SEX ASSAULT INVESTIGATION

• Centralia police were called about 10:35 p.m. yesterday to take a report from two girls who reported being sexually assaulted by a boy in the area of the 1100 block of G Street. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

WALLET LIFTED FROM SHOPPING CART

• Chehalis police were called by a woman yesterday who reported her wallet went missing while she was shopping at Wal-Mart on Sunday. She said she had noticed a male and a female following her, but didn’t think much about it until later, according to the Chehalis Police Department. When she got to the check stand to pay, her wallet was no longer in her cart, according to police. The woman learned from law enforcement in Thurston County that some of the items from her wallet were found laying in a yard there, Deputy Chief Randy Kaut said. Kaut said it wasn’t clear from the written report if the wallet had been in a purse in the cart or just loose in the cart.

OTHER THEFT

• Centralia police were called about 11:30 a.m. yesterday regarding the theft of a purse – and its contents – during the night from the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue.

• A generator was stolen out of the back of a pickup truck at the 1500 block of View Avenue in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 7:25 a.m. today.

ON THE ROAD, INTO THE DRIVEWAY

• When drug detectives attempted to stop a car in south Centralia just before 6:30 p.m. yesterday, the subject drove off at a high rate of speed and lost control slamming into the carport of a residence at the 600 block of Woodland Avenue. The damage to the car and the carport were described as minimal and one of the vehicle’s two occupants complained of soreness, according to the Centralia Police Department. Two people were detained on warrants and the incident is being investigated, according to police. Gabriel Escamilla, 24, of Centralia, was subsequently arrested and then charged today in Lewis County Superior Court with attempting to elude, possession of methamphetamine and possession of heroin with intent to deliver. Charging documents indicate he was pursued by an unmarked law enforcement vehicle which activated it emergency lights. Skid marks left by his car measured just shy of 150 feet, Lewis County Deputy Prosecutor Paul Masiello wrote in charging documents. Escamilla’s bail was set at $25,000.

AUTO THEFT

• An individual who parked his 2003 Kia last night next to an apartment building at the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue in Chehalis called police just before 7 a.m. today upon discovering it was gone. It turns out the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office had found it abandoned earlier in the night off Big Hanaford Road, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• A 44-year-old homeless woman was arrested for vehicle prowl in an approximately 6:50 a.m. case today associated with the 200 block of Railroad Avenue in Centralia. Genaveva R Webb was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

OTHER THEFT

• A package was reported to have been stolen from the front porch of a residence at the 700 block of G Street in Centralia, in an approximately 8:30 a.m. call yesterday.

• Police were called just after 1 p.m. yesterday to the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road to take a report someone entered a room the day before and removed items from a purse.

LIQUOR HEIST

• Five individuals from Portland were arrested after allegedly stealing more than $800 worth of alcohol from the Safeway store at the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia yesterday. Officers called at 4:35 p.m. indicate their suspects were found by a trooper near milepost 59 after an “attempt to locate” was issued. Those booked into the Lewis County Jail for organized retail theft are identified by police as Isiah R. Campbell, 20; Johvanee A Hall, 21; Latia D. McDaniel, 25; Zariah Y. Torregano, 20; and Jovahntea R. Hall, 21. Prosecutors did not file criminal charges today, but a judge agreed to hold each of them on $10,000 bail and revisit the cases tomorrow afternoon. Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Brad Meagher said the service of a search warrant was being wrapped up and said it might be retail theft or it might be organized retail theft. The declaration of probable cause filed today states the assistant manager said they took a large amount of alcohol which they were stuffing in their purses.

BURGLARY

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at the 1800 block of Salzer Valley Road near Centralia in which about $4,000 of valuables were missing including a Remington rifle, three cell phones, three watches, two Xboxes and a car key. A deputy responding about 10:40 p.m. on Saturday could not find any forced entry, according to the sheriff’s office.

FRAUD

• A Chehalis resident called police just after 1 o’clock this morning to report learning someone had attempted to use her credit card information at a Marriott in Oregon, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The transaction didn’t go through, according to police.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Centralia police were called about 9:40 a.m. on Saturday to the 1700 block of Providence Lane regarding the theft of gasoline from a vehicle during the night.

• An individual called Chehalis police about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday to report a pistol was missing from their vehicle at the AM/PM at the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue.

DRUGS

• A 29-year-old Chehalis woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after being contacted by police at a business on the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia at about 10:20 p.m. yesterday. Ashely E. Howland was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department. A potential charge of providing false information to police is also being referred to prosecutors in connection with the case.

• A 35-year-old Chehalis resident was arrested for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act after police responded approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday to the 300 block of Southwest Third Street in Chehalis. Jesse F. Bowen was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FIRE

• Firefighters were called just after 4 p.m. yesterday to extinguish a vehicle fire near milepost 72 of Interstate 5, according to Lewis County Fire District 5.

• Firefighters were called about 12:45 p.m. yesterday to extinguish a fire in a dumpster at Jack-in-the-Box on Southwest Interstate Avenue in Chehalis.

