DRUGS

• An individual arrested for an outstanding warrant about 9:40 p.m. yesterday at the 100 block of Conifer Lane in Toledo was further arrested after a strip search at the Lewis County Jail turned up a small bag of prescription medications. Lake Gregson, 28, Toledo, was booked for introducing contraband to a correctional facility, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• A 29-year-old Olympia resident was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after being detained for a shoplifting incident reported about 3:15 p.m. yesterday at the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia. Desarae L. Reynolds was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARM

• Deputies called for a potentially suicidal person at the 100 block of Guerrier Road about 9:50 p.m. yesterday subsequently arrested a 53-year-old Tacoma man wanted on a warrant for rape out of Pierce County. David W. Love is ineligible to possess firearms so he was arrested for both the warrant and for unlawful possession of a firearm, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

UNRULY VISITOR

• Centralia police called just before 7 p.m. yesterday to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road arrested a 38-year-old Centralia woman for for interfering with a healthcare facility. Trisha A. Carpenter, 38, of Centralia was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

INTRUDER

• Chehalis police were called about 2:40 p.m. yesterday to a building at the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard where a door had been kicked in. Nothing appeared to be missing, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FRAUD

• Centralia police were called about 4:20 p.m. yesterday by an individual at the 800 block of North Pearl Street who reported someone used her debit card without her permission, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• A tablet was stolen in a vehicle prowl at the 400 block of West Main Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 3:40 p.m. yesterday.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were called to the 300 block of West Main Street about 4:50 p.m. yesterday where someone had broken out the window of a parked motor home.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A pickup truck driver was seriously injured this morning in a collision on southbound Interstate 5 near Labree Road. Authorities say the truck rolled and caught fire. The Chehalis Fire Department responding about 4:30 a.m. discovered an off-duty Seattle firefighter was on the scene helping the driver, Firefighter Jay Birley said. Another collision in the same area in the northbound lanes drew firefighters from Lewis County Fire District 5, 6 and Riverside Fire Authority, according to Birley. Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn tweeted later in the morning the southbound lanes were closed, and a portion of the jersey barrier had been shoved into the northbound lane.

GUNS TAKEN IN HOME BURGLARY

• A deputy called to a residence at the 700 block of state Route 7 in Morton about 3:20 p.m. on Friday learned that three firearms and other valuables had been stolen. The victims arrived home and saw a window had been broken out,  according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Among the missing guns are a Taurus .44 magnum revolver, according to the sheriff’s office.

GAME MISSING FROM HOME

• Chehalis police were called to the 400 block of Southwest William Avenue about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday where an individual reported the theft of a Xbox and related items.

ASSAULT

• Aaron W. Martin, 52, of Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for burglary and felony order violation when he allegedly entered the residence of a female that had a protection order against him and assaulted her at the 400 block of North Oak Street in Centralia, according to a report made to the Centralia Police Department about 4:35 p.m. on Saturday.

BUSINESS BURGLED

• A deputy arriving about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday to investigate a burglary to a building at the 1500 block of Bishop Road in Chehalis learned a gun-metal gray CO2 pistol was missing from a desk drawer and a surveillance system stolen. Damaged was a cash register drawer and a door jamb, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The break-in occurred sometime after 5:30 p.m. on Friday, according to the sheriff’s office.

• Chehalis police were called to the 2100 block of North National Avenue about 12:45 p.m. on Saturday to take a report of a break-in to a storage locker. The Chehalis Police Department is awaiting a list of the items stolen.

• Someone shattered a back door to a store with a rock at the 2700 block of Jackson Highway in Chehalis and stole about $200 from a cash register, according to a report made about 7:15 a.m. on Friday to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Someone broke into a company trailer at a construction site at the 3900 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia sometime between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on Friday and stole a chainsaw and a laser level, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

FAMILY WATERCRAFT STOLEN

• Centralia police called about 10:45 a.m. yesterday to take a report associated with the 100 block of North Oak Street concluded a 14-year-old boy had stolen his mother’s kayaks and sold them online. He was arrested and booked into Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for theft and trafficking in stolen property, according to the Centralia Police Department.

RV STOLEN

• A $10,000 Kiwi travel trailer with tent pop-outs was reported missing yesterday from the 600 block of Silverbrook Road in Randle, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

VEHICLE THEFT

• A 28-year-old man reported he was watching television about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday when he heard his vehicle start up, then he opened the door and saw his truck heading south away from the 1600 block of Bishop Road in Chehalis. Stolen is a 1977 Ford F150 silver with dark gray truck, with a black tool box and tinted windows, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

FRAUD

• An individual reported about 11:20 a.m. on Saturday that someone opened a Verizon cell phone account in his name using his identity, in a case associated with the 900 block of South Gold Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Timothy M. Baloga, 46, of Centralia was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for identity theft and a warrant following a traffic stop for speeding about 8:40 a.m. on Saturday at the 900 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department. He allegedly  identified himself with his brother’s information. Upon further questioning and investigation his true identity was uncovered, according to police.

