FIRE AT WOOD MILL

• Firefighters in Onalaska extinguished a blaze at Alexanders Mill yesterday in a drying shed. Lewis County Fire District 1 was called at 11:23 a.m. to the 1600 block of state Route 508 and found flames from a piece of equipment had ignited the roof rafters, according to Chief Mark Conner. The damage was minor, he said.

MAYFIELD CABIN DESTROYED IN BLAZE

• The cause of a fire that gutted a small vacation cabin at Mayfield Lake on Friday night is still under investigation. Approximately 25 firefighters from two departments responded to the 7:27 p.m. call to the 100 block of Tanglewood Drive. Lewis County Fire District 8 Assistant Chief Don Taylor said as they prepared to attack the fire the entire structure became involved with flames. It was an unoccupied dwelling which had recently been refurbished, he said. Taylor said it was especially challenging because of the narrow road and driveway. While the area has fire hydrants, the fire department doesn’t use them because the system is unreliable, he said. They filled tenders with water from Mayfield Lake and fortunately it was a small house so they didn’t need much water, he said.

CHIMNEY FIRE IN RANDLE

• A resident on the 400 block of Cline Road in Randle used a garden hose to put out a chimney fire on Friday. Fire Investigator Ted McCarty said flames got into the attic a bit but caused minimal damage.

MAN TRASHES APARTMENT, SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning a 44-year-old Chehalis man was arrested after allegedly getting angry at his girlfriend and causing more than $2,000 damage to her Centralia area apartment. Michael T. Taylor was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree malicious mischief domestic violence very early yesterday, according to the sheriff’s office.

MORTON MAN BEATEN IN CHEHALIS

• Chehalis police were called just after 2 a.m. Saturday to the 500 block of North Market Street where a 25-year-old Morton man said he as beaten by two males. The victim was apparently punched and kicked and had lumps and bumps on his head, but didn’t want aid or to pursue making a report with arriving officers, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

COUNTY TRUCK TAKEN FROM FAIRGROUNDS

• A Lewis County work truck was stolen from the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds sometime between Wednesday and Friday, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. Somebody got into a shop and took the 1990 GMC truck as well as a 250-foot spool of cable, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown. The area was searched and both were found down the road along the railroad tracks, Brown said.

CAMPER BREAK-IN

• Somebody broke into a camper on the 100 block of Hadaller Road outside Mossyrock and stole hunting knives, two-way radios, binoculars, a GPS device, a 13-inch television and a bottle of Crown Royal, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy called Friday afternoon to take a report learned it happened sometime between Nov. 7 and Friday. The loss was estimated at $750, according to the sheriff’s office.

RIDING MOWER MISSING

• Centralia police took a report late Saturday afternoon of a theft of a black Craftman riding lawnmower from a shed on the 2400 block of North Pearl Street. Also missing was a hedge trimmer, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR PROWLS

• Chehalis police were called Saturday morning at 7:43 a.m. and again at 8:01 a.m. about vehicle prowls on Airport Road.

• An i-Pod and jacket were stolen from a vehicle on the 200 block of Latona Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police on Saturday morning.

• A Centralia police officer took a report about 9 a.m. on Saturday of a vehicle prowl on the 800 block of South Pearl Street in which a stereo was stolen, according to police.

• CDs and other items were missing after a vehicle prowl on the 1000 South Pearl Street, according to a report made to police just after 6 a.m. on Saturday morning.

• On Friday morning, an officer was called to a car prowl on the 300 block of East Magnolia Street in which a window was smashed out and a stereo and other items stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A Comcast cable box was reported missing from an unlocked vehicle on the 1200 block of H Street in Centralia, according to a report made about 7:15 a.m. on Friday to police.

