NO CAT BURGLAR FOUND

• Chehalis police were called just before 1 o’clock this morning to the Twin City Town Center where a worker discovered someone tried to break in through the roof. The individual was putting away the parking lot sweeper when they looked up and saw evidence someone tried to gain entry into that portion of the building, according to the Chehalis Police Department. A police dog helped conduct a sweep of the area at the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue but nobody was found, according to police. It was just two weeks earlier when McDonald’s on Lum Road in Centralia was burglarized by someone who cut a hole in the roof to get inside.

BUSINESS BURGLARY

• Chehalis police were called yesterday morning to a hardware store on the 700 block of South Market Boulevard where someone broke into a fenced area overnight an stole a gray fountain. The loss is listed at $692.99, according to the Chehalis Police Department. A similar break-in happened there a week earlier.

MONEY MISSING

• A Centralia resident in his mid 70s reported to police yesterday that an unauthorized person removed more than $1,000 from his bank account, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called to a nursing home on the 1500 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia yesterday to talk with a man in his 90s regarding cash stolen from him.

BAD BILL BUYS GAS

• Chehalis police were called about 10 o’clock last night when a clerk on Northwest State Avenue discovered a customer used a counterfeit $50 to pay for fuel and a scratch ticket.

FRAUD

• Centralia police were called yesterday to the 900 block of Schueber Road regarding an individual reportedly using the name of a family member to get medical care from Providence Centralia Hospital.

CAR PROWL

• Centralia police were called just before 8 o’clock yesterday morning about someone rifling through an unlocked vehicle at the 2400 block of Leisure Lane. Nothing appeared to be missing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ASSAULT

• Centralia police were called yesterday afternoon to take a report of a sexual assault involving juveniles said to have taken place a week earlier. Further details were not readily available.

BARK FIRE

• Chehalis firefighters were called about 6:50 p.m. yesterday to extinguish a beauty bark fire in the landscaping along the 1500 block of North National Avenue. It was most likely caused by a cigarette, according to the Chehalis Fire Department.

CHEHALIS TRUCK THEFT SUSPECT CHASED TO MORTON

• Chehalis police responded to a 4 a.m. alarm at an auto dealership on Sunday morning and discovered someone had used their vehicle to smash out the glass doors to the showroom. An individual had gone inside Titus-Will and grabbed several keys and tried them until they found one that worked, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Missing was a 2012 Dodge pickup truck, which was spotted leaving the area of the 2500 block of North National Avenue by another responding officer, police said. A police pursuit ensued that took them, along with a Centralia police officer, all the way to Morton, via Centralia-Alpha Road, according to detective Sgt. Gary WIlson. The officer temporarily lost sight of the stolen truck in town, but it wasn’t long before it was located at the Chevron station, where its driver was attempting to fuel up, Wilson said. A Morton officer joined them just before 4:30 a.m. and they took Brian A. Fortune, 29, of Chehalis, into custody. Fortune was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, eluding and, possession of methamphetamine, according to police.

POSSESSION OF STOLEN VEHICLE: MAYBE, MAYBE NOT

• A 32-year-old man was arrested after a deputy traveling through Vader checked a license plate on a parked car and discovered it was stolen out of Federal Way. The deputy contacted the individual believed to have parked the 2001 Nissan Maxima at the 100 block of Spring Court at about 2:20 a.m. yesterday and booked him into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree possession of stolen property, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Glen A. Harmon had just moved from Federal Way to Vader a week earlier, according to the sheriff’s office. He is to be released without charges pending further investigation.

SUCKERED IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police took a report on Saturday evening from an individual who said two people offered to fix dents in their vehicle while they shopped at the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue, and paid them, but didn’t get what they expected. When the victim returned, there was makeup and bingo blotter ink spread on the car, according to the Centralia Police Department.

PILFERING IN CHEHALIS

• Chehalis police were contacted about 12:20 p.m. on Friday by an individual who reported a small metal tool box was stolen from their unlocked garage on Southwest 21st Street. Also missing was a solar-powered glass globe from the patio, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Centralia police were called about 5:30 a.m. yesterday to the 1100 block of South Pearl Street where someone during the night broke into a car and stole its stereo, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were contacted yesterday by an individual who said that while they were parked in a downtown city parking lot the night before, someone prowled their vehicle and stole items including at least one purse.