• A 36-year-old resident of Pe Ell was arrested for a warrant, making a false statement and resisting arrest after initially giving Chehalis police a false name after he was contacted around 2 p.m. on Saturday on South Market Boulevard. Louie J. Muller was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

DRUGS

• A 47-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after contact with police about 2:50 a.m. today at the 700 block of Harrison Avenue. Nina L. Eklund was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 22-year-old Centralia resident arrested about 12:30 p.m. yesterday on a warrant at the 600 block of West Main Street was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Jody L. Forga was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 31-year-old Winlock resident was arrested for an outstanding warrant and then for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act after being contacted by a sheriff’s deputy about 11:50 a.m. on Friday in the area of Backstrom and Coma roads in Winlock. Evan S. Kranz allegedly had tin foil in a coat pocket, and a brown tar-like substance field-tested positive for heroin, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Kranz was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

BAD BILL

• Centralia police were called just before 5 p.m. yesterday to the 1200 block of Mellen Street because a counterfeit $100 bill had been passed at a gas station.

SPRINKLERS SAVE CASA RAMOS

• A Centralia restaurant sustained light heat and smoke damage in its kitchen from a small fire found burning on the floor around a large natural gas burner, according to Riverside Fire Authority. Crews called because of smoke just before midnight on Saturday to the 900 block of Harrison Avenue had to force their way into the building which was closed, according to the fire department. The main fire had been controlled with the hood sprinkler system, Fire Capt. Tim Adolphsen stated.

• A 54-year-old Chehalis resident was reportedly uninjured when he totaled his car last night but a deputy smelled the odor of intoxicants so the man was arrested for driving under the influence. A deputy arriving about 8:45 p.m. to the intersection of Highway 603 and Devereese Road learned the 2005 Ford Taurus had run a stop sign and hit a gate, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. John P. Rothlin was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

TEEN ASSAULTED

• Centralia police called just after 9 p.m. yesterday to the 2800 block of Russell Road learned that two males, one juvenile and one adult, assaulted a 14-year-old boy who sustained minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

UNRULY UNMATES

• Chehalis police were called over the Green Hill School about 9:25 a.m. yesterday to investigate an incident in which a student-inmate allegedly hit a staff member and also threw urine under the door of his quarters. The episode from Jan. 25 led to a referral to prosecutors for charges of custodial assault plus felony harassment, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The 18-year-old suspect remains at the juvenile detention facility.

• An inmate at the Lewis County Jail who allegedly threw a phone damaging a $1,500 kiosk yesterday was booked on a fresh offense of second-degree malicious mischief, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy was called about 9 p.m. yesterday to investigate and watched video footage showing the incident, according to the sheriff’s office. Jevon J.M. • Police were called about 9:10 a.m. yesterday for a burglary at the 700 block of Harrison Avenue. Forced entry was made through a back window, according to the Centralia Police Department. Cash and the camera system were stolen, according to police.

• A 1998 Nissan 200SX was reported stolen about 1:45 p.m. yesterday from the 2400 block of Borst Avenue in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called about 6:45 p.m. yesterday to the 500 block of South Tower Avenue where someone had tried to pass a check in which the payee had been whited out and changed.

• Centralia police were called to the 200 block of West Main Street about 10 a.m. yesterday regarding a check deposited several months ago was being returned as altered.

SUSPECTED INTRUDER INTO ELDERLY WOMAN’S HOME JAILED

• A 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday following witnesses identifying him as the person seen on security video inside an 85-year-old Winlock woman’s home while she was sleeping. Devin K. Lang was contacted at his residence in Ethel just after 6 a.m. yesterday and booked into the Lewis County Jail for residential burglary, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey said the investigation began when deputies were called just before 7 o’clock on Thursday to the 200 block of Nikula Road in Winlock. The woman’s family members had set up surveillance video in her home and were reviewing the footage when they saw a person walking around inside the home, through the kitchen, the living room and into the bedroom where the victim was sleeping. They observed the person put something in his pocket before leaving out the door, Kimsey said. Deputies discovered entry had been made through  a bathroom window, according to the sheriff’s office. Kimsey said the family members, but not the victim, knew the suspect.

PROSECUTORS: CHILD TOSSED OVER COUCH

• A 41-year-old man arrested last night for allegedly pulling his ex-girlfriend’s feet out from under her as she was walking up stairs to her Centralia apartment was also arrested for allegedly assaulting his 12-year-old daughter in a previous incident. Gunner J. Genzel was charged today in Lewis County Superior Court with third-degree assault of a child and fourth-degree assault. His bail was set at $50,000. Charging documents in the case state a deputy was called just after 8 p.m. yesterday for a dispute at the 2000 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia. His former girlfriend said she was trying to get her apartment key back from him when he grabbed her feet causing her to slam into the steps, the documents relate. She asked her two children to call 911. During questioning, the deputy learned of an episode that happened earlier this month at the same location. The ex-girlfriend and Genzel’s daughter stated he had grabbed the daughter around her neck, dragged her inside the apartment and tossed her over the couch onto the floor, according to the allegations. His arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 8.

