TENINO MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY USING BASEBALL BAT ON ANOTHER TENINO MAN

• A 35-year-old man was hospitalized with a head injury after a fight broke out Sunday morning in the Tenino area when a woman and her brother were trying to load up her belongings after she and her boyfriend separated. Her brother, the 35-year-old Tenino man whose name was not released, was hit at least twice in the head with a metal baseball bat, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. Her former boyfriend, Sean P. Wilson, 35, of Tenino, was arrested and booked into the Thurston County jail for first-degree assault, according to sheriff’s Lt. Chris Mealy. The incident began as a call about a disturbance about 6:30 a.m. The sheriff’s office was told the woman learned her boyfriend was “burning her stuff”, so she, her brother and another individual went to the home on the 6000 block of Skookumchuk Road Southeast to retrieve her belongings, Mealy said. The brother brought the bat and at some point he and Wilson each used it to smash the rear windows of each other’s Ford pickup trucks, according to Mealy. As the pair fought, Wilson reportedly picked up the bat from the ground and hit the brother in the head, Mealy said. As of yesterday, the brother was in the intensive care unit at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia with a serious head injury, Mealy said. Wilson was also booked for fourth-degree assault as he reportedly punched his former girlfriend in the face, Mealy said.

BREAK-IN OCCURS WHILE ROCHESTER MAN WORKS OUT IN HIS YARD

• Alert neighbors tried to track down a suspicious man they saw fleeing a Rochester home yesterday morning after somebody broke in and stole about $200 cash, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. The resident was working on his mower on one end of his property when somebody apparently pried open a door and went inside, according to Lt. Chris Mealy. The victim, a 46-year-old male, found somebody had rifled through his roll top desk, taken the cash and scattered papers around. It happened about 11 a.m. on the 17,700 block of Pendleton Street Southwest. A sheriff’s office dog and its partner tracked down Jeremy R. Bunting, 28, of Tumwater. He was arrested for burglary.

FORGERY ARREST AT CASINO

• Deputies arrested a Chehalis man yesterday after he attempted to cash a suspicious check at the Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester. Ronald W. McNeal, 49, was booked into jail for suspected theft and forgery, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. He told the deputy he took the check from an individual to whom he sold a ring and some ear rings, but the Quiznos check, with his name imprinted on it, for $1226.37 had a notation “final paycheck.” The owner of the Centralia Quiznos confirmed the business had not issued the check, Mealy said.

LOTTERY TICKETS STOLEN IN CHEHALIS BURGLARY

• Approximately $1,400 of Washington State lottery scratch tickets were discovered missing after a sheriff’s deputy responded to a business burglary alarm early Saturday morning outside Chehalis. The deputy found somebody had entered the unnamed business on the 1100 block of Highway 6 through a broken window, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning.

BURGLARIES IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called after somebody broke into a building on the 1400 block of Lum Road and stole clothing. Details about how much and exactly what was taken weren’t initially available, as the owner of the goods being stored there wasn’t the individual who called police on Sunday morning, according to police Sgt. Stacy Denham.

• Centralia police took a report of a security camera stolen from a business on the 800 block of B Street at mid-day on Sunday.

• A laptop computer and two gold rings were reported missing from a hotel room on the 700 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia on Saturday evening.

• Jobie K. Watson, 24, of Centralia, was arrested after she allegedly got into a locked camper at her mother’s home on the 900 block of Ham Hill Road in Centralia and made off with a check and a handful of Oxycontin and other pills, according to Centralia police. She was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary, according to Sgt. Stacy Denham.

POLICE FIND PIPE, DRUG RESIDUE

• Alicia A. Oleachea, 29, of Centralia, was arrested after she was contacted by police responding to a report of someone cutting though yards and climbing fences in the area of the 300 block of Noel Avenue in Centralia about noon on Saturday. A search turned up a suspected methamphetamine pipe with residue and she was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, according to Sgt. Stacy Denham.

VANDALS HIT CHEHALIS VEHICLES

• Chehalis police were called about 5:40 a.m. on Sunday by a woman who said she woke up to find tires slashed on both her and her husband’s vehicles. Just after noon, police took another call about slashed tires at an address unrevealed by police and the same officer dealt with four other incidents shortly after of third-degree malicious mischief. It’s not clear from Chehalis police information if all were slashed tires. Further details were unavailable.

FOUND MARIJUANA

• Eight marijuana plants were taken away by a deputy to be destroyed after a resident walking to his mailbox spotted several potted plants near his driveway on Friday afternoon on the 5000 block of 222nd Avenue Southwest outside Centralia, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. The resident described damage to his own plantings and tire tracks that looked as though a vehicle had driven away quickly, sheriff’s Lt. Chris Mealy said.