• A 51-year-old Longview painter contacted law enforcement on Saturday morning after discovering someone broke into his work van while it was parked overnight at the Shell station on the 100 block of Mulford Road outside Toledo. Someone pried open a door and stole two paint sprayers – one a Graco 395 and the other a Titan – a buffer, a sander and two extension cords sometime after 4 p.m. on Friday and before 10 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The loss is estimated at $2,600, according to the sheriff’s office.

VANDALISM

• An officer responded to the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia after a 6 p.m. report yesterday someone damaged a motel room.

• A 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly breaking a windshield during a dispute on Saturday evening at Haviland Street and Lum Road in Centralia. Brandon D. Genin, from Marysville, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

AND, FROM MORTON

• A dispute between two boat owners was reported in the 200 block of Westlake Avenue at 10 p.m. on Friday. Parties were arguing over one of them driving too close to the other boat while parking, according to the Morton Police Department. Officers encouraged those involved to park across the parking lot from one another, police reported.

• A motorist who fled an attempted traffic stop on Davis Lake Road in Morton around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday hasn’t been found, according to the Morton Police Department. The vehicle was later located unoccupied on a nearby logging road, but the driver is wanted for reckless driving, according to police.

NOT A SPRAY PARK, NOT AN OUTDOOR SHOWER

• Chehalis police were called about 8 o’clock on Sunday morning about a male in his underwear taking a bath in the fountain in front of the library off Northeast Park Street. He actually was wearing jogging shorts, but was told what he was doing wasn’t appropriate, according to the Chehalis Police Department. There was no soap involved, police said.

FAIL

• Two Glenoma residents were hurt during a driving lesson when the driver accidentally hit the wrong pedal on Glenoma Road late yesterday afternoon. The 58-year-old student driver, who was not licensed, suffered a possible fractured jaw and her boyfriend a possible broken arm, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy responding about 6:20 p.m. to Morton General Hospital was told by the 55-year-old passenger that his girlfriend got nervous and he told her to hit the brakes but she hit the gas instead, and both grabbed the steering wheel in an attempt to miss a tree, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said. They ran into a small ditch and struck an alder tree, Brown said. The 1997 Geo Prizm was described as totaled. The woman was cited for no valid operators license, according to the sheriff’s office.

DUI WRECK

• A 25-year-old Centralia man was injured in a single-vehicle accident on the northbound viaduct on South Gold Street in Centralia on Saturday night. Riverside Fire Authority reports it responded at 9:50 p.m. where airbags had deployed but the occupant had serious injuries and suspected internal injuries. He was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital, according to the fire department. Police report they responded at 8:52 p.m. and cited Aurelio Almontes Barboza, for driving under the influence.

MOTORCYCLIST AIRLIFTED

• Firefighters responded about 10:40 a.m. today to a wreck between a small motorcycle and a car at South Pearl and Cherry streets. The 64-year-old man operating the motorcycle was transported to Harborview Medical Center by medical helicopter for possible internal injuries, according to Riverside Fire Authority. Centralia police indicated the man had been ejected and described his injuries as non-life threatening. The driver of the other vehicle was issued a notice of infraction for failure to yield the right of way, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called to the 1900 block of Trillium Lane yesterday afternoon where a 36-foot travel trailer had been stolen.

HANDBAG MISSING

• Police were called about 8 p.m. yesterday about a purse stolen from a home on the 500 block of Woodland Avenue in Centralia.

MOWER MISSING

• Chehalis police were called to a hardware store on Thursday afternoon where someone had forced their way into a chain link-fenced area and taken a silver push mower. The loss from the 700 block of South Market Boulevard is listed at $350, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FLOWERS TAKEN

• Someone stole baskets of hanging flowers at the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue, according to a report made to police about 9 p.m. on Thursday.

FRAUD

Centralia police took a report yesterday morning of suspected credit card fraud at a store on the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia.

WANTED MAN PICKED UP AT PARK

• Several officers from the state patrol, the sheriff’s office and Centralia surrounded an area at Rotary Riverside Park off Harrison Avenue in Centralia on Thursday night after a wanted person ran into the woods after being spotted by police. Just as a K-9 team was being deployed, the individual gave himself up, according to the Centralia Police Department. Marcus E. Prince, 42 of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for outstanding warrants, according to police.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police took a report around 3 o’clock yesterday morning that an unknown person broke a window at a business on the 600 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia.

