CHEHALIS – Prosecutors yesterday filed two charges of second-degree child assault against the boyfriend of the mother of a 4-year-old boy who was brought to the hospital over the weekend with various injuries including bruises on the outsides of his legs he said he got from “knife hand” spankings.

Ryon T. Connery, 31, was arrested after a deputy on Saturday spoke with the child and his grandparents at Providence Centralia Hospital and then his mother and Connery at the Winlock area home.

The boy had been brought to the emergency room to be looked at after he was dropped off at his great grandmother’s house that morning.

Connery went before a judge in Lewis County Superior Court on Monday, where he was ordered held on $75,000 bail and prosecutors were given two more days to file charges. At the time, the defense attorney said the boy was currently with his other parent.

He was brought before a judge again yesterday when the charges were filed.

The offense carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

According to charging documents, the boy said he got spanked because he had been breaking “house rules”, including stealing food.

The documents allege the following was learned by the investigating deputy:

The child explained the rug burn on his nose came from when he fell on his face trying to get away from a spanking, an abrasion on his face happened when Connery hit him on the leg and it knocked him over so that he struck his face on the floor.

The child’s mother admitted her son had been made to do wall squats, push ups and being sprayed by a hose at the same time and she knew he’d dropped a weight on his finger – which was broken. She told the deputy the scrapes on his face were from falling down.

But she denied the child was dunked in the outdoor pool and was not aware of the injuries on his chest and back.

When asked what his mother did while he was getting punished, the boy told the deputy she would just watch.

The youngster also had swollen ankle that appeared to have been burned or infected.

The sheriff’s office says the mother and Connery live near Winlock. A document in the court file indicates a Chehalis address for Connery.

The mother said she and Connery have been in a dating relationship about four months.

Connery is represented by Centralia lawyer David Arcuri.

His arraignment was scheduled for today.

LBF – Maybe she’s not a liar, just not used to smearing his name everywhere. Yes, he may be a loser, but that doesn’t make her a liar.

“My 16 month old sons father walked out on us and left us with nothing. and is hiding in Oregon from debt collectors and child support enforcement.”

    You’re a liar!!!

The fact you FAILED to mention the name of the deadbeat dad, means you’re protecting him!!!!

Nice try at making your extra-sexual affairs while raising a child seem normal.

    @statisticshound
You are correct. Please know that I have just as much disdain for uninvolved, POS dads as I do for selfish, skank, man hopping moms. I guess I should have mentioned that. Now that I think of it… Where the hell was this kids bio father while this punk was abusing his kid??? Well one thing that can be said for him; at least he didn’t stand by and watch it happen like she did.

  4. I would like to remind Dominoe regarding the comment of an “active vagina” (a usable vagina?) that an “active penis” is also required to produce a child. What should be required before a male can reproduce? Probably not a bad idea in both cases. Most human beings would fail whatever tests would be required.

Anyone who will hurt an innocent like an old ass person, a little kid or a special needs person , should be shot on sight.

  6. sara says:

Dominoe and Breann had this exactly right. this whole situation is fucked.

  7. Dominoe says:

Well here we go again, just like I said…. The “mother” knew about the abuse and didn’t do shit to stop it. I maintain that not all women should be allowed to reproduce. You need a license to drive, hunt, and fish, but bringing a child into the world requires nothing more than an active vagina. I truly hope her role in this isn’t overlooked. She should have her child removed and placed with someone who will put his needs before the relationship with the newest piece of ass. Then she should be given a forced hysterectomy. FOUR MONTHS and this “man” was worth more than her son to her. Makes me sick. Die of AIDS and burn in hell bitch

Is Arcuri a court-appointed attorney? Interesting that Mr. Arcuri is a strong supporter of the Jackson Hwy “Safe Home” for women, yet he defends scum like Connery. I guess that if he is court-appointed he kinda has a job to do. Must be terrible to work at a job that is contrary to one’s convictions, if that is the case here.

There should be a law just like the one that holds a person responsible for an unsecured weapon. This person brought this man into her home which above all should be safe for her child. She brought in the weapon. He should be flushed for sure just as you would flush any garbage. She is another matter and should be held responsible for the weapon she unleashed on the most precious thing she has had the privilage to receive. I am afraid these kind of monsters would not like me if I was a judge. Also I am a voter and these judges are elected, and I carry a grudge for a long time. Four year olds are about my very favorite things on this planet.

So sad. And what a brave little boy to speak the truth. You can’t convince me that the mom didn’t know about the other injuries, and what a sick piece of garbage to stand and watch while her son got hurt. She needs to be held accountable, and at the very least lose custody.

