SMASH AND GRAB

• An officer responding to an alarm at 4:30 a.m. yesterday at a convenience store on the 100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia found someone had smashed out the front door glass and stolen numerous items. The case was referred to detectives for follow up, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Deputies responding to an alarm just after 3:30 a.m. yesterday at a gas station on the 100 block of Mulford Road outside Toledo arrived to find the front glass door broken and merchandise on the ground. Surveillance video showed two males entering the business and then removing items, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The loss is estimated at $1,500 but a list is still being investigated, according to the sheriff’s office. The damage to the door is listed at $1,000, Cmdr. Dusty Breen said. The intruders were wearing dark jackets, blue jeans and gloves and their faves were covered, according to Breen.

RESIDENTIAL THEFT CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called about 8:30 a.m. yesterday a house on the 600 block of Lakeshore Drive to take a report of a burglary. The victims called police after noticing a container full of coins and a wallet was missing from their bedroom, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Someone stole a package from the front of a residence on the 700 block of G Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 1:20 p.m. on Friday.

RESIDENTIAL THEFT CHEHALIS

• Police were called about 6:15 p.m. on Saturday to a location on Southeast Washington Avenue in Chehalis about possible stolen checks. The case is under investigation, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

FARM THEFT

• Sometime in the two weeks before Friday, someone stole a large spool of irrigation hose plus two large sprinkler heads from the 100 block of Donahoe Road outside Chehalis. The loss is listed at $4,000, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

AUTO THEFT

• A 48-year-old Centralia man observed by an officer driving a stolen vehicle yesterday about 10:30 a.m. at the 1700 block of Hillview Road in Centralia was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle as well as possession of methamphetamine. Kelly O. Moran was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• An officer was called just after 5 o’clock yesterday morning to the 500 block of Northeast Washington Avenue in Chehalis following the discovery someone stole a tool box from the back of a parked truck.

• Chehalis police were called about 7 p.m. on Saturday regarding a vehicle prowl at the 100 block of North Market Boulevard. Taken was a cell phone left on the front seat of the unlocked vehicle, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Police were called to the 2800 block of Russell Road in Centralia on Saturday about an overnight vehicle prowl. A radio was taken from the pickup truck, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ASSAULTS

• A 20-year-old woman getting picked up for a warrant at about 8:40 p.m. on Saturday at the 700 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia allegedly kicked an officer as she was resisting arrest. Eternity R.E. Bock, of Centralia, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 22-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for fourth-degree assault after allegedly pepper spraying an individual during a fight at the 200 block of Railroad Avenue in Centralia on Saturday evening. Officers responding about 6:15 p.m. the altercation in front of the train station arrested Tyler A. Reeves, issued him his citation and then released him, according to the Centralia Police Department. A 17-year-old boy involved allegedly tried to physically block an officer from going into the public entrance of an apartment complex, according to police. A case for the teen will be referred to juvenile prosecutors for obstructing, according to police.

DRUGS

• A 19-year-old motorist contacted last night at 11 p.m. on North Gold Street in Centralia was cited for a “trip permit” violation as well as being in possession of marijuana. Police arrested, issued the citation and then released Quinn M. Rector of Chehalis, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 35-year-old Chehalis woman was arrested around 1:10 a.m.  yesterday following contact with an officer at the park and ride lot on the 800 block of West Main Avenue in Chehalis. Inside the vehicle in plain view were suspected drug-related items, including suspected heroin and methamphetamine, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Jennifer R. Brown was arrested for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, according to police.

• A 26-year-old Chehalis woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and an outstanding warrant after contact with police just after 8 p.m. on Friday at the 700 block of M Street in Centralia. Alisha A Holmes was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

SUSPICIOUS FIRE

• Detectives were asked to determine if a fire that damaged the exterior of a building in Centralia on Saturday evening was arson or just reckless burning. An officer called about 6:45 p.m. to the 400 block of Centralia College Boulevard reported a neighbor saw flames and smoke and extinguished them before anyone arrived, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Chehalis police were called about 8:25 p.m. on Friday to the 1000 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue where someone had slashed tires on a parked vehicle.