ATV RIDER BUSTED

• Centralia police issued a citation to Ryan L. Patterson, 34, from Ethel, on Thursday afternoon because he didn’t pull over right away when a police car signaled the driver of the ATV to stop. It was just after 1 p.m. at Ham Hill Road and Gold Street when the officer finally contacted Patterson, according to the Centralia Police Department. While its unlawful to ride a quad on city streets, the ticket given was for failing to stop and give information, according to police.

THREATS

• Centralia police were called to the 500 block of South Oak Street about 11:10 p.m. yesterday where they learned from a 72-year-old resident that his former tenant-roommate had threatened to beat him up and break all the windows out of his house. Police said Randy J. Toups, 52, was upset because his belongings had been thrown out. Toups was arrested for misdemeanor harassment and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

BREAK-INS

• Police responded to an alarm at 5:45 a.m. today at a business on Southwest 13th Street in Chehalis where they found a door and a window open. Some dental floss was knocked over, but it wasn’t yet clear what, if anything, might be missing, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• An officer was called to Southwest Interstate Avenue in Chehalis about 6:40 a.m. today regarding items taken from a vehicle during the night.

DRUGS

• Chehalis police were called yesterday by a woman who said someone else picked up her prescription pain medication at a pharmacy on the 1200 block of Louisiana Avenue. The case is under investigation, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Chehalis police responded yesterday evening to a report of a person trespassing in a vacant building at Duffy Street and Oregon Way and ended up arresting a 25-year-old Chehalis resident for possession of methamphetamine. An officer found small bag of white crystal, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Drake A. Lorber was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police took a report overnight of someone spray painting orange lettering onto a house on the 400 block of South Street. it appears to be gang-style graffiti, according to the Centralia Police Department.

KITCHEN FIRE

• Firefighters were called at 9 p.m. yesterday to the 1100 block of West Main Street in Centralia where a pan of cooking oil left on the stove unattended caught fire. The occupant was able to put it out before the fire department arrived, according to Riverside Fire Authority. A crew used fans to remove the smoke from the residence. The minor damage was confined to the stove and the pan, according to the fire department.

DRIVER RESCUED FROM UNDER TRUCK

• A motorist ejected from his vehicle when it rolled off the road overnight found himself trapped beneath the engine compartment, according to Lewis County FIre District 3. “It was a difficult extrication,” Fire Chief Doug Fosburg said. The pickup landed maybe eight feet off the road onto a rock on an embankment, and on its top, Fosburg said. The vehicle was teetering somewhat, but its full weight was kept off the victim by surrounding trees, he said. Firefighters called about 1:40 a.m. to the 200 block of Isbell Road in Mossyrock had to get a tow truck to lift the truck up, according to the chief. The man, 31 years old from Mossyrock, was taken to Morton General Hospital. The 2006 Ford F350 was totaled. A deputy referred the case for a charge of first-degree negligent driving, and infractions of driving too fast for conditions and no seat belt, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

DRUGS

• A 51-year-old woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance when a police officer was called to the office of the state Department of Corrections yesterday morning at the Lewis County Mall. A white crystal substance had been located and Rita F. Masters, from Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

DRUGS SEIZED FROM MOTEL ROOM

• Centralia Police Department’s special Anti-Crime Team found suspected heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, digital scales, cash and a pistol when they searched a motel room yesterday at the 1000 block of Eckerson Road in Centralia. Officers arrested Terry S. Dunivin, 32, of Centralia, on an outstanding warrant and then served a search warrant on his room, according to the Centralia Police Department. Dunivin was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.

AUTO THEFT ARREST

• Deputies yesterday arrested the man they believe stole a van from Borovec Road in Chehalis last week and drove it a quarter of a mile away, prowling it for its tools and then abandoning it. Images captured on security cameras showed a partial license plate of the red car the subject drove away in, which was used to narrow down the search, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. That and witness identification of the person shown on the security images led to William J. Larson, 42, of Centralia, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said. The more than $2,000 worth of tools missing have not been recovered, according to Brown. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail, she said.

THEFT

• Police were contacted yesterday about the theft of packages from a front porch on the 1000 block of West Cherry Street in Centralia.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports this morning that someone stole six traffic advisory signs and their stands from U.S. Highway 12 in Packwood which belong to a Kennewick company. It happened last Tuesday night and the loss is $2,000, according to the sheriff’s office.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police took a report yesterday of gang-style graffiti on the roof of a building on the 1300 block of Lum Road.

• Centralia police took a report yesterday morning of a window broken out a building on the 600 block of H. Street.