FIRE DEPARTMENT RESCUES DOG IN WELL

• The Salkum area fire chief offered praise for his people today after a successful rescue last week of a dog from the bottom of a well he estimated was as much as 65 feet deep. Lewis County Fire District 8 was called Wednesday afternoon to the residence on U.S. Highway 12 near Leonard Road when the yellow Labrador’s owner discovered it had fallen into the old well. The department doesn’t have equipment to conduct such a rescue, but one of the members took the handle off his salmon net and tied a rope to it, Chief Dave DeBuhr said. He said the animal seemed to relax when he was caught by the net. The dog was tired, cold and wet and had probably been down there at least a couple of hours, DeBuhr said. “I give kudos to all my people, they are great innovators and thinkers,” he said.

TWO HONDA CARS STOLEN IN TWO DAYS

• A red 1993 Honda Civic was stolen from the Mellen Street Park and Ride in Centralia sometime between 5:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. yesterday, according to the Centralia Police Department. Police describe it as a two-door, with an “off” colored red rear bumper and a license plate reading 106 TLI.

• Sometime between 10 p.m. on Wednesday and 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, a black 1996 Honda Civic was taken from the 2800 block of Russell Road in Centralia, according to police. The two-door car is slightly lowered with tinted windows and white wheel rims, according to the Centralia Police Department. It bears a license plate of 849 WZQ.

DRUG ARREST

• Centralia police reported yesterday they arrested Justin J. Woodhead, 28, no hometown noted, for possession of heroin and an outstanding warrant. He was booked after his contact with an officer about 3 p.m. Wednesday at Harrison and Belmont avenues.

MAN HIT BY VEHICLE NEAR WAL-MART

• Chehalis police were called at 3:13 p.m. yesterday to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident on Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way. The 61-year-old man was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Chehalis Fire Department.

VADER WOMAN WRECKS HER HONDA

• A 20-year-old Vader woman was hospitalized last night after her car struck a jersey barrier between Interstate 5 and and westbound state Route 432 near Longview. A trooper called just after 10 p.m. reported that Samantha J. Frisbie was taken by ambulance to St. John Medical Center in Longview with chest and neck pain. Her 1990 Honda accord was totaled, according to the Washington State Patrol. The investigating trooper noted Frisbie was traveling too fast and failed to negotiate the curve.

CAR KNOCKS CHEHALIS MAN’S BIG RIG OVER, PATROL SAYS

• The Washington State Patrol reported a Chehalis man’s tractor-trailer rig rolled and jack-knifed when a passenger car pulled in front of it on state Route 7 in south Pierce County yesterday. John R. Harrold, 46, of Chehalis, was northbound in his 2007 Kenworth when a 2009 Ford Focus pulled out from Ohop Valley Road and ran into the truck’s second trailer, according to the state patrol. A trooper called about 11:15 a.m. to the scene indicated Harrold was uninjured and his truck sustained an estimated $4,000 damage. The car was totaled and its 21-year-old female driver, from Eatonville, was treated at the scene, according to the trooper.

BEAR ON THE RUN

• There have been a couple of sightings recently of a bear in Chehalis but so far it hasn’t caused any trouble, according to Chehalis police. Detective Sgt. Rick McNamara said they have contacted personnel from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife and “they’re aware of it.” Police were called just after 5 p.m. on Friday when somebody said they saw a large black bear running toward a strip mall and shortly after that, somebody spotted it near the senior center on North National Avenue.

VEHICLE VERSUS POLE

• Centralia police arrested a 57-year-old man for driving under the influence after he reportedly crashed into a telephone pole yesterday morning at East Walnut and South Gold streets. Allan L. Rounsley of Centralia was also cited for hit and run because he left the scene, according to the Centralia Police Department.

HOSPITAL HOOLIGANS

• Police were called Monday night to the emergency room at Providence Centralia Hospital after a patient reportedly damaged a wheelchair in anger for not being seen quickly enough. Officers attempted to locate the man, but were unsuccessful, according to the Centralia Police Department. However, police say they know who their suspect is and will be referring reports to the city prosecutor for a charge of malicious mischief.