• A 61-year-old Centralia man was arrested for hit and run yesterday in a case associated with the 200 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia. Police called at 12:09 p.m. issued a citation to Jeffery S. Palmer and then released him, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 20-year-old Centralia resident was ejected from his motorcycle when he collided with the rear taillight area of a Ford F150 pickup truck yesterday morning which pulled onto Lincoln Creek Road near Teague Road, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The truck driver was unhurt but the motorcyclist sustained an ankle injury and possible broken wrist, according to the sheriff’s office.

• Two people were injured yesterday morning when a suspected impaired driver of a pickup truck rear ended a van at northbound Interstate 5 just south of the Grand Mound interchange. Troopers responding at 9 a.m. indicate the Dodge Grand Caravan was stopped in traffic because of an earlier collision when the 2005 Ford F150 hit it. Both drivers were transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, according to the state patrol. Terry B. Ensell, 62, Tenino, was suspected of driving under the influence, according to the investigating trooper Carlene D. Lenard, 66, of Bainbridge Island, was driving the van. Northbound traffic was slowed because of two serious wrecks farther north in Thurston County, including one in which a Rochester man was killed.

SAWMILL ACCIDENT

• Firefighters were called about 11:30 a.m. today to the 500 block of Brim Road near Ethel where a man in his 70s was injured when he was hit in the chest by a slab of wood that kicked back at a small private sawmill, according to Lewis County Fire District 8. He was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital, according to Chief Duran McDaniel.

ATV ACCIDENT

• An 80-year-old man who might have broken a bone in his neck was airlifted this morning from the field where he fell off an ATV at the 300 block of Shanklin Road in Onalaska. He was flown to Tacoma General Hospital following the approximately 9:50 a.m. call, according to Lewis County Fire District 8.

• Centralia police were called about 7:30 p.m. yesterday for the reported theft of prescription medication from a suitcase that was left unattended outside of a business at the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue.

• Police were called to a store at the 500 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia about 8:30 p.m. yesterday where an individual reported someone stole their purse while they were turned away looking at something. Items in the purse included prescription medication, credit cards, cell phone and keys, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A deputy responding just after 2 a.m. today to a rollover collision at the 300 block of Coal Creek Road found a vehicle off the road, on its side and a man in the driver’s seat who appeared to be snoring, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Colt J. Kephart, 29, of Centralia, was taken to the hospital for medical care for unspecified injuries and then arrested for driving under the influence, according to the sheriff’s office. The 2014 Kia Rio was totaled. Kephart was subsequently booked into the Lewis County Jail, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.

• A 65-year-old motorcyclist was injured this afternoon when an oncoming passenger vehicle made a left turn and struck him on U.S. Highway 12 just west of Randle. Troopers called about 3:50 p.m. to the scene near milepost 113 report Charles F. McGhee, of Spokane, had been traveling westbound on a 1992 Harley Davidson FLSTC. He was transported to Morton General Hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol. Griffin S. Running, 23, of Maple Valley, had been headed eastbound, according to the state patrol. Both the motorcycle and the 2014 Ford Escape were damaged. Running was cited for failure to yield the right of way, according to the patrol.

• A 48-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for driving under the influence after a two-vehicle collision about 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Northeast Kresky Avenue at Median Street. The Chehalis Police Department reports a van with occupants that included five children was northbound and then turning left at Median when the passenger car passed it on the left. An arriving officer reported aid was tending to the youngsters, but no mention of injuries was made in the report. Jerry L. Holmes was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

BUSINESS BREAK-IN

• Centralia police were just before 4 o’clock this morning for a burglary at a business on the the 1100 block of West Main Street. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

TOOL TAKEN

• Deputies were contacted by a Winlock man yesterday who said his $900 chainsaw was missing from a workbench in his barn. The resident at the 100 block of Pine Tree Road said he was working on it and left it there about 1 p.m. on Tuesday and then at 8:30 a.m. yesterday saw it was gone, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It is a Stihl model 046 chainsaw with a 32-inch bar, according to the sheriff’s office.

FIREARMS STOLEN

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported yesterday that multiple pieces of jewelry and four guns were stolen in a residential burglary at the 100 block of Sandy Boulevard in Centralia between 12:15 p.m. and 4:13 p.m. on Tuesday. Missing are a  Ruger Mark II pistol, a Sig Sauer P226 handgun, a Beretta 92FS pistol and Heckler and Koch USP .45 ACP, according to the sheriff’s office. The loss is estimated at $3,000, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said.

FORGERY

• A Chehalis resident called police just after 10 a.m. yesterday to report they had been notified by their bank one of their checks had been used in the amount of $660. The victim didn’t know how the check went missing, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 27-year-old Centralia man, Lucas Bryan, was cited for for an open liquor container in the area of the Hub Tavern on the 100 block of South Tower Avenue just after 2 o’clock Wednesday morning.

VANDALISM

• Police were called about 4:25 p.m. yesterday when a victim reported damage to her vehicle while parked in a lot at the 1700 block of South Gold Street in Centralia.