ON THE ROAD

• The driver of a Ford Expedition was issued citations for failing to yield to pedestrian and not having insurance after she struck a shopping cart being pushed by an individual and also a child in the parking lot at Wal-Mart at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Aid and police responding to the scene at the entrance to the store on  Northwest Louisiana Avenue report the 4-year-old fell to the ground and sustained scrapes. The child was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. The driver said she didn’t see them because the sun was in her eyes, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 23-year-old Centralia man was arrested early yesterday morning after allegedly driving into a parked vehicle at the 700 block of South Pearl Street in Centralia and then leaving the scene. An officer responding about 2:15 a.m. booked Bret R. Baker into the Lewis County Jail for driving under the influence and third-degree driving with a suspended license as well as hit and run, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 34-year-old man from Camas is listed in fair condition this morning after an incident on Friday evening in which an allegedly intoxicated driver struck his car on Interstate 5 about three miles south of Tumwater. Troopers responding about 7:25 p.m. to the southbound lanes near milepost 93 report Michael J. Hartung’s disabled Honda Civic was parked on the shoulder when 26-year-old Tyler M. Pendleton’s southbound Subaru drifted to the right, according to the Washington State Patrol. The victim had been standing in front of his car with the hood up, West Thurston Regional Fire Authority Chief Robert Scott said. Hartung was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. The state patrol said his 27-year-old passenger was also injured, but Scott said she just rode along in the ambulance with her friend. The state patrol also reported Pendleton was injured, though Scott said that wasn’t his understanding. Pendleton, from Olympia, is facing a possible charge of driving under the influence, according to the state patrol. Both cars were totaled.

• One student on a school bus playing with a lighter and a leaking aerosol can of deodorant belonging to another student came together on Friday afternoon and ended with a flaming backpack being pushed out the window of the bus. It happened about 1:15 p.m. on Friday along the 100 block of Hewett Road outside Chehalis, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy reports one student sustained a minor finger burn and the case is being referred to juvenile prosecutors for a possible charge of reckless burning. The kids initially tried to put out the fire but weren’t able to, according to the sheriff’s office.

VEHICLE STOLEN FROM CHURCH LOT

• A white 1995 Ford Ranger was reported stolen out of a church parking lot in Centralia at about 8:30 p.m. yesterday. The truck, missing from the 1200 block of Belmont Avenue, has a white canopy, according to the Centralia Police Department.

MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS MISSING FROM SCHOOL

• Police were called to Chehalis Middle School yesterday to take a report that five flutes were stolen from its music room last week. The loss is listed at $250, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

ARRAY OF APPAREL THEFTS

• Police took a report yesterday afternoon of clothing stolen from a laundry business at the 500 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia.

• Someone stole articles of Seahawks clothing from a vehicle at the 1100 block of West First Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 5 p.m. yesterday.

• Centralia police were called about a vehicle prowl about 5:15 p.m. yesterday at the 1500 block of North Scheuber Road. Clothes bags were taken, according to the Centralia Police Department.

INAPPROPRIATE CONTACT

• A 31-year-old Castle Rock woman was arrested in Centralia yesterday for first-degree custodial sexual misconduct. Police say the case involved Kristina A. Auckland, a state Department of Corrections employee, and a 33-year-old offender “having relations.” Auckland was interviewed at the police department and then booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 30-year-old Chehalis man who allegedly lunged at an emergency room nurse at Providence Centralia Hospital yesterday was arrested for third-degree assault. Jason R. Ferris was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Police were called to the 500 block of West Cherry Street in Centralia about 4:35 p.m. yesterday regarding a window broken out of a vehicle.