• On Saturday night, an intoxicated patient reportedly assaulted two staff members of the emergency room at Providence Centralia Hospital, according to Centralia police.

ASSAULT IN NAPAVINE

• A 21-year-old Napavine man was arrested for second-degree assault early Saturday morning after police were called to his home. Ray D. Teafatiller and his wife had been out with friends, some of whom were present when a dispute erupted at the couple’s home on West Washington, according to the Napavine Police Department. At one point, he reportedly took her to the floor and obstructed her breathing, according to officer Silas Elwood. Teafatiller was booked into the Lewis County Jail after the 12:30 a.m. call.

NIGHT TIME VISITORS BASH ON DOOR, PICKUP TRUCK

• A 73-year-old Winlock area woman called 911 after somebody banging on her front door after dark did so with such force it broke the lock. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported yesterday a deputy who arrived after the call at 10:40 p.m. on Monday on the 100 block of Pleasant Valley Road found a window smashed out of her pickup truck parked outside. At 12:43 a.m., she called again after she saw a flashlight at the door, yelled and then heard people outside. No arrests were made.

SEINOR CENTER THEFT

• A woman at the Packwood Senior Center turned her back on a teenager who came in asking for help with gas money to get home to Bellingham and then discovered he had helped himself to an envelope on her desk with $81 in deposits, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It happened about 1:40 p.m. on Monday, according to the sheriff’s office. A deputy made a traffic stop a short time later and arrested Michael J.A. Nunez of Aberdeen for third-degree theft.

MORE THEFTS

• Chehalis police were called just after 7 p.m. on Sunday to an apartment complex on the 200 block of Chehalis Avenue about theft of about $2,000 from the manger.

• A resident in the process of moving out from an apartment on the 500 block of Ash Street called Centralia police Monday evening after discovering a surround-sound system and DVD player were stolen.

• Chehalis police were called early Monday morning about a back door kicked in at a building on Market Boulevard.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help to find a long blond-haired man with a yellow Labrador who made off with a basket of tips and candy from an Onalaska coffee stand on Friday. A deputy called to the Carlisle Avenue establishment reported the man was wearing a blue jean jacket and blue jeans

THROWING ROCKS, EGGS AND BREAKING WINDOWS

• Centralia police were called on Saturday to the 2800 block of Russell Road where somebody had thrown a rock through a car window and hung a pumpkin on their front door. Minutes later, an officer was called to a report of a rock being thrown through the window of a house on the 100 block of Jalyn Street.

• Chehalis police were called Sunday about a window being broken out of a car on Washington Avenue.

• Chehalis police were called to the drug and alcohol treatment center on the 500 block of Southeast Washington on Friday about somebody from the apartment complex across the street throwing eggs at employees.

CAR PROWLS

• Police responded to a vehicle prowl Tuesday morning on the 500 block of West Seventh Street in Centralia.

• Chehalis police were called early Monday about a vehicle prowl on Southeast Washington Avenue.

• Centralia police were called to the 1200 block of Alder Street Sunday morning and took a report of the theft of an estimated $6,000 of camera equipment and a GPS device from a vehicle.

• Numerous CDs were reported missing after a vehicle prowl reported Sunday on the 600 block of Jefferson Street in Centralia.

WRECK IN EAST COUNTY

• Deputies were called early Saturday morning to the scene of a wreck on Skate Creek Road South in east Lewis County and found a Ford F350 pickup truck but no occupants. The truck appeared to have left the road at a sweeping curve without braking, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, a 41-year-old man from Roy, was located later and told a deputy he may have fallen asleep, the sheriff’s office reported.

MISSING HUNTER FINDS OWN WAY

• A 21-year-old hunter from Vancouver was located wet and cold but uninjured about 11 p.m. on Saturday after being lost outside Mossyrock. His partner, a 50-year-old from Battleground, called 911 about 8 p.m. after searching for the young man who failed to meet back up as planned, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy who met up with the 50-year-old at Salmon Creek and Longbell roads reported the 21-year-old said he got lost, followed a logging road to Longbell Road where he got a ride back to camp from a passing motorist. The hunter had only his riffle and pistol with him, according to the sheriff’s office.

