DEPUTY INJURED DURING DOMESTIC DISPUTE CALL
• A 21-year-old woman was arrested yesterday for allegedly attacking a deputy in Rochester, leaving him with a broken hand and scratches on his face. Law enforcement had been called about 4:30 p.m. regarding a disturbance between a husband and wife at their home on the 3900 block of 183rd Avenue Southwest, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. They were told she picked up a shovel and threatened her husband with it, according to Lt. Cliff Ziesemer. An arriving deputy made contact with Nicole J. Duff who was sitting on the porch, the shovel nearby, according to the sheriff’s office. When the deputy attempted to detain her, she began kicking, biting, punching and scratching at him, according to Ziesemer. Duff was Tased and taken into custody with the help of her husband, Ziesemer said. Duff had just been released from jail in Lewis County for punching an officer, Ziesemer said. She was booked into the Thurston County Jail for second-degree assault.

It happened about 1:30 a.m. at Cowlitz Timber Trails, an association of lot owners along the river, Chief Duran McDaniel said. Others at the scene brought the couple to the gate and they were transported to Providence Centralia Hospital, McDaniel said. “I don’t know her status, but I’m sure she got shipped out to another facility,” McDaniel said today.

“That woman in Rochester may well need psychological help….”
After reading your rant, I’m guessing she’s not the only one.
Ron Green – the cops in this town have all lost the trust of the citizens. That lack of trust comes from having a Sheriff with anger issues who skirts the limits of the law himself and a department like Centralia that tolerates over-tazing and bullying. Being a cop is a thankless job – but that is no excuse for torture and bullying. We citizens are paying you to STOP that sort of behavior and not participate (or condone it by looking the other way).
That woman in Rochester may well need psychological help. But if the local cops want a different reaction from the citizens, perhaps they should ALL volunteer to wear cameras and stop condoning bad behavior. Otherwise – they are just another gang.
Herchlocke your a piece of work. “She’s sick of the police” Really, that’s a good reason to take the action she did. Here’s a real simple solution for those people who are sick of the police, stop breaking laws. It’s amazing how that works, don’t do anything to get yourself contacted by the police and they wont ever talk to you. Simple but so hard for some. Same goes for your bitching about getting shot in LC, have you ever been a cop or been in a first responder position, my guess is not. It’s really easy to be a Monday morning quarterback. I am advocating that the deputy gets to come home safe, every day. You and people like you seem to forget just who the criminal is here. If it wasn’t for all the tweakers, thieves, criminals and just plain idiots like Ms. Duff those cops you hate so bad would have nothing to do but catch speeders. Not that hard to understand is it?
Extremist views on a hate blog. Maybe ignorants like Green and JZ should take the next call or just shut up.
Maybe she is just sick of the police?
At least it was in Thurston County so she didn’t get shot with a shotgun about 8 times which is the standard procedure in Lewis County.
You sound like a real winner Ron. Nothing like advocating a much stronger person with training to handle physical altercations taking a piece of steel and beating a woman’s head with it when she doesn’t cooperate.
Also, an old fashioned lesson in punctuation and grammar wouldn’t hurt you either. The teacher could jam a ruler in your eye whenever you make an error. Just a thought…
Or maybe what she needs is some actual psychological help. She doesn’t sound right in the head at all; nobody with clarity of thought would keep behaving like that. But quality mental heath support is nearly impossible to find, so this will just keep happening, a continuing cycle of violence. Because taking someone with psychological problems and beating them on the head is the Lewis/Thurston County thing to do, right?
Sounds to me like Nicole J. Duff of Rochester needs an old fashioned lesson in treating Deputy’s with respect. Obviously this person has an issue with being question and/or detained. Maybe next time there’s a call regarding her the responding officer will remember the name and make good use of that nightstick upside this broads head if she gets outta line. Just a thought…..
Wow. She broke the cops hand? Learn to control yourself. As if the DV wasn’t bad enough now you have another charge involving an officer. Ugh, kids.
