CHEHALIS – He said it wasn’t his and even though it was discovered inside his vehicle after impound, troopers were unable to make a clear enough connection to arrest the 24-year-old Tacoma man for possession of marijuana.
So they didn’t.
Zequane J. King was stopped early last week in Lewis County and was found to be driving with a suspended license, so he was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Washington State Patrol. Trooper Will Finn said a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up roughly one and a half ounces of marijuana.
King was adamant it didn’t belong to him, according to Finn.
Under the new law, it’s lawful for a person 21 or older to have up to one ounce.
Since troopers couldn’t establish ownership, the marijuana was put into safekeeping, the same way the state patrol would for a purse or other valuables from any impounded car, according to Finn.
Yesterday however, King arranged to meet up with the state patrol evidence custodian at the office in Chehalis, to retrieve his property, Finn said.
“He explained to the custodian he was calling to make arrangements to get possession of his marijuana that had been placed into safe keeping,” Finn said in a news release.
Once King signed paperwork stating the marijuana was his and took possession of it, he was arrested once again, this time for possessing a felony amount of marijuana, Finn said.
He was booked into the Lewis County Jail.
This time, the marijuana was placed in to the state patrol’s evidence system as evidence, according to Finn.

What a fucking moron. If he likes his “bread buttered on both sides” so much, he’s gonna have a good time in there with all those boy in there on the don low from east county. LOL.
To clarify for Bobby,
I-502 did not open the flood gates and legalize Marijuana totally. You are allowed 1 ounce or 28.2 grams. Anything between 28.3 and 39.99 is a misdemeanor. 40 grams and over is a felony. Toss in a scale, packaging and drug ledgers and you earned a class B felony. Of course if this is “medical reefer”, you can have up to 24 ounces. Shallala, look up the definition of entrapment and you will see you are using it incorrectly. The crime was already in play by the dumb ass. The troopers merely took his word when he promised that it wasn’t his. When he called WSP and changed his mind stating that it was indeed his, he more less claimed it and the charge that accompanied it.
Please someone tell me how dope does nothing to your brain! We can only hope such potheads are too stoned to make more kids.
Or it’s Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest…the thinning of the herd. If you knew you were holding over the legal amount then walk away. If its was under the limit then they would have to give it back. Just more examples of how the marijuana law that was supposed to be easy and never have any law enforcement consequences. Just another example of people being told a referendum would result in one thing and yet is results in another.
The whole ‘Lost and Found’ is bogus. There is no ‘Lost and Found’ just a entrapment tool.
did they give him 1 oz back or 1.4 oz back? anyway they tricked him into thinking he could get it back,… and made him sign the paper. If they actually did give it back i think it would be intent to deliver.
what if he only requested his legal amount back and let them keep the rest?
Why, besides money, hassle this fellow. Let’s get on your bikes (saves tax $$) and catch some of these traffic offenders. I live on a busy, often congested street. If you half tried you’d have a purse full of citations by noon. Catch some of those early morning speeders if possible. Someone will be injured sooner or later if the posted speed limits are nothing enforced. Or waste your time on this BS.
There is no entrapment here shallala, just another brain dead soul who didn’t think his actions thru. I mean really, you just got busted and managed to talk your way out of having an illegal quantity of weed, they take it, let you go and you are thinking “Hey, I’ll go back and pick it up from the cops” bright, real bright…..
Ha ha dumb ass. ” It’s not mine bro”…..”Wait, I’m not being charged? Well then it is mine” Dumb ass
Holy smokes! Using pot really does make you smarter ha ha
another case of entrapment,….so they are guilty of intent to deliver?
This made me Laugh !! Stupid is as stupid does !
