A car came off a tow dolly on Interstate 5 this afternoon and flew over the center barrier striking the top of a car traveling in the opposite direction.

It happened just after 3 p.m. south of Chehalis, just south of the Labree Road interchange, according to authorities.

The passenger in the 2004 Honda CRV was injured and transported to Providence Centralia Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Washington State Patrol and the fire department.

Two others were treated at the scene and then released, Newaukum Valley Fire and Rescue Firefighter Brad Bozarth said.

The wreck is under investigation, according to the state patrol.

The initial information indicates the blue 2007 Honda Civic was on the tow dolly being pulled by a flatbed wrecker headed southbound, when the dolly came loose from the truck.

The Civic left the dolly and hit a southbound Subaru Legacy, driven by a Portland man who was uninjured, according to the state patrol.

The Civic continued across the barrier into the northbound lanes where it struck the CRV. Both Hondas were totaled.

The driver of the CRV, 62-year-old Marie Bolin of Camano Island, was unhurt, the investigating trooper reports. Her passenger Keli C. Bolin, 35, from Portland was hospitalized.

Further information about the driver of the towing truck was not readily available.

Jake Liao- You & your family better get an attorney fast! That is a serious accident. Medical bills will pile up. Don’t talk to the insurance companies or you will get screwed. Let an attorney talk to them.

  2. Robin says:

The idiot driving the “wrecker” was driving very wrecklessly. He was ALL over the road, from the shoulder on one side to the shoulder on the other side, often using the white stripe as his center!!!

My wife Jena Liao was a passenger in the CRV. It is a miracle that this was not worse. This should be investigated and reported to prevent it from occurring in the future. My thanks go to the nurse who happened to be one of the witnesses and helped my unconscious sister in law. Thanks also to the quick flexes of my mother in law, otherwise I would be a widower with three children.