MAN INJURES SELF WITH KNIFE

• Police and aid were called to a stab wound victim about 9 p.m. last night on South Tower Avenue in Centralia. The Centralia Police Department said it was self-inflicted and not an accident. Responders from Riverside Fire Authority initiated advanced care and a rapid transport to Providence Centralia Hospital, according to fire Capt. Casey McCarthy. He expected the adult male would be transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

FARM EQUIPMENT MISSING

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported yesterday that a $28,000 bailer was stolen from the 800 block of Oyler Road in Onalaska. Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said the red and yellow New Holland model 570 bailer was last seen two weeks ago. She is asking anyone with information on the piece of farm machinery to call Lewis County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-748-6422 or call 911.

BURGLARY IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police responded to a burglary yesterday morning on the 500 block of East Main Street. Missing from a residence was a television, a computer and money, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ARREST FOR ASSAULT

• Somebody heard yelling coming from a Centralia motel room drawing police officers who arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly choking his girlfriend on Wednesday. Jeffrey J. Lucas of Centralia, was arrested and booked for second-degree assault after the approximately 11 a.m. call to the Motel 6 on the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue, according to Centralia police. Officer John Panco said a little bindle of methamphetamine was found in Lucas’s possession. The victim, a woman in her late 30s from the local area, was seen by medics but not seriously injured enough to be hospitalized, according to Panco.

• Chehalis police were called about 1:15 p.m. on Thursday to Northwest Park Street and told a male broke a window on a vehicle and took something.

POLICE SUSPECT DUMBBELL AS MURDER WEAPON IN TENINO WOMAN’S DEATH

MARIJUANA ARREST

• A traffic stop in Chehalis last night led to a find of about 100 grams of suspected marijuana and an arrest for an 18-year-old Centralia man. Sawyer R. Chase, 18, was contacted by an officer about 10 p.m. in a parking lot at Northwest Center Street and then he was booked into the Lewis County Jail for conspiracy to deliver marijuana, according to detective Sgt. Rick McNamara.

GRANDPA LEAVES TEEN ON ROADSIDE, THEN ARRESTED FOR DUI

• A dispute in which a 62-year-old man reportedly dropped his 14-year-old granddaughter off the side of Gore Road and drove away last night ended with the grandfather being arrested for driving under the influence. Paul N. Gardner, of Spanaway, was arrested after the approximately 9:40 p.m. incident, according to  the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

DAD TURNS IN DAUGHTER FOR DRINKING

• A 14-year-old girl who came home after drinking vodka near Mineral Lake was brought to a sheriff’s deputy in Morton last night for a breathalyzer test, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The teenager was booked into the juvenile detention center.

DAMAGED CARS ON F STREET

• Centralia police reported three vehicles and three garbage cans were damaged on the 800 block of F Street overnight. An officer was called about 4:40 a.m. to a report that two males in a vehicle were grabbing garbage cans and dragging them down the street, according to the Centralia Police Department.

WRECK IN CHEHALIS

• A 17-year-old driver was hospitalized after a wreck yesterday morning in which her Sport Utility Vehicle jumped a levee at Northwest Airport Road and Florida Avenue and struck a tree, according to authorities. A 21-year-old passenger was reportedly unhurt.

WOMAN WIELDS KITCHEN KNIVES, SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS

• A woman was arrested for second-degree assault after she allegedly armed herself with five large kitchen knives during a dispute with a 55-year-old Chehalis man. A deputy was called to the 500 block of Pleasant Valley Road on Sunday and learned the man restrained her and he was not injured. Harriette R. Hager was booked into the Lewis County Jail, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday.

