A fire that seriously damaged a home just west of Tenino yesterday is believed to have started with a pan on a stove, according to Thurston County Fire District 12.

Three fire departments responded to the approximately 12:30 p.m. call along the 1700 block of Mima Acres Drive Southeast, Administrative Chief Tina Vanderhoof said

The occupants were home, called 911 and got out safely, she said.

The flames got into the ceiling, then the roof and while the doublewide mobile home didn’t burn to the ground, it was compromised and likely is a total loss, she said.

Much of the contents were destroyed, Vanderhoof said.

Two firefighters were treated at the scene for exhaustion, but nobody was hurt, she said.

Seriously?? The family loses all of their worldly possessions and pretty much their entire home which even though it may not have burned to the ground is still unlivable now , who knows where they will stay or what they may do… And the only two comments that I find about this sad and unfair tragedy is someone’s comment on the apparently “hilarious” fact that this took place in Thurston and not Lewis County, as if this somehow makes it irrelevant to the rest of us not in Lewis, followed by a “lol” and another person’s dismissively snide remark of how not only did they bring it upon themselves by having a fire in the middle of the day in the middle of summer, because we all know that there would never be a reason to ever do something so obviously unnecessary but to then add their personal opinion of this family and how these people must have been doing so because they were doing something which seems that it was justified and even expected for them to have this happen well guess what even if they were burning garbage which I doubt they were doing that doesn’t mean they deserve this and if that wasn’t your intention then I do apologize but maybe you should reword that stand because that is exactly how you’re coming off, did you ever stop to think maybe they had a kid or baby maybe they didn’t have water and they needed to boil something for food or for washing dishes even, does it really matter? they didn’t deserve this that’s the point Humanity needs to rediscover their compassion and concern for fellow man reading these comments today has instantly made me sad for us all
I hope this family find the help and kindness they need and deserve, and they will long be in my thoughts…
