The (Longview) Daily News reports the retirement of Winlock Police Chief Terry Williams this summer will be followed by the city contracting with Toledo for law enforcement services.
News reporter Marissa Luck writes the divided city council voted to dissolve the police department and pay Toledo $196,000 for 20 hours a day of patrolling, rejecting a $250,000 proposed contract from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Bill S: that’s a fantastic idea. Think of how much a renter of the car could make enforcing asset forfeiture laws!!!!
Find someone breaking the speed limit, accuse them of drugs, and take their cash and car!!! Just like real police.
They have this all backwards. They should rent out the retiring chief’s patrol car for let’s say $1,000 per week, changing the speed limit at the edge of town to 15mph and hiding the sign behind a big tree. Then whoever rents the cruiser can make their income by sitting on the edge of town and extorting speeding fines from city slickers passing through. Don’t pinch the locals though as the whole scheme could fall apart.
Wow police department Bid Wars. Now selling your neighborhood security to cut rate company’s for the lowest bid. Damm America just might be a third world country now. Lets blame this on the Town Flag……
