Deputies are investigating after an infant was found unconscious at a Winlock area home early this morning.
Aid and the sheriff’s office responded about 6:30 a.m. to the 300 block of Nikula Road south of town where the baby was unresponsive, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
The 6-month-old boy was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.
An investigation is ongoing, Brown said.
Brown said it is not necessarily suspicious at this point, but anytime there is a death of a child, the sheriff’s office gets involved.

AnotherMom, so sorry you went through that. I couldn’t imagine losing a little angel to SID and undergoing an investigation. That’s really sad. Sorry you had that experience. 🙁
And Lisa, why so anxious to hear cause of death? That’s kind of cruel if you don’t know the specifics of this death already! Sure hope if it was a loss like AnotherMom’s, that the family isn’t hurt by that comment. Sad, no matter cause of death. One so young lost:(
Years ago, I lost a baby to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome the same day as another mom in Lewis County. Our baby’s death was investigated as “suspicious”, but the other mom’s baby death was not. I am grateful for her sake that she did not have to undergo that additional trauma…. but I still wonder who has the say-so in deciding what is a “suspicious death”. The grief is enormous… the trauma was unnecessary.
Anxious to hear the cause of death? Wow :\.
I feel so sad for this family. Anxious to hear the cause of death 🙁 Poor baby.
This is very sad to hear :'( makes my heart break cause I’m a mother of 3 and I’m not even sure how I would react if I lost them this is just heartbreaking to hear about. :'( :'(