DANGEROUS WEAPON AT SCHOOL

• Chehalis police were called about 11:15 a.m. yesterday to the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street to investigate a report a student had brass knuckles on school grounds. The case regarding the 15-year-old boy is being referred to prosecutors for a possible charge of possession of a dangerous weapon, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FRAUD

• Chehalis police were called about 12:50 p.m. yesterday by a woman who reported someone had made deposits into her bank account and withdrawn them the following day without her permission, in a case associated with the 400 block of North Market Boulevard.

ALCOHOL HAUL

• Chehalis police were contacted about 3:50 p.m. yesterday by a business on the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard to take a report of a theft a few days prior in which someone stole $1,100 worth of liquor.

DRUGS

• A 35-year-old homeless woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after a sheriff’s detective recognized her as someone he wanted to talk with, as she was riding a BMX bicycle about 10:40 a.m. yesterday at Harrison Avenue near the Interstate 5 onramp. She was arrested and bag inside her pocket contained a needle and a bag containing suspected meth, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Sherri L. Scott was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called about 9:30 a.m. yesterday to the 300 block of West Pine Street where someone had damaged the ignition on a car in a possible attempt to steal it.

• A window on a vehicle parked at the 300 block of South Iron Street in Centralia was broken, according to  report made to police about 5:10 p.m. yesterday.

• Centralia police were called just before 10 a.m. yesterday regarding graffiti tagged on a fence in an alley near the 1300 block of Oxford Avenue.

FROM THE COURTHOUSE

• An 18-year-old student-inmate from Green Hill School in Chehalis accused of sexual assault of his cell mate was brought before a judge today in Lewis County Superior Court. Andrew E. Umino was charged late last year with second-degree rape for an incident investigated by Chehalis police in September. The 19-year-old roommate told police that four days earlier after lights out, Umino got angry, pushed him into a corner and began hitting him, according to court documents. He said Umino told him to suck on his penis or he would beat him, the documents relate. Afterward, he said if he told anyone, he would kill him, Lewis County Senior Deputy Prosecutor Will Halstead wrote in the charging documents. Umino was released back to Green Hill School following this afternoon’s hearing. His arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 8.

• Arrest warrants were issued yesterday for a father and son who were allegedly unlawfully growing marijuana plants at a Curtis Hill Road property. Joseph A. Watson, 59, and Derek J. Watson, 30, were summonsed to appear yesterday afternoon in Lewis County Superior Court based on charges of manufacture of marijuana which were filed earlier this month. They didn’t show up, according to prosecutors. Charging documents in the case state that Joseph Watson arrived home to find deputies there on Oct. 4 and told them he believed the law said they could grow four plants on the property without getting into trouble. He said he had about 20 plants. The deputies seized 23 plants. Deputy Sgt. Dan Riordan spoke with the son on the phone, and the son told Riordan that Riordan was wrong about the laws, Lewis County Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Brad Meagher wrote in charging documents. Neither suspect had valid medical marijuana authorization, according to Meagher.

• A 19-year-old Centralia resident was arrested after police were called about 7:15 p.m. yesterday to the 500 block of West Center Street in Centralia because he had allegedly attempted to enter a home to look for a place to sleep. Michael W. Severance was found to be under the influence and resisted arrest, according to the Centralia Police Department. Severance was booked into the Lewis County Jail for malicious mischief and criminal trespass, according to police.

BURGLARY

• Police were called about 10 a.m. yesterday to the 800 block of South Street where an individual reported that sometime over the weekend someone broke into the residence and stole jewelry, money and cosmetics.

VEHICLE THEFT

• Centralia police were called about 11:30 a.m. yesterday to take a report that a blue 1971 Ford F250 truck, was stolen from the 500 block of Jackson Street sometime during the previous week. It has a license plate reading C92923H, according to the Centralia Police Department.

FRAUD

• Centralia police were called about 10 a.m. on Friday to the 1300 block of South Gold Street and began investigating the possible theft of checks which had been altered and passed.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Police were called to the 100 block of North King Street in Centralia about 11:35 a.m. on Friday where an individual reported sometime during the night last weekend, someone removed his LED light bar and other LED lighting off his vehicle.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A 20-year-old Chehalis resident was arrested for hit and run after he allegedly ran a stop sign and struck another vehicle about 12:20 p.m. yesterday at Plum and Iron streets in Centralia. Police say Jonathan J. Garcilazo Lucht, and his two passengers fled on foot but were later located. Deago G. Perez, 18, of Chehalis was arrested for outstanding warrants and Jamie A.M. Bismuti, 19, of Centralia was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, according to the Centralia Police Department. All three were also arrested for criminal trespass and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

• Chehalis police on Friday afternoon said the reason for the attempted traffic stop that led to W.F. West High School getting locked down for a few minutes was because of speeding through the 20th Street school zone. It began around 10:20 a.m. on Friday and the white Nissan Murano reportedly fled northbound on Market Boulevard and then turned left onto 17th Street, which dead ends at the high school parking lot. One of the four occupants jumped out and ran off, according to police. The driver, 18-year-old Reina Martinez, from Centralia, was arrested for eluding and for possession of a stolen vehicle, according to police. The remaining two people were released from the scene.
