CHEHALIS – A senior citizen pulled from a house fire in Centralia last night was subsequently pronounced dead at Providence Centralia Hospital, according to authorities.
Crews responding to an 8:15 p.m. call to the two-story residence on the 1300 block of West Main Street arrived to find a “working fire,” according to Riverside Fire Authority.
The 69-year-old woman who was the only occupant at the time was removed and transported to the hospital in critical condition, according to the fire department. In a press release distributed shortly after 1:30 a.m. today, the fire department said she was pronounced dead at the hospital. Her name has not been released.
RFA was assisted by personnel from the Chehalis Fire Department, Lewis County Fire District 6, West Thurston Regional Fire Authority and the Centralia Police Department.
The damage to the home was described as heavy. The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Fire Capt. Scot Weinert.
