Hill Road about 10 p.m. on Sunday was chased down and subsequently located with “quantities” of heroin, methamphetamine and oxycodone as well as paraphernalia, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Cameron A. Maden, 33, of Seattle, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act and his warrant, according to the sheriff’s office.

• A deputy at the 100 block of Sandy Lane about 10 a.m. on Saturday for an unrelated investigation came across a 50-year-old Centralia man with an outstanding warrant who was subsequently found to possess multiple meth pipes, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. After a field test that came out positive for methamphetamine, James A. Nix was arrested for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 26-year-old motorist from Everett allegedly crashed his vehicle into a residence at the 2800 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia at about 1:10 a.m. yesterday. James R. Aartes reportedly ran off but was found, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Nobody inside the house was hurt, according to the sheriff’s office.

• A driver reportedly traveling about 80 mph on Harrison Avenue in Centralia at about 2:50 a.m. on Sunday who failed to pull over for a deputy was subsequently arrested for felony eluding, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Jonathan M. Pearl finally stopped on E Street, smelled of intoxicants and was unable to stand on his own, according to the sheriff’s office. Pearl, 31 of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• A 26-year-old motorist who was allegedly found to be intoxicated after a single-vehicle wreck on the 100 block of Middle Fork Road in Chehalis at about 10:45 p.m. on Saturday was arrested for driving under the influence as well as reckless endangerment, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Jimmie F. Elliott of Onalaska, had a passenger with him; his 27-year-old pregnant wife, according to the sheriff’s office. She was taken to the hospital for a precautionary screening, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said. Elliott was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• An officer was called just before 3 p.m. yesterday to the 100 block of West Plum Street in Centralia where someone had broken into a shed and stolen some tools. The suspect was caught on surveillance video, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called just before 11 a.m. yesterday to the 900 block of H Street in Centralia to take a report of an overnight burglary to a shed.
