CHEHALIS – A 63-year-old woman told a deputy yesterday she lost a satchel filled with thousands of dollars cash and she was certain it disappeared in Randle.
The bag contained $15,000 to $20,000 in U.S. currency, mostly in $100 bills, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said she lives in Wapato but owns rental property on the 600 block of Silverbrook Road in Randle.
She said she recalled it being in the back of her car and the car being left unlocked while there between Oct. 20 and 31, Breen said.
The woman didn’t realize it was gone until a week or so after returning to Eastern Washington and spent a couple more weeks digging around looking for it, Breen said.
Breen said he didn’t know why she had been carrying so much cash with her.

Yeah, this doesn’t sound right to me, either. I can accept that people carry large amounts of cash with them because they don’t trust the banks (sometimes with good reason), but how can you leave it in an unlocked car for 12 days and go several more days without even noticing that your thousands of dollars are missing? And then waiting a couple more weeks to contact police? This woman is nuttier than a Payday bar.
I totally don’t even know what to say about this. I would not leave $20,000 just laying around unattended. If I had that kind of money I would hire a hitman for a few people 😉
What’s that old saying – “A fool and their money are soon parted”…but I have to agree with Waiting – THAT much money left in an unlocked car…and you don’t notice it’s missing for a week or better??? something smells fishy, and it’s not my fish dinner……….
That’s all you can add to the comment is that there’s a mis spelling? Seems like another cheap attack on the fact the community’s being poisoned and all you care about is a spelling error. Figures
It can lower “your” not “you’re.” You should stop consuming fluoride Peabody slim lol
20,000$ and she is 63? Hell yeah sounds like this women was quite the boss in her younger days.. If it took her a week to notice it often does this lady carry around stacks of cash like that? Crazy.
and the bag contained 15,000 to 20,000 dollars-I am not quite believing this story, unlocked car, not knowing how much money? this is not adding up
Leaving that much money in the back of an unlocked car? Then take weeks to miss it? I wish had that kind of money to lose and not realize it for a while.
Some people do things to increase their chances of being a victim. Sad.
There is no way you can feel sorry for people like this. When you have money you protect it. I use a wallet myself and sometimes carry 10,000 on me but only if I’m spending it soon. Any other time I prefer the bank or my floor mounted safe. People like this are prime examples of over Fluoridation from the city’s water supply. Harvard Studies have proven that Fluoride can lower you’re IQ. Do at least there is an excuse.