SCARING WOMAN WITH GUNSHOTS

• A 45-year-old Winlock man was arrested for reckless endangerment after he reportedly fired three gunshots in a woman’s direction following a dispute about him elk watching off Fischer Road on Sunday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Ronald J. Waller was booked into the Lewis County Jail, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

MAN ASSAULTS CHILD, GIRLFRIEND, POLICE SAY

• A 35-year-old Centralia man was jailed Sunday after he allegedly grabbed a 4-year-old by the back of the neck and then back-handed his girlfriend. An officer was called about 11:35 a.m. to the 100 block of West Third Street in Centralia. Jeffrey A. Church was booked for fourth-degree assault domestic violence, according to the Centralia Police Department.

PRIZE SCAM HITS WINLOCK WOMAN

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday a 71-year-old Winlock woman was defrauded out of $700 by a bogus prize offer from something called Winners International Network, connected with “872” and “876” area codes. A deputy took a report on Friday and learned the woman had been enticed into wiring money to secure her winnings of watches and a new Mercedes, according to the sheriff’s office. Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown cautions the public not to call those area codes as expensive international toll charges can apply. Anyone who is contacted by someone making a suspicious offer is urged to call the sheriff’s office, she said.

ANOTHER ARREST IN MOSSY CHIEF BURGLARY

• A 17-year-old girl was arrested for taking part in the burglary that left Mossyrock interim Police Chief Jeremy Stamper without two silver badges and other items, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday. Deputies recovered the broken Tazer gun and even some items the victims didn’t know were missing like a diamond ring, according to the sheriff’s office. Twenty-year-old Jeremy R. Elliott was arrested last Thursday and admitted to taking weapons and some other valuables in the burglary but denied having the women’s hair accessories, underclothes, badges and police uniform shirt stolen from the home on 300 block of Bear Ridge Road. The badges and shirt are still missing.

GUN STOLEN

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday that a Ruger pistol, a Nikon camera with two lenses and a laptop computer were taken from the 100 block of Blue Bonnet Lane in Randle. A deputy who took a report on Friday learned the theft occurred sometime during the previous six weeks while the victim was out of state, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

FRAUDS REPORTED

• Centralia police took a report on Monday of an apparent fraud in which the victim’s credit card was used for an inmate phone program. The investigation is ongoing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police took a report from the 500 block of East Magnolia Street on Thursday about somebody using somebody else’s credit card without permission.

BURGLARIES AND THEFTS

• Two rifle cases and a coin collection were among the items stolen from  the 100 block of Priest Road in the Morton area, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown reported on Monday that somebody removed the items sometime between Oct. 22 and last Friday.

• Centralia police were called Sunday evening to the 600 block of South Iron Street where someone had ransacked a residence and taken DVDs, a game system and games. The front door was forced open, police reported.

• Centralia police were called about 4:45 p.m. on Sunday to the 400 block of South Gold Street about a stranger found inside the resident’s garage when they returned home. The male ran off and was not found, according to police.

• A sheriff’s deputy’s hat that was being embroidered at the the 1000 block of West Main Street in Centralia was stolen from the counter, according to a report made to Centralia police on Friday morning.

• Chehalis police took a report last Friday afternoon of the theft of a boat motor from First Street.

• Chehalis police were called last Thursday to a building on Southwest Chehalis Avenue where somebody broke in and stole copper wire.

CAR PROWLS

• Chehalis police were called Monday about a vehicle prowl on the 500 block of North Market Street.

• Centralia police were called about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday to the 400 block of South Buckner Street where someone caught two people inside a vehicle. They stole 100 CDs before they took off running, according to police. Not long after, an officer took a report of the theft of a stereo from a vehicle on the 100 block. Police believe the two thefts are related.

• Chehalis police were called Saturday to Southwest Third Street about two vehicles being broken into during the night.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a vehicle prowl on the 100 block of Baker Drive near Mossyrock that occurred sometime between Saturday and Sunday.

