The wreck that killed 25-year-old Dustin N. Meyer on Centralia-Alpha Road southwest of Chehalis on Saturday night remains under investigation, but the sheriff’s office believes speed may have been among the factors involved.
Meyer was northbound at a righthand curve when his car left the roadway and hit a tree, spun around and then struck a second tree, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened near Senn Road just before 9 p.m.
The Centralia man was wearing a seatbelt but died at the scene of multiple blunt force injuries, according to authorities. He was driving a Hyundai Sonata.
The Washington State Patrol assisted deputies in investigating the collision, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.
CORRECTION: This has been updated to correctly reflect the middle initial of Meyer’s name. Erroneous information was initially provided by the Lewis County coroner.

I am struck by the pain everyone here has suffered with losses of family members. I pray for each and every one of you and your family.
Caroline, I also lost both of my younger brothers in separate incidents less than three years apart. I know your pain. While your life will never be the same without him, the anguish will lessen with time, and you will begin life again with a new “normal.” My heart and prayers go out to your entire family.
Thank you for fixing the error that was made. I also want to thank everyone for the warm comments. I want to thank you all on behalf of myself and my family as well.
My Granddaughter told me to look at Dustins profile on facebook and I got as far as the picture of his children and that was it for me. I am sure he was a fine young man and having lost children of my own I sympathize with his family but my heart is breaking for the little ones. What a terrible loss for them.
For the family of this young man my sincere condolences. What a tragedy.
Caroline i would be very upset if anyone disrespected Dustin. While people go a little off on this site it is never towards a young person who loses their life so tragically. We all realize that for every life lost there are many, many other lives touched. Nothing can ever help a family get over a loss of this magnitude. Closure is a word you hear used but the family does not want to “close” that part of their lives.
Please accept my prayers for your family as well.
I’m so sorry for your loss. My beautiful daughter died in July after a long battle with brain and spinal cancer. She was about the same age. I don’t think I will ever be right again. Nobody can understand the excruciating and devastating pain unless they have lost a child themselves. It is considered the most difficult loss that a person can bear, and I believe that is true.
For Dustin’s parents, there is a loss of a child (of any age) support group called The Compassionate Friends held in Olympia at St. Peter Hospital on the first Monday of every month from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. If they are interested, and when they are ready.
What a tragedy for your family. My sympathy to all affected by this loss. ~ Namaste~
His name was Dustin Nickolas Meyer and please make sure you are respectful our family is still dealing with the loss of our beloved brother, son, dad, and uncle!