CAR VS. BUILDING

• Police and the fire department were called to downtown Pe Ell yesterday when a car ran into a building. Fire Chief Michael Krafczyk said the bumper of the Crown Victoria was shoved in but the building – formerly a mechanic’s garage – on Main Street held up “pretty well”. The incident just before noontime resulted in only minor injuries, Krafczyk said.

“MAGIC” MUSHROOMS, MARIJUANA AND METH FOUND; THREE ARRESTED

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported yesterday that an ongoing drug investigation led to the seizure in Centralia of hallucinogenic mushrooms, roughly a half pound of marijuana, a small amount of methamphetamine and a stolen .25 caliber pistol as well as scales and packaging materials. The visit by detectives about 12:30 p.m. on Thursday to the 800 block of South Tower Avenue was arranged by the Lewis Regional Crime Task Force, which was assisted by Centralia police. Three people were arrested, according to the sheriff’s office. The mushrooms amounted to about 11 grams, said sheriff’s Lt. Steve Aust. Booked into the Lewis County Jail were David P. Butler, 38, of Centralia, for two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and one count of possession with intent to deliver; Dakota F. Ingram, 25, of Chehalis, for attempted delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm; and Anthony F. Johnson, 25, hometown unknown, for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to Aust.

TEEN CAR PROWL SUSPECT ARRESTED

• A 17-year-old male was arrested yesterday in Centralia for a vehicle prowl, according to police. The suspect was seen taking a stereo from a vehicle on the 100 block of West High Street in the approximately 4:50 p.m. incident. The unnamed teenager was booked in the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center, according to Centralia Police.

With one major exception, all major local fire departments and law enforcement agencies contacted said they had nothing of significance to report from the past day, also excluding the Chehalis Police Department. Nobody was available there to pass along any information on recent incidents.

THEFT FROM STORAGE CONTAINER

• An estimated $50,000 of goods described as flood prevention items were discovered missing from an outdoor storage container at K-Mart in Chehalis yesterday. Chehalis police said it’s not clear when the equipment was taken from the retailer on Louisiana Avenue.

MISSING MEDS

• Centralia police took a report yesterday afternoon of unspecified medication stolen from a vehicle in a grocery store parking lot while the man was shopping. Police noted they have no suspects from the approximately 4 p.m. car prowl on the 500 block of South Tower Avenue.

• Chehalis police were called yesterday morning from Southwest Lewis Street about the theft of prescription medication.

SMASH AND STEAL

• The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office today reported somebody smashed a car window and stole a purse with its wallet, bank book, credit cards and cell phone. The report about the incident on the 6100 block of Churchill Road Southeast outside of Tenino was made online to the sheriff’s office on Saturday.

EXPENSIVE GARDEN TOOL TAKEN

• When a 71-year-old Maytown area woman went out to do yard work over the weekend, her Craftsman high-wheeled trimmer was missing, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported today. The value was $350. Also taken from her shed on the 2000 block of Beaver Creek Road were full five-gallon and three-gallon gas cans, the sheriff’s office said.

MARIJUANA

• James Dickason, 45, of Centralia, was arrested  after a small jar of suspected marijuana was found in his pocket when he was stopped by a Chehalis police officer early this morning. He was cited and then released for possession of the misdemeanor amount of the drug, according to police.

CAT CARRIED OFF BY WILDLIFE

• Chehalis police were called just before 2 p.m. yesterday to a report a raccoon stole a kitten and took off with it from Northwest Shoreline Drive. Further details about the incident were unavailable today from police, as a report was made electronically and the computer system used countywide was “down” for maintenance, according to Chehalis Police Department detective Sgt. Rick McNamara.

TWO MEN TASED BY CENTRALIA POLICE

• Officers discharged their Taser guns in two separate incidents yesterday afternoon in Centralia when subjects reportedly resisted arrest. Police say Daniel J. Miller, 19, tried to pull away and fight after a 3:20 p.m. traffic stop on Kresky Avenue and East Summa Street. The Centralia resident was then booked for obstructing and resisting arrest, according to police. The initial traffic offense for which Miller was being arrested wasn’t released. At about 3:35 p.m., as another officer was arresting a 27-year-old Centralia man for shoplifting shoes over on Lum Road, the subject resisted and he was Tased, according to police. Bradley P. Whitcomb was then booked for third-degree theft, police reported. Further details were not immediately available this morning.

MORE STUFF STOLEN

• Two firearms, jewelry and tools were reportedly taken in a burglary to a residence on the 700 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia, according to a report made about 9:45 last night.

• Centralia police responded to a report made about 10:25 a.m. yesterday about a burglary to an un-named business. Somebody had disabled the surveillance equipment at the establishment on the 1200 block of Alder Street, according to an officer’s report. Police did not report details about what was taken.