I assure you, what she’s done has hurt this child more in the long run than what this creep did to him. I was abused as a child and have worked though that. But I told my mom what was going on and I wasn’t believed so it kept happening. That hurt me more than any of the physical wounds did and frankly I’ve never gotten over it. It pains me that any other children would have to go through anything similar. Thank goodness for this kid’s grandma.

There are nice guys out there who can be loving to a woman and her child but it seems these women, and i do not mean to stereotype but look at the history, seem to gravitate to less than quality men. To watch your child be brutalized by your boyfriend of 4 months? Sorry if you love this guy so much maybe you should share a cell with him.

I am also very aware of battered woman syndrome and I know it is very real but I surely hope the defense of the mom here isn’t “I was afraid of the man too”.

I was in a relationship with a woman who had children from a different marraige. I insisted that she and i get to know each other first before even meeting the kids. It was a gradual process and the culminating event was when her two little girs begged me to try and be their mom’s boyfriend (they had no idea ha ha). While it did not work out for us those kids mean as much to me as if they were my own. I just don’t get people. Just when you think you have become hardened to the depths people can reach you are still amazed!
I really feel for teh child. I hope the cycle of violence has been stopped before he thinks that is the way deal with life. To quote Lisarae…GGGGRRR!!!

  12. Sheila Smith says:

In cases like these ( child abuse ) our justice system is too civilized. These monsters deserve vigilante justice. 10 years max for someone who destroys a precious little life?!? I say an eye for an eye in these cases.

  13. ninja says:

CommonName, that statement is ignorant. What you’re saying basically is that its not okay for a single mother to date someone if they have a child? My 16 month old sons father walked out on us and left us with nothing. and is hiding in Oregon from debt collectors and child support enforcement. I am in a loving and caring relationship with a man who loves me and helps me raise my son. So throw me in jail because I moved in with him? I hope that this monster bitch of a mother is charged and locked up just like that Becky heupel numb nuts. Any parent who allows another human to physically assault their child needs a baseball bat right upside the head. I hope they both do hard core time and that poor boy gets the help and love he deserves.

  14. BlickeyBlouse says:

If they don’t charge the mother as well, there is no justice in this world.

  15. Angela says:

This is so sad. My heart aches for this boy. An innocent sweet little 4 year old child. what a sorry excuse for human beings the mother and that man are. i hope they both get thrown in jail. I DO NOT understand how a mother could allow anything like this to happen to her baby. As a parent of 3 myself how can you give nothing but love trust and nuturing to your child. This is absolutely disgusting and shame shame on them.

  16. Silent Night says:

This is seriously messed up! What kind of mother would let this crap happen to her CHILD! These mothers are pieces of shit, just as much as the abuser in my opinion!!! We do need to start pressing charges on them for neglect, abuse, failure to protect. And their parental rights SHOULD be taken away, FOREVER!!! This is sick and disgusting!! When are they going to start prosecuting the moms too! I’m not really a violent person, but sure wish we would start going after the moms too, sending a CLEAR message to the REST of the piece of crap moms out there letting this kind of behavior happen! Seems to be becoming a trend in our county. The moms get off Scott free, and this is NOT the message we should be sending out in the community! It makes the rest of them think its ok, because they know it will only be the abuser who is facing penalties for the WORST type of crime!! THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE!! I am so sickened by this trending behavior of the younger generation, WTF????

  17. Clear Understanding says:

Damn, we need a ‘like’ tab on posts here.

Mom needs to be in jail right next to POS till it is time to go to prison.

  18. Hometowner says:

    Thank god for the grandmother!!!!

  19. CommonName says:

Maybe jailing a few more moms would get the word out that it is NOT ok to jump into relationships when you have a kid. Kids are only around 18 years. If you have changed relationships in that time – hold of on cohabitating. YOU have the rest of your life for that, if the love is real, it will wait.

  20. breann says:

They forgot to include they made him run up a hill in just his underwear in this weather. the guy is a level 2 sex offender and the mom is a piece of shit and should be charged for the same things as him.I knew her before she became a fucking fruitcake and I hope the dad gets full custody and that both these pos rott in jail he has anger problems and in all honesty I was in court today for my own stuff but she was a coward and would not look at me.it took everything I had not to bounce her head off the bench.no child should have to live like that nor be around these two.

  21. Lisarae says:

Any woman who allows a man, the natural father or otherwise, to abuse her child needs to be in jail with him for the same crime. Just as she would be if she were present while he robbed a bank. These are defenseless children!! WTF is wrong with people? Grrrrrrrrrrrr…..