PACKWOOD BURGLARY

• A television and a washer-dryer combination were among the valuables stolen or damaged when someone broke into a residence on the 100 block of Begonia Lane in Packwood. A deputy responding yesterday afternoon learned from the owner, a 46-year-old Gig Harbor resident, a neighbor had notified him it looked like the front door was forced open, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The burglary occurred sometime since Oct. 3, according to the sherif’s office. A list of what’s missing has not yet been complied, Cmdr. Dusty Breen said this morning.

SHOPPING SEASON ADVICE

• Centralia police were called just after 8 o’clock last night to take a report from a woman whose purse was snatched from her shopping cart at the Goodwill store at the 500 block of Harrison Avenue. Centralia Police Department Sgt. Kurt Reichert said he highly recommends if someone stows their purse in their cart, that they don’t turn their back or walk away from it. Even better, he said, keep it on your person.

OTHER THEFT

• Chehalis police were called about 2:40 p.m. yesterday to a credit union on South Market Boulevard regarding a fraudulent check.

• Police were called about 12:40 a.m. today to Northeast Cascade Avenue in Chehalis where a pair of motorized bicycles were stolen from where they had been chained to a post in the alley.

• A Chehalis man was charged yesterday with possession of a stolen vehicle and with trafficking in stolen property in Lewis County Superior Court. William R. Long was arrested the day before by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. He was allowed to be released on a $20,000 unsecured bond.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARM

• A deputy responding about 11:45 a.m. yesterday to a dispute over a vehicle at the 600 block of Meier Road outside of Winlock ended up arresting a 26-year-old Rochester resident for a warrant, for driving with a suspended license and for unlawful possession of a firearm. Kly B. Meas was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

SPRAY PAINTING ALL OVER

• Chehalis police responded to numerous complaints yesterday of graffiti with black spray paint in various areas of the city. “Random taggings, all over the place,” detective Sgt. Gary Wilson said, saying it was left on buildings and at least one vehicle.

ANIMAL ATTACK

• Chehalis police were called about 11:15 a.m. yesterday after a woman went to the fire station on Jackson Highway following an attack by a dog or dogs that occurred on Southwest 21st Street. Detective Sgt. Gary Wilson said he didn’t know the breed of the animal or the extent of the injuries, but that the incident is under investigation.

ON THE ROAD

• A 56-year-old bicyclist was injured when a white box-style van passing him at the 1200 block of Winlock-Vader Road in Winlock struck him, breaking his left arm yesterday morning. It happened about 8:45 and both were heading northbound, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It was the mirror on the vehicle which hit the man’s arm, according to the sheriff’s office. The victim, from Vader, said the van stopped for a moment and then continued on, Cmdr. Dusty Breen said. He was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital and Breen is asking anyone with any information to call Lewis County Crime Stoppers.

SURVEILLANCE IMAGE MONITORING HELPS CATCH BURGLARS

• Two individuals prowling around a business overnight in the Chehalis Industrial Park were arrested, after an alarm summoned deputies and someone monitoring surveillance images described them as entering multiple buildings. It happened about 1:15 .m. at the 100 block of Habein Road, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Arrested after a short foot pursuit were Suvonie M. Misner, 35, from Portland and James E. Carroll, 42, of Wapato, according to the sheriff’s office. Taken from the business were a jacket, gauze and eye wash, Cmdr. Dusty Breen said. The two were booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary. Carroll was additionally booked for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act as he was found in possession of a pipe with white crystal residue, Breen said.

NO-NAME CUSTOMER WON’T PAY

• An officer was called to the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia at 9 o’clock yesterday morning where a man reportedly refused to pay for his meal. He also refused to give the officer his name, so he was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for obstructing a public servant and third-degree theft, according to the Centralia Police Department.

TRESPASSING

• Centralia police are investigating a discovery that someone was inside a residence on the 700 block of Woodland Avenue and also tampered with its power box. An officer responded to a 7:45 a.m. report about it yesterday.

