A part-time employee at the Chehalis distribution center for UPS was arrested yesterday for allegedly stealing and re-selling thousands of dollars worth of cell phones and other merchandise.
Roland E. Camps, 40, from Winlock, was booked into the Lewis County Jail after he went into the sheriff’s office for an interview, following an investigation that began early last week, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
Among the stolen goods were an unspecified number of Apple iphones and Samsung cell phones as well as video games and equipment, according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Sgt. Rob Snaza
“We’re still in the process of seeing how much is missing,” Snaza said this morning.
Snaza said Camps loaded trucks at the parcel delivery service’s location on the 100 block of Hamilton Road south of Chehalis.
According to Snaza, a security supervisor contacted the sheriff’s office after they figured out phones were missing from the Chehalis center.
“They were finding out some stolen phones had been activated,” he said.
Snaza said the losses at this point are estimated at between $50,000 and $100,000 and could go back as far as from Aug. 9.
Camps was arrested and booked for first-degree theft and first-degree trafficking in stolen property.

I have my own issues with the USPS (only a government-run entity would respond to a significant loss of business to the internet by RAISING the price of their product), but I’ve very few complaints about the level of service I’ve received over the years. Most letter carriers I’ve dealt with have been decent people and the majority of USPS employees at the post office have been fine (they’re a lot friendlier at the Centralia PO than Chehalis…I’m within walking distance of the Chehalis PO but will make the drive to Centralia because of that). No doubt there are a number of USPS employees who abuse an already-screwy system, but I think they’re in the minority.

You can’t trust the Postal Service either.”
I hope you understand that with billions of pieces of mail processed daiy, there is always the possibility that a piece or 2 got lost/stuck together or ??? not just stolen.
With that being said…. I am a former USPS employee who moved on to find a more stimulating job. During my 10+ years at the local USPS office there were people fired for stealing Social Security/ Welfare checks, stealing books of stamps to sell on Ebay, Drinking on the job and the list goes on… “Ridge” – here’s to hoping that where you sent the check to may have lost it… but chances are the USPS did. Good Luck.

That’s what you get for thinking that it was ONLY TSA that you couldn’t trust…..
Every organization is run by people who attempt to operate under a set of ideals. In most cases, the people have given up their rights and responsibilities as citizens in the world and are only looking out for #1, with no care or concern for how their actions might affect others. Toss out in the Bible in the courts and schools, and there is no reason to believe in the “Golden Rule” or to love thy neighbor, nor care for children or the elderly.
As I’ve posted before – we cannot legislate morality. Even anti-stupidity cannot be enforced. “Rules were meant to be broken”, etc. etc..
Chris, that was hilarious, but I’m glad I already ate dinner when I read it…not a word picture to whet one’s appetite.
UPS employees are notorious for stealing packages.
You can’t trust the Postal Service either. I mailed a check in a postal box outside the Post Office and the check for $364 dollars never arrived. I received a late notice for my payment is how I found out. I always pay my bills a month in advance so 5 weeks later, the check has still not shown up.
