BREAK-IN ATTEMPT
• Centralia police report an officer caught a person attempting to break into a fenced area using bolt cutters at the 1000 block of North Pearl Street at about 7:20 p.m. yesterday. Jarrin A. M. Smalley, 26, of Centralia, was arrested for second-degree burglary and booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.
CAR PROWL
• Police were called about 1:30 p.m. yesterday for a vehicle prowl at the 1100 block of Brotherson Road in Centralia. A stereo and other items were taken, according to the Centralia Police Department.
PURSE PILFERED
• Chehalis police were called to the 200 block of Northwest State Avenue at about 3:10 p.m. yesterday where an individual reported that while she unloaded items into her residence she set her purse outside the door and subsequently discovered money and medication had been taken out of the handbag.
FRAUD
• Chehalis police were contacted just before noon yesterday after an individual brought a check into a bank on the 200 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue purportedly from Publisher’s Clearing house to see if it was authentic. It wasn’t, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
DRUGS
• A 43-year-old Chehalis resident was found asleep inside a vehicle with a meth pipe sitting on his lap last night in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department. An officer responding to the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just before 10 p.m. arrested Frederic J. Lee, for possession of methamphetamine and booked him into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.