VANDALISM

• Graffiti was reported yesterday on the wall of a building at the 900 block of South Scheuber Road in Centralia.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY AT PORT

• A deputy responding to an alarm just before 10 p.m. yesterday from a storage building at the 3500 block of Ives Road in Centralia found someone damaged a padlock, got inside but had already fled the premises. The victim is the Port of Centralia and nothing appeared to be missing, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

VEHICLE THEFT

• Someone stole a beige 1984 Toyota van overnight from Northeast Division Street in  Chehalis, according to a report made to police yesterday morning.

• Police called yesterday afternoon about a pickup truck blocking a driveway since Thursday on the 600 block of M Street in Centralia discovered it was stolen from a farm in Rochester, according to the Centralia Police Department. It was returned to is owner, according to police.

FRAUD

• Chehalis police were contacted yesterday by a 26-year-old woman who is in prison and learned that after she left her purse with an individual last year, someone used her EBT card, stealing quite a lot of money. Police are looking into it, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Officers took a report yesterday morning of someone attempting to pass two prescriptions that appeared to be forged at a pharmacy on the 500 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia. The suspect, Krista M. Peterson, 30, was subsequently arrested for prescription forgery, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Chehalis police were called about 9:20 a.m. yesterday to Southwest Chehalis Avenue just south of Main Street about a ca prowl and found four vehicles at a business had been broken into.

VANDALISM

• Centralia police were called about 6:25 p.m. yesterday after a cup of ice was thrown from a moving vehicle which hit another vehicle on the road and broke its headlight near Eshom and Fords Prairie roads. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police took a report yesterday of white spray painted graffiti on a fence at Southwest Chehalis Avenue just south of Main Street. Later in the day, officers were called about tagging at the the 100 block of North Market Boulevard, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• Morton police yesterday reported they forwarded cases for several individuals to prosecutors to review for “appropriate charges” following a late Tuesday night call last week to a loud party at the 100 block of Coleman Road in Mossyrock from which more than two dozen juveniles ran away. Police say they were able to get the youths to come back into the residence for investigation. An unspecified number of them were released to their parents, according to the Morton Police Department.

INTO THE DRINK

• A 27-year-old motorist who allegedly sped away at about 100 mph from a police car that was turning around ended up taking out about 50 feet of guard rail and crashing into a pond last night at the 4700 block of Galvin Road west of Centralia. Luckily his 1998 Dodge Durango landed wheels down and he was able to extricate himself and climb out of the water and up to he road, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It began when a Centralia police officer said the vehicle had passed him at a high rate of speed on Galvin Road, according to the sheriff’s office. A deputy arriving to investigate the approximately 9:40 p.m. wreck issued Jonathan A. Jamerson, of Centralia, a citation for reckless driving and an infraction for no insurance, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said. Jamerson was wet and cold but unhurt, Brown said. His vehicle was totaled.

AUTO THEFT

• A 21-year-old Onalaska resident was arrested after deputies surrounded Eagle Truck Stop on the 100 block of Estep Road in Napavine on Saturday, following a tip he was going to try to sell a stolen Honda car there. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports Jim G. McPherson showed up with the car and was taken into custody. He reportedly admitted he’d stolen the green 1995 Honda Accord a few days earlier from F Street in Centralia and planned to sell it for $150. McPherson was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and attempted trafficking of a stolen vehicle, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said.

• Someone stole a silver 1988 Toyota Camry from the 1000 block of Eckerson Road in Centralia, according to a report made to police just after 7 p.m. yesterday.

BURGLARY

• Centralia police were called to the 1100 block of South Tower Avenue at 1 p.m. yesterday regarding a break-in to a garage in which several bikes and bike parts were taken. Most of the items were recovered a short distance away, according to the Centralia Police Department. The investigation is ongoing.