• Centralia police were called about 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday to the 100 block of South Gold Street to take a report of vandalism to a vehicle tire.

BANK BAG SNEAKED OUT OF BUSINESS

• A 33-year-old former employee of a Mineral business was arrested after surveillance video allegedly showed her taking a bank bag containing $1,274 from behind the bar yesterday. A deputy was called just before 9 p.m. to the 100 block of East Front Street after it was discovered the item was missing from a drawer next to the cash register, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office reports approximately $365 was subsequently found behind Ashley R. Pendergrass’s residence, but she denied taking the bank bag. The Mineral woman was arrested for second-degree theft and booked into the into the Lewis County Jail.

WATCHFUL NEIGHBOR

• Chehalis police called about suspicious activity at a house at First Street and Adams Avenue just after 10 a.m. yesterday arrived to find a man carrying items including a jewelry box out the front door and ended up arresting him for residential burglary. He said at first he had permission but could not provide much information about who resided there, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Nicholas A. Brown, 37, from Spokane, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police. “Fortunately a neighbor noticed it and called it in,” Deputy Chief Randy Kaut said.

VEHICLE THEFT

• A Yamaha WR25X motorcycle was reported stolen from the 1000 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia at about 11:15 p.m. yesterday.

• A vehicle reported yesterday evening as abandoned in a parking lot at the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia turned out to have been stolen in Olympia, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A deputy was called about 12:30 p.m. yesterday to the 300 block of Jordan Road in Winlock where a 67-year-old man reported someone had removed the motor from his boat sometime since 8 a.m. the day before. Missing is a Mercury four-stroke motor valued at $1,250, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A fuel line was damaged as well, according to the sheriff’s office.

HANDBAG RECOVERED

• Centralia police were called at 4:30 p.m. yesterday regarding a purse stolen from an employee’s storage area at the 700 block of Harrison Avenue. The handbag was located not far away in a homeless camp, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An individual reported credit card fraud to police yesterday, in a case associated with the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia.

• A resident at the 1300 block of Alexander Avenue in Centralia reported about 3:20 p.m. yesterday their cell phone was stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called to a business on the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue yesterday afternoon because of five counterfeit $100 bills, a counterfeit $20 and then another $100, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Centralia police responded to the 400 block of South Pearl Street just before 4 o’clock this morning where an individual reported that someone struck his vehicle while he was sleeping in it, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A deputy called about 8 p.m. yesterday for a complaint of dirt bikes and pickup trucks racing down Central Avenue in Onalaska ended up playing cat and mouse with one dirt bike on and around Deggler and Dluhosh roads and terminated the pursuit but subsequently contacted a 15-year-old boy suspected to have been operating the bike. He was released to parents but a case will be referred to prosecutors for eluding, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

THEFT, FORGERIES UNDER INVESTIGATION TOLEDO

• A deputy was called to the 100 block of Lone Yew Road in Toledo on Friday to take a report of a theft in which blank checks were stolen, some of which had been written out for cash totaling $890. Also missing and believed to have been taken on the same day – July 29 – were several pieces of  jewelry, $10 worth of quarters and another $120 cash, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said there is a potential person of interest and Toledo police are working on forgeries related to the case.

INTRUDER GLENOMA

• A deputy was called to the 100 block of Uden Road in Glenoma just before 7 p.m. on Friday following the discovery someone had pried open a side door to a shop building there. It happened sometime since Aug. 13 and isn’t clear anything of value had been taken, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

VEHICLE THEFT

• Centralia police were called to the 400 block of South Buckner Street about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday to take a report of the theft of a white 1985 Toyota SR5 pickup from during the night. The truck has a blue stripe on the side, a black metal brush guard on the front and a license plate of B79361E, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called about 9 a.m. yesterday to the Southwest Washington Fair grounds following the discovery some medication was missing from a camper parked there.

• Centralia police were called just after 9 a.m. on Friday to take a report an iPad was stolen from an unlocked vehicle the previous morning at the 500 block of Harrison Avenue.

ASSAULT

• A 37-year-old Centralia woman – Judith M. Fenning  – was arrested for allegedly assaulting an officer in a Friday morning case associated with the 2400 block of West Reynolds Avenue in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• A deputy responded to the Lewis County Jail yesterday morning to investigate the discovery an inmate had 43 tablets of Clonazepam, a prescription medication the inmate said he had hidden and brought with him when he was arrested. The 37-year-old said he was taking them “to help” and a case is being referred to prosecutors for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

• Cristian Ramirez-Dado, 19, of Centralia, was arrested for driving under the influence as well as hit and run after allegedly being involved in a two-vehicle collision at the 1200 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia about 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Centralia Police Department. Police were unaware of any injuries.

• A 68-year-old man was transported to Morton General Hospital with serious injuries to an ankle and a shoulder after his motorcycle collided with his wife’s motorcycle when they came upon an unexpected stop sign at Forest Service Road 25 and state Route 131 in Randle on Friday. A deputy responding about 12:50 p.m. indicated she sustained minor scrapes, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The couple is from Vancouver, Washington, according to the sheriff’s office.