• Somebody broke out a vehicle window and made off with a woman’s purse, according to a report made to Chehalis police about 8:45 a.m. yesterday. The Dodge caravan was parked in the 100 block of Northeast Washington Avenue.

• Several tools were stolen during a vehicle prowl in a lot on the 2000 block of Johnson Road in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 2:40 p.m. yesterday.

VEHICLE WINDOW SHATTERED

• Yet another smashed windshield was reported in Centralia yesterday afternoon. Police were called about 4:50 p.m. about the vandalism on the 200 block of Tilley Avenue.

STAFF MEMBERS AT GREEN HILL SCHOOL KICKED, PUSHED AND PUNCHED

• Chehalis police yesterday handled two reports of residents of Green Hill School assaulting staff members. The incidents actually occurred last month at the state prison for juvenile males on 11th Street, according to Chehalis Police Department detective Sgt. Rick McNamara. One subject, an 18-year-old reportedly kicked a male staff member in the head and has already been transferred to the state prison for adults based on the incident, McNamara said. In a separate case, a 16-year-old reportedly pushed one staff member into a wall and punched another staff member in the head, the sergeant said. No serious injuries resulted, he said. Each were arrested and the cases referred on for charging decisions for custodial assault. The delay in the arrests comes from the customary flow of paperwork from Green Hill to the police department, McNamara said.

Hub of satellite TV services trashed in East End

• Cable TV service was cut off Sunday in the Glenoma and Randle area after somebody broke into a building on the 8000 block of U.S. Highway 12 and caused an estimated $20,000 damage to fiber optic and satellite television equipment, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy was called about 7:15 a.m. when an individual who lives on the Glenoma property spotted a man who reportedly forced his way inside and used a saw to cut cables. The vandal was gone when the deputy arrived, but a suspect was arrested a short time later in Randle, Chief Criminal Deputy Gene Seiber said. Seiber said he didn’t know the motivation for the incident but said the suspect was not an employee or former employee of the business owner, Broadstripe LLC. Lyle R. West, 58, of Glenoma, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree malicious mischief and second-degree burglary.

Car windshields broken overnight in Centralia

• Centralia police responded to three incidents on Sunday to vehicle windows and windshields being smashed around town. The first was just before 1 a.m. on the 400 block of East Maple Street; and then at 9:30 a.m. another was reported on the 300 block of South Gold Street. About an hour later, an officer responded to similar vandalism on the 500 block of Courtland Street. Centralia Police Department Sgt. Carl Buster said it seemed like a pattern, and a rock was used in at least one of the incidents. Also, the glass front door of a business on the 200 block of South Tower Avenue was discovered shattered about 9:40 a.m. the same day.

Car Thefts

• Centralia police reported on Sunday the second of two Saturns stolen over the weekend in Centralia. A 2009 Saturn, license plate 430YHK, was taken from the 1200 block of Alder Street sometime before about 6 p.m. on Saturday, according to police. At about 4 a.m. the same day an individual on the 2000 block of North Pearl Street called police and said he went back into his residence while his blue 1998 Saturn was warming up and within just a couple of minutes, it vanished. It bears a license plate reading 280 YTY.

Diamond ring reported stolen

• A call to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office about a missing diamond ring on Friday led to an arrest  of a woman who allegedly took the $1,000 item and sold it to a pawn shop. Cathy M. Myers, 43, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for trafficking of stolen property, according to Chief Criminal Deputy Gene Seiber. Seiber described Myers as a former renter at the residence on the 100 block of Fisher Road where the theft reportedly occurred.

Pain meds lifted from unlocked vehicle at Wal-Mart

• Chehalis police reported today an officer was contacted Saturday evening about some medication – approximately 100 pain pills – stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot at Wal-Mart on Northwest Louisiana Avenue in Chehalis.

Chehalis police break up downtown brawl

• Chehalis police broke up a fight between at least six men outside a downtown bar just after 2 a.m. on Sunday. Nobody was hurt seriously and nobody wanted to go the hospital, but one man with a baseball bat was arrested for second-degree assault. Detective Sgt. Rick McNamara said one group was crossing the street and another group piled out of a car. “It sounds like there was a disagreement, words were exchanged … ,” McNamara said of the incident outside the establishment on the 500 block of North Market Boulevard. Gustavo A. Casimiro Gomez, 25, Chehalis, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to McNamara. A 27-year-old Centralia man, Victor A. Ponce Ramirez, was arrested for misdemeanor assault, and then released. Five others, all in the same age group, were cited for disorderly conduct.