VEHICLE PROWL

• Police were called about 7:50 p.m. on Saturday about a car prowl at the 300 block of Spruce Street in Centralia. The interior was damaged, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Chehalis police were called about 9:30 a.m. on Friday regarding a vehicle prowl on the 400 block of North Market Boulevard in which the battery was stolen.

SEXAUL ASSAULT

• Centralia police were called about 11:20 p.m. yesterday to take a report of a rape by the victim’s acquaintance in a case associated with a residence on Hillkress Street. The case is under investigation.

OTHER ASSAULT

• Officers called about 6:45 p.m. on Saturday to the 300 block of East State Street in Mossyrock about an assault arrested a 26-year-old man. Anthony M. Westmoreland was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, according to the Morton Police Department.

• A 24-year-old Chehalis-area woman who called 911 to say her boyfriend hit her in the head reportedly resisted arrest, was tased and subsequently arrested for third-degree assault on Saturday morning. A deputy called about 11:50 a.m. to the 100 block of Harold Drive reported Kimberly E. Killian became angry and began to walk away, during the investigation, but had two outstanding warrants, according to the according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Killian allegedly pulled away, began to grab the deputy’s arm and tried to strike him in the head and chest area. The first attempt with a Taser failed and Killian was “escorted to the ground,” where she pulled on the deputy’s uniform, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said. A second deputy arrived and attempted to help detain her, but was unsuccessful until she was tased a second time, Brown said. Killian was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault as one of the deputies was injured, and also for resisting arrest, Brown said.

VANDALISM

• Officers called just after 3 o’clock yesterday morning about a vandalism in progress at the 200 block of East Van Buren Street in Centralia arrived to find a woman’s vehicle with its windshield and headlights broken. Parked in front of the vehicle was her husband, Andrew J. Filer, 26, who allegedly admitted causing the damage because he was angry at her, according to the Centralia Police Department. Filer was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree malicious mischief, according to police.

EXPLOSIVE EXPERTS SUMMONED

• A 91-year-old former logger called the sheriff’s office to let them know as he was packing up to move out of his Toledo-area home, he discovered he had an old box of blasting caps, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded on Saturday morning to the 300 block of Toledo-Vader Road, and were joined by the Washington State Patrol, who disposed of the caps on site, according to the sheriff’s office. The box contained about 50 blasting caps, Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said.

CENTRALIA RESIDENT ASSAULTED BY TRAVELING SALESMAN

• An officer was called at 5:45 p.m. yesterday about an assault by a traveling salesman at the 1400 block of Jensen Avenue in Centralia. The subject was sexually aggressive toward a female customer inside her residence, according to the Centralia Police Department. Earlier this week, Centralia police warned the public to be cautious about door-to-door salespeople and advised that residents should not let them inside. The alert put out by Sgt. Pat Fitzgerald focused on the fact that in the past, officers have found that some of those they contacted had extensive criminal histories and used the job as a ruse to collect personal information for fraudulent purposes later. The incident on Jensen Avenue is under investigation, according to police.

ON THE ROAD

• The driver of a small pickup that collided with a small tree along the 500 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia yesterday was found in cardiac arrest, according to authorities. Rescuers called at 4:20 p.m. to the wreck near Dutch Bros. Coffee stand transported the 67-year-old man to Providence Centralia Hospital, where they were unable to revive him, according to the police and fire departments. Centralia police report the conclusion was the medical incident caused the crash.

• A woman in her 20s was injured when a small passenger car collided with a barrier in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the Harrison Avenue interchange in Centralia last night. Firefighters responding at 10 p.m. reported her condition as stable and that she was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. The male occupant of the car, about her same age, was unhurt, according to Riverside Fire Authority.

FRAUD

• Centralia police were called about 10:45 a.m. yesterday about a counterfeit money order being passed at the 500 block of Harrison Avenue. There has been a suspect identified and the case is still under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

THEFT AT MOTEL

• An officer took a report overnight of the theft of personal items and a television from an empty motel room at the 1000 block of Eckerson Road in Centralia.