COLLISION

• A Honda Accord was totaled last night when a semi truck crossed the lane line and hit it on Interstate 5 at Chehalis, causing the car to strike the concrete center barrier and guard rail and come to rest facing the wrong direction. Troopers called at 10:30 p.m. to the northbound lanes near the Chamber of Commerce Way interchange report the 39-year-old truck driver from Clackamas, Oregon, was unhurt. But the car’s driver, Zachary S. Amos, 32, of Centralia, and his passenger Lisa J., Bravo, 24, of Clinton, were transported to Providence Centralia Hospital with injuries, according to the Washington State Patrol. The fire department said its understanding was nobody was hurt or taken to the hospital. A hospital spokesperson said Amos was treated and released, but they had no record of a person with the last name of Bravo. The truck driver was cited for improper lane travel, according to the state patrol.

PARTY CRASHED BY THE LAW

• Deputies, police and troopers broke up an underage party at a campsite at the 700 block of state Route 7 near Morton over the weekend and contacted 17 juveniles whose cases will be referred for charges of minor in possession of alcohol, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Several attendees ran off into the woods when law enforcement arrived about 1:10 a.m. on Saturday according to the sheriff’s office. Those who were under 18 had to call their parents, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said. The youth were from Mossyrock, Morton, Glenoma and Randle, Brown said.

TEACHER FINDS BOOZE AT SCHOOL

• The case of a 16-year-old boy reportedly caught with a bottle of liquor at W.F. West High School on Friday will be referred  for charges of minor in possession of alcohol, according to the Chehalis Police Department. An officer was called about 10:40 a.m. after the alcohol was found by a teacher, according to police.

OUT-OF-CONTROL BOYFRIEND

• A 34-year-old man was arrested after deputies were called to a dispute about 11:50 p.m. on Saturday at the 100 block of Brady Lane in Winlock. Phillip L. Ray had reportedly threatened to jump out of a moving car on the freeway on the way home from dinner with his girlfriend and then the argument continued at home, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were told Ray called their dog to him and kicked her twice in the stomach and then threw items including a television remote at his girlfriend. He had left out the backdoor before law enforcement arrived, but was found behind the residence smoking a cigarette, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree animal cruelty, third-degree malicious mischief and fourth-degree assault, according to Brown.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

• Morton police arrested Jordan M. Gillispie, 24, last night for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, according to the Morton Police Department. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail and then charged today in Lewis County Superior Court with second-degree assault. The Morton resident’s bail was set at $10,000. Judge James Lawler signed that order that prohibits Gillispie from consuming any alcohol if he gets out of jail.

THEFT

• Police were called about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday to the 900 block of South Schueber Road in Centralia about a stolen wheelchair. There has a been a suspect identified and the case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An $850 Schubert brand helmet vanished from its resting place on a motorcycle while its owner slept in a  tent nearby over the weekend. It happened between midnight on Sunday and 10 o’clock the following morning at the Iron Creek Campground in East Lewis County, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

VANDALISM

• Police were called at 6 a.m. on Sunday to take a report of window being broken out of a business on the 700 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia.

• Centralia police responded to a 1:10 p.m. call yesterday a the 800 block of South Gold Street regarding damage to the window of a vehicle.

NOT VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were called about 10 p.m. yesterday by someone who reported vandalism at W.F West High School, with toilet paper and spray paint all over the school. It wasn’t, according to police. It was celebratory decorating that included a large rock set aside to get painted on, according to detective Sgt. Gary Wilson.

STRANGER IN SHED

• A 35-year-old man was arrested about 9:15 p.m. on Friday after a neighbor along the 1200 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia reported seeing a person in a shed. Ian E. Roe, described by police as transient, was cited for trespassing and then booked into the Lewis County Jail for a warrant from Olympia Municipal Court, according to the Centralia Police Department.

STRANGERS NEXT DOOR

• Officers were dispatched to a report of intruders at a residence in the 100 block of First Street in Morton on Thursday afternoon, but it turned out the home just had new renters, according to the Morton Police Department.

COLLISIONS

• Mikail A. Bullock, 25, of Chehalis, was reportedly uninjured but his car sustained major damage when he wrecked it in a ditch at about 10 p.m. on Friday at the 2200 block of Rice Road outside Chehalis. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail for driving under the influence, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• A 43-year-old Ashford resident said he fell asleep before he collided head-on with a tree at milepost 3 on Skate Creek Road North outside of Packwood on Saturday afternoon. His Ford F250 was totaled and he was transported to a hospital with a bump on his head and other injuries, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was cited for wheels off the roadway, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said.
