KIDNAP ARREST
• A 38-year-old man was arrested in Centralia for kidnapping yesterday morning in connection with an incident last month in which he allegedly forced a 23-year-old woman he was dating into her truck outside the movie theater on Hampe Way in Chehalis and made her drive to Tacoma. It happened the night of Oct. 8 and Shawn M. Joyner, of Centralia, was just picked up yesterday, according to the Chehalis Police Department. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police. A charge of fourth-degree assault is being referred to prosecutors as well in connection with the event, a department spokesperson said. A white crystal substance confiscated when he was booked will be sent out to be tested, police said. He was charged today in Lewis County Superior Court with second-degree kidnapping, possession of methamphetamine and fourth-degree assault. Bail was set at $50,000 today when he appeared before a judge.
BREAK-IN
• Centralia police were called about 7 o’clock this morning for a residential burglary at the 1200 block of Windsor Avenue. It happened during the night, according to the Centralia Police Department.
• Someone broke into a garage on the 1000 block of Southeast Adams Street in Chehalis and stole a 1985 Honda moped and a vintage 1970 half-cap helmet, according to a report made to police about 4:15 p.m. yesterday.
• Police were called to a home on the 1000 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia just before 2 p.m. yesterday about a burglary. Among the missing items were toiletries, a large amount of clothing, an iPad computer, and four cameras, one of which was a GoPro, according to the Centralia Police Department.
• A break-in to a business on the 1000 block of Centralia College Boulevard was reported about 8:45 a.m. yesterday in which the stolen property included toilet paper, soap and paper towels.
VEHICLE PROWL
• Centralia police arrested two suspects last night following an approximately 9 a.m. call to the 2000 block of Borst Avenue for a car prowl in which a purse was taken. Two of the victim’s credit cards were used at local businesses, according to the Centralia Police Department. They found their suspects sleeping inside a closed business at the 1100 block of View Avenue about 11 p.m. and booked them into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree theft and unlawful factoring of transactions, according to police. The arrested were Daniel M. Alexander, 25, of Belfair and Ada M. Sohm, 19, of Skokomish, according to police. Sohm was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine, police indicated this morning.
• An officer was called just before 8 a.m. yesterday following the discovery someone had broken into a work van parked at the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and removed numerous tools.
• Chehalis police were called about 7:45 a.m. yesterday to a loading dock at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue where someone had stolen keys and a flashlight from a semi truck parked there.
MORE THEFT
• Centralia police were called about 11:45 p.m. yesterday regarding bank fraud in a case associated with the 600 block of Bengal Court. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.
FROM THE COURTHOUSE
• Zachary M. Riihimaki, 18, of Lacey, was booked yesterday on a $50,000 warrant for his arrest in connection with a June burglary at a home on the 400 block of Coal Creek Road in Chehalis in which several guns were stolen. Riihimaki and Chase L. Flores, 31, from Shelton, allegedly went with their buddy Conner J. McClain to the home where McClain had previously lived with his then-girlfriend on June 15 and broke into a home, a shop and an travel trailer, according to court documents. Riihimaki is charged in Lewis County Superior Court with residential burglary, theft of a firearm and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. A judge this afternoon left his bail at $50,000.
DRINKING IN PUBLIC
• A 45-year-old man approached by police while he was sitting in the alcove of a closed business with an open can of beer reportedly charged the officer telling him to shoot but was threatened with a Taser and eventually laid down on the ground in response to repeated orders to do so. It happened about 7:25 p.m. yesterday at the 800 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia, according to the Centralia Police Department. Charon O. Jones, 45, of Redwood City, California, allegedly pulled away as officers were trying to handcuff him and subsequently was arrested for obstructing a public servant and resisting arrest and was issued a notice of infraction for the beer, before being booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to police.
