CHEHALIS – Police are looking for a man who robbed a senior citizen in the parking lot of a Morton grocery store yesterday in broad daylight.
Police were called about 12:30 p.m. to the Country Market where it occurred.
The victim, a Morton resident in his 80s, was not hurt, Morton Police Department Chief Roger Morningstar said.
“Basically, he cornered him in the parking lot, took his wallet and fled in a vehicle,” Morningstar said.
Morningstar said he is hoping someone will recognize the suspect or his car from security images, and will contact police immediately.
The Country Market is the only grocery store in the East Lewis County town, Morningstar said. It sits on the east side of Second Street, the main north-south arterial, just off U.S. Highway 12.
A brief written summary of the incident indicates the suspect asked the victim if he had any money to spare, and when the victim – who was in his car – took his wallet out, the suspect grabbed it and left.
The chief said the suspect’s vehicle is a silver-colored Chevrolet, either a Malibu or Monte Carlo.
The suspect is a white adult male, and was wearing a ball cap and what was described as a blue and white striped shirt.
Morningstar suggested he would also welcome calls from anyone who may have seen something during the time of the incident.

I think every City in Lewis County truly has more to worry about than a stupid flag on a float. If not, then their priorities are messed up.

Although it probably wouldnt stop everyone from mistaking him as a homeless guy all the time instead of a detective. The article was written in chehalis as are all of the others and that’s why the cities name appears there, as it always does regardless of where the crime took place. I would also be hard pressed to find another individual who would mistakenly confuse the Morton Country Market for being located in a town different from it’s namesake…. but stranger things have happened. When dealing in transparent deception and little white lies is policy, i can see where one could get confused though.
The one thing for certain is that this weasel dick is a shitty dresser, and while that seems about par for the course out in east county, he was a bit to bold to be pulling shit like that in his home town and driving a car like that. If you ask me there needs to be some kind of crime against society that he can be charged with for wearing that god awful shirt. it is really upsetting to me and whoever told him it was okay to wear needs to be fucking slapped.
Hmm seems city of Morton has more to worry about than flags on a float.

Why does the article list this as taking place in Chehalis and then states the victim happened to be from Morton. To better reflect accuracy and help us in locating our suspect could you please adjust that to show that it took place in Morton not in Chehalis.

Look closely at his left hand, that looks suspiciously like a gun, that would make this a robbery not a mugging, and I pray that this guy is caught and removed from the street.