Elderly woman’s handgun missing

• The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office took a report on Friday that an 84-year-old Tenino-area woman was missing her .357 Taurus snub-nosed revolver. The woman’s son told a deputy he gave his mother the aluminum-colored handgun about two years ago so she could carry it with her when she went on walks. He said that on his recent regular visit to her home on the 17,000 block of Johnson Creek Road, he noticed the weapon was not in its box where it belonged. He said he was not sure if it was missing or just misplaced, sheriff’s Lt. Chris Mealy said this morning.

Freezer raided overnight in Rochester

• An estimated $150 of “quick-fix” microwavable food items were discovered missing from a large freezer in a back room of a Rochester area home, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said this morning. The report was made Wednesday after the discovery of the theft. Sheriff’s Lt. Chris Mealy said the resident woke up about 1:30 a.m. last Monday to their dogs barking and growling. A initial quick search of the home on the 18,100 block of Applegate Street Southwest and yard turned up nothing, but on Wednesday, the victim contacted the sheriff’s office upon realizing the items were gone.

Four gumball machines taken in Rochester burglary

• The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning that four gum ball vending machines were stolen in a burglary on the 17,400 block of Moon Road Southwest in Rochester. Sometime between about 2 a.m. last Tuesday and 2 a.m. the next day, somebody broke the door lock to a storage building and removed the items. The loss was estimated at $150.

Man jailed after meth found during traffic stop

• A traffic stop, a suspended driver’s license and then a search led to the arrest Sunday evening of a Winlock man for possession of methamphetamine. A deputy contacted Ronald I. Kinswa, 41, on the 900 block of Byham Road, Winlock and discovered a small ziplock bag of a white crystal substance which tested positive for meth, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Kinswa was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

Dirty texting to minor alleged

• A Glenoma man was arrested Sunday following an investigation into reportedly sexually explicit text messages being sent to an underage girl. The messages were received between November and May to the female, who was described only as younger than 18. Shawn J. Pelletier, 27, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for communication with a minor for immoral purposes, according to Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Chief Criminal Deputy Gene Seiber.

Marijuana found at school dance

• A 15-year-old boy was arrested at a dance at Centralia High School for possession of marijuana on Friday night, according to the Centralia Police Department. Sgt. Carl Buster said this morning it was a small amount of marijuana and the arrest came after the school resource officer noticed something not quite right about the teen during a conversation at the event on the 800 block of Eshom Road. Buster said he couldn’t confirm if the boy was a student or not. The un-named juvenile was released after his arrest, according to police.

INTRUDER LEAVES GRAFFITI

• Police called it a “kind of scary set of circumstances” when a Centralia man returned home after being gone for just one hour yesterday to discover somebody had entered his basement and left what he described to an officer as gang-style graffiti – the words “brown pride”. Police Sgt. Stacy Denham said it happened just before 10 a.m. yesterday on the 400 block of N. Rock Street. The resident, in his 40s, had been working in the basement of his new residence and left to get something to eat, Denham said. Upon his return, he founds the words scrawled on a support beam with a felt tipped marker, the sergeant said. The phrase is something Denham said he’s seen before as graffiti, usually associated with Hispanic gangs. He has also seen tattoos with the same words, he said.

OFFICERS SUMMONED TO BAR

• Centralia police were called about 9:20 p.m. last night to a downtown drinking establishment after a customer allegedly got angry and punched out a bathroom window. Anthony C. Elkins, 59, of Centralia, was cited for third-degree malicious mischief and then released, according to police. The incident occurred at an unspecified bar on the 100 block of South Tower Avenue. Police Sgt. Stacy Denham indicated Elkins’ injuries from the glass were not overly serious.

BOOKED FOR DOMESTIC INCIDENT; SHOVING

• Alcohol and an argument over not taking the dogs out for a bathroom break led to a shove and a man arrested for fourth-degree assault; domestic violence yesterday evening from a home on Southwest McFadden Avenue in Chehalis, according to a report made to police. William A. Johnson, 49, was booked into the Lewis County Jail after the 7 p.m. call from the woman who lives at the house, according to Chehalis police Sgt. Rick McNamara. Johnson was released from jail this morning, according to the Lewis County Jail.

ARGUMENT OVER WEAPON IN HOME LEADS TO ARREST

• Chehalis police called to a verbal dispute at a residence on the 100 block of Fifth Street in Chehalis yesterday ended up arresting a man for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Sgt. Rick McNamara said the couple had been arguing about him having a handgun in the house. Colin A. McCalmon, 50, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to McNamara.

THEFT FROM BARN

• Deputies are investigating the theft of more than $14,000 of power tools and other items from a barn outside Chehalis, including a green ATV. Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Cmdr. Steve Aust said this morning the break in took place almost two weeks ago on the 1400 block of N.W. Airport Road. Among the items missing sometime between 4 p.m. on May 21 and 2 p.m. the following day were were a compressor, a jack hammer, a planer and three drills, Aust said. Also taken was a four-wheeler – an Arctic Cat 650, he said.