• Somebody broke a vehicle window on the 1200 block of Lum Road in Centralia and stole a leather Coach purse, an iPhone and a Canon digital camera, according to a report made Thursday to the Centralia Police Department

• A 24-year-old Centralia woman and a juvenile accomplice were arrested for vehicle prowl in Centralia on Thursday night. Police reported somebody smashed a car window and took a stereo and iPod. Laura L. Hickey was the adult arrested. The identity of her partner was not reported by police because the individual is a juvenile.

VANDALISM

• A Centralia man was arrested for third-degree malicious mischief for allegedly slashing a tire on his neighbors truck. Donald L. Earls, 46, was cited Sunday morning and then released, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police took a report Monday evening on the 1200 block of Royal Avenue that the rear window of a vehicle had been broken out.

• Chehalis police took a report of vandalism to a business vehicle last Thursday on the 2500 block of North National Avenue.

TRACTOR RUNS OVER MAN

• Mossyrock area firefighters were called last Thursday afternoon after a tractor ran over a man. Lewis County Fire District 3 Chief Matt Hadaller said the call came just before 4 p.m. to the 500 block of Young Road. The 71-year-old man’s son was in the house, heard him yell and ran outside, Hadaller said. The patient was airlifted from the high school football field to St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, according to Hadaller.

UNRULY WOMEN ARRESTED FOLLOWING FEUD WITH BARTENDER

• Two women were arrested last night after a tiff with a Centralia bartender over giving up their drinks at closing time, according to police. An officer called just before 2 a.m. to the Tower Tavern was told the pair were made to leave but stood outside the South Tower Avenue business pounding on the door and being disorderly. After Heike Uhlig, 41, of Seattle was put in the back of a patrol car, she reportedly kicked at the head of an officer trying to close the door, Centralia Police Department Officer John Panco said. Uhlig was arrested for attempted third-degree assault. Her companion, Beatriz Villaba-Velasquez, 34, also of Seattle, was arrested for fourth-degree assault as she had allegedly shoved the bartender, according to Panco.

POLICE BADGES, GUNS STOLEN

• Two Mossyrock police department badges were reported stolen in a burglary, along with guns and several other items, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. Also missing from the home on the 300 block of Bear Ridge Road in Mossyrock were two .22 caliber revolvers, a .22 rifle, a broken Tazer gun, a police uniform shirt and women’s hair accessories, underclothes, coats and prescription medication, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown. The 33-year-old victim called the sheriff’s office on Tuesday and said somebody had come into the home she was moving out from sometime between Friday and Monday, Brown said. The sheriff’s office has a suspect in mind, according to Brown.

MAN PAWNS ROOMMATE’S STUFF, SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS

• A Centralia man was arrested yesterday for first-degree trafficking in stolen property after he allegedly pawning items belonging to a former roommate. Kevin K. Trudeau, 23, was booked into jail after the victim found her belongings. They had been sold to a business called Legends Video on South Tower Avenue in Centralia, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. What was stolen and its value was not reported by the sheriff’s office.

SAFE STOLEN

• An antique safe is apparently missing following a burglary to an unoccupied residence on the 1100 block of Eckerson Road in Centralia. At least one door had been kicked in, according to a summary of the police report from yesterday.

UTILITY TRAILER TAKEN

• A black dump trailer was reported stolen from a fenced area on the 400 block of South Silver Street in Centralia, according to a report made yesterday morning to police. It has the words “Little Dumper” on its side, according to police.

• Centralia police took a vehicle prowl report yesterday from the 1100 block of West Chestnut Street. Tools were taken overnight from a pickup truck, according to a summary of the police report.

CAR VERSUS SCHOOL BUS

• Lewis County Fire District 3 responded to a collision between a car and a school bus about noontime yesterday north of Mossyrock. Fire Chief Matt Hadaller said it happened on the 100 block of Kjesbu Road. There were about nine younger grade school-age children on the bus and they were unhurt, according to Hadaller. The bus driver was sore but okay and the young man driving the car had minor cuts, he said. The sheriff’s office reported that Abraham H. Snodgrass, 19, of Mossyrock, came around a corner in the bus’s lane of travel and hit the bus. Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said Snodgrass was to be cited for negligent driving.

