CHEHALIS – The first of two public meetings on the county regulation of recreational marijuana is set for this evening in Morton.
The public is invited to attend and may offer written or oral comments on the issues.
Tonight’s session begins at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Morton Senior Center at 103 Westlake Avenue in Morton.
Holding the discussion are personnel from the offices of Lewis County Community Development, Environmental Health and the Prosecuting Attorney.
Proposed county code revisions are designed to license marijuana businesses in a manner consistent with the Washington Liquor Control Board regulations and all other applicable law including federal law, and to provide a mechanism whereby the numerous special concerns posed by marijuana businesses may be addressed conscientiously, according to county officials.
A second meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on June 29 at the Lewis County Historical Courthouse at 351 NW North Ave., Chehalis.
Draft revisions to the various chapters of Lewis County code are available for public view online at: http://lewiscountywa.gov/communitydevelopment/plann

Operated Hub City Natural medicine and the cops radied the place. Only on Mars, opps I mean Centralia. It was Legal for medical patients yet in Centralia the police made fake medical cards to gain access. Then the Kangaroo court rubber stamped it. CPD and their officials are a joke and their ripe with corruption, aint that right Detective Shannon.
Maybe it is time for you “bigwigs” to start rolling up your sleeves for WE instead of feeding your own grandiosity.
The thing that really chaps my behind is how all these “departments” with such “authority” can screw up so many things. Chehalis Ave. is only one example of a total stupid waste of resources. Yep, wonky sidewalks for the drunk bar goers to stumble over. Not one scenic view on the street. Actually I feel sorry for the respectable shop owners on that street. Not to mention the fire Department has to navigate it’s way over stupid curbs when it flies to the jail. Then we have the Chehalis museum. We have sitting “bigwigs?” on the committee, and a fat greedy hog steals all the money!? No wonder nobody wants to come to Chehalis. Any comments Joanne Schartz or Dennis Dawes?
STFU RUPERT! You’re a G’damn Idiot and I don’t know what you’re still doing in America! You hate this county and Nation so much, so go move to Korea!! AH!!
Maybe those community developers need a little pot to get their creative juices flowing. Chehalis Ave. is a disaster!
For once Pea body I agree with you.
The Government has locked people up since 1937 and claimed that Marijuana caused black men to rape white women ( Reefer Madness) now they want to talk Pot after Kicking in doors, Handing out 20 prison bids and terrorizing Americans over a plant for Decades. It’s clear to see that the real criminals are the people in power and now they want the money for a plant you can grow in you’re own yard. When will the Government admit they lied to We the People. Makes me Sick, Alcohol deaths in the millions yet pot kills no one. How much more of this corrupt Government can we take. This whole pot scam has been a war on freedom.
Just give me all of the Marijuana!!!! I will take good care of it. (Lights Bong)
I love the wonky protruding sidewalks along Chehalis Ave. Now citizens can enjoy a pretty walk on their way to donating their life savings to the co. assessor or the bail bond shop.
Community Development has a legally-defined role representing the County (and its taxpayers) in matters of land use, building & fire safety and permitting. I’ll leave their competence for others to determine, but marijuana retail businesses absolutely come within their sphere of influence. They’re SUPPOSED to be involved in this issue on behalf of all of us (in theory, if not fact).
Why is Lewis County Community Development even involved in this issue? The same Chehalis Community Development people created those rediculous wonky protruding sidewalks along Chehalis Ave. going towards the courthouse. All these Community “DEVELOPERS” need to be fired! What a waste of money and resources!
