VEHICLE THEFT
• Centralia police were called just before 4 a.m. today to the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue where the owner of a trailer had observed someone trying to haul it away with a U-Haul truck. The truck and trailer ended up stuck in a parking lot and the suspected thief fled on foot, according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers observed a punched door lock and broken ignition on the U-Haul and, after further investigation, concluded it was stolen, according to police.
FRAUD
• Centralia police were called about 10:25 a.m. on Saturday by an individual who said her purse had been stolen from her vehicle while it was at the 2000 block of Borst Avenue within the previous few hours. The victim’s credit card had already been fraudulently used by the time she called police, according to the Centralia Police Department.
• Chehalis police were called about 12:45 p.m. on Friday when an 18-year-old woman reported she was notified a check (or checks) she cashed or attempted to cash was stolen, in a case associated with a bank on the 1500 block of South Market Boulevard.
CAR PROWL
• Chehalis police were called about 8:20 a.m. on Sunday when an individual at the 1600 block of Southwest Grandview Avenue said someone broke into their unlocked vehicle.
• Centralia police were called about 10:30 a.m. on Friday to take a report that someone broke into a vehicle at the 2400 block of West Reynolds Avenue and stole Bluetooth headphones.
OTHER THEFT
• Centralia police were called to the 600 block of South Pearl Street just before 10 a.m. on Saturday to take a report that someone had stolen money from coin-operated machines outside a business during the night.
• An individual reported about 2:15 p.m. on Thursday that “items” were taken from his property on the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia.
• A victim reported the theft of a welcome sign from their property at the 600 block of South Iron Street in Centralia at about 12:45 p.m. on Thursday.
ASSAULT
• For an unknown reason, several males assaulted another adult male, Centralia police concluded after being called to the 1200 block Windsor Avenue in Centralia at about 3 a.m. on Friday. The adult male did not want to be a cooperative victim in the case, according to the Centralia Police Department.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY
• Centralia police were called about 8:40 p.m. on Thursday when an individual reported that as he was walking home at the 900 block of South Tower Avenue, a male pulled a handgun and demanded all of the property he had on him. The victim refused to give up his belongings and the suspect fled on foot after a vehicle passed, according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is under investigation.
DRUGS
• A 32-year-old Centralia resident was arrested for inhaling toxic fumes after he was allegedly found “huffing” at the 700 block of South Diamond Street in Centralia at about 7 p.m. on Saturday. Brian D. Fortune was issued the citation and then released, according to the Centralia Police Department.
• When police arrested a 43-year-old man for allegedly stealing merchandise following a call to the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 5 p.m. on Friday, officers reportedly found he was in possession of methamphetamine. James R. Baas, a person without an address, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.
• Centralia police are referring a case for possession of methamphetamine to prosecutors related to a 43-year-old Centralia woman in connection with an approximately 4:40 p.m. Friday incident associated with a location on the 1400 block of Crescent Avenue.
• A 42-year-old Centralia woman arrested for an outstanding warrant at the 600 block of Yew Street in Centralia just before 11 a.m. on Thursday was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine, according to the Centralia Police Department. Misty M. Lopez was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.
VANDALISM
• Centralia police were called to the 800 block of South Tower Avenue about 12:55 p.m. on Sunday where the rear window of a vehicle had been shattered by a beer bottle.
FIRE
• The Chehalis Police Department collected a piece of evidence from a fire on Friday night at the 400 block of Northwest North Street in Chehalis, according to police.