MISSING HUNTER, MUSHROOM PICKER FOUND

• A sheriff’s deputy used lights and sirens to guide a lost hunter out of the woods near Doty over the weekend, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said yesterday a 39-year-old Rochester man failed to meet back up with his hunting companion at dark on Sunday evening. They were in the area between Lincoln Creek Road and Doty, she said. The sheriff’s office was called just after 9:30 and the man, whose name was not reported, was found about 11:15 p.m. on the 550 Road, across from where he had been, according to Brown. He was wet and cold but otherwise okay, she said.

• The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office reported today that after several hours of searching on Sunday for a missing mushroom picker in the Elk Creek area just west of Pe Ell they discovered the missing man was located in Chehalis. Authorities were notified about 5:50 p.m. on Saturday a 42-year-old man had gotten separated from his group. An effort that included individuals from Pacific, Lewis, Thurston and three other counties on Sunday included vehicle patrols dog teams and foot searches, according to a news release. After several hours, they concluded he must have left the wooded area and as they were planning for the next day, the sheriff’s office got word he was found by Chehalis police, according to the news release. The man, whose identity was not reported, was described as being in good health and without injury, the news release stated.

BICYCLIST ARRESTED WITH DRUGS, POLICE SAY

• A Centralia man riding a bicycle without a headlamp last night was stopped by a police officer and subsequently found to be in possession of methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana, according to the Centralia Police Department. Christian D. Brown, 23, was booked into the Lewis County Jail after his contact with an officer about midnight on the 600 block of Harrison Avenue, according to police.

MAN FIRES GUN INTO DITCH, GETS ARRESTED

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported yesterday an 18-year-old man was arrested for malicious harassment for allegedly firing two rounds from a .22 rifle to scare people on Saturday. A deputy called just after 5 p.m. took a report of a dispute earlier in the day involving a Toledo man and neighbors. When it was over, Dillen Marshall, 18, the son of one of the parties involved, reportedly drove to the other person’s address, peeled out damaging a fence and fired two shot into a ditch. Marshall was booked for harassment and also malicious mischief, according to Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown.

BURGLARIES

• Centralia police took a report of a flat screen TV stolen from a residence on the 800 block of North Pearl Street on Sunday.

• A resident of the 200 block of Skate Creek Road reported a burglary on Saturday in which more than $3,000 of valuables were taken, including a .45 caliber pistol, two shotguns, a rifle, computer equipment and Black Hills gold jewelry. Also stolen while the victim was working out of town was a 1990 Geo Metro, but it was recovered by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s office.

• Centralia police were called about a burglary to a business on the 100 block of West Walnut Street on Saturday morning.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported yesterday that somebody broke into a vacant house and several outbuildings on the 200 block of Carroll Road south of Chehalis. The report made on Thursday noted that several hasps were broken.

• Chehalis police were called about a vehicle missing from an impound yard on Saturday morning.

• Centralia police were called about the theft of a van from the 500 block of North Tower Avenue on Friday afternoon. The missing vehicle is a metallic blue 1990 Plymouth Voyager with a Washington license plate.

• A backpack, CD player and other items were reported stolen from an unlocked  vehicle on the 300 block of East Chestnut Street in Centralia yesterday, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called about 7:40 a.m. on Sunday after a male allegedly smashed a windshield and fled in a vehicle from the 400 block of West Main Street.

• Chehalis police were called Monday about tires on a vehicle being slashed.

• Centralia police were called just before midnight on Saturday to the 100 block of South Tower Avenue where a woman said her ex-boyfriend slashed her car tires while she was at one of the local clubs.

CAR VERSUS DEER

• Centralia police were called just before 6:30 p.m. yesterday about a car and deer collision on the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road.
